Pakistan woman paraded with blackened face, shaved head for eloping

One of the many great sins in Islam....eloping.  Yeah, it's 2016 people.

The story comes from Times of India.

Pakistan woman paraded with blackened face, shaved head for eloping

LAHORE: A 23-year-old woman was paraded in her village streets with blackened face and shaved off head by her family members for allegedly eloping with a man, the latest in a series of 'honour' related crimes in Pakistan's Punjab province.

According to eyewitnesses, the family members including parents of the woman, on Saturday paraded her in the streets outside her house after blackening her face and shaving off her head in a village of Uch Sharif, Bahawalpur, some 400km from Lahore.

Reports said the woman who had allegedly eloped with a man of another village returned home a week later.

On her return, her family members including father, husband and step-mother reportedly tortured her secretly and then presented her before a Panchayat (a gathering of area elders) that announced punishment for her for her crime of 'dishonouring the family'.

Senior police officer Ehsan Sadiq told reporters that an FIR has been registered against 10 family members of the woman and the Panchayat members and arrested the victim's father and step-mother.

He said police would soon arrest the remaining suspects and complete investigation at the earliest.

Punjab, Pakistan's most populous state, has seen a spur in honour-related crimes, including honour killing, in recent times.

Two pregnant women have been brutally killed by their parents in last one week for contracting marriage against will of their families.

Pakistani Muslim Girl Raped By Father, Then Honor Killed By Brother

The joys of Islam - the peace, the serenity and oh yes, remember the justice and honor.

The story comes from The Express Tribune via The Religion of Peace.

‘Honour killing’: Case initiated against brother for murder

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court has disposed of an application regarding a woman’s alleged rape and murder by family members, after legal proceedings were initiated against the victim’s brother.

Sobia Aman had submitted an application to the LHC Complaints Cell stating that her friend *Sadia had left her house in Nawankot village after being sexually assaulted by her father.

The applicant said that Sadia’s relatives had persuaded her to return home at the end of May, assuring that they would not allow her to be sexually assaulted again. But a few days later, Sadia was poisoned and killed, the applicant said.

The LHC Complaints Cell instructed the Gujrat district and sessions judge to investigate the matter. He reported that Sadia had been killed by her brother due to alleged “immoral and suspicious activities”.

A case had been registered against the brother at Saddar police station in Gujrat, after Sadia’s body had been exhumed and autopsied, the judge reported.

The post mortem report and the police investigation report have been submitted to the trial court. The judge added that the allegation that Sadia had been raped by her father had not been proven.

Canadian Muslims Protest ‘Honor Killing’ Label As Racist

Those poor, poor Muslims in Canada...so doggone misunderstood!  And they just hate those nasty, nasty labels!

The story comes from Family Security Matters.

Canadian Muslims Protest ‘Honor Killing’ Label As Racist

Are they willfully misleading? Or are Canadian Muslims who are fighting federal funding to investigate honor violence in the Muslim (and other) communities simply naïve victims of the same propaganda used routinely to explain away the religio-culturally-based murders of Muslim women?

Every year, according to United Nations reports, 5,000 women worldwide are killed for reasons of "honor" that relate to matters of modesty and obeyance, though most experts maintain the numbers are far higher. And the number of victims of honor violence, which can involve beatings, acid attacks, or locking a woman in her home, is literally incalculable. In the United Kingdom alone, more than 3,000 such honor crimes occurred just in 2010, according to a study by the Iranian and Kurdish Women's Rights Organization (IKWRO). The vast majority of those crimes, the organization states, were committed by Muslims, though Sikhs and Hindus have also been known to commit honor-related crimes.

In Canada, the decision to earmark funds to combat honor violence began in 2007, after a series of honor crimes over the previous two years resulted in the deaths of two women and one man. Soon after the program was announced, on Dec. 10, 2007, the father and brother of 16-year-old Toronto native Aqsa Parvez, strangled her to death. The reason: she had refused to wear the hijab, or scarf.

Yet recently, some groups have begun speaking out against the idea of specifying these crimes as "honor killings" and providing targeted programs to address them, even as two subsequent events underscore just how urgently such funds and programs are needed.

The first of these was the 2012 conviction of Mohammad Shafia, his wife Tooba Yahya, and their son Hamed in the murder of Mohammad and Tooba's three teenage daughters and of Rona Amir Mohammad, Mohammad Shafia's other wife in a polygamous arrangement - a case that received worldwide attention. That conviction confirmed the findings of a University of Sherbrooke study released earlier that year showing an exponential increase in the number of honor killings in Canada. Only three known victims were killed between 1954 and 1983. Since 1999, 12 women have died in honor killings.

All of the murders, the study reported, took place within immigrant families. (It is worth noting that the increase may or may not reflect either the growing numbers of Muslim immigrants to Canada over the years, or a better understanding of honor crimes among law enforcement and other agencies.)

Yet according to a recent report from Women's e-News, many Canadian Muslim women now are speaking out against the government's new focus on these crimes, arguing that honor violence is no different from any other form of domestic abuse. Opponents of the idea call the projects "racist," and claim they put an unwarranted and biased focus on Muslim and Hindi families. "When women of color are killed, we ask these larger questions around their culture. We ask what's wrong with their entire people - their culture, their religion - instead of a particular person," Itrath Syed, who is pursuing a Ph.D. in "Islamophobia" in Vancouver, for instance, told Women's e-News.

What is so tragic about this remark is not just the half-dozen or so ways in which it is patently untrue, but that it seeks to nullify the horror that is honor violence, to deny the profound distinctions between honor crimes and other forms of domestic violence and femicide.

It is both absurd and disingenuous to suggest that all non-white victims and perpetrators of abuse are investigated on the basis of "culture" - particularly given the fact that the majority of Canadian domestic violence victims are Canadian Aboriginese. (In the U.S., too, most domestic abuse victims are black or Native American, yet questions of "culture" or "religion" are not addressed when dealing with those cases.) Culture doesn't excuse domestic violence whether the perpetrator is black, white or brown.

What Syed really was referring to was religion, not race. Or rather, the implication that domestic abuse in Muslim families is related to Islam, and that Muslim families are therefore treated differently than everybody else. It's a common accusation, and an ongoing question: are honor crimes culturally-based, or founded in interpretations of the Koran?

It's a bit of both, according to Carla Rus, a psychiatrist in the Netherlands who specializes in working with victims of both domestic abuse and honor violence. "Honor violence involves a kind of ideology, which you don't find in domestic violence," she points out. "In [Islamic] cultures, where church and state are not separated, it's difficult to distinguish whether honor violence comes through cultural or religious motives - culture and religion are inseparable in those cases."

Moreover, not all domestic violence occurring in Muslim families (some of whom are white) is automatically categorized as an honor crime. But call a crime what it is. When Mohammad Safia curses his daughters for "dishonoring" and "betraying Islam;" when Iraqi-American Aita Altameemi's mother burns and beats her for engaging in "non-Islamic behavior" - and the family says they "are proud of it" - there is no reason not to take them at their word.

Understanding how dramatically honor violence differs from other domestic abuse is, however, critical - a point that the recent Canadian funding aims to address, as do similar efforts in the UK and the Netherlands. As Phyllis Chesler, author of the landmark study, "Worldwide Trends in Honor Killings," has noted, "Westerners rarely kill their young daughters, nor do Western families of origin conspire or collaborate in such murders." Similarly, domestic abuse in Western families does not involve brothers murdering their sisters, as happens in cases of honor killings. To the contrary, siblings most often protect one another.

Moreover, while domestic violence may relate to a man's sense of self-respect, reputation, or "honor" among his peers, it does not - despite what some Muslims argue - reflect his sense of religious honor or his sense, as patriarch, of responsibility for his family's perceived insults to his god. Yet it is precisely this mindset which incites much honor-based violence and murder - and not only on the part of the father or husband. Frequently, religious devotion and patriarchy places pressure on other family members - siblings, aunts, uncles, spouses or even mothers of a victim -to commit the act, often under threat.

That fact underscores two other critical points that opponents to Canada's focus on honor killings apparently do not wish others to see - or perhaps are too culturally blinded to see: Ordinary domestic violence is nearly always spontaneous, while honor violence (and especially honor murder) is almost always calculated, often planned out over time through numerous family meetings. And the horrific reality is that, these women simply have nowhere to run: no mothers who will shelter them from the husbands they are trying to escape, no sisters or brothers to protect them from their fathers - no one. (Indeed, the sisters and brothers are often recruited to assure a girl hiding from her family to come home, that all is forgiven. But this assertion is almost always a ruse; once she returns, the child is usually killed within days.)

It is, in other words, a long-term family affair, and one that, unlike the problems of domestic violence, can be changed.

Which is precisely why funding for, and attention to, understanding and preventing honor violence is so very critical, not only in Canada, but everywhere in the West. It is why women - and especially Muslim women - should be welcoming it, even demanding more.

And yet, countless Canadian (and other) Muslim activists and apologists remain far more devoted to shaping public vision of their culture - even if it means disguising the truth - than to protecting the lives of their Muslim sisters. In some cases, they may go so far as to contend that the very notion of "honor killings" is a "Western propagated myth," reports Darpan. Indeed, one Muslim women's advocate, Rubaiyat Karim, told Women's e-News that, "Immigration policy can be very inclusionary and preach the language of multi-culturalism. But if we really want to talk about multiculturalism, we need to address the Orientalist mentality of government."

She's wrong. What we really need to address is the refusal of some Muslim families to advance beyond medieval and barbaric religio-cultural practices - and to stop excusing them when they don't. Not to do so is to abandon thousands of women, not just in Canada or the United States, not just in countries like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, but in every country, every city, every town across the world. We cannot let that happen.

Pakistani Muslim Man Gets Mad At His Wife So He Sets Her On Fire

Still from television footage shows the victim at the hospital in Chakwal.

Just another day in Islam...you know, a Muslim husband settles a domestic squabble by dousing his wife in gasoline and setting her on fire and sending her to the hospital.

And for all of you gasping in horror, get used to it - it's all covered baby by Sharia.

The story comes from DAWN.

Woman set ablaze by husband, locked up for three days

PESHAWAR: A woman suffered severe burns when her husband allegedly set her ablaze by throwing petrol on her at her house in Mardan district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, her family said Wednesday.

Shahida, who is currently fighting for her life at a hospital in Chakwal district of Punjab province, said her husband Taseer Khan sprinkled petrol on her and set her on fire after a minor domestic dispute.

The burn victim, in her mid-twenties, said she was locked up in a room and was not allowed medical treatment for three days after the incident.

The girl’s family said she received medical attention only after they rescued her from her husband’s house and took her to a hospital in Chakwal, where she is now being treated.

Shahida suffered severe burn injuries on her face while her entire body was badly charred.

Murad, a brother of the ill-fated girl, said that about 90 per cent of her body had been burnt and her condition was “very serious”. The family also claimed the victim was also pregnant at the time of the alleged incident and that she suffered a miscarriage after she was badly beaten up by her husband.

When contacted, officers at the Mardan Cantt Police station said they have taken Taseer Khan under custody after registering an attempted murder case against the accused.

The police said they had initiated further investigation into the case.

Three Pakistani Women Shot Dead In Mohammedan Honor Killing

Honour killings are considered to be tribal customs and do not come under the Pakistani criminal code - File Photo

Oh yeah, womanhood in Islam...it's to die for.

From DAWN.

Three women shot dead in "honour killing"

PESHAWAR: Relatives shot dead three women in a lawless tribal area of northwest Pakistan after one of them left her husband, officials said Monday.

The “honour killings" happened in Jawaki village in the Darra Adam Khel district, between the cities of Peshawar and Kohat.

A 22-year-old woman from Karachi who married a Jawaki shopkeeper about two years ago was accused of fleeing her husband's house and marrying another man in the northwestern Swat valley with the help of her aunt and cousin, a local administration official said.

The local tribal council or jirga intervened in the matter and decided on Sunday that the women should be killed.

Relatives shot the three dead at their house late Sunday night and buried them on Monday morning, he added.

“It is a case of honour killings and was settled under tribal customs where the Pakistani criminal code is not applicable,” the official said on condition of anonymity.

“According to the information gathered from local sources, the girl was not happy with her husband.”Local intelligence officials confirmed the killings.

The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan says 943 women and girls were murdered in 2011 after being accused of tarnishing their families' honour.

The statistics highlight the violence suffered by many women in conservative Muslim Pakistan, where they are frequently treated as second-class citizens.

Husband, Family Suspected of Honor Killing in UK

Some may ask...what have the Muslim BROUGHT to the United Kingdom in their immigration - well, this is one of them....honor killings.

Quite a contribution, don't you think?

The article comes from The Clarion Project.

Husband, Family Suspected of Honor Killing in UK

Police in the UK are looking for the body of a Muslim woman who they suspect of being killed by her husband and his brother, with help from another brother and the husband’s parents.

Rania Alayed, 25, a mother of three, went missing from her home in Manchester in early July. Her disappearance was called “extremely out of character” by police who have charge her husband, Ahmed Khatib, 33 and brother-in-law, Muhanned Mahmood Al Khatib, 38, with murder. Police have also charged another brother, age 34, with “assisting an offender.”

Reports by the BBC say that Ahmed Khatib’s father, 65, and mother, 55, have also been arrested on charges of “assisting an offender,” but have been released on bail until August 19.

Alayed had previously been the victim of domestic violence and had reported the violence to police. Part of the investigation will center around how those complaints were dealt by the police authorities who were aware of the problem.

Pakistani Muslim Grandfather Kills Daughter and Grandchildren For the Honor of Mohammed

A Pakistani woman had the audacity to marry a man of her CHOICE and for that affront to Mohammed, her father killed her AND HER CHILDREN (his grandchildren).

There you go...happy ramadan everyone.

The story comes from Asian Human Rights Commission via The Religion of Peace.

PAKISTAN: Marriage by choice becoming taboo

It was spine-chilling for Pakistanis to hear news of the grandfather who killed his daughter and his own grandchildren only for protecting the so-called honour of the family. The crime was that the daughter had married a man of her own choice, and not that of the head of her family. The father was so vindictive he waited five years to take revenge for his ‘honour’. He was quite satisfied after taking his revenge on the grand children, who had nothing to do with their mother’s decision to marry of her own choice. He didn’t stop there either. He also killed two young men, brothers of the groom, as he held them responsible too for dishonouring his prestige.

Ms. Shahnaz Tahir, resident of Tara Singh village in Depalpur, Okara district, Punjab Province, was brutally murdered by her father and his henchmen on the night of 22nd July. Shahnaz had tied the knot with Mr. Tahir Sarwar five years ago. She eloped with Tahir, an action which brought social stigma to her family. His father vowed to kill his daughter, following a practice understood to be traditional.

Tahir, after marriage, left his home town along with his wife and lived in another city due to fear of honor killing. After five years of marriage, they decided to visit their parents, thinking that now their parents would accept them and their innocence. But when daughter and his son-in-law arrived at the house, Shahnaz’s father opened fire with weapons, and as a result Shahnaz, her husband Tahir Sarwar, and their two children, Adnan and Ramsha, and their two brothers-in-law, Mr. Zahid and Mr. Nawaz, were all killed. After the massacre Shahnaz’s father was satisfied and opted to run away with his henchmen. A case has been filed with the police and, as per usual, the investigation continues.

In the recent months, Pakistan has witnessed brutal murders of several married women in the name of honour and the state has remained a silent spectator to brutal medieval practices. This is despite Pakistan having passed a categorical law, which has made the honour killing equivalent to crime of murder. Earlier such killings were treated as a defensive crime in protection of the prestige of the family.

It is said that the tradition of honour-killing was a typical way out for landlords who did not want to divide their property, in having to give some to the in-laws of the daughter. However, with the passage of time, honour killing has also extended to marriages by choice. Rather than accepting the marriage of their daughters own choosing, the paternal family take it as a dishonor to the pride of the family and prefer to take law in their own hands. Such families know that the rule of law does not exist in Pakistan; therefore, it is better for them to kill the women, with no botheration of the law, which in a real sense has become impotent, toothless.

These types of cases are abundant and occur in every corner of Pakistan every year. The fire of revenge ends with the loss of innocent lives. The reason: marriage of own choice. Hundreds of women have been killed by their brothers, fathers, cousins and other blood relatives for exercising their rights.

A similar case became public knowledge last year when a girl chose a taxi driver as her life partner. Brutal killings were the result when Ms. Nargis from Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkha province, fell in love with a taxi driver, Mr. Ehtesham. She was tortured to death and her two children were killed by the family in honor killing. When they first found out regarding the relationship, her parents beat her cruelly and kept her locked up inside their house. One day she succeeded in eloping and married Mr. Ethesham. They signed a marriage contract and began leading a happy life. Nargis, after a long time, went to her home town to see her mother. However, she was welcomed by her family with severe anger and violence. Her family members ruthlessly beat her two minor children. Their thirst of revenge not fulfilled, they threw the infants from the roof-top of their home, and Nargis was forced to see her children’s murder. After this, she was brutally beaten to death.

But their inhuman revenge didn’t end there. A case of murder was lodged by the family of Nargis against her husband. The police arrested Mr. Ethesham and his brother and kept them inside the jail for four months, torturing them. Despite all the records disproving any involvement of Ehtesham in any murder the police forced Ehtesham’s brother to sign a statement against his brother, accepting that his brother was a suspect in this case. Later the Judge released Ethesham and his brother and ordered a new inquiry.

Every month many heart-wrenching cases make news, some are registered with the police and others not. The murder of two teenage sisters, Noor Basra and Noor Sheza, by five gunmen in Chilas, Gilgit, is one such case registered. They were killed because they danced during the rain outside their home along with other children and a video was recorded. Their dancing video was leaked in the town. Their half-brother killed the girls for restoration of family honour. A case has been registered by the brother of the girls against their step brother Khutore and four other alleged gunmen.

Similarly, in Dera Gazi Khan, a woman was stoned to death for having a mobile. This order was given by a feudal lord of the area. She was murdered in the name of honor, as having a mobile was understood here to mean dishonor for the family. Such barbaric ideas and actions still flourish in our society and our state and law enforcement departments have no problem with this.

It is an alarming situation for women of Pakistan, where killing of the women along with their children in the name of honor is treated not as an offence, but something in accord with Islamic traditions. Society is being forced to denounce marriage on the basis of choice of the couple. ‘Talibanisation’ is not only restricted to terrorist activities or bomb blasts. Its ideology against the freedom of women has seeped into society with considerable speed, and practices that have nothing to do with Islam have come to be understood as principals of Islam. Therefore, the woman’s right to choose her own life partner is being dealt with medieval violence. Women are being killed in the settlement of family debts, or are being married to aged people, or to save the property are being married to the Quran, or are being sold for money. They are being killed if they raised their voice for their rights, killed if they seek divorce from husbands, or seek to escape domestic violence. And, religion is being used against them.

Honor killings are caused by many factors of society, including feudal culture, customs, absence of a criminal justice system and fair trial, a weak judiciary, and gender bias and corruption in law enforcement agencies.

Landed aristocracy have a great influence in some areas of Pakistan where they hold jirgas (illegal judicial system for the settlement of the disputes). In jirgas, generally, decisions are taken against the women, and minor girls are exchanged to settle feuds.

In the presence of a law which makes it a criminal offence how are honour killings being allows to continue with such violence and brutality. As of yet, no one has been punished according to the law. In the absence of a proper criminal justice system and a witness protection law, the killers get good patronage of the police. By seeking legal protection from Sections 323 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC); the perpetrators (family member/relatives) not only enjoy legal impunity but social redemption as well. With the compensation through the Diyat (Section 323 of PPC), the perpetrators get impunity by law, which allows the payment of compensation to the victim for the settlement of disputes outside the court. And it is during this phase that the victims, the women, are intimidated, threatened, or abducted so they accept the meager amount as compensation, and courts remain silent spectators.

In many cases, gender biased judges force the affected women to settle the crime outside the courts. The said section of Diyat also holds a minimum compensation of Rupees 30,000, which has no value. But by the amount of compensation being kept at a minimum level, perpetrators take advantage. There is a strong demand from the civil society of Pakistan to abolish Diyat, but the state and higher judiciary take shelter behind Islamic teachings and so-called sacred norms.

If the higher judiciary, and particularly the Supreme Court, does not take notice of honour killings that punish women for choosing their life partners, society will face the worst violence in the name of religion. Courts have to ensure protection of girls under threat. Government must stop all kinds of jirgas.

Nearly 50% of Jordanian Teen Boys Think Honor Killings Are Justified

Quite a peaceful and tolerant religion you created there, Mo.

The story comes from The Clarion Project.

Jordan Teens Think Honor Killings Justified, Study Says

Almost half of teenage boys and one in five girls in Amman, believe that killing a girl who has "dishonored" or shamed the family is justified.

A study conducted by researchers of Cambridge University's Institute of Criminology found that almost half of teenage boys and one in five girls interviewed in the capital, Amman, believe that killing a daughter, sister or wife who has "dishonored" or shamed the family is justified.

Honor crimes can include physical assaults, rape, acid attacks and disfigurement, as well as murder for a crime as small as kissing a boy.

A statement released by the university said that researchers surveyed over 850 students, and found that attitudes in support of honor killing are far more likely in adolescent boys with low education backgrounds.

The researchers said the study is the first of its kind to gauge attitudes about honor killings in the region.

According to the study the main factors behind these crimes include patriarchal and traditional worldviews, emphasis placed on female virtue and a more general belief that violence against others is morally justified.

"We noted substantial minorities of girls, well-educated and even irreligious teenagers who consider honor killing morally right, suggesting a persisting society-wide support for the tradition," said Professor Manuel Eisner, who led the study with graduate student Lana Ghuneim.

In all, 33.4% of all respondents either "agreed" or "strongly agreed" with situations that depict honor killings.

Boys were more than twice as likely to support honor killings; 46.1 percent of boys and 22.1 percent of girls agreed with at least two honor killing situations in the questionnaire. Sixty one percent of teenagers from the lowest level of educational background showed supportive attitudes towards “honor killing”, as opposed to only 21.1 percent where at least one family member has a university degree, the study said.

"We would expect that in the more rural and traditional parts of Jordan, support for honor killings would be even higher," said Professor Eisner.

Murder is punishable by death in Jordan, but for honor killings, courts can commute or reduce sentences, particularly if the victim’s family asks for leniency.

While stricter legislation has been introduced despite conservative fears, cultural support for violence against women who are seen as breaking norms has remained widespread.

Jordan's Queen Rania champions women's issues in the kingdom, and has long campaigned against honor killings.

Between 15 and 20 women die in so-called “honor” murders each year in the Arab kingdom, although the numbers are believed to be much higher since most honor killing crimes go unreported.

Mexican Convert to Islam Slaughters His Own Parents Because Allah Told Him They Were Infidels

From The Muslim Issue via The Religion of Peace.

Mexican convert to Islam slaughter his own parents because Allah told him they were infidels

Blame it on mental illness. Why did he only try to decapitate his own parents after he converted to Islam? Surely he was mentally ill before he converted. Yet he never tried to kill his own parents in 43 years of his life – until he converted to Islam, that is.

A relative to the victims write:

His parents were from Acapulco. Their names were Noemi Chavez Garcia and Aurelio Jacinto Vargas. They were returning from San Cristobal, Chiapas to visit their son and to help him out with money, but instead of being grateful, he grabbed a kitchen knife and slit his dad’s throat, killing him.

His mother tried to escape into the streets, but the killer caught up with her and slit her throat open too, dragging her lifeless body back to her dead husband where he tried to decapitate them.

Witnesses saw him murdering people and called the authorities. They promptly arrested the killer and found his dead parents in his room with a book of Koran next to them.

The reason I know this is because the victims were my uncle and aunt, whom I’ve known since I was a child. Everyone in my family is taking it really hard. It’s a horrible tragedy for us all.

A man deranged, apparently a religious fanatic and follower of Islam, coldly slaughtered his elderly parents in the colony Pakalkin of this city, after he received God’s command to kill them, which made him wildly attack them with a knife.

The couple had just arrived from San Cristobal to visit their son who lives in this city of Palenque.

The bloody events took place after 9:00 pm yesterday, in a house that is located on the street Bonampak, Kin Pakal colony, when neighbors called the emergency number 066 to report the assault, after witnessing how the demoniac subject grabbed the back of the elderly woman while she was trying to escape to the street and then cut her throat with a knife. He then took her limp body and drag it to the house, where he left it by the body of the stepfather.

Wave of Honor Killings Hit Pakistan - Seven Left Dead

This is amazing.  In all of my years of blogging about Pakistan, I don't think I've ever seen so many honor killings occur at the same time over such a short period of time.

When you read the article below from DAWN, you will see the term " Karo-Kiri " used - the definition of that is:

Karo-Kari is a type of premeditated honour killing, which originated in rural and tribal areas of Sindh, Pakistan. The homicidal acts are primarily committed against women who are thought to have brought dishonour to their family by engaging in illicit pre-marital or extra-marital relations. In order to restore this honour, a male family member must kill the female in question.

You know, just further evidence of the "advanced" nature of Islam.

Lebanese Muslim Man Rapes and Impregnates His Sister, Then Honor Kills Her

I'm not sure exactly what to say ...other than pure evil is upon us all.

The story comes from Front Page Magazine via The Religion of Peace.

Jihad Rapes His Sister, Impregnates Her and Honor Kills Her

Jihad al-Issa raped, impregnated and then murdered his sister Baghdad. That’s his Jihad. What’s yours?

There is no Valentine’s Day in Islam, because every day is Valentine’s Day for Muslims. Take this love story from Lebanon that shows how Muslim men are really streamlining the abuse of Muslim women and getting rid of all the middlemen.

A man has killed his pregnant teenage sister in south Lebanon in what was seen as an honor crime – the murder of a woman accused of shaming her family.

Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) said Friday that the body of Baghdad Khaled al-Issa, 18, was found with stab wounds in her head and sides in the area of al-Wazzani.

Investigators discovered that her brother Jihad, 21, had killed her in what is described as an honor crime, VDL said.

It added that the victim was seven months pregnant.

Later on Friday, LBCI television reported that the investigation with Jihad revealed that he had raped his sister, which lead to her pregnancy.

“He confessed to raping his sister,” LBCI said, adding that Jihad claimed he was drunk when the incident happened.

The television channel added that he had only recently found out about the pregnancy and asked his sister to undergo an abortion, but she refused.

So Jihad was a drunk and a rapist, but like every psychopath in the region, he valued “honor” above all else. Which is one more reason why there will never be peace in the Middle East.

Pakistani Muslim Parents Released On Bail After Confessing To Acid Attack That Killed Their 15 Year Old Daughter

You might ask how the parents of a 15 year old girl in Pakistan who confessed to dousing her in acid that killed her could be released from jail...well, it's Pakistan, it's Islam and for this very reason...excerpted from the article at DAWN:

“The court found it a weak case and, giving the benefit of doubt, granted bail to her parents,” he said.

“No one appeared on behalf of the deceased girl and no human or women rights activists came to pursue the case,” Rathor added.

So there we have it - young girls and women are like the hunted in Pakistan, they are like prey in a land full of hunters.  We have the Taliban shooting 15 year old girls in the head for standing up for an education and we have parents killing a 15 year old daughter with acid because she's not ideal in the eyes of Mohammed.

And the world just keeps on watching.  And nodding.

Pakistani court bails acid attack parents: lawyers

MUZAFFARABAD: A Pakistani court granted bail on Friday to a couple who confessed to murdering their daughter with acid, citing lack of evidence and witnesses, lawyers said.

Police arrested Mohammad Zafar and his wife Zaheen Akhtar a week after the October 29 attack on their 15-year-old daughter Anusha, who died in agony from horrific burns in Pakistan-administered Kashmir after allegedly looking at boys.

But district and sessions judge Munir Gilani granted bail because “police had no evidence and they could produce no witnesses,” public prosecutor Mohammad Ali Rathor told reporters.

“The court found it a weak case and, giving the benefit of doubt, granted bail to her parents,” he said.

“No one appeared on behalf of the deceased girl and no human or women rights activists came to pursue the case,” Rathor added.

Defence lawyer Riaz Naveed Butt said the couple were released in Kotli, 130 kilometres (80 miles) north of regional capital Muzaffarabad, after depositing bonds worth 100,000 rupees ($1,020) each.

“My plea was that she was not killed, she committed suicide,” Butt told AFP.

He said that Anusha, who spent two days in agony in hospital, had failed to give a statement naming her killers before she died.

Rathor said he would appeal against bail because the couple had “confessed”.

The parents told AFP in an interview last month that they waited two days to take Anusha to hospital, where a doctor said she arrived in a “very critical condition” with almost 70 percent burns.

Anusha’s mother Zaheen spoke of her remorse for what happened. “I deeply regret my action. I am repenting as I should not have done this. She was very innocent,” she told AFP from her police cell in November.

She said she and her husband feared Anusha would follow in the footsteps of her elder sister, who was married off at 16 “because people had been talking about her bad character”.

Rights activists say more than 900 women were murdered last year after being accused of bringing shame on their families.

Many such killings are passed off as suicide and suspects who are arrested are often released due to lack of evidence.

14 Year Old Afghan Girl Beheaded After Father Refuses a Marriage Offer For Her

The religion of peace and tolerance has a new prize today...a 14 year old girl's head.  Wouldn't Mohammed be so pleased.

The story comes from the BBC via The Religion of Peace.

Afghan girl's beheading: Two arrested in Kunduz province

Afghan police have arrested two men accused of beheading a teenage girl with a knife in northern Kunduz province, officials said on Wednesday.

Prior to the attack, the girl's father had rejected a marriage proposal for his daughter.

"Our investigation shows those who killed her were people who wanted to marry her," police told the BBC.

Earlier this month, four policemen were jailed for 16 years for raping a young woman in the same province.

In the latest incident, the girl, who was about 14 years old, was carrying drinking water from a nearby well to her house in Imam Sahib district when she was attacked on Monday.

"People were harassing the family and asking for her hand. When she refused, they did this to her," a police official told the BBC.

Senior Afghan officials and local tribal elders said the two suspects were close relatives of the girl.

The father had not wanted his daughter to get married because she was "too young to be engaged", he was quoted as saying by the Pajhwok news agency.

Details of the killing remain unclear and there are conflicting reports about exactly what happened.

On Thursday, the head of the women's affairs department in the province, Nadarah Gaia, said the girl may have been shot, rather than beheaded.

Canadian Muslim Immigrant From Afghanistan Convicted Of Honor Killing His "too westernized" Wife

Let's not forget something in regards to the latest conviction of a Muslim man in Canada for an Islamic honor killing...Peer Khairi, who emigrated to Canada from Afghanistan, didn't just kill his wife for her "westernized" ways, no....he stabbed her to death and slashed her throat from ear to ear, nearly decapitating the woman.

You see, Mohammed is pleased when the killing of a member of the Islamic club who has wandered is especially brutal.  Khairi contested that he killed his wife in self defense when, he says, she attacked him with a knife - I'm wondering at what point in court did the prosecution bring up the near decapitation of his wife as a "normal" defense of one's life.

The story comes from CBC News via The Religion of Peace.

Jury convicts Toronto man who slashed throat, stabbed wife

A Toronto man who stabbed his wife and slashed her throat four years ago was found guilty of second-degree murder on Sunday.

Peer Khairi, 65, sobbed quietly with his head down when the verdict was read in court, days after the jury first began its deliberations last Thursday.

His wife, Randjida Khairi, died in March 2008. She was 53 years old.

Assistant Crown Attorney Robert Kenny said the jury heard four weeks of evidence during the trial, including three days of testimony from Khairi himself.

"We’re very happy with all the hard work that the jury went through and with the way the evidence came out," he told reporters outside court on Sunday.

Kenny credited the investigative work that police did in bringing the case to court.

"They were the ones who actually got the accused to speak the night of the murder and actually got a lot of the details of what had happened…which is what allowed us to take circumstantial evidence and to be able to tell the jury our theory of what had happened," he said.

"And I think by their verdict, they accepted that."

Toronto police Det. Sgt. Michael Barsky, who attended the scene on the day of the killing, said he was pleased with the verdict.

"Obviously things went very, very badly in that household for this to happen in the first place and those frustrations must have come to a head on March 18, 2008," Barsky told reporters.

"But I think Mr. Khairi was aware of what he was doing and why he was doing it and as a result we have this verdict today."
Sentencing to come

Following the verdict, defence lawyer Christopher Hicks was asked how Khairi reacted to the verdict.

Hicks told CBC News that Khairi is "not happy" and that it was evident that he had reacted "physically and emotionally to the decision."

Looking ahead to the sentencing process, Hicks said it was too soon to say what the defence would be recommending.

"We haven’t really thought about what we would say for a sentence in this matter," he said.

During the trial, Khairi had claimed that he killed his wife in self-defence, alleging that she had tried to attack him with a knife.

The Crown argued that Khairi was angry with his wife and children for adopting more Western values after coming to Canada from Afghanistan.

Khairi had not revealed his claim that he was attacked prior to the trial, including when questioned by police.

In court, Khairi said that he had been waiting for his trial to tell the full story.

Barsky said that the jury's verdict is a point where the Khairi family can begin to "turn the page" on a difficult chapter of their lives.

But he said that the Khairi children will still move forward without their parents in their lives.

"This is a difficult time for a family. They’ve lost both parents, essentially in one act," he said Sunday.

15 Year Old Pakistani Girl Caught Talking To a Man, Parents Douse Her In Acid Killing Her

After you read this blog post title, what can you possibly say?

The story comes from The Telegraph.

Parents kill teenage daughter in acid attack in Kashmir

A mother and father in Pakistan-administered Kashmir killed their 15-year-old daughter by dousing her with acid after seeing her talking to a young man, police say.

Local police officer Tahir Ayub told AFP the father, Mohammad Zafar, was already suspicions about his daughter Anvu Sha and became enraged when he saw her with a boy outside their home on Monday.

"Zafar beat her up and then poured acid over her with the help of his wife. She was badly burnt but they did not take her to hospital until the next morning, and she died on Wednesday," Mr Ayub said.

Doctor Mohammad Jahangir of the state-run Kotli hospital said the girl was brought to hospital in a "very critical condition" with almost 70 per cent burns.

Police were alerted by Anvu Sha's married elder sister who demanded they investigate the incident in Khoi Ratta district, 87 miles north of the state capital, Muzaffarabad.

"The parents have confessed, saying that they suspected the girl had illicit relations with a boy," Mr Ayub said. "We have registered a murder case against the girl's father and mother."

Pakistan is a deeply conservative country, where women, especially in poor rural areas, enjoy few rights and protection by the police.

Yusra Farhan, Mohammed Altameemi & Tabarak Altameemi

The story comes from My Fox Phoenix via The Religion of Peace.

Woman claims family beat her for talking to a man

PHOENIX -

A woman claims she was beat by her family for talking to a man and on Friday, those family members were in court.

All three family members plead guilty. The 20-year-old victim had an outburst in court and interrupted the hearing.

She was crying and told the judge this was all her fault and she wants her mother back.

The judge repeatedly asked her to stop interrupting.

The alleged incidents happened when she was 19. Court records show she was burned on her face and chest with a hot spoon after refusing to participate in an arranged marriage with a 38-year-old man.

Records also state that victim was tied to a bed with a rope secured with a padlock until Feb. 8, when she was released to go to school.

The mother, 50-year-old Yusra Farhan, plead guilty to unlawful imprisonment. The father, 45-year-old Mohammed Altameemi, plead guilty to disorderly conduct and her 18-year-old sister, Tabarak Altameemi, plead guilty to misdemeanor assault.

Sentencing is scheduled for November 6th. The judge told the victim she'll get her chance to talk at the sentencing.

Farhan and the Altameemis will most likely get probation.

Chilling Account of Canadian Muslim Mother Trying To Kill Her Rebellious 19 Yr Old Daughter

Johra Kaleki (L) told Montreal police her daughter, Bahar Ebrahimi, was rebelling in the months before the alleged attack.

You really need to read this story, this horrific tale at what really could have been the latest honor killing in Canada - it literally sent chills down my spine to hear the words of a mother so brainwashed into serving Mohammed that the death of her daughter meant nothing to her.  Nothing.

The story comes from The National Post via The Religion of Peace.

‘It’s for your good. Let me finish’: Afghan-Canadian mother told police she stabbed her daughter with a kitchen knife

MONTREAL – For months, Bahar Ebrahimi had been rebelling against her parents, complaining their Afghan culture and Muslim religion were suffocating her. “I want to enjoy my life. I want to feel what the other ones feel,” she told them, according to her mother’s statement to police.

It was June, 2010, Grand Prix weekend in downtown Montreal, and on two straight nights the 19-year-old stayed out past dawn against her parents’ wishes.

For her mother, Johra Kaleki, the behaviour confirmed that all her efforts to steer her eldest daughter on the right path had failed. “I felt like she would never be fixed,” she told Sgt.-Det. Alexandre Bertrand in an interrogation video played Wednesday in Quebec Court.

As her crying husband spoke to Bahar in the basement of their Dorval home, Ms. Kaleki went upstairs and grabbed a large knife from the kitchen counter, the one she used to chop meat, she recounted. “I said, ‘This is the time.’ ”

She hid the knife under her T-shirt, returned to the basement, and told her husband the problem would best be resolved between mother and daughter. “Just leave us alone for five minutes,” she said she told him. “Don’t come until I call you.”

He left and she cuddled her first-born and told her to lie on her stomach so she could give her a back massage. “Then I stab her, stab her neck,” she confessed. “She said, ‘No Mom!’ I said, ‘It’s for your good. Let me finish.’ ”

Earlier in the interrogation, Sgt.-Det. Bertrand has asked whether the knife blade was sharp. “No, it wasn’t,” she replied. “I wish it was. I wanted to give her the peace that she needed.”

Bahar survived the attack, suffering serious knife wounds to her head and shoulder. Ms. Kaleki, 40, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and illegal use of a weapon.

Her husband, alerted by Bahar’s screams, rushed downstairs and grabbed the knife from Ms. Kaleki, the court heard. “I said to my husband, let me finish her.’ ” She tried to choke her daughter, she said, and after Bahar escaped, she chased her upstairs and tried to break down the locked door to the bedroom where she was calling 911.

She was arrested, and after being treated in hospital for a knife wound on her own arm, she told her story to Sgt.-Det. Bertrand.

The first night Bahar stayed out late, informing her parents she was downtown enjoying a concert, they went to the local police station to file a report, Ms. Kaleki said. The officer told them there was nothing that could be done. “He said, ‘She’s safe. Don’t worry. She’s a teenager.’ ”

But the idea of a rebellious teenage girl was foreign to her parents. They expected Bahar to be home by 11 p.m. and not to smoke, drink or have boyfriends.

After the second night, when Bahar said she had spent much of the evening walking along St. Laurent Blvd., Ms. Kaleki was horrified. “I asked her, ‘Are you a prostitute? Are you a whore?’ ” she said.

A few months earlier, when Ms. Kaleki discovered Bahar was being harassed by an ex-boyfriend, she blamed her daughter. After speaking to the boy once on the phone, Ms. Kaleki decided he sounded like “a very good Muslim guy” and told Bahar he would make a good husband. “Probably you’ve done something to drive him crazy,” she told her. “I know you. You’re my daughter.” Bahar refused the idea of marriage, calling the boy a “psycho.”

Toward the end of the four-hour interview, the detective asked Ms. Kaleki whether she had anything to add. “I hope she gets well,” she said referring to her daughter. But she did not want her to emerge unscarred.

“She live with that wound,” she continued, pointing to her neck, “she remembers me.” The experience “will make her strong and give her wisdom. . . . It means she will give up her ways of living.”

The hearing this week before Judge Yves Paradis is to determine whether the video and other statements made by Ms. Kaleki can be entered into evidence during the trial, which is scheduled to begin in January. Ms. Kaleki’s defence lawyer has said she will argue that Ms. Kaleki did not have the “operating mind” necessary to consent to the interrogation. The hearing continues Thursday.

Oh Well, Just Another Muslim Honor Killing

Yep.  Nothing to see here.  Just move along.   Well, actually this time a father decided to at least let his daughter finish her Ramadan meal before he drew out a knife and sliced and diced her until she was dead.

The story comes from 24/7 Emirates via The Religion of Peace.

Man murders teen daughter in Palestine

A Palestinian man waited for his 18-year-old daughter to finish Iftar (Ramadan evening meal), pulled a kitchen knife and stabbed her to death.

The man then put his shoes on and walked out of the house towards the police station, where he handed himself over.

The man from the West Bank town of Tulkarm walked to the police station still holding the blood-stained knife before giving himself up.

Newspapers did not specify the father’s motives for the murder but said the girl was one of the top performers in the secondary school examinations in town.

Yet Another Honor Killing In Pakistan...Brother Kills Sister For Alleged Affair

So that's it huh?  Your sister has an affair (at least you THINK she has) and for that, in order to preserve the honor of a pedophile like Mohammed, you kill your very own sister?  You murder a person who shares your own bloodline because you think it will please a fake god?

It's gotten to the point where I could put up an article each and every day highlighting an honor killing in Pakistan.  This country, this so-called religion is so messed up it defies reality.

The story comes from The Express Tribune via The Religion of Peace.

Honour killing?: Woman killed under mysterious circumstances

HARIPUR:

A woman was allegedly murdered by her brother for honour and buried in an urban locality of Haripur, police told The Express Tribune on Tuesday. Independent sources have demanded a judicial inquiry into the woman’s death.

According to the police, Fakhira Bibi*, 21, was allegedly beaten to death up by her brother after he suspected her of having an affair. Eyewitnesses told the police that Bibi had boarded a bus on Saturday and was leaving for Raheem Yar Khan when her brother forcibly took her back. The next day the family informed neighbours that Bibi had died during childbirth. She was buried soon after.

However, sources told the police that Bibi was returning to her husband, Akbar Khan, who lives in Raheem Yar Khan, due to the unbecoming behaviour of her brothers. The couple had separated a year ago after Khan became mentally ill and she developed differences with her in-laws. Bibi had come to live with her family in Haripur along with her son, who is now four years old.

Women who attended the funeral told the police that the woman’s body bore torture marks. Police started investigations into the death and brought her brother in for questioning. However, he was released soon after on a “personal surety”.

Afghan Muslims Kill 15 Yr Old "Bride" In Honor Killing

Allahu Ackbar?

Afghan teen murder spotlights growing violence against women

CHARIKAR, Afghanistan (Reuters) - Pressing her cheek against the fresh grave of her newly married teenage daughter, Sabera yowls as she gently smears clumps of dirt over her tear-stained face.

"My daughter! Why did they kill you so brutally?" the mother screams in the sparsely filled cemetery in Parwan province, 65 km (40 miles) north of the Afghan capital, Kabul.

Sabera says her daughter Tamana was killed by a relative in a so-called "honor killing", in what officials link to a wider trend of rapidly growing violence against women in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan's independent human rights commission has recorded 52 murders of girls and women in the last four months, 42 of which were honor killings, compared to 20 murders for all of last year.

Activists and some lawmakers accuse President Hamid Karzai's government of selling out to the ultra-conservative Taliban, with whom it seeks peace talks, as most foreign troops prepare to leave the country by the end of 2014.

During their 1996-2001 reign, the Taliban banned women from education, voting and most work, and they were not allowed to leave their homes without permission and a male escort, rights which have been painstakingly won back.

But there are signs the government is backsliding on women's rights. Earlier this year, Karzai appeared to back recommendations from powerful clerics that stated women are worth less than men and can be beaten.

"Karzai has certainly changed, and women's issues are no longer a priority for him," said outspoken female lawmaker Fawzia Koofi.

Last week, Hanifa Safi, head of women's affairs in eastern Laghman province, became the first female official to be killed this year when a bomb planted on her car exploded.

A spokesman for Karzai said the government is committed to women's rights. "Unfortunate incidents against women do occur. The government is doing what it can," said Siamak Herawi.

FORCED MARRIAGE

Fifteen-year-old Tamana died not far from where a young woman was publicly executed for alleged adultery last month, touching off an international outcry.

Tamana's parents say she never returned from a trip to the local bakery in March, located near their home in Parwan's capital Charikar.

The next time they saw her was one week ago, lying dead on a hospital bed. A video filmed on their mobile phone last Monday at her funeral shows the teenager's bruised face swathed in white sheets.

"My daughter always said she wouldn't stop studying, and would one day become important, having to travel to work in a convoy of cars," Sabera told Reuters in her spartan living room, where flies buzzed over ruby red carpets.

"But now she is under a tonne of clay," she said, prompting her husband, retired intelligence official Abdul Fatah, to wipe a tear from his wrinkled eyes.

Tamana was forcibly married to her cousin after refusing his advances for months, they say, adding she was beaten and killed for being a "disobedient" wife, unable to hide unhappiness at her plight.

Reuters could not independently verify the family's claims, but police in Charikar said they believe Tamana was intentionally poisoned, although cannot say with certainty until the results of the autopsy come later this month.

No one has been arrested over Tamana's killing, but the alleged killer's sister was given as a bride to Tamana's brother as compensation, abiding by the brutal Afghan practice 'baad', which is widespread despite Karzai criminalizing it in 2009.

She is one of eight women killed in Parwan since March including two in Bagram, home to a major U.S. base, who were shot to death.
