Moroccan Woman Beaten, Stripped and Stoned For Wearing Too Short of a Skirt

Apparently, if you're a woman in Morocco, you best be watching the length of your hem line around certain Muslim sects in the country as a Moroccan woman, accused of wearing way too short of a skirt, was beaten, stripped and then stoned for the offense to Mo.

A Moroccan woman was reportedly stripped off her clothes in broad daylight after an ultra-conservative Islamist sect deemed her attire to be "too revealing" and not in line with religious code of conduct in the country.

The young woman, whose name and age remains undisclosed, was said to have been beaten and stoned for wearing a "short dress" at a market place in the city of Rabat, reported North African news website Magharebia. It was not known when the incident had happened.

The assault was reportedly carried out by Salafists, an extremist group who in recent years are believed to have a link with Al-Qaeda. The attack reportedly came on the heels of an announcement made by Quran reciter Abu Zeid, who called for a particular day to be consigned to "chastity and modesty", the report said.

The incident fuelled outrage among several human support organizations, especially women's right groups, who condemned the attack and brought to light the deficit in women's freedom in the country. Many Moroccans even took to Facebook to decry the assault and necessitate the increased protection of personal liberties, the publication said.

In more and more of these Muslim countries that you would probably view as "moderate" or even "secular" we are seeing this new found reverting back to the fundamentalist view of Islam - we are seeing more and more of these types of incidents where Salafi-like groups are stepping up to enforce their vision of the fake religion.  You see in the article how many in the country are outraged by the treatment of this woman but I ask the question...."who is winning out in the end in these countries?"   I think we all know the answer to that question.

"It may not end in stripping the girl off her clothing, but the verbal and physical harassment that women may experience is sometimes more heinous and horrible".

The incident also drew Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane's attention. Benkirane reportedly said, "Individual liberties are sacred and are not to be touched".

Prior to becoming prime minister, Benkirane had said in statement that he "will never ask if a woman is wearing a short skirt or a long skirt."

Baghdad-based rights organization Beit Al-Hikma cited "a government headed by an Islamic party" as perpetuators of the attack, and that the incident "would block the move towards democracy, freedoms and the rule of law".

With over 98 percent of the population being Muslims, Morocco imposes idealistic concepts of Islam on its women population. These women, however, enjoy far more rights compared to women in other Muslim-dominated countries, and hold positions in several jobs strictly designated for men, according to the Professional Women's Network.

Good grief. Welcome back to the Dark Ages, folks. The fact that this story is being reported in the year 2012 is beyond belief as a 16 year old Moroccan girl was forced by a court order to marry the man that brutally raped her opted out for killing herself with rat poison.

Angry Moroccans are demanding a change to the country's strict Islamic penal code after a 16-year-old girl killed herself after being forced to marry her rapist.

An online petition, a Facebook page and countless tweets expressed horror over the suicide of Amina Filali, who swallowed rat poison on Saturday in protest at her marriage to the man who raped her a year earlier.

Article 475 of the Moroccan penal code allows for the 'kidnapper' of a minor to marry his victim to escape prosecution, and it has been used to justify a traditional practice of making a rapist marry his victim to preserve the honour of the woman's family.

'Amina, 16, was triply violated, by her rapist, by tradition and by Article 475 of the Moroccan law,' tweeted activist Abadila Maaelaynine.

Just how many dead bodies of little girls across this globe need to stack up for the "honor" of Mohammed? Just how many women need to be carted off in death wagons because of the perverted view of females by the author of the Qur'an?

Oh yeah, the Moroccans are all upset about this law now...I don't hear any outrage about the other 1,382 perversions put forth by Islam that the world has to live with each and every day.

Abdelaziz Nouaydi, who runs the Adala Assocation for legal reform, said a judge can recommend marriage only in the case of agreement by the victim and both families.

'It is not something that happens a great deal - it is very rare,' he said, but admitted that the family of the victim sometimes agrees out of fear that she won't be able to find a husband if it is known she was raped.

The marriage is then pushed on the victim by the families to avoid scandal, said Fouzia Assouli, president of Democratic League for Women's Rights.

'It is unfortunately a recurring phenomenon,' she said.'We have been asking for years for the cancellation of Article 475 of the penal code which allows the rapist to escape justice.'

The victim's father said in an interview with an online Moroccan newspaper that it was the court officials who suggested from the beginning the marriage option when they reported the rape.

'The prosecutor advised my daughter to marry, he said 'go and make the marriage contract'," said Lahcen Filali in an interview that appeared on goud.ma Tuesday night.

In many societies, the loss of a woman's virginity outside of wedlock is a huge stain of honour on the family.

In many parts of the Middle East, there is a tradition whereby a rapist can escape prosecution if he marries his victim, thereby restoring her honour. There is a similar injunction in the Old Testament's Book of Deuteronomy

Morocco updated its family code in 2004 in a landmark improvement of the situation of women, but activists say there's still room for improvement.

In cases of rape, the burden of proof is often on the victim and if she can't prove she was attacked, a woman risks being prosecuted for debauchery.

'In Morocco, the law protects public morality but not the individual,' said Assouli, adding that legislation outlawing all forms of violence against women, including rape within marriage, has been stuck in the government since 2006.

According to the father's interview, the girl was accosted on the street and raped when she was 15, but it was two months before she told her parents.

He said the court pushed the marriage, even though the perpetrator initially refused. He only consented when faced with prosecution. The penalty for rape is between five and 10 years in prison, but rises to 10 to 20 in the case of a minor.

He said Amina complained to her mother that her husband was beating her repeatedly during the five months of marriage but that her mother counselled patience.

A Facebook page called 'We are all Amina Filali' has been formed and an online petition calling for Morocco to end the practice of marrying rapists and their victims has already gathered more than 1,000 signatures.

The incident throws more light on the way women are treated in Islamic countries.

Last year a woman in Afghanistan, 21-year-old Gulnaz, was jailed for 'adultery by force' after she was brutally raped by her husband's cousin.

Her attacker was jailed for seven years for the crime that left her pregnant.

A global outrage saw the President of Afghanistan personally pardoning her and releasing her from Kabul's Badam Bagh jail, with no pre-conditions.

Al Qaeda's Newest Terror Bombing Trick...Dress the Bomber Up As a Hippie!

Good grief. If you recall, back at the end of April, an islamic terrorist walked into a cafe' in Morocco which is known to be frequented mostly by Western tourists and leaving a bomb(s) that went off after he left and the aftermath revealed 17 killed. Al Qaeda has denied doing the bombing, but new light has been shed on the guy that left the bombs.

Adel al Othmani reportedly entered the cafe on April 28 in Marrakesh - Morocco's top tourist destination - heavily disguised and carrying a guitar.

"He walked into the cafe wearing a wig and carrying a guitar and the two bags where he hid the explosive devices," an unnamed source told Reuters news agency. "He looked like a hippie.

"He ordered an orange juice before leaving the cafe and behind him the two bags.

"He used a mobile phone to detonate the bombs afterwards."

Three men have been arrested in connection with the blast in bustling Jamaa el-Fna square, including al Othmani.

Okay, so we in the West have had to adjust to al Qaeda switching from male attackers to female attackers to child attackers to mentally disabled attackers to .....now hippies? Now, al Qaeda has denied this attack and there may be some truth to that in that I have rarely seen an al Qaeda bombing like this done without a suicide element - an al Qaeda jihadi rarely wants to live through it and either has the bomb on his body or is driving a VBIED.

But either way, we see the resourcefulness of the islamic terrorists - this was the kind of crowd at this cafe' that would have noticed a traditionally dressed Muslim...but this guy walks in like some sort of "westernized" dude and I'm sure fit in much better.

One thing we have to give the terrorists is a constantly evolving way of killing people...bombs in shoes, bombs in underwear, hippies carrying bombs, putting bombs inside of dead donkeys alongside a road....it's nearly limitless what these clowns come up with.

The atrocity adds to the challenges facing King Mohammed as his previously stable kingdom battles to prevent uprisings similar to those elsewhere in the Arab world.

A series of demonstrations have been held in recent weeks with the protesters demanding regime change and greater democratic freedom.

The government has responded by offering public sector workers a pay rise, reform of the constitution and greater independence for the judiciary.

Protesters have accused it of trying to use the bomb attack to raise fears of instability and dissuade people from taking to the streets.

Al Qaeda Suicide Bomber Hits Cafe' In Morocco Full of Infidels, 14 Are Dead

Islamic terror reared its ugly head again today in a major way when a cafe' in the Moroccan city of Marrakesh was the target of an al Qaeda suicide bomber - when the dust, blood and guts had settled, 14 people (11 of which were tourists) were dead and over 20 people were wounded. Make note of the fact that this cafe' was hit primarily due to the high traffic of western infidels that frequent it - this is a hallmark of al Qaeda.

Let's face it...Morocco is ripe with radical islam...it's ripe with terrorists who usually offer their services outside of this terror appeasing country. Morocco is full of islamists who are waiting to go back and conquer Spain, for pete's sake. The only reason we are seeing a terror attack in Morocco today is because al Qaeda saw a chance to take out a bunch of infidels - a reminder to those of us in the West that we are not welcome in a muslim country.

So, 14 people will be buried in the next week. Some will have to be shipped thousands of miles back to their grieving families. Why? Because Islam must be the only "religion." Because Islam means submission. Submit or die. Those are the choices they give us. Or should it be...submit, die or fight back and win?

The explosion blew much of the facade off the two-story terracotta-colored Argana cafe, leaving awnings dangling. Panicked passersby dragged away bodies and tried to put out flames with fire extinguishers, witnesses told The Associated Press.

"I believe the injured were mostly tourists, judging by what they were wearing," Alexandre Carvalho, a 34-year-old call center worker from southern Portugal, told the AP by telephone.

At least two French nationals were among the casualties, although it was not immediately clear whether they were dead or wounded, judicial officials in the French capital said. President Nicolas Sarkozy confirmed that the victims included French citizens.

UK Foreign Secretary William Hague said the British ambassador was travelling to Marrakesh, although he gave no immediate confirmation of British casualties.

This former French colony has enjoyed relative stability and political plurality compared to some of its neighbors, but King Mohamed VI holds the final say in all policy, and the country's largest Islamist movement is banned from politics.

The king has pledged constitutional reforms in response to several largely peaceful protests over the past two months that were inspired by popular uprisings that pushed out autocrats in nearby Tunisia and Egypt.

Germany, which said none of its citizens had been hit, urged that the attack "must not lead to the reform process that has been initiated in Morocco being undermined."

Al-Qaida's affiliate in North Africa stages regular attacks and kidnappings in neighboring Algeria. Al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb is holding four Frenchmen hostage after kidnapping them in Niger last year, and recently released new images and audio recordings of their voices.

Morocco, however, has been mostly peaceful since it was hit by five simultaneous terrorist bombings in Casablanca in 2003 that killed 33 people and a dozen bombers linked to the Moroccan Islamic Combatant Group, a local militant group also been implicated in the deadly transit attacks in Madrid in March 2004.

In April 2007, two suicide bombers died in attacks by the U.S. consulate in Casablanca, the economic capital.

Moroccan authorities have rounded up thousands of purported terror suspects in recent years and while they "regularly discover terrorist cells ... nothing led us to foresee an act of this magnitude," Naciri said.

"Morocco has an international image of welcome, hospitality and tourism," he told the AP. "An act of this magnitude will leave its mark."

Morocco Expels Americans For Trying To Convert Muslims To Christianity

A number of Americans were part of a larger group of workers from a charitable organization called Village of Hope that were kicked out of Morocco this week for supposedly trying to convert Moroccans to Christianity.

To put this in perspective, let's look at this from the article at Breitbart:

Islam is Morocco's official religion—one of King Mohammed VI's titles is Commander of the Faithful—and Christian evangelism is banned. Periodic expulsions for it have taken place in the past.

You get that? It's the year 2010 and the government of Morocco literally has a law on the books that forbids Christian evangelism. Unbelievable. And we wonder why so many people around the world have been killed by islamic terrorists from .....yes, Morocco.

Now, I've discussed here many times just how insecure the believers of islam are - a cartoon in a Danish newspaper sent millions of them to the street worldwide screaming bloody murder and here we have a country that is so paranoid about one of its citizens being exposed to a religion that they ban it. The fact of the matter is that no religion in this world would EVER ban evangelicals from another religions. Christians have no beef with someone preaching Buddhism, Jews don't have a beef with someone preaching Hinduism and so on. It's ONLY those of islam who feel the need to protect their flock. Why?

BECAUSE ISLAM IS NOT A RELIGION. You see, the islamists know, deep down, that they worship a failed and frail ideology - one full of holes and chinks in its spiritual armor. The leaders of islam follow the same methods of operation that others have who seek to shield their followers from other points of view - not because they don't trust the flock, but because they've got a shit product.

We are exposed daily to the intolerance of islam, the violence of islam and the oppression of islam yet we, in the West, still walk on eggshells and try to include this so-called "religion" in our affairs and circles. How much exposure of this farce do we need?

US dismayed after Morocco expels Americans


PARIS (AP) - The U.S. ambassador to Morocco has expressed dismay over the expulsion of Americans accused of trying to convert Moroccans to Christianity in the North African kingdom.
The episode, involving several other foreign nationals, threatened to overshadow U.S. praise on Friday for Morocco's recent steps to improve human rights, women's rights and democracy.

A charitable group called the Village of Hope, a home for orphaned and unwanted children in northern Morocco, said Thursday that 16 of its workers were ordered on Monday to leave the country.

Islam is Morocco's official religion—one of King Mohammed VI's titles is Commander of the Faithful—and Christian evangelism is banned. Periodic expulsions for it have taken place in the past.

U.S. Ambassador Samuel Kaplan, in a message Thursday to Americans registered with the embassy, said the U.S. doesn't take issue with Moroccan law.

Kaplan expressed "our distress" about the way they were sent away. He said the Moroccan government refused a hearing for those expelled—and that "violates fundamental rules of due process." He said "a number" of Americans were involved, without specifying.

Separately, timed with the release Friday of a U.S. State Department report on human rights, Kaplan trumpeted progress in Morocco on women's rights and democracy, and "one of the strongest records in the Arab world" toward reforms that have improved human rights.

For leaders of the children's home, the expulsions were a step in the wrong direction.

According to the group's site, the home near Ain Leuh was created by two American women—Emmagene Coates and Ellen Doran—over a half-century ago. Coates died in 1995 and Doran in 2007.

Report: Minaret collapse in Morocco leaves 11 dead

RABAT, Morocco (AP) - A minaret collapsed during Friday prayers at a crowded mosque in the old town of the historic Moroccan city of Meknes, killing 11 people and injuring 50 others, the Interior Ministry said.
Officials blamed the accident on heavy rain that had weakened the minaret at the Bab Berdieyinne Mosque, according to an official communique released by the Interior Ministry.
King Mohammed VI sent the interior minister and religious affairs minister to Meknes, one of Morocco's four imperial cities, some 120 kilometers (62 miles) east of the capital Rabat.
The officials visited the injured, who had been taken to hospitals in Meknes and the nearby city of Fes. A team of psychologists also was sent.
The king has ordered the reconstruction of the mosque.
