The Mystery FBI Agent Tasked With Ambushing LaVoy Finicum

An FBI agent at the road block where LaVoy Finicum's truck ended up stuck in the deep snow was tasked with just that - his job was to be sure Finicum didn't squeeze past the road block on the very left shoulder and continue on but see that Finicum had to swerve further out into the deep snow on the left and get stuck so he could be taken out by firepower.

Look at the stills below - and keep in mind that law enforcement and wanks on blog sites are telling you that Finicum almost hit this agent and showed deadly force in trying to run over the agent.  Notice on the stills that the agent actually is moving TOWARDS the truck, he is moving DEEPER into the snow - he is forcing the truck to veer more and more to the left to get stuck.  Below the still you will see the video that shows this in real time speed.  In the first 6 seconds of this video you will see the FBI agent SPRINT to his right out INTO THE PATH of the Finicum truck.

Who was this agent?  Are the American people going to hear an interview with him as to why he acted in this way?  Is a reporter going to ask him what his orders were?

The Obama Administration Wouldn't Possibly DARE Put Jamie Gorelick In Charge of the FBI...Would They?

Here we go again, folks, strap yourselves in as it appears that the Obama administration might be working overtime to come up with new appointment that will be worse than all of those catastrophes it has already managed to accomplish. FBI Director Mueller is set to leave his post in September and there's now a list of possible nominees to take his place. One of those nominees, a Harvard University and Harvard Law School graduate (uh oh, where have I heard that resume' before?) is on the list and the author of this article at Family Security Matters is cringing at the possibility that Barack Hussein Obama might just actually choose Jamie Gorelick for FBI Director.

Read the article below and consider yourself warned about the incompetence that this choice would mean but hey, why would the Obama administration stray from its current consistency of naming the WORST possible candidates to any post?

No, No, No! No More Gorelicks!


With all the absurdities in the world, with all the absurdities coming out of the Obama Administration, perhaps one of the most jaw-dropping, one of the most egregious, one of the most spectacular, is the notion that the person who single-handedly erected “the wall” between the US intelligence and US law enforcement communities – the wall responsible for facilitating the attacks of September 11th, 2001, Jamie Gorelick – is being considered for the position of Director of the FBI. What intellectually challenged Progressive operative could have possibly thought this was a good idea?

FBI Director Robert Mueller, who has come under scrutiny by those who study radical Islamism for his less than intensive examination of Islamist radicalization within the United States, is set to conclude his tenure in early September of this year. This puts the Obama Administration in the position of having to nominate a new director, not only to execute the post in a post-September 11th era, but to execute it for a post-Obama administration, as well.

To put it bluntly, the Director of the FBI has to have the courage to stand-up to bully ideologues the likes of Attorney General Eric Holder and Senior Presidential Advisor Valerie Jarrett. A Director must put the idea of law enforcement and investigation above all else. And as we have learned through the events of Watergate, sometimes the Director must thoroughly absolve himself of all political loyalties in the pursuit of justice in the name of and for the American people, his or her true employer.

Upon an examination of prospective replacements for Mr. Mueller, the Wall Street Journal’s Evan Perez reported:

“The candidates being discussed, according to US officials, are James Comey, Kenneth Wainstein, Patrick Fitzgerald and Merrick Garland. Also in the running, the officials said, are Michael Mason, John Pistole and Jamie Gorelick.”

The name “Jamie Gorelick,” another bloated resume from Harvard University and Harvard Law School (are we done with the Ivy league political class yet?), sticks out like a sore thumb not only because of her unwitting facilitation of the September 11, 2001, attacks but because above being a lawyer – above being a lawyer – she is a partisan politician whose ethics are questionable at best.

There are a few reasons why Jaime Gorelick should not only be removed from consideration for the position of Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, but, quite frankly, should be ushered out of public service all together:

Obviously, her crafting of policy that erected “the wall” between intelligence and law enforcement, which led directly to the attacks of September 11, 2001, comes in as the most egregious.

In a 1995 Justice Department memo, written when Gorelick served as deputy attorney general, she implemented policy for compartmentalizing gleaned information into the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. This policy was put into place so as to keep what was discovered by intelligence gatherers and criminal investigators within the Justice Department, in two concurrent but independent investigations, segregated in order to protect "the rights" of any defendant (read: terrorist).

In the memo, “Instructions on Separation of Certain Foreign Counterintelligence and Criminal Investigations,” Gorelick set out guidelines to “satisfy” FISA law, stipulating that information may only be gathered by way of surveillance for the primary purpose of intelligence, not to contribute to a criminal case under which defendants have more constitutional protections.

Gorelick wrote:

“These procedures, which go beyond what is legally required, will prevent any risk of creating an unwarranted appearance that FISA is being used to avoid procedural safeguards which would apply in a criminal investigation.”

The procedure, which went "beyond what was legally required," kept intelligence community members from alerting the law enforcement community about the activities of 19 al Qaeda hijackers that would slaughter over 3,000 innocents in New York, Washington, DC, and Pennsylvania.

It isn’t every day that someone can craft and implement a politically correct policy that would facilitate the murder of over 3,000 people, but then Ms. Gorelick isn’t your run-of-the-mill political toady. According to her official profile published at the 9/11 Commission website:

“From May 1993 until she joined the Justice Department, Gorelick served as general counsel of the Department of Defense. From 1979 to 1980 she was assistant to the secretary and counselor to the deputy secretary of energy. In the private sector, from 1975 to 1979 and again from 1980 to 1993, Gorelick was a litigator in Washington, DC, representing major US companies on a broad range of legal and business matters.”

In 1997, Ms. Gorelick was appointed to serve as the Vice Chair of Fannie Mae, although, stunningly, she had no previous training or experience in finance. During her tenure, which lasted until 2003, Ms. Gorelick was principally responsible for the unique idea of buying sub-prime mortgage loans (read: ACORN loans) – encouraged by the Community Reinvestment Act of the Carter Era and continued through the Clinton Era – and bundling them as securitized financial instruments. This financial vehicle, as we all now know, was directly responsible for the sub-prime mortgage crash that lit the fuse to the current long-term financial crisis and the devastation of the housing market.

Incredulously, Ms. Gorelick walked away from this slaughter of the American Dream – a financial manipulation that left hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in foreclosure, their credit ratings ruined and their financial futures in shambles – having received a total of $26,466,834 in income. This total included a $779, 625 bonus emanating from an additional scandal concerning falsified financial transactions that helped the company meet earnings targets for 1998, a scandal investigated by the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight.

If you’re thinking that Ms. Gorelick’s past actions should see her investigated by the FBI instead of vying for the office of FBI Director, you’re not alone. But, it gets worse...

On November 27, 2003, Ms. Gorelick – the souls of 3,000-plus and the ruined lives of millions on her resume – was appointed to the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the “9/11 Commission.” Gorelick was appointed to the commission by uber-partisan former US Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD). To be fair, all of the commissions appointees were politicians of grotesquely politically connected, but none had a primary role in the facilitation of the horrors of that day.

Instead of adhering to any measure of ethics by recusing herself from the commission for a conflict of interest (she did recuse herself from examining her own role in the facilitation of events) or even in the interest of the appearance of impropriety, given the grave nature of the event and the serious threat to national security that existed, Gorelick actually co-authored the final report, titled, “The 9/11 Commission Report: Final Report of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States.”

Astonishingly, neither the memo that produced “the wall” nor Ms. Gorelick’s role in instituting it as policy – a policy that prevented anti-terror investigators from accessing information housed on the computer of Zacarias Moussaoui ( the 20th hijacker), already in custody on an immigration violation – were investigated by the 9/11 Commission. In fact, the commission knew nothing of the existence of the memo until then US Attorney General John Ashcroft testified, saying:

“Although you understand the debilitating impact of the wall, I cannot imagine that the commission knew about this memorandum, so I have declassified it for you and the public to review...Full disclosure compels me to inform you that its author (Jamie Gorelick) is a member of this commission.”

But, Ms. Gorelick wasn’t done enjoining with the destruction of lives just yet. She took a position that added her to the defense team representing Duke University against a lawsuit brought regarding the rape allegations leveled against several Duke University Lacrosse players by a stripper/prostitute who later was found to have concocted the entire story for personal financial gain.

In instance after instance, her actions portray a person of both questionable ethics and poor judgment, not to mention political partisanship and opportunism. Each and every one of these issues should serve as enough reason to cross her name of the short list for FBI Director with a “Sharpie,” cut that section off the paper, burn it, and then bury the ashes under several feet of concrete at the bottom of the deepest crater on the dark side of the moon. The FBI doesn’t need a politician at the helm, it needs a law enforcement officer who puts country first; who puts justice first; who puts the law first.

Which leads me to a larger point.

With the advent of the Tea Party Movement, we have seen a glaring spotlight shine upon the elected class and their two-faced political scheming, false promises and spendthrift ways. The Tea Party has commenced to holding accountable those elected to public office; those elected to serve the people of our country. And while this move was sorely overdue – and while it is proving effective – it is simply a return to the oversight responsibility mandated by the very existence of the U.S. Constitution. Anyone patting themselves on the back for what the Tea Party has accomplished and is doing doesn’t get that the movement is simply a return to what we were supposed to be doing all along.

That said, our nation has allowed the federal government to become too large, too intricate, to complicated and too layered. It has grown to be unwieldy and unaccountable; a behemoth elitist entity employing cronyism and arrogance that regenerates itself from within. Part of that arrogance and regeneration is the continuous appointment of people to important and sensitive positions from “inside the club”; from within the “ruling class.” Harvard, Yale and other Ivy League graduates who have moved through the higher education system to knowingly and disingenuously feed from the taxpayer funded public trough – and all of the special interest opportunity feed bags that the federal government affords in its current form – have served to destroy ethics in American government, not to mention public trust, while navigating to a polar opposite position from the governmental principles used to create our Charters of Freedom; from the government intended by our Framers.

No! No more Gorelicks! No more charlatans seeking to enrich themselves through political gamesmanship. $26,466,834 in income in just four years for bundling sub-prime mortgages and setting up the financial collapse of an industry? A complete lack of transparency toward her role in the single most significant terrorist attack on US soil; an attack that extinguished the lives of over 3,000 people? And now she’s on the short list to be the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation? Are you kidding me?!

That she would be included on this list says quite a bit about those who included her. Even more, her refusal to exempt herself from consideration says quite a bit about Jamie Gorelick.

In These Days of Heightened Islamic Terror Threats, Why Did the FBI Allow a Hamas Operative Into Our Most Secretive Counter-Terror Facilities?

Read the article below and after shaking your head, ask yourself if these guys in the FBI are that much a bunch of bumbling idiots or was this staged on purpose. We seemed to see the FBI execute the arrests of Hutaree militia quite expertly a number of months ago, yet they allow a known islamic terrorist into their very midst to take notes on how we battle his very organization?!!!

It’s one thing that the FBI allowed a known Hamas operative into a six week program that included tours of top-secret areas of our National Counterterrorism Center; it’s a whole other situation when they try and deny it.

Last Monday an article by Patrick S. Poole on Big Peace.com exposed the sheer stupidity of our current administration and the FBI in particular. The article titled ‘FBI Escorts Known Hamas Operative Through Top-Secret National Counterterrorism Center as “Outreach” to Muslim Community’ was an interesting follow-up to a story that had aired and been posted a day earlier on WLS Channel 7 in Chicago.

The Big Peace article pointed out that reporter Ben Bradley of WLS had done a story on a six week “Citizen’s Academy” program hosted by the FBI in which he accompanied the participants into the top-secret National Counterterrorism Center and other secure government facilities, including the FBI’s training center at Quantico.

As Patrick Poole of Big Peace noted, part of the WLS story ran as follows:

“Sheik Kifah Mustapha, who runs the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, asked some of the most pointed questions during the six week FBI Citizens’ Academy and trip to Washington. He pushed agents to fully explain everything from the bureau’s use of deadly force policy to racial and ethnic profiling. “I saw a very interesting side of what the FBI does and I wanted to know more,” Sheik Mustapha explained after returning from D.C. He hopes the FBI’s outreach runs deeper than positive public relations”.

This was important as Poole explained:

“Yes, I bet he wanted to know everything about the FBI’s policies.

Curiously, Bradley’s report on the Citizen’s Academy fails to make note Mustapha’s extensive terrorist ties and support for Hamas, including his former employment with the Holy Land Foundation, which was listed as a specially designated terrorist group by the U.S. government in December 2001, and whose executives were convicted of terrorism support in 2008 and sentenced to lengthy prison terms. Mustapha was personally named unindicted co-conspirator (#31) in the case and employment records submitted by federal prosecutors during the trial showed that he received more than $154,000 for his work for the Holy Land Foundation between 1996 and 2000.”

So who is this Sheik Kifah Mustapha really? Patrick Poole’s article further explained:

“During the trial, FBI Special Agent Lara Burns testified that Mustapha also sang in a band sponsored by the Holy Land Foundation that regularly featured songs dedicated to killing Jews and glorifying Hamas. In a deposition he gave in a civil trial concerned with the murder of a Chicago teenager killed by Hamas while waiting for a bus in Israel, Mustapha admitted that he was the registered agent for the Holy Land Foundation in Illinois, and also to his involvement with other Hamas front groups, including the Islamic Association for Palestine. He was later hired as an imam by the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, which the Chicago Tribune reported in 2004 has long been a hotbed of Hamas support.
Bradley’s omission of this information about Kifah Mustapha in his report on Sunday is all the more curious since his own station aired an extensive investigative report of Mustapha’s terrorist ties earlier this year.

The WLS investigation into Mustapha’s terrorist ties was prompted by a report published by the Investigative Project on Terrorism in January, which noted that Mustapha had been selected and trained as a chaplain by the Illinois State Police despite his documented terrorist support. The State Police eventually withdrew Mustapha’s appointment as chaplain and just last month he filed a lawsuit against the agency claiming discrimination. He was aided in this claim by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, another FBI-identified Hamas front group.”

Mustapha and his work with Hamas were obviously well known by the FBI, by his own admission from court documents during the Holy Land trial:

Prosecutor: Were you ever an employee of the Holy Land Foundation?
Mustapha: Yes.
Prosecutor: When did you stop being an employee of HLF?
Mustapha: The time it was put on halt by the government. Somewhere in 2001.
Prosecutor: And when did you begin working for Holy Land?
Mustapha: As I remember, it might be either '95 or '96.
Prosecutor: And what was your title?
Mustapha: I was basically the registered agent for HLF (Holy Land Foundation) in Illinois.
Prosecutor: And what duties did that position entail?
Mustapha: Conduct soliciting money for the various programs that HLF had.

In court documents Mustapha was listed under the heading as:

“The following are individuals/entities who are and/or were members of the US Muslim Brotherhood's Palestine Committee and/or its organizations”.

Prosecutors in the case described the Brotherhood as "an international Islamic fundamentalist organization" that is "committed to the globalization of Islam through social engineering and violent jihad."

The U.S. Department of State lists on their website Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTO), Hamas is number 13 on the list of FTO, the reason it is not higher on the list is only due to the fact that the list is alphabetical.

In an article by Steve Emerson back in June “Illinois Police Withdraw Offer to Islamist Chaplain” Emerson pointed out:

“Mustapha not only was a fundraiser for HLF, he was on their payroll.”

His article continued by even quoting the Judge in the HLF trial:

“In addition to persuading 12 jurors, the evidence convinced the presiding judge of the defendants' guilt. ‘The purpose of creating the Holy Land Foundation was as a fundraising arm for Hamas,’ Judge Jorge Solis said just before sentencing the defendants a year ago.”

Lastly he explained how the Illinois State Police revoked his appointment to be their Muslim Chaplin due to his ties:

“Mustapha was not charged with a crime. In March, however, the Illinois State Police acknowledged that they were reviewing Mustapha's appointment. On Friday, officials told him he would not be accepted into the program.”

As if allowing this individual with Hamas ties into these top-secret areas wasn’t enough, it was about to get worse.

On Wednesday, September 29 ACT! for America sent out the Big Peace article in a mass email to its 150,000 members. The ACT email asked its members to:

“Let their voice be heard; Contact the national FBI office to register your strong disapproval of this and demand an investigation as to how this could have happened. Phone: 202/324-3000.”

The following day, ACT sent out another email that stated:

“many encountered belligerent FBI officials who berated them, insisted the story was a “lie” and a “fabrication,” and in at least two instances made snide, derogatory comments about ACT! for America.

After we had received numerous emails and some phone calls from ACT! members describing the shameful way they were treated, a member of our staff placed a call to the FBI and was told that the story was a “fabrication” and that the photo of the tour participants was ‘doctored’.”

The photo that the FBI claimed to be “doctored” is at the top of this article and shows Sheik Kifah Mustapha (front row, second on left) touring the National Counterterrorism Center on September 14th.

I personally spoke with three people who contacted the FBI and all were treated in a nasty, disparaging manner, told the story was false and in one case was even hung up on.

So now the FBI attempts to back pedal and say this never occurred? The WLS had more than one picture of Sheik Kifah Mustapha, they had quotes in the story from him as noted above and the FBI claims the story was “a fabrication”?

According to the FBI website under the tab “What we investigate” is listed the following:

National Security Priorities

1. Counterterrorism

• International Terrorism
• Domestic Terrorism
• Weapons of Mass Destruction

Number one is terrorism? Really? Hmmm. Is that done by bringing terror supporters directly to the agents in the National Counterterrorism Center?

Later, that very same day, September 30, Big Peace.com posted the following:

UPDATE: This afternoon, FBI spokesman Paul Bresson confirmed to Fox News that Mustapha’s tour of the NCTC did in fact happen, confirming our initial report, but defended including him in the FBI Citizen Academy program, saying that “he’s a prominent figure in the community.”

FBI spokesman Paul Bresson is either smarter than those at the FBI that answered all those calls or perhaps he just never got the memo to deny that they had allowed this known Hamas operative on a six week “Academy”.

Who at the FBI made the decision to allow Sheik Mustapha to attend this “Citizens Academy” knowing his past connections with Hamas? Who within the FBI also then decided to try and deny its occurrence altogether?

I have written numerous articles on how our current administration seems to be dangerously ignoring the threat of Islamic terror. This ties the hands of those employed to protect us by removing words from the Administrations vocabulary and re-writing the National Security Strategy.

At this point it has gone far beyond dangerous and stupid. Has our current administration gone so far beyond tying the hands of our Homeland Security agencies as to just open the doors to the inner workings of our counterterror to the terrorists themselves?

When I wrote about the “Muslim outreach” agenda and NASA I explained one of my concerns:

“First, do we really want the Muslim world to have the technology of space travel? That same technology is what is used for ICBMs (Inter Continental Ballistic Missiles). If you can send something in to space, you then have the same technology to send a missile from the Middle East to the U.S. Do I need to remind anyone of Iran’s Ahmadinejad’s aspiration to bomb the “Big Devil”? Do we really want to invite Muslim countries into NASA with open arms? We might as well have our arms raised above our heads instead.”

Now, our “Muslim outreach” has reached new heights, or should I say a new low?

It is inconceivable that anyone in the FBI would allow a man who is on terrorist watch lists and who failed an Illinois police background check because of known Hamas ties, tour the top-secret National Counterterrorism Center. If this story had been written as a fiction novel, no publisher would have bothered to print it.

Creeping Sharia and stealth Jihad, exploiting our good will and our Constitution is going to be the death of this country as we know unless we force drastic change.

I recall a saying from WWII that was posted everywhere in the U.S. “Loose lips sink ships”. Those posters didn’t have to say “inviting the enemy on the ship is worse” because evidently our administration and its agencies were smarter back then.

FBI Director, Mueller, Makes Statement That American Right Wing Extremists Are As Threatening As Al Qaeda

The American people continue to be set up for an era of state control as now, even the Director of the FBI, Robert Mueller, has come out and compared the threat of right wing extremists and militias in America with that of islamic terror groups like al Qaeda. So that makes two references to this in just a couple of days - we had ex-President Bill Clinton flapping his gums about the dangers of all of the "Timothy McVeighs" roaming around America and now the head of the FBI setting the stage for what has to be viewed as a threat to keep Americans with any sort of dissent against a Marxist takeover of our country, in check.

I'm hoping that everyone is reading the writing on the wall here. The stage is being set. And yes, I firmly believe this is 100% political in nature.

Let me say one thing to FBI Director Muller: If you are foolish enough to put your name to statements like this while the evidence in our country shows HUNDREDS of al Qaeda and islamic terror plots in this country and actual terror attacks that have killed thousands of Americans, then don't be surprised if it all comes back as egg on your face. It's my experience that most Americans don't like to be shoved around by a totalitarian government - we don't tolerate tyranny. And I'm not talking about a group of men in the middle of the woods in a northern Michigan locale - I'm talking about steel workers in Pittsburgh, housewives in Colorado, businessmen in North Carolina and Marines serving in Afghanistan.

Janet Napolitano was crucified for her Homeland Security memo targeting right wing extremists and military veterans ....so now, apparently Robert Mueller wants to join the circus. One other thing Mueller...even though you might feel comfortable because Bill Clinton started this little witch hunt, you will more than likely find yourself on that same little island that Napolitano found herself on, fighting every day to keep her job...and in the end, losing all credibility with the American people and all American law enforcement.

One other thing I'd like to add. This warning, or as I see it, a threat is based upon what the FBI calls "recent upsurge in anti-government rhetoric." Well, WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU EXPECT YOU FUCKING MORONS?!!!! We have a Federal government that has: taken over the banking industry in America, taken over the car industry in America, taken over the healthcare industry in America, and wants to take over the energy industry in America and the whole time has ripped our Constitution into shreds and YOU EXPECT US TO BEND OVER AND TAKE THIS MOVE TO MARXIST SOCIALISM UP OUR ASSES?!!! In the history of the United States of America, we have never seen the tyrannical takeover by the centralized Federal government like we are now - not even close to it and it "shocks" people like Bill Clinton and Robert Mueller??? Perhaps that is why Bill Clinton had impeachment charges enacted on him and why Mueller will end up parking cars at a Virginia hotel in a year.

We are being set up folks. The message is clear: either fall in line with the Marxist mandate of Obama and the thugs of D.C.'s federal government or find yourself in a federal prison or FEMA camp.

Mueller: Home-Grown Extremists as Threatening as Al Qaeda


The warning, from the FBI Director, Robert Mueller, came as the former President Clinton drew parallels between the Oklahoma City tragedy and a recent upsurge in anti-government rhetoric.


Fifteen years after the Oklahoma City bombing, the specter of domestic terrorism has returned to haunt the Obama administration, with a warning from the FBI that “home-grown and lone-wolf extremists” now represent as serious a threat as Al Qaeda and its affiliates, The Times reported on Saturday.

The warning, from the FBI Director, Robert Mueller, came as the former President Clinton drew parallels between the Oklahoma City tragedy and a recent upsurge in anti-government rhetoric, while American television audiences heard Timothy McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber, describe the “absolute rage” that drove him to plan an attack that killed 168 men, women and children.

An FBI spokesman said Friday that Mueller was referring to right-wing extremist groups and anti-government militias, as well as American Islamists, in his testimony to the Senate committee that must approve the FBI’s $8.3 billion budget.

Last month federal agents arrested nine members of a Christian militia based in Michigan, calling itself the Hutaree. They have been charged with plotting to murder local police with a stash of guns, knives and grenades.

Since the passage of President Obama’s health reforms, the FBI has also made arrests in Seattle and San Francisco after death threats were sent to Democratic senators.

“It’s one thing to express dissatisfaction with the Government but once you cross the line with a violent threat, that’s a violation that we take extremely seriously,” Bill Carter, the bureau’s spokesman, said.

The Oklahoma bombing was followed by an exhaustive civilian trial in which McVeigh became a hate figure to most but a hero to some members of the survivalist fringe on which he was radicalized.

He was executed in 2001, but not before granting 45 hours of death-row interviews to the authors of a book, American Terrorist, whose tapes will be broadcast for the first time on Monday.

McVeigh never confessed to the bombing in court but he appears to do so on the tapes.

“I feel no shame for it,” he says. “This was something that I saw as a larger good, and I know that, as I analyzed the history of not just the U.S., but all nations throughout the history of mankind. People have killed for what they believed was the greater good, and it’s accepted. Sometimes killing is accepted.”

The White House was careful to emphasize that the threat of external terrorism remained acute but senior officials are privately confident that military operations in Afghanistan are going well and putting Al Qaeda on the back foot.

Few people in Washington are as confident about the domestic threat.

Former CIA Director Talks About How Wrong Obama Administration Is On Handling Terrorism

You know, this article at the Washington Post would be a good one if it was written by any terrorism expert but the fact that it is written by the former CIA Director, Michael Hayden, makes it not only good and accurate but earth-shattering in a way. Hayden details some of the major mistakes that the Obama administration has made in their approach to the War on Terror such as this:

We got it wrong in Detroit on Christmas Day. We allowed an enemy combatant the protections of our Constitution before we had adequately interrogated him. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is not "an isolated extremist." He is the tip of the spear of a complex al-Qaeda plot to kill Americans in our homeland.
In the 50 minutes the FBI had to question him, agents reportedly got actionable intelligence. Good. But were there any experts on al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in the room (other than Abdulmutallab)? Was there anyone intimately familiar with any National Security Agency raw traffic to, from or about the captured terrorist? Did they have a list or photos of suspected recruits?

What articles like this are beginning to point out is the fear that many Americans had prior to the election of Barack Hussein Obama - that this guy simply didn't have the experience or the intestinal fortitude to protect this country of America.
I could make a case that Obama has an overall lack of concern or focus in defending America while people like Hayden substantiate that he doesn't have the competence to defend our people.

Barack Hussein Obama was right when he admitted that the buck stops with him on all of this - the fact that Janet Napolitano is in so far over her head doesn't place the ultimate blame on her but echoes the fact that Obama has made horrible choices in setting up his national defense team. And yet, after the litany of mistakes and strategic faults by members of the Obama administration in regards to fighting terrorism, not a single official has been fired by Obama ...and that speaks to my point that Obama, himself, simply doesn't care about it.

In the war on terrorism, this country faces an enemy whose theory of warfare ends the hard-won distinction in modern thought between combatant and noncombatant. In doing that for which we have created government -- ensuring life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness -- how can we be adequately aggressive to ensure the first value, without unduly threatening the other two? This is hard. And people don't have to be lazy or stupid to get it wrong.

We got it wrong in Detroit on Christmas Day. We allowed an enemy combatant the protections of our Constitution before we had adequately interrogated him. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is not "an isolated extremist." He is the tip of the spear of a complex al-Qaeda plot to kill Americans in our homeland.

But were there any experts on al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula in the room (other than Abdulmutallab)? Was there anyone intimately familiar with any National Security Agency raw traffic to, from or about the captured terrorist? Did they have a list or photos of suspected recruits?

When questioning its detainees, the CIA routinely turns the information provided over to its experts for verification and recommendations for follow-up. The responses of these experts -- "Press him more on this, he knows the details" or "First time we've heard that" -- helps set up more detailed questioning.

None of that happened in Detroit. In fact, we ensured that it wouldn't. After the first session, the FBI Mirandized Abdulmutallab and -- to preserve a potential prosecution -- sent in a "clean team" of agents who could have no knowledge of what Abdulmutallab had provided before he was given his constitutional warnings. As has been widely reported, Abdulmutallab then exercised his right to remain silent.

In retrospect, the inadvisability of this approach seems self-evident. Perhaps it didn't appear that way on Dec. 25 because we have, over the past year, become acclimated to certain patterns of thought.

Two days after his inauguration, President Obama issued an executive order that limited all interrogations by the U.S. government to the techniques authorized in the Army Field Manual. The CIA had not seen the final draft of the order, let alone been allowed to comment, before it was issued. I thought that odd since the order was less a legal document -- there was no claim that the manual exhausted the universe of lawful techniques -- than a policy one: These particular lawful techniques would be all that the country would need, at least for now.

A similar drama unfolded in April over the release of Justice Department memos that had authorized the CIA interrogation program. CIA Director Leon Panetta and several of his predecessors opposed public release of the memos in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit on the only legitimate grounds for such a stand: that the documents were legitimately still classified and their release would gravely harm national security. On this policy -- not legal -- question, the president sided with his attorney general rather than his CIA chief.

In August, seemingly again in contradiction to the president's policy of not looking backward and over the objections of the CIA, Justice pushed to release the CIA inspector general's report on the interrogation program. Then Justice decided to reopen investigations of CIA officers that had been concluded by career prosecutors years ago, even though Panetta and seven of his predecessors said that doing so would be unfair, unwarranted and harmful to the agency's current mission.

In November, Justice announced that it intended to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and several others in civilian courts for the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. The White House made clear that this was a Justice Department decision, which is odd because the decision was not legally compelled (other detainees are to be tried by military commissions) and the reasons given for making it (military trials could serve as a recruitment tool for al-Qaeda, harm relations with allies, etc.) were not legal but political.

Even tough government organizations, such as those in the intelligence community, figure out pretty quickly what their political masters think is not acceptable behavior. The executive order that confined interrogations to the Army Field Manual also launched a task force to investigate whether those techniques were sufficient for national needs. Few observers believed that the group would recommend changes, and to date, no techniques have been added to the manual.

Intelligence officers need to know that someone has their back. After the Justice memos were released in April, CIA officers began to ask whether the people doing things that were currently authorized would be dragged through this kind of public knothole in five years. No one could guarantee that they would not.

Some may celebrate that the current Justice Department's perspective on the war on terrorism has become markedly more dominant in the past year. We should probably understand the implications of that before we break out the champagne. That apparently no one recommended on Christmas Day that Abdulmutallab be handled, at least for a time, as an enemy combatant should be concerning. That our director of national intelligence, Denny Blair, bravely said as much during congressional testimony this month is cause for hope.

Actually, Blair suggested that the High Value Detainee Interrogation Group (HIG), announced by the administration in August, should have been called in. A government spokesman later pointed out that the group does not yet exist.

There's a final oddity. In August, the government unveiled the HIG for questioning al-Qaeda and announced that the FBI would begin questioning CIA officers about the alleged abuses in the 2004 inspector general's report. They are apparently still getting organized for the al-Qaeda interrogations. But the interrogations of CIA personnel are well underway.

U.S. Hellfire Finds Palestinian Terrorist In Pakistan, On FBI Wanted List For 1986 Hijacking

It can often be a surprise who the U.S. leaves dead on the ground after a hellfire missile strike from a predator drone in North Waziristan, Pakistan and on January 9th, that was no exception as it was discovered that one of the dead bodies was that of Jamal Saeed Abdul Rahim, a terrorist with links to al Qaeda who was on a wanted list of the FBI for his role in the bloody hijacking of an airline flight in 1986.

The intelligence officials said a Jan. 9 missile strike in the North Waziristan tribal region killed Jamal Saeed Abdul Rahim. The FBI's Web site lists him as a Palestinian with possible Lebanese citizenship. The Pakistani officials called him an al-Qaida member, but the FBI site says he was a member of the Abu Nidal Palestinian terrorist group.
Rahim is wanted for his alleged role in the Sept. 5, 1986, hijacking of Pan American World Airways Flight 73 during a stop in the southern Pakistani city of Karachi, according to the FBI site.
The hijackers demanded that 1,500 prisoners in Cyprus and Israel be released and that they be flown out of Pakistan. At one point, the hijackers shot and threw hand grenades at passengers and crew in one part of the plane. Some 20 people, including two Americans, died during the hijacking.

Rahim was one of the long list of Pakistani prisoners over the years that "escaped" and amazingly, all these years later a hellfire missile decides to enforce his conviction. At the same time, this all proves that North Waziristan is home to some of the world's biggest misfits and if the Pakistanis would make the decision to finally gut this area of the filth, it would be amazing to see who is actually holed up there.

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Pakistan (AP) – A US missile strike in Pakistan killed one of the FBI's most-wanted terrorists, a man suspected in a deadly 1986 plane hijacking with a $5 million bounty on his head, three Pakistani intelligence officials yesterday.
The death would be the latest victory for the CIA-led missile campaign against militant targets in Pakistan's insurgent-riddled tribal belt bordering Afghanistan, a campaign that has recently escalated. One Thursday is believed to have missed Pakistan's Taliban chief.
The intelligence officials said a Jan. 9 missile strike in the North Waziristan tribal region killed Jamal Saeed Abdul Rahim. The FBI's Web site lists him as a Palestinian with possible Lebanese citizenship. Rahim had been tried and convicted by Pakistan, but he and three suspected accomplices were apparently released in January 2008. All four were added to the FBI list late last year.
The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment yesterday. The three Pakistani intelligence officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they lacked authority to speak to media on the record. They cited field informants and sources in militant ranks.
But the information is nearly impossible to verify independently because access to Pakistan's tribal regions is restricted.
North Waziristan is considered a key sanctuary for a range of militant groups, including al-Qaida and factions focused on battling the US in Afghanistan. Pakistan has been resisting mounting US pressure to wage an army offensive in the region.
In the meantime, the US has been pounding it with missiles — at least nine strikes have taken place in the past two weeks.
Four of the drone-fired missiles landed yesterday in the Zarniri area of North Waziristan, killing three people. The area is near where a strike Thursday killed 12 people but is thought to have missed its apparent target, Pakistani Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud.
A purported audiotape of Mehsud denying his death emerged yesterday but contained no specific reference to the missile strike.
The lack of a reference to Thursday's strike means the tape could have been recorded prior, possibly to keep the Pakistani Taliban united in case Mehsud was incapacitated. Militants have in the past given misleading information about who lived and who died.
"Propaganda is spreading through the media that Hakimullah has been martyred, and propaganda is spreading that the operation in South Waziristan has successfully concluded. It can never happen," Mehsud said in the Pashto language on the audio recording.
Another Pakistani Taliban militant played the audiotape for the AP reporter in a landline phone call, which the reporter recorded. The reporter recognized the voice as Mehsud's.
Intelligence officials have said Pakistani Taliban chief Hakimullah Mehsud appeared to have escaped the strike, while a local Taliban commander also denied rising speculation yesterday that Mehsud was wounded.
"I can confirm that our emir, Hakimullah Mehsud, is alive. He is not wounded. He is leading the fighters in South Waziristan," said the commander, Omar Khatab, in a walkie-talkie conversation with an Associated Press reporter.
Killing Mehsud would be a major victory for both Washington and Islamabad.
Under the 28-year-old's watch, militant attacks in Pakistan have soared since October, even as the army has waged an offensive against the Pakistani Taliban in South Waziristan tribal region. Mehsud also appeared on a recent video with the Jordanian militant who killed seven CIA employees in a December suicide attack in Afghanistan.
Mehsud's predecessor, fellow tribesman Baitullah Mehsud, died in a missile strike last August in South Waziristan. For nearly three weeks, militants denied his death even as US and Pakistani officials said they were increasingly confident of it.
The Pakistani Taliban appeared in disarray for those initial weeks following Baitullah Mehsud's death, with several reports emerging of a power struggle between Hakimullah Mehsud and the man who eventually became his deputy, Waliur Rehman.
In public, Pakistani government officials criticize the missile strikes and say the United States is violating their country's sovereignty. But there is little doubt Islamabad agrees to at least some of the attacks and provides targeting information for them.
