UC Professor Forces Students to Tweet About Islamophobia

Prof. Hatem Bazian is making 100 mostly non-Muslim students tweet about Muslim victimhood in America as part of his course.


In 2002, when Prof. Daniel Pipes launched his “Campus Watch” initiative to monitor “the mixing of politics with scholarship” on American universities with regard to the Mideast, he was condemned as engaging in “McCarthyesque” intimidation.

His initiative was derided as a “war on academic freedom.” One Islamist group labelled Pipes the “grandfather of Islamophobes”.

However, 12 years after Pipes first raised the flag of Islamist penetration of U.S. universities, it appears that Pipes, a scholar of Islam with a dozen books to his credit, was right to be concerned.

Two weeks ago, I received a panicked message from a student enrolled at the University of California, Berkeley.

He wrote: “I’ve been told by one of my professors I will be required, as part of my grade, to start a Twitter account and tweet weekly on Islamophobia. I can’t help but feel this is unethical. This is his agenda not mine.”

The professor conducting this exercise was Hatem Bazian as part of a course titled, “Asian American Studies 132AC: Islamophobia”.

When I asked him to elaborate on his concerns the student wrote:

“There are 100 students in the class, all of us forced to create individual Twitter accounts. I’m not wholly clear on what our final project is yet (I find it very interesting that he excludes both the Twitter account requirement AND the final project from his official syllabus), but we have to meet with a group in San Francisco, and our class will be surveying people of color on the impact of some ads put out by (anti-Sharia blogger) Pamela Gellar. Now I’m no Pamela Gellar fan, I think she’s nuts, but I feel … between the Twitter stuff and the final project he’s basically using us as unpaid labor to work on his agenda.”

I wrote to Prof. Bazian, who co-founded “Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP)” at Berkeley, asking why he was using his students to pursue what appeared to me to be a political exercise meant to propagate a specific message to the Twitterverse.

Bazian replied, without referring to Islamophobia:

“My course is designated as an American culture community engagement scholarship class … Students are asked to send at least one posting per week on something related to the course content, be it from the actual reading or anything they read or came across.”

When I asked him why all the tweets by his students so far are about Islamophobia, he replied:

“The class is titled De-Constructing Islamophobia and the History of Otherness … (Students) are asked to post based on … examining Islamophobia through looking at earlier historical examples.”

The fact remains Prof. Bazian appears to be using his position of authority to make 100 students — mostly non-Muslims — tweet about Muslim victimhood in America, irrespective of how it’s defined or whether it exists.

No student I have seen on Twitter has yet posted a tweet saying Islamophobia is a myth, nor has any student challenged the validity of the term.

Here is a sampling of tweets by Prof. Bazian’s students:

One tweeted: “How difficult it is to be a Muslim woman in America”; Another wrote about “Islamophobia in Canada”; while a third tweeted, “One perspective of Islam is to view it as inferior to the West. Where does this notion of cultural superiority come from?”

Prof. Bazian’s students were in junior school in 2002 when Campus Watch raised the issue of “the mixing of politics with scholarship.” Today, they would appear to be examples of that exercise.

'Shame, shame, shame': Australia's first Muslim frontbencher abused for taking oath on Koran

The Prime Minister's new parliamentary secretary, Ed Husic, has been subjected to a torrent of abuse online for being sworn in to his position with a Koran.

Mr Husic became Australia's first Muslim frontbencher on Monday when he was appointed to Kevin Rudd's new-look ministry as parliamentary secretary to the Prime Minister and parliamentary secretary for broadband.

"This is a wonderful day for multiculturalism, and everything it stands for in our country," Governor-General Quentin Bryce told Mr Husic during the swearing-in ceremony in Canberra on Monday.

However, after receiving dozens of messages of congratulations on his Facebook page, the comments quickly turned to disgust and outrage that he had chosen to be sworn in on the Muslim holy book.

Some called it un-Australian and unconstitutional.

"Our allegiance should have been to Queen and Country first Ed. That means saying the oath on the holy bible not the Koran.... Shame, Shame, Shame," posted one user, Ross Peace. "I am so disappointed in this government that they don't have the spine to stand up for the Australian way of life."

Another user, Therese Pearce, said she was "disgusted and embarrassed" for the Australian people.

"Hell i might just have to use snow white and the 7 dwarfs next time i take the oath for australia," she posted.

One user, Anna Dean, claimed his decision to be sworn in on the Koran undermined "our culture and country and constitution in this way".

Another user, Carrie Forrest, accused him of disregarding Australia's constitution and pushing for sharia.

Mr Husic played down the abuse on Tuesday afternoon by saying that people were entitled in a democracy to question his choice to be sworn in using a Koran and the public should not necessarily jump ‘‘because of harsh words out of dark corners’’.

‘‘[People] may have questions and they may have concerns and people are right to raise that,’’ he said. ‘‘But I also think you’ll have, from time to time, people of the extremes. There are people that are definitely extreme ... and they will always try to seek ways in which to divide people. The important thing is [that] mainstream Australia wants everyone to work together.’’

He said he had been ‘‘heartened’’ by the huge number of congratulatory messages.

Mr Husic has previously said that he is a moderate Muslim who does not involve himself heavily with most of the religious customs and behaviours of the faith.

Asked about his religion in 2010, he told the ABC: "If someone asks me, 'Are you Muslim?' I say yes. And then if someone says, 'Well do you pray and go to a mosque and do all the other things that are associated with the faith?' I say no.

"I often get told that I describe myself as non-practising when in actual fact I don't go round saying that. Like I just say 'I'm Muslim.' "

Opposition Leader Tony Abbott said people should respect Mr Husic’s choice. ‘‘I respect his choice,’’ he told reporters in Melbourne. ‘‘I think the Australian people should as well.’’

President of the Anti-Discrimination Board and chairman of the NSW Community Relations Commission Stepan Kerkyasharian said it was "a sad day for any society" when someone is abused because of their religion.

He said Mr Husic could act as a valuable bridge between the Muslim community and would put Australia at an advantage in the international community.

"It should be an interesting and positive milestone that someone of migrant heritage has come to Australia and has now, through our democratic process, reached a position of leadership," he said.

Mr Husic, 43, the son of Bosnian Muslim migrants, became the first Muslim to be elected to Parliament when he won his western Sydney seat of Chifley in the 2010 election with 51.58 per cent of votes, almost double that of his next competitor.

In 2010, he was sworn into Federal Parliament alongside members from several religions. Kooyong member Josh Frydenberg and Melbourne Ports member Michael Danby were sworn in on the Jewish bible.

Lawyer and community rights advocate Mariam Veiszadeh said there was too often an assumption that being a good Australian citizen and a good Muslim were "mutually exclusive concepts".

"You can be a devout Jew and a good Australian parliamentarian who serves your country just as equally as you can be a practising Muslim and a good Australian citizen and politician," she said.

"It is ignorant for people to conflate irrelevant issues and it stems from the Muslim bashing that has been going on in this country for a decade."

Let the truth be known....the whole idea of "Islamophobia" was a strategy concocted by the Muslim Brotherhood.  There.  Now you know.

Much like the strategic positioning of the poor Palestinians as a way to put international pressure on Israel, most of the complaints from the Islamic community all feed into the end result of a caliphate.

And as usual, the American people are caught napping while those of the sinister ideology have a field day with their lies and spin.

The choice is clear - every single Muslim Brotherhood backed organization in America needs to be outlawed and every member of the Muslim Brotherhood in this country needs to be arrested or deported.

'Islamophobia': A Strategy Devised Before 9/11


In a meeting in the 1990s, U.S. Muslim Brotherhood groups decided to 'play victim' for the purpose of 'beating down critics.'

A Clarion Project reader sent us an intriguing article that shows how the cries of “Islamophobia” were used to win the affection of top officials as far back as 1996 -- five years before 9/11.

In this case, Hillary Clinton became the first wife of a sitting President to address a Muslim organization outside the White House. Perhaps unbeknownst to her, the group she honored was founded by Muslim Brotherhood supporters, including one who said her name would be “written in history in letters of light to the deed.”

The Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), the group that Clinton addressed, was founded by Hassan and Maher Hathout, two brothers that were imprisoned in Egypt for their membership in the Muslim Brotherhood. Hassan Hathout called himself a “close disciple” of the Brotherhood’s founder and said they came to America to spread the “Islamic Movement” inspired by him.

Maher Hathout, currently MPAC’s Senior Adviser, has said that he has had no foreign links since arriving in the U.S. It is true that a 1991 U.S. Muslim Brotherhood memo does not identify MPAC as one of its fronts. However, a 1989 document from the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood Financial Committee refers to a man named “Hathout” that is “in the field,” likely referring to one of the Hathout brothers.

From the beginning, MPAC was working in unison with the identified U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entities. For example, in September 1993, MPAC signed a joint condemnation of the Oslo Accords with five other groups, each being one of the Brotherhood’s “organizations and the organizations of our friends.” The statement said that “to recognize the legitimacy of that crime [the creation of Israel] is a crime in itself…”

First Lady Clinton came to a joint event of MPAC and the Muslim Women’s League to give them the honor of being the first Muslim groups to be addressed by a First Lady outside the White House.

“When our country becomes what we dream and when our society becomes warmer and more inclusive … it will be written in history in letters of light that the first First Lady who took a major step to greet, include and to communicate with Muslims is First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton,” said Maher Hathout.

Interestingly, “Islamophobia” was used as a rallying cry even back then, five years before the 9/11 attacks: The article quotes MPAC’s leaders inferring that Muslims are a persecuted minority. Clinton herself even said Americans “[must] stand up against our own voices of hatred and division.”

Abdur-Rahman Muhammad, a former member of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood front, recalls being at a group meeting in the early 1990s where they came up with the idea to use “Islamophobia” as a political weapon. Of the use of the word, Muhammad later said, “This loathsome term is nothing more than a thought-terminating cliche conceived in the bowels of Muslim think tanks for the purpose of beating down critics.”

One may point to MPAC’s more moderate record today (such as Maher Hathout’s statement that “we don’t want to enforce Sharia anywhere” and criticism of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt), but its tone was different during the time of Clinton’s embrace.

Just one year after praising Clinton, Maher Hathout praised Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna, Tunisian Islamist Rashid al-Ghannouchi and Sudanese Islamist Hasan al-Turabi as “reformists.” Hassan Hathout was also saying that “this current [Western] civilization harbors in its body the seeds of its own destruction,” similar language to a 1991 U.S. Muslim Brotherhood memo’s statement that its “work in America is a kind of grand jihad in eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.”

Two years after teaming up with Clinton, Hathout justified Hezbollah’s attacks on Israelis because “[they are] fighting to liberate their land and attacking only armed forces, this is legitimate—that is an American value—freedom and liberty.”

MPAC and other Brotherhood-tied groups have also successfully used complaints about anti-Muslim sentiment to win interfaith allies -- since Clinton’s address and until today.

MPAC’s last annual conference was held at All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena. After the Clarion Project brought attention to it, the church and MPAC held a press conference to denounce the supposedly hateful writings of “right-wing extremists” about the event. The ties that bound them together were more exposed at the event when Reverend Ed Bacon put “Islamophobia” and “evangelical Zionism” as Christian sins on par with slavery.

MPAC returned to the church on May 5. This time, MPAC’s Maher Hathout warned that the “Islamophobia” of supremacists is a threat to America’s democracy. He said that America is run by an elite minority bought by lobbyists.

MPAC President Salam al-Marayati said that the “cottage industry” of the Islamophobes is part of a “larger machine,” including a military-industrial complex that “want more contracts for more weapons to countries that only use these weapons against their own people or against civilians.”

The organization told the church audience that terrorist attacks like the Boston bombings, though reprehensible, will only lessen once the U.S. changes its foreign policy in a more Islamist-friendly direction.

“When a superpower is aiding and abetting oppression and there are grievances, and people react in a violent way, they [Americans] look at the violence and they say it is not time to deal with the grievances,” al-Marayati said.

One of MPAC’s stated goals is to influence policy. Thanks to a reader of the Clarion Project, we see how the group was using the combination of “Islamophobia” and a crafted image of moderation to achieve this as far back as 1996.

Juan Williams, Meet Luc Trullemans: All Too Frank Speech in Belgium Leads to Firing


In a case reminiscent of National Public Radio (NPR)'s 2010 firing of commentator Juan Williams, the Belgian television meteorologist Luc Trullemans has lost his job after posting angry and abusive comments upon his Facebook page concerning Muslim immigrants. Trullemans wrote the comments following threatening personal encounters with individuals from such backgrounds. His experience indicates once again the politically incorrect controversies concerning Islam in many modern Western societies and raises questions concerning the limits of free speech on these issues.

Trullemans's employer, Belgium's RTL television, suspended him until further notice on Friday evening, April 26, 2013, for a post on his Facebook page described in a 7 Sur 7 Belgian press account as having a "racist and Islamophobe character." RTL spokesperson Sophie Bailly explained that Trullemans's "racist words" were "unacceptable for RTL." As reported by the Belgian newspaper L'Avenir online earlier on April 26, Trullemans's posting was a self-professed "rant" circulating in the internet for some years accusing Muslim immigrants of being backward and deficient in assimilation. L'Avenir's story displayed as well various satirical photos posted within the last day by Trullemans to his Facebook page criticizing increased Islamic influence in Belgium and France.

The anonymous writer warned in the L'Avenir-linked French text that he "would not be delicate in my words" but rather would "speak like a true Walloon" from Belgium's French-speaking region. "I," added the writer, "will probably appear as a racist, but you know what? I DO NOT GIVE A DAMN!!!" The writer considered "it time to speak openly that which many think inside" and sought to defend "European values" as a self-professed atheist against Muslims. In particular, this atheist devoted several sentences to advocating an unapologetic societal celebration of Christmas traditions, something which he curiously defined as "not a religion, but an event."

The writer described Muslims immigrating because of "war, violence, hatred, and death" in order to receive from "OUR LAND ... everything" in social welfare for successful societal integration. According to such analysis, Muslim immigrant cultural expectations of "importing your crap [merde]" are a self-defeating and ungrateful response to such "hospitality." The writer had "ENOUGH" of such attempts "to change our traditions ... to restrict our rights ... because they are contrary to your religion," and "to treat us as racists because one does not like your manner of behavior." After all, the writer argued, those who did not respect Muslim norms were "subject to death in certain of your countries of monkeys!!!" The writer called upon Muslim immigrants to "throw your hijabs and niqabs in the trash ... forget your primitive demands," and "assimilate or take off!"

Meeting with L'Avenir reporters on the evening of April 26, Trullemans "took responsibility" for his postings condemning immigrants and Islam, yet by 11:00 pm that evening, L'Avenir reported that Trullemans had already reversed course. Gone from his Facebook page were the controversial postings, and in their place was a "personal" apology to the "Muslim community" quoted by L'Avenir and shown in the 7 Sur 7 story. Trullemans explained that "following an assault on a public way and under a fit of emotion in a state of great fatigue, I wrote this text seized by anger." Trullemans emphasized that he was "not a racist at all." Nonetheless, L'Avenir reported that RTL had suspended him shortly before midnight.

Trullemans later explained to 7 Sur 7 that while he was driving on April 26 at about 30-35 mph, a following car's driver found this speed too slow, as Trullemans had decelerated for an upcoming red light. The driver passed Trullemans and suddenly slowed down, prompting Trullemans to honk, whereupon the driver repeatedly made sudden fluctuations in speed. At the light, the occupants described by Trullemans as "people from the south clothed in traditional garments" exited the car.

These individuals told him in a "very aggressive" manner to exit his car as well and that he should not have honked. Remaining in his car, a fearful Trullemans stated that traffic regulations deserved obedience. The other car occupants then said that he could "not impose my rules" as a "little Belgian" upon them in "their" neighborhood, and one of them struck Trullemans's car. After the light changed, Trullemans drove on, followed by the other car until he arrived at the RTL parking lot.

In his interview, Trullemans reiterated again that he was not a racist and had indeed previously had a five-year relationship with an Algerian woman, who in turn confirmed that "Lucky" was not prejudiced. Indeed, Trullemans's Facebook page shows among his preferences various vintage African-American music stars like Sam Cooke. Further support for Trullemans has come from two Facebook pages -- one with 21,026 likes, the other, calling Trullemans a "victim of political correctness," with 7,686.

The Belgian lawyer Mischaël Modrikamen, son of a Polish Jewish immigrant who escaped the Nazis, has also taken up Trullemans's reinstatement claim as a matter of free speech. Modrikamen attributed to Trullemans' words a "political," not a "racist character," under assault from "thought police." Modrikamen, meanwhile, might say as much about the restrictive immigration policies advocated by the Parti Populaire led by him and by his past warnings against the "fascist aspects" of "political Islam."

Trullemans's experience indicates the considerable legitimate concerns many Europeans have with respect to Islamic immigration, however poorly expressed by him in the heat of passion. As the Belgian reactions showed, Trullemans's temporary postings dealt with popular controversies often linked to immigration in general and Islamic immigration in particular, such as disproportionate consumption of social services, deficient assimilation, and native/newcomer conflicts over societal norms. Only the single fleeting pejorative and literally dehumanizing reference to Muslim-majority lands as "countries of monkeys" in the "rant" (one wonders how carefully Trullemans analyzed this text before posting) would count as a purely prejudicial insult, possibly punishable in Belgium and elsewhere under various laws. As Modrikamen would argue, though, only through free speech can such passions find a proper venting, cold critique, and channeling into more fruitful long-term policy discussions.

CAIR Tries To Bridge Relationships Between Americans and Muslims By Calling Adam Carolla an "Islamophobe"

If you say the Qur'an preaches violence, you're an islamophobe according CAIR. If you make the claim that 90% of the world's terror attacks are committed by Muslims, you're an islamophobe according to CAIR.  If you point out that Muslim clerics daily ask for "death to America", you're an islamophobe according to CAIR.  So when CAIR decided to call Adam Carolla an islamophobe after his appearance on Fox News, well, I guess it's kind of lost its punch now hasn't it?

CAIR attacks Adam Carolla for ‘Islamaphobia’


The Council on American Islamic Relations, a Muslim advocacy organization known for its strong-armed tactics to stifle criticism, took issue Tuesday with comments comedian Adam Carolla made on “The O’Reilly Factor.”

In his appearance Monday, Carolla pointed out that some religions cause more problems than others and that Islamic terrorism is not something to be understood.

“You know, this whole thing of — and it has been going on throughout time, what did we do to offend them? We must have done something to offend these people. Why do they hate us so much? Why are they bullying us up? Perhaps, if we play nice with them, they will stop doing this,” Carolla said, describing the idea of self-doubting appeasement.

“They hate our culture,” he explained. “They hate our way of life. They hate the fact that our women’s boobies get bigger, our cars get longer, our swimming pools get deeper and we’re building skyscrapers and bridges. And Allah is supposed to take care of all this decadence but Allah never does. So they take it upon their hands to do it themselves. And we act like, ‘Well, if just make friends with them, then maybe, they’ll back off.’ They’re not going to back off as long as we’re enjoying our decadent life.”

Tuesday, CAIR National tweeted out The Daily Caller’s article highlighting Carolla’s appearance claiming that it represents Islamophobia.

Later in the day Tuesday, CAIR issued a press release claiming there has been a “wave of of inflammatory anti-Muslim rhetoric following the Boston Marathon bombings and the revelation that the suspects in the case are Muslim.” The group highlighted a series of television appearances and statements in which Islam was painted in a poor light — including statements made by columnist Ann Coulter, Democratic pundit Bob Beckel, New York Republican Rep. Peter King, Carolla and others

“We believe it is a positive sign that the vast majority of Americans have rejected the type of guilt by association advocated by extremist commentators seeking to exploit the tragic events in Boston to further their personal agendas,” CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said in a statement. “As a nation, we have learned to judge a person based on their actions, not on their faith or ethnicity.”

Hate Crime Alert: Ohio Man Gets 20 Years In Prison For Setting Prayer Mat On Fire In Mosque

Arson at Ohio mosque nets US man 20 years in prison

CHICAGO: A US man who set fire to a prayer rug in an Ohio mosque was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to hate crime charges, officials said Tuesday.

"Hate crimes like this seek to damage more than buildings, they take aim at our American way of life," Steven Dettelbach, US Attorney for the northern district of Ohio, said in a statement.

"But today's 20-year prison sentence and the coming together of this community to support our Muslim neighbors show that our freedoms are stronger and more resilient than this man's hatred."

Randolph Linn, 52, admitted to leaving his home in Indiana and driving to the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo with the intent to damage a Muslim house of worship on September 30.

He loaded his red Chevy Sonic up with "numerous firearms and three red gas cans" and tried several times to get into the center before he finally managed to break in, prosecutors said.

Linn admitted to walking through several rooms with a handgun in his left hand before stepping back outside to grab a red gas can. He then poured the gasoline over a large rug in the prayer room and set fire to it.

As part of the plea deal, Linn agreed to pay for the water and fire damage to the center, which could exceed $1 million.

Prayer services resumed at the center on March 15 even though the restoration is not yet complete, the Islamic Center said in a notice on its website. - AFP

Minnesota Police Officer Apologizes To Muslims For Photo of Him Wearing a Burqa At Halloween

Perhaps a St. Paul policeman should just offer himself up for a beheading to Minnesota Muslims who were outraged at the fact that he donned a burqa to wear as his Halloween costume at a private party.

The St. Paul police officer seen dressed as a female Muslim Target store employee in a widely circulated and criticized Internet photo issued an apology Tuesday, Feb. 5, saying the image was "never meant to become public."

Robert Buth said the photo, which shows him wearing a Target name tag and red head and body covering that some Muslim women wear, was taken at a private Halloween party on personal time.

"I apologize to anyone who may have been offended by the recently publicized photo," Buth said in the statement. He said he regrets that the image "may have been viewed to be insensitive to the Muslim community."

The St. Paul police officer seen dressed as a female Muslim Target store employee in a widely circulated and criticized Internet photo issued an apology Tuesday, Feb. 5, saying the image was "never meant to become public."

Robert Buth said the photo, which shows him wearing a Target name tag and red head and body covering that some Muslim women wear, was taken at a private Halloween party on personal time.

"I apologize to anyone who may have been offended by the recently publicized photo," Buth said in the statement. He said he regrets that the image "may have been viewed to be insensitive to the Muslim community."

Buth, a 13-year veteran assigned the department's K-9 unit, also worked off-duty at the Target store at 1300 W. University Ave. in St. Paul.

Critics of the photo, which entered the spotlight after a Washington, D.C.-based journalist brought it to the attention of the police department via Twitter over the weekend, said the store has many Muslim customers and employees.

"I have enjoyed working with all of our diverse communities and look forward to working to repairing any damage which may have been caused," Buth said in the statement.

Immediate reaction to the apology was mixed. Some Twitter users wrote it didn't go far enough and called for Buth's firing. Others said they wanted more discussion about why the photo was offensive. Still others said the controversy was overly political and overblown.

Lori Saroya, executive director for
the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said Tuesday her organization welcomes the apology.

She said the group sent a letter to St. Paul Police asking the department to provide diversity training for Buth "to ensure his interactions with Muslim women in the course of his duties are professional and not based on prejudice and stereotypes."

The organization offers training that covers a basic introduction to Islamic practices, including traditional dress. Saroya said many corporations and some smaller law enforcement agencies already use the training, which will be available to Minneapolis and St. Paul police starting this summer..

She said the photo was particularly inappropriate for a police officer who likely interacts with Muslim women dressed in such a fashion on a regular basis.

"I think it just shows his ignorance, not understanding what it really means," she said. If it was meant as a joke, she said, "it's not funny."

The department said it already asks people from a variety of ethnic groups and communities to teach officers about their cultures and traditions during the police academy and yearly in-service training.

St. Paul Police Chief Thomas Smith also issued a statement Tuesday, saying he believes Buth's apology is sincere and that the officer "will he will work to correct any negative perceptions brought about by the image."

The apology "signifies an understanding that as a Saint Paul police officer, we are responsible for our actions both while on-duty and off-duty," Smith added in the statement.

Maki Haberfield, a law enforcement expert at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York, said that's a standard officers have to live with, even in their free time.

"If you are there to serve and protect, you're certainly not there to offend," said Haberfield, chair of the college's department of law, police science and criminal justice administration.

A police department investigation opened Monday is ongoing. Buth remains on duty.

Buth's record includes an oral reprimand in 2000 for a preventable accident and a one-day suspension in 2003 for using excessive force. He also receive a medal of merit in 2005 and has more than a dozen other thank-you letters and commendations noted in his personnel file.

Calls for Ritchie to be dropped from Canberra match


Organisers have called for former Test batsman Greg Ritchie to be removed from a cricket tournament featuring Muslim players in response to claims of racist and anti-Muslim comments.

Ritchie was scheduled to play for the Australian Cricket Association (ACA) Masters in a Twenty20 match against a World Defence XI team on November 24 at Canberra's Manuka Oval.

The match is the culmination of the International Defence Cricket Challenge, which starts on Wednesday and runs until November 23 and includes teams from the Royal Malaysian Air Force and the Pakistan Armed Forces.

Ritchie - who played 30 Tests between 1982 and 1987 - has been in the spotlight since comments he made during a lunchtime speech at the Brisbane Cricket Ground Trust members dining room on the first day of the Test against South Africa on Friday.

"I've got nothing against the Muslim people," Ritchie was reported as saying on Friday.

"Just this morning I had to try and stop three little Muslim boys trying to break the lock on my car boot.

"I had to say, 'Shut up! You're in there for a reason!"'

Ritchie also came under fire for accusations of racism by using the word "kaffir", which is a highly-offensive description of black people.

Tournament director Lieutenant-Colonel James Brownlie contacted the ACA on Monday and voiced his disapproval at Ritchie's presence given the large number of Muslim players involved in the Malaysian and Pakistan teams.

"We don't want Greg coming to the tournament," Colonel Brownlie told Fairfax.

"I don't know the exact number, but there's somewhere in between 35 and 40 Muslims competing in the tournament.

"The last thing I want is someone who has said something that could possibly degenerate what we're trying to achieve.

"They (the ACA) have agreed.

"I don't think they were aware there were so many Islamic people involved in the tournament, both from Malaysia and Pakistan.

"Once they understood my sensitivities, it was hardly an issue for them to make that call.

"It would have been difficult politically and culturally to have Greg come to the final, when our tournament motto is 'defence unity through cricket'."

ACA chief executive Paul Marsh said a decision on whether Ritchie would be withdrawn from the match had yet to be made.

"At this point in time we haven't had the chance to speak to Greg and we'll do so over the coming days," Marsh told Fairfax.

"From there I guess a decision will be made."

Ritchie has defended his comments, saying they were used as part of a light-hearted public speaking act.

"That's a joke that I use, and I'll continue to use it," he told Fairfax of the Muslim comment.

"It's just a little humorous joke to indicate that they're not my favourite people of my choice.

"If they take offence, that's their choice."

Cricket Australia has responded by ordering Ritchie to refrain from giving speaking engagements at Test venues.

Before making headlines, Ritchie had been heavily involved in charity work with the ACA Masters for many years since retiring from cricket.

"For all the criticism going Greg Ritchie's way, understand that he has raised many thousands of dollars for grassroots cricket over many years with the same style of speech," Marsh wrote on Twitter.

"I know Greg well, I don't believe he's racist and he's done plenty for grassroots cricket."

Cricket ACT declined to comment on whether or not Ritchie should be allowed to take part in the match because it was not an event they had organised.

Chelsea's Got Talent – Flacking for the Islamophobia Industry


Word is that former First Daughter Chelsea Clinton's career as an NBC special correspondent isn't going terribly well. Labeled the "Dork Diva" by one media blog, network officials complain about everything from her refusal to discuss growing up in the Clinton White House to what they consider her lack of story production (just a handful since starting there last year). "What's she giving us?" one NBC executive asked skeptically.

Many people think Chelsea will follow in the footsteps of parents Bill and Hillary and run for office if her television career implodes, but I disagree.

After watching her recent performance moderating a New York Jewish Community Center forum on "Islamophobia," it's apparent that mere election to Congress or some other public office wouldn't be the best use of Chelsea's talent.

But if she decided on a career as a public-relations spokesman for the "Islamophobia Industry," her growth potential would be limitless. When I refer to the Industry, I mean organizations like the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) and scores of like-minded groups that have proliferated across the United States during the past 20 years.

In general, these ideologues work to stifle legitimate debate by discrediting anyone who tries to point out the role of radical Islam in terrorism around the world or the radicalism in indoctrination centers and mosques like this, this, this and this as a bigot. The Industry also works to discredit successful prosecutions of jihadists seeking to attack the United States.

One weapon that has proven useful to the Industry is so-called "interfaith dialogue" involving Jewish and Islamic leaders. The Muslim participants tend to be Islamists, while their Jewish counterparts tend to be well-meaning "useful idiots" like Rabbi Marc Schneier, who has tried to establish a partnership with the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which is rooted in the Muslim Brotherhood. All too often, the result is a debacle in which the liberal Jews pine for dialogue while the Islamists stonewall and repeat anti-Semitic slanders.

And when Schneier (who heads a group called the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding, or FFEU) and Imam Muhammad Shamsi Ali joined Chelsea Clinton at the JCC March 14, things didn't go a whole lot better. Although it talks a lot about the virtues of diversity, the Islamophobia Industry portrays Muslim life in America in a bleak, one-dimensional way: as if Muslims here are little more than innocent victims of thuggish, bigoted non-Muslim gangs determined to punish them for 9/11 and subsequent jihadist actions.

I was taught a long time ago in Journalism 101 that the job of a journalist is to report on the news – not to act as an advocate or partisan. NBC's special correspondent views things a lot differently, declaring it is "the responsibility of the media to help ameliorate Islamophobia."

And that's precisely what Chelsea tried to do, tossing one softball after another to Ali and Schneier, parroting misinformation of her own and failing to question whoppers from the imam and the rabbi. Schneier, for example, bragged about his collaboration with hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons at FEU, but didn't get a single question from the moderator about Simmons' long history of sycophantic praise for Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, a notorious anti-Semite.

Nor did Chelsea seem well-informed about the Ground Zero Mosque controversy that heated up in 2010. She asked Schneier how "you think about trying to use the media to in many ways combat the media?" Chelsea suggested that Schneier might need to gear up for battle because "we saw such vitriolic statements covered widely in the media" with commentators using "terms that at best were insensitive to somewhere in the middle, or derogatory, and at worst were really dehumanizing." (She neglected to provide an example).

After Chelsea asked what the pair was doing to stop this, Schneier talked about his opposition to hearings on Islamist radicalization in the United States by House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Peter King, R-N.Y., and bragged about working with Islamist Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., in an effort to win the release of kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Schneier received thunderous applause from the audience when he described such work as an example of "the genuine authenticity that is needed for this Muslim/Jewish reconciliation."

Neither Schneier nor Chelsea Clinton bothered to mention that this "authenticity" came at a heavy price: the release of more than 1,000 imprisoned terrorist operatives, including planners of grisly attacks targeting civilians.

Just as the New York Times propagandized against "The Third Jihad" (a film spotlighting the threat posed by radical Islamist ideology), Chelsea falsely asserted that the film attacked "Muslim Americans" as a group as "somewhere on the continuum from deceitful to a terrorist in waiting." In fact, the documentary doesn't target Muslims as a group but does detail how CAIR was created after a secret 1993 meeting in Philadelphia involving members of the Muslim Brotherhood's Palestine Committee. The meeting was to generate support for the Hamas terror organization which runs Gaza today.

And Chelsea accepted without challenge Ali's disinformation about the word jihad. While he acknowledged it is a "scary word," Ali said people don't necessarily have to fear jihad, which can sometimes be a good thing. "We are doing a jihad. This is a jihad for peace, jihad for harmony, jihad for cooperation between people."

Chelsea appeared blissfully ignorant of Ali's links with Islamists and his criticism of the media for associating Muslims with jihadist terror.

The imam wasn't asked, for example, about his role as co-chairman of a 2006 Muslim Day Parade in which radical Imam Siraj Wahhaj, (a character witness for the "Blind Sheikh" at his terrorism trial) served as grand marshal.

After a Danish newspaper published cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohammad, Ali called the cartoons "psychological warfare against the Muslim world." At a protest outside the Danish consulate in New York City, Ali politely introduced speakers like Sara Flounders of the International Action Center, who called the cartoons "part of a war on all Muslim people" as well as conspiracy theorists who demanded that Washington end its support for "the racist occupying regime in Palestine."

Speaking at a 2008 conference sponsored by the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) and the Muslim American Society, Ali suggested that the media (rather than the jihadists) was to blame for connecting radical Islam and terror.

"The media is a culprit in damaging Islam's reputation," he said. "Such terms as 'Islamic terrorists,' 'Muslim radicals,' 'Shi'ite extremists,' 'Sunni bombers,' 'Islamic suicide bombers,' have become headlines."

Like Ali, Schneier directs much of his fire at Americans who have the temerity to ask difficult questions about radicalism and its origins. One of the rabbi's favorite targets has been Rep. King, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, who Schneier depicts as a contributor to anti-Muslim bigotry for investigating radicalism.

At a March 2011 press conference, Schneier said he shares Ellison's concern "that these hearings will only exacerbate anti-Muslim bigotry and Islamophobia in our country."

Schneier's own forays into "interfaith dialogue" haven't always proven to be unvarnished successes. Shortly after Nidal Hasan, an Islamist serving as a military psychiatrist, massacred 13 people at Ford Hood, Tex., Schneier described in the Washington Post the successes of a "Weekend of Twinning of Synagogues and Mosques."

Writing at Frontpagemag.com, Ilya Feoktistov of Americans for Peace and Tolerance described how one such "twinning" turned disastrous. A Buffalo, N.Y.-area Jewish geriatrician and a Muslim dentist attended a medical conference in Damascus, Syria. During a break in the conference, the Muslim escorted his Jewish counterpart to a nearby mosque where he was introduced to an imam who sounded moderate – at least in his English-language writings and remarks.

After Jewish officials in Buffalo had the imam's Arabic-language writings translated into English, they learned that he was virulent anti-Semite and a political ally of Syrian dictator Bashar Assad.

The Islamist radicals were doing this (with Schneier's unwitting help) because such "disingenuous interfaith dialogue with Jewish leaders is also a strategic force-multiplier for extremists," Feoktistov wrote. "The rest of American society tends to look to Jews on the topic of extremist bigotry and intolerance as the proverbial canary in the coal mine. By embracing radical Islamists in an official interfaith relationship, Jewish leaders give them a ticket into American institutions."

Interfaith dialogue between Jews and Muslims "can be valuable. Yet dialogue is only productive when it occurs with partners who are honest about their true intentions," he added. "Instead of promoting peace and tolerance, legitimizing such entities through interfaith partnerships will only promote the hatred they preach when they think the Jews aren't paying attention."

One person who hadn't been paying attention was Chelsea, who clearly knew nothing about such politically inconvenient facts. "I think it's part of what is so impressive about the work that you do, that it's not only dialogue, that it is motivated by a shared purpose to build a shared community, to build a shared future of the promised land," she gushed to Schneier and Ali.

While the younger Clinton's gullibility allowed plenty of opportunity for the rabbi and the imam to peddle disinformation, it's striking to note what didn't get talked about: Muslim violence against non-Muslims and Muslims alike. The JCC audience wasn't burdened with information about Taliban savagery towards women; al-Qaida attacks targeting Iraqi civilians; al-Shabaab's predations against Somalis, or annoyances like terrorist attacks targeting Christian communities in Egypt and Iraq.

No, this was a Kumbaya moment, and Chelsea wasn't about to let the facts get in the way of the rabbi and the imam's propaganda shtick. It is simply disgraceful that the leadership of the New York JCC, who should know better, allowed themselves to be used as a conduit for such one-sided agitprop.

Killing of Muslim Woman In California a Hate Crime? Not Likely

I truly applaud Gadi Adelman for this outstanding piece over at Family Security Matters as he has basically put into print what many of us have been thinking all along when it comes to the killing of Shaima Alawadi in California. From the first minute I heard of this murder and especially after I read what the note said next to her body, I thought "honor killing" and a coverup. Adelman does a masterful job here of laying out all of the questions that are unanswered and some of the key elements of the case and the police news conference that will lead most of you to the same conclusion that I came to ...that this is yet another case of a Muslim woman in America being killed in the name of Islamic honor and the attempt to cover it all up.

I encourage you to read the full article below and come to your own conclusions. Was this a hate crime where some American killers did in Shaima Alawadi because she was a Muslim or did someone that Shaima know kill her because she had shamed him, them or Islam in general?

Hate Crime, Not Likely


Shaima Alawadi, 32, a mother of 5 was found unconscious by her 17 year old daughter, in the dining room of the family’s home in El Cajon, CA about 11:15 a.m. March 21. Alawadi was taken off life support about 3 p.m. March 24. She died shortly thereafter.

The daughter who found her told KUSI Channel 9/51 her mother had been beaten in the head with a tire iron and a note near her mother stated,

“Go back to your own country, you’re a terrorist".

The family also told police they had received a similar threatening note several days earlier but considered it a prank by teenagers.

Let me state here that this is a brutal murder and regardless of what the investigation reveals, a 32-year-old mother of 5 was cruelly taken from her family.

The death of Shaima Alawadi comes on the heels of the Trayvon Martin shooting and people throughout the country are taking sides over whether Trayvon was a victim of racism. Add to that the note left by Shaima’s body and it’s no wonder that people right away start yelling “hate crime”.

On March 26, Jim Redman, the Chief of the El Cajon Police Department, held a 15 minute news conference that lead to more questions than answers. His statement was less than two minutes long, the 14 remaining minutes was a question/answer session with the press.

In the first minute of the conference Chief Redman explained the note,

“Based on the contents of this note we are not ruling out the possibility this may be a hate crime.”

He stated the note “was threatening in nature” but continued with,

“I want to stress there is other evidence in this case that we are looking at and the possibility of a hate crime is just one of the aspects of this investigation.”

Redman then stated it was “isolated”,

“Based on the evidence thus far, we believe this is an isolated incident.”

First red flag, how can this be an isolated incident if it was hate crime? Would the Chief make such a statement if he had evidence there were a person or persons running around murdering Muslims?

The very first question asked was about the note,

“Could the note possibly be a red herring or possibly family members or something like that as well?”

The answer that the Chief gave would remain the same for most of the questions,

“I can’t get into that; I just have to maintain my statement that we are looking at all aspects of this case”.

Questions that followed attempted to get the Chief to reveal more to no avail,

“What other evidence are you referring to, is it forensics?”

Chief Redman stuck to his initial statement and explained,

“Any further discussion on the evidence would compromise this investigation. I really have to stress that we can’t go any further in to the evidence of this case, I apologize for that.”

When asked if all the family members had been interviewed he answered, “Yes”. The reporter repeated “all of them, including the husband?” Redman stated “all of them, including the husband.”

The Chief refused to discuss the contents of the note found near the body. When told by a reporter that the 17-year-old daughter had specifically stated on TV what was in the note, the reporter asked if it was accurate. Redman stated,

“We’re not going to reveal any further details on the note other than it was threatening in nature.”

The Chief refused to confirm if a tire iron was the weapon used or if it had been found. He did explain that only one search warrant had been issued and that was on the home of the victim, where she was found.

Asked about another note that had been reported, the Chief explained that there was another “threatening note” that had been found by the family within the last month, but the family did not call the police or keep the note.

Red flag number two; so this other note was only mentioned to the police after Alawadi was beaten, it was not kept and never seen by police investigators.

Chief Redman stated “We’re confident that we’ll be able to solve this case, I can’t reveal any timeline, but we are examining evidence and we’re confident we’ll be able to resolve this case.”

When asked “Do you have any persons of interest”, the Chief stated “no, we do not.” Asked if “there is a description of the suspect”, he answered “not at this time.”

The answer to the follow up question of “There’s no suspect, correct, or is there?” is red flag number 3. The Chief stated “I can’t reveal any details of that at this time.”

When asked the question,

“If you think this is an isolated incident, or, how do you assure residents of El Cajon that they don’t need to be concerned if we don’t know a lot about this case?”

The answer goes back to the first red flag, Chief Redman stated,

“I wish I could reveal more, but I really can’t because it would compromise the investigation, but I just want to assure the citizens of El Cajon that we believe, we strongly believe that this was an isolated incident.”

When asked about hostility towards the Muslim community in the area, the chief stated that there was “no free flowing hostility” in the community.

Asked about finger prints on the note, Chief Redman said, “I can’t reveal that.”

When asked about Alawadi’s “whereabouts and activity that morning prior to being found” as well as “what happened that morning with the kids going to school”, Redman only stated, “I can’t comment on that.”

Asked “did you say it was a forced entry to the house”, Redman stated, “there was a broken window, but we can’t reveal any further information than that.” The reporter followed up with “and that looks like how they had gotten in?” the Chief said, “Can’t reveal any farther, sorry.”

When asked whether or not “there was a history of domestic violence”, Redman stated, “none that we know of so far.”

Red flag number 4 is the answer to the question why they were so sure it was “an isolated incident and does that mean it’s less likely that it was a hate crime?” The Chief stated,

“I can’t comment on the evidence or the reasons why we believe it’s an isolated incident other than to just assure the community that that’s our strong belief.”

The last red flag is because of the question that was asked about family interviews, the Chief was asked about follow up interviews with the family and Redman stated “We’ve conducted interviews” and then a reporter asked if any persons of interest were being interviewed and his answer was the same,

“We’ve conducted interviews; I can’t reveal the details of the interviews, so I won’t answer that question.”

So where am I going with all this you may ask. As explained in an article from August 2010 titled “Fake Hate Crimes: An Islamist Weapon”, by Ryan Mauro,

CAIR called on the FBI to investigate an act of arson at a Georgia mosque, saying that hate crimes were increasing because of a “vocal minority in our society promoting anti-Muslim bigotry.” The Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA) referred to it as one of the “incidents of Islamophobia [that] are on the rise in this country.” However, police later arrested a Muslim suspect.

He cites several cases within the article,

A classic example occurred in 2008, when a 19-year-old female Muslim student named Safia Z. Jilani at Elmhurst College in Illinois claimed that she had been pistol-whipped in a campus restroom by a male who then wrote “Kill the Muslims” on the mirror. The alleged attack occurred just hours after she spoke at a “demonstration called to denounce the anti-Islamic slurs and swastika she had discovered … in her locker.” A week later, however, authorities determined that none of this had taken place and she was charged with filing a false police report.

In other cases, individuals are driven to fabricate hate crimes not for political reasons, but to cover up more mundane criminal activity. Take the bizarre story of Musa and Essa Shteiwi, Ohio men who received media attention in 2006 after reporting several attacks on their store, the third being with a Molotov cocktail. A fourth “attack” then occurred, when an explosion was set off and badly burned the father and son, injuries from which they later died. CAIR highlighted it as a hate crime. However, investigators found that the two had set off the explosion themselves after they poured gasoline in preparation for another staged incident and one of them foolishly lit a cigarette. The pair had hired a former employee to carry out the previous attacks as part of an insurance fraud scheme.

There are several other cases within the article, but too many to list all here.

Daniel Pipes did a report back in 2005 on this same subject titled “CAIR's Hate Crimes Nonsense”, he lists 6 cases in which the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) gave examples of anti-Muslim hate crime reports and he “discovered a pattern of sloppiness, exaggeration, and distortion”.

I myself have written on this subject before as well. My article last may on Fatima Abdallah was just one example of an ‘honor killing’ that was ruled a suicide. No, it was accidental, or was it both? The Tampa Florida police and the Medical examiner never did agree, but as I explained in the article,

Fatima Abdallah died after she allegedly beat her own head against a coffee table and then on the floor until she died. Her death was ruled accidental and the case was closed.

This goes much farther than the obvious ludicrousness that someone would commit suicide by beating their own head on a table. The inconsistencies in the police reports and statements, the 911 call report, the Tampa Fire Department medics and the Medical examiner are astounding.

My first thought when I heard about the beating and death of Shaima Alawadi was that it was another ‘honor killing’ that would be covered up. It’s not that I don’t believe that someone would murder a Muslim for being a Muslim, no; this was because of past history.

Now I am even more convinced due to the press conference by Chief Redman of the El Cajon Police. If a member of her family did kill Shaima in the name of honor, what better way to cover it up than by writing a note and breaking a window?

The reports on hate crimes by our FBI show that crimes against Muslims continue to go down each and every year. I touched on this in my article just last week,

…the recently released FBI crime statistics from 2010... The stats section of Religious bias once again shows that anti-Jewish hate crimes were far and above that of Islamic hate crimes,

Of the 1,552 victims of an anti-religion hate crime:

67.0 percent were victims of an offender’s anti-Jewish bias.

12.7 percent were victims of an anti-Islamic bias.

I have written too many articles on honor killings here in the U.S. and I am certain this one will be added to the list.

There is only one way that the El Cajon police could be so certain that this was “an isolated incident”. There is only one reason the Chief would make a public statement saying he wanted to “assure the citizens of El Cajon that we believe, we strongly believe that this was an isolated incident.”

That would be if they knew without a shadow of a doubt that whoever committed this murder was a threat only to Shaima Alawadi and no one else.

My hat’s off to Chief Redman and his department, it sounds to me thus far that they are truly looking in to every aspect of this murder and not jumping on the “Islamophobic” band wagon.

Only time will tell if I am right, but at least so far this case doesn’t look like it is going to end up like the Tampa, Florida case being swept under the proverbial prayer rug. Either way, as I stated in the outset, this is a brutal murder and regardless of what the investigation reveals, a 32-year-old mother of 5 was cruelly taken from her family.

If I am right, perhaps we will hear some outcry from the Women’s rights groups this time.

When I went to sleep last night, little did I know that while outside sirens competed with car alarms in the symphony that is New York City, I had already been declared a hate group.

Being declared a hate group wasn't in my plans for the day, but like winning the lottery, it seems to be one of those things that happens when you least expect it. Except that as the little bald man in front of the bodega tells you, you have to play to win, but you don't even have to buy a ticket to be declared an official hate group.

My first response on finding out that I was now a hate group was to look around to see where everyone else was. A hate group needs the group part and one man and a cat don't seem to be enough. Even when the cat is a well known bigot who hates mice, birds, car alarms that go off in the middle of the night, the plumber and sudden noises.

Still the Southern Poverty Law Center had listed, "Sultan Knish a blog by Daniel Greenfield" as one of their Active Anti-Muslim Hate Groups, alongside such other vast organizations as "Faith Freedom", a website for ex-Muslims, and "Casa D'Ice Signs", the signs on a bar located on K-Mart Plaza in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.

Someone with less faith in the fact checking abilities of the Southern Poverty Law Center might have thought that whoever had made up this list had no clue that "Casa D'Ice" was a lounge with signs outside, that there was no such group as "Casa D'Ice Signs" and that signs are pieces of plastic and not a hate group. But I had faith that the Center knew more than I did. Perhaps its crack team of researchers had learned that the signs had come alive and formed their own hate group, somehow arranging their own letters to form messages about illegal immigration and the need to get out of Iraq.

My first thought was to wonder whether some mistake had been made in my own case, but the Southern Poverty Law Center people are experts on hate groups, even if they don't seem to know what the definitions of "hate" or "groups" or "hate groups" might be. Even if they seem to have copied their list off a forum somewhere at the last minute to have something to show the donors. Clearly I was now a hate group and with tax season upon us, I called my accountant to find out if there was a tax deduction for that. There wasn't.

As a consolation though, I was listed as "active", which I took as a compliment because I had jogged a few miles yesterday and clearly the Southern Poverty Law Center had noticed. They also listed me as being in New York, which showed that the Center was well aware that it was aggressively trespassing above its jurisdiction below the Mason-Dixon Line and invading the north.

The Southern Poverty Law Center's "Hate Map" (TM), which is either a map of hate groups or a map of groups that the center hates, had me floating somewhere in the East River next to the National Black Foot Soldier Network and the National Socialist Movement in Long Island. Say what you will, but I think it's a real tribute to the broadminded diversity of the city that there's room for all of us there, from Catholic Family News to the Nation of Islam to the newest massively organized hate group-- me.

I had fewer members, especially if you don't count the cat, and no uniforms or jackboots, but I had to soldier on. The Southern Poverty Law Center was in desperate need of more hate groups to fight and I couldn't let them down. It's not easy running a 216 million dollar organization which has been described as the country's richest civil rights organization with misleading fundraising practices.

Having succeeded in such diverse areas as being George McGovern's national finance director, Carter's national finance director and national finance chairman for Ted Kennedy's presidential campaign, SPLC head honcho Morris Dees doesn't have many options except to collect his 0.95 percent compensation and solicit more donations to fight active hate groups like me and that guy who puts up signs on his bar. I knew that I couldn't let him down.

Every time the Southern Poverty Law Center sent out another begging letter asking donors to help an organization with a mere 216 million dollar endowment fight an impossible uphill battle against Bare Naked Islam, Atlas Shrugs and Concerned Citizens for the First Amendment, I had to do my part so that all the poor employees of the Southern Poverty Law Center would have enough to eat that night.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which seems to have expanded beyond its core mission of using the law to impoverish people in the south, to qualify as an Anti-Muslim hate group, you had to believe such outrageous filthy things as the notion that Islam might be "sanctioning pedophilia, marital rape and child marriage".

People who believe such Islamophobic nonsense include the Ayatollah Khamenei, the Grand Mufti of Australia and whoever wrote the Koran, which says, "marry of women as may be agreeable to you, two, or three, or four".

Quickly I understood that I was now part of a much bigger Anti-Muslim hate group than I had realized. This Islamophobic group included all of Islam. Was it possible for Islam itself to be an Anti-Muslim hate group? It seemed mind-boggling, but there could be no other answer.

Pakistan, which had legalized the marriage of 12 year olds, was surely the base for a major Anti-Islamic hate group which was doing its best to demean Islam. It also appeared to be conspiring to depict Muslims as "irrational, intolerant and violent", which was another check box on the SPLC list. But the story didn't end there.

"These groups also typically hold conspiratorial views regarding the inherent danger to America posed by its Muslim-American community." Now it appeared that Anti-Islam hate groups included the FBI and the NYPD, which were notorious for suspecting that Muslim-Americans might be terrorists and arresting them and detaining them for doing nothing more than practicing some aspects of their religion.

Suddenly it wasn't just one man and a cat-- it was the entire Muslim world, the FBI, the NYPD and it didn't end there. The Southern Poverty Law Center's own website had a list of Top 10 Jihadists, slurring the names of such respectable practitioners of traditional Islam as Anwar Al-Awlaki, a Muslim cleric who appeared on PBS, NPR and many other outlets to explain the peaceful nature of Islam and Abdullah Muhammad, whom the Center outrageously suggests was conspiring to terrorize South Park for mocking the other Muhammad, the one who in a bid to make Islam look bad practiced pedophilia, marital rape and child marriage.

Even the Southern Poverty Law Center had exposed itself as an Anti-Islam hate group, and how could I or anyone else trust it to assemble a reliable Anti-Islam hate group list, when it had left itself off that list.

It was hard for me to accept that a group of intrepid researchers who had cluelessly listed Ann Barnhardt twice, listed Silver Bullet Gun Oil, a weapons lubricant, as a hate group, listed single- author blogs like mine, Pamela Geller's and Bonni Intall's as "hate groups" could possibly be wrong. How could an organization which wrote down "Casa D'Ice Signs" as a hate group without realizing that Casa D'Ice was a bar, make a mistake?

But there was no way around it. The SPLC had proven to be Islamophobes and couldn't be trusted anymore. And so I could no longer take their word that I and my cat were a Hate Group. Though Morris Dees may have to go hungry to bed tonight, I must decline the honor of posing as a hate group in order to help him defraud his donors. But I will always remember the brief four hours when I had my own hate group.

Boo Hoo....Those Darn U.S. Politicians Are ALL Islamophobic!

Running against Islam

Every political season has its hot-button issues. There's race, abortion, lunar colonies. But the hottest hot-button issue these days, judging from comments by Republican presidential hopefuls as well as what happened during the 2010 mid-term elections in the US, is Islam.

Islam dominated the headlines during the summer of 2010. Remember Terry Jones and his pledge to burn the Koran? Or those persistent rumors of President Barack Obama's Muslim faith? Plus, of course, that controversy over Park51, the Islamic cultural center planned for Lower Manhattan. Those 2010 elections became a litmus test for how a lot of American politicians stood on Islam. An embarrassing number of them are against it.

Although they flirt with racism, sexism, and homophobia at their



own risk, US politicians indulge in anti-Islamic sentiment with near impunity.

One reason for that is the antipathy that nearly half of Americans feel toward Islam. According to a September 2011 study from the Brookings Institution and the Public Religion Research Institute, 47 percent of Americans believe that Islam doesn't jibe with American values. Republicans are more likely than Democrats to hold this view.

But the real dividing line runs right through the Republican Party. If you watch Fox News or belong to the Tea Party, according to that study, you're primed to see Islam as a threat. As a result, the presidential hopefuls have used Islam to mark their political territory and fire up their base.

Newt Gingrich, who once compared the Park51 organizers to Nazis, has waged a long campaign against the putative threat of sharia law in the United States. Yet virtually no one in the small Muslim-American community supports replacing US laws with Islamic law. Rick Santorum, meanwhile, has argued that Islam hasn't generated a concept of equality and that Muslims don't worship the Judeo-Christian God, even though equality is central to Islam and "Allah" in the Koran refers to the God of Muslims, Christians, and Jews.

Only Ron Paul has forthrightly rejected Islamophobia. He even connects the anti-Islamic sentiment that's rife at home with the wars the US wages against majority-Muslim countries.

So far, Mitt Romney has largely remained above the fray. He often resorts to carefully couched phrases like "Islam is not an inherently violent faith". But the man who has changed his position on so many issues may well be laying the groundwork for another flip-flop.

Walid Phares, a right-wing pundit and prominent Islamophobe, is one of Romney's advisers. And the pro-Romney super PAC (political action committee) Restore Our Future is masterminded by Larry McCarthy, the attack-ad specialist. McCarthy not only designed the Willie Horton spot that swung the 1988 presidential race in George H W Bush's favor, he also put together an error-laced ad about Park51 that nearly deep-sixed Iowa Democrat Representative Bruce Baley in his 2010 re-election bid.

It's not just the Republicans. Despite his effort to reset US relations with the Islamic world, many of Obama's policies have infuriated Muslims. Whether it's the wars that generate civilian casualties who are invariably Muslim, the proxy detentions of Muslim-Americans by other countries, or the expansion of the surveillance of Muslim-Americans at home, his administration has worked hard not to appear "weak on Islam". Add in worsening relations with Iran, and you've got a toxic combination.

Certainly, the economy remains the key campaign issue. But as the Republican hopefuls sharpen their attacks on one another and prepare for a showdown with Obama in the autumn, don't be surprised if Islam becomes as defining a political issue as communism was during the Cold War. If politicians push back against this new McCarthyism, we could avoid a repeat of the ugly Islamophobia of 2010. But thanks to no-holds-barred advertising and lots of it, not to mention a pervasive lack of understanding about the world's second-largest religion, the hot-button issue of Islam might just get a lot hotter.

Finnish Member of Parliament Convicted of Hate Speech Against Muslims

Behold our future, America. When you look at the conviction and fine of a member of Finland's Parliament for his comments about Islam in Finland, you will notice that probably 100 individuals in America could have been convicted of the same crime and if we don't wake up here, that is exactly what will happen.

This story from Tundra Tabloids ought to shock the hell out of you. You don't think Finland doesn't have "freedom of speech?" Or used to anyway?

Look at this man's statements and tell me what exactly isn't the TRUTH.

Member of Parliament, James Hirvisaari fined for incitement against ethnic group

HS: What True Finns MP James Hirvisaari published in a blog post on 4 February 2010 at the UusiSuomi online newspaper service, has been given a verdict.

Kouvola Court of Appeal has convicted the True Finns MP, James Hirvisaari, with a fine for ethnic agitation. According to the court what he wrote in his blog was offensive to Muslims. The fine was equal to 1425 euros.

Päijät-Häme district court previously dismissed the indictment against Hirvisaari, because it didn’t deem the writings as disparaging. The district court’s view was that a politician has the right to criticize immigration policy.

The Court of Appeal decided the matter differently. According to it Hirvisaari’s web writings was sweeping and discriminatory, and specified a group of people as criminals.

The Court of Appeal took the view that the characterizing of an ethnic group as criminal isn’t within the limits of free speech as generalization and a provocation.
True Finns Party parliamentary group chairman, Pirkko Ruohonen-Lerner believes that they’ll take a position on the case, when the decision is final. Although this might still go to the Supreme Court.

Michele Bachmann Makes Iranian "Islamophobe" Hit List

Rep. Michele Bachmann should wear the Iranian designation of her as a member of “The Roots of the Islamophobia Network in America” as a badge of honor - she's in esteemed company as Iran's Press TV has issued a list of Americans - both political and non-political that have made the so-called "hit list."

The article also castigates the chair of the Homeland Security Committee in the U.S. House, Rep. Peter King; the chair of a subcommittee on Intelligence, Rep. Sue Myrick, and others. The list expands to include Rep. Paul Broun, Rep. Allen West, Rep. Renee Ellmers and presidential candidate Michele Bachmann.

It's my hope that the American people will view this list as true Americans who have rightfully identified the threat to America by radical Islam and its evil tentacles of Sharia Law and that these people will be heralded as true patriots.

The Iranians are banking on the same thing happening in America that happened in Europe where any resistance to the global domination aims of Islam was labeled as islamophobic and xenophobic and the multiculturalists gained the upper hand in determining policy and laws. Well, not so fast. You see, America is just a wee bit different than Europe, boys.

Let me put it this way, any American who lashes out at an American on some "hit list" from Iran is a flat out traitor. It will be a cold day in Hell when I will support anything, ANYTHING that comes out of the black towers of Tehran.

Iranian News Agency Publishes List of U.S. Citizens and Lawmakers


Iran’s Khomeinist news agency, Press TV – long recognized for its Jihadist-supporting broadcasts – has published what is being referred to as a veritable “hit piece” against many leading U.S. media companies, commentators, antiterrorism experts, legislators, and at least one presidential candidate – calling several by name – in what the news agency considers to be “The Roots of the Islamophobia Network in America.” And what observers fear may reveal a more sinister motive.

The article entitled, “U.S. Empire foments Islamophobia,” and based on a just-released report by the Center for American Progress, contends there is a conspiracy by these so-named (primarily conservative) organizations and individuals to foment fears about Islam.

Press TV is funded almost exclusively by Iranian petrodollars (oil profits) from the same regime that funds and directs global terrorist organizations like the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (the IRGC which is also known as the Pasdaran), the IRGC’s Quds Force, Lebanon’s Hizballah, and others; all of which are designated foreign terrorist organizations by the U.S. government and other countries.

The annual budget of Press TV is approximately $25 million according to estimates. And according to reports from the Iranian opposition – specifically the Green Movement – Press TV is directly controlled by the Pasdaran. The agency broadcasts the tightly-controlled propaganda of the Iranian regime, and it prepares the ground – so to speak – for future propagandizing against any real or perceived enemies of the Iranian Islamic state.

In the past, Press TV has focused its efforts against the U.S. and Europe, Arab moderates (including Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Morocco). Moreover, the agency has proven to be a standard-bearer for Hizballah, the Mahdi Army in Iraq, the Houthis in Yemen, and all of Iran's allies worldwide. In addition to its operations in Tehran, Press TV operates in Beirut, from where the agency vigorously supports and promotes the leadership of Hizballah, and frequently interviews so-called experts who support Iran, Hizballah, and Hamas.

The article goes on to target national media such as FOX News (particularly Sean Hannity) – accusing the network of fueling anti-Muslim sentiment – the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN), the Washington Times, National Review (including Andy McCarthy, former Assistant U.S. Attorney who prosecuted the terrorists in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing), former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Frank Gaffney, well-known lawyer David Yerushalmi and Professor Walid Phares. Private foundations are even named: Donors Capital Fund, the Richard Mellon Scaife Foundation, Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation, Newton Becker foundation, and others.

The article continues, “State-based, local, and Tea Party organizations … [are examples] of the muscles of Islamophobia network.” Other groups named include Act! for America (headed by Lebanese Christian-born Brigitte Gabriel) and the David Horowitz Freedom Center. Frankly, the list drones on-and-on lambasting everyone from noted Christian leaders to conservative radio personalities.

According to one NGO official, “This article is disturbing because it demonstrates that the Iranian-funded propaganda has marked its targets within the United States, in much the same way Hizballah marked its targets in Lebanon with smear campaigns before terrorist attacks were actually launched against those like former prime minister Rafiq Hariri, and parliamentarians Jebran Tueni and Walid Eido.”

The publishing of the article shoehorns into what the NGO official says is “a string of reports and letters posted and circulated by the Western-based – more particularly U.S.-based – Islamist elements since late last year.” The official says, the “reports and letters targeted every public figure or well-known voice in the debate on the Jihadi threat.

Moreover, the campaign led by the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and its allies against U.S. Rep Peter King, included a letter sent out by CAIR director Nihad Awad which vigorously condemned the expert witnesses said to have been invited to testify on Jihadi terrorism, including: Former Dutch parliamentarian Ayaan Hirsi Ali, American Islamic Forum for Democracy chair Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, and Professor Phares.

CAIR – a Muslim Brotherhood front group, as well as an offshoot of Hamas – is also an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2007-2008 Holy Land Foundation case (Foundation members were found guilty of “providing material support to a foreign terrorist,” among other charges.). Though CAIR has Salafi Islamist roots, the connection to Hamas links it to Iran and Hizballah.

None of this is surprising being that there we are witnessing increasing unified-coordination between both Sunni and Shia Islamists in the efforts against the West, especially against those who dare to speak out against Jihad. But it is disturbing. And this effort includes planned initiatives by some well-heeled Islamist groups to implement worldwide “criminalization” of any and all criticism of Islam.

We see the clear common goals of both CAIR and Press TV. We see similar strategies to achieve those goals. And we see the immediate strategy in the form of a series of smear campaigns against American leaders and citizens – publicly naming names of those – who are educating the public about a serious national security threat.

An Iran analyst based in Europe tells us, "This is like a fatwa, and if it is the case, this would be dangerous for all people named."

Experts believe – based on previous actions – that Jihadists will issue lists of targeted enemies, so that the Jihadi terrorists closest to those targets will know who the enemy is.

The Press TV article – to include those who funded and published it – should not be taken lightly. This was not simply an opinion piece. This was a list of names published in international media by a state-run news agency; a state designated by the U.S. State Dept. as a “state sponsor of terrorism.” Additionally, the U.S. government must look into the series of tracts and letters written and disseminated since the beginning of the year targeting Americans who are attempting to educate the public about the very real Jihadist threat.
