Good grief.  Vice President Joe Biden (also know as the country's crazy old Uncle Joe) is now saying that diplomacy with Iran is still in the cards.  Yeah right Joe, why don't you set up a series of six months of round table discussions with these assholes and the whole time you can look out the window and watch the fucking uranium get enriched.

Good job America - you left the safety of your children and their children to this putz and the Muslim in Chief.

Biden: ‘Still Space for Diplomacy’ With Iran to Succeed

(CNSNews.com) – Reacting to a fresh invitation from the Obama administration for bilateral talks, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said Sunday Iran is a “rational” player that wants to resolve outstanding international issues through negotiation, but the United States must stop sending “contradictory signals” such as threatening to keep all options on the table.

Addressing the annual Munich Security Conference in Germany on Saturday, Vice President Joe Biden reaffirmed that an offer first made four years ago remains open.

He quoted his own words to the same conference in February 2009, when he had said, “We will be willing to talk to Iran and offer a very clear choice: Continue down the course and there will be continued pressure and isolation; abandon the illicit nuclear program and your support for terrorism, there will be meaningful incentives.”

“As President Obama has made clear to Iranian leaders, our policy is not containment,” Biden told his audience on Saturday. “It is to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. But we’ve also made clear that Iran’s leaders need not sentence their people to economic deprivation and international isolation.

“There is still time, there is still space for diplomacy, backed by pressure, to succeed."

Asked about this during a brief question-and-answer session, Biden said the administration has made it clear from the outset that “we would be prepared to meet bilaterally with the Iranian leadership.”

“We would not make it a secret that we were doing that. We would let our partners know if that occasion presented itself,” he continued. “That offer stands, but it must be real and tangible, and there has to be an agenda that they’re prepared to speak to. We are not just prepared to do it for the exercise.”

A day earlier, Biden told the German daily Suddeutsche Zeitung that the U.S. believed “there is time and space for successful diplomacy, supported by economic pressure.” He added that “this window will not remain open indefinitely.”

Salehi, also attending the Munich conference, told the meeting on Sunday that his country viewed the latest U.S. statements “with positive consideration.”

“I think this is a step forward,” he said in English. “But please, do note that each time we have come and negotiated, it was the other side, unfortunately, who did not heed to its commitment.”

According to Iran’s official IRNA news agency, Salehi also said dialogue had to include an end to “threatening rhetoric, and a change in attitude” by Washington.

“We value our independence very dearly,” IRNA quoted him as saying. “We are no longer in the political orbit of the Western powers and no country can look down on us any longer.”

Salehi also addressed the issue in media interviews, telling Iran’s Press TV that Tehran “will have to wait a little bit longer to see if their gesture is this time a real gesture.”

“We are a rational government and we look into resolving all outstanding international issues through negotiation,” Salehi added. “Conflict is not the way. Engagement is the way.”

‘Iran is much stronger than Iraq and Afghanistan’

For more than three years the administration – including Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – has been warning Iran that the U.S.’s patience is not unlimited, and that the “window” for engagement is closing.

Over roughly the period of Obama’s first term, Iran has increased its holdings of low-enriched uranium (LEU) more than eight-fold, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) – from 839 kilograms in November 2008 to 6,876 kilograms in October 2012.

The Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security says 6,876 kilograms of LEU, “if further enriched to weapon grade, is enough to make over six nuclear weapons.”

Iran insists that its uranium-enrichment program is for purely peaceful purposes.

The IAEA told member states last month that Iran has informed the agency of plans to upgrade its uranium-enrichment facilities at Natanz, allowing a stepped-up rate of enrichment.

White House spokesman Jay Carney told a press briefing on Thursday that the planned installation of new, advanced centrifuges was “a further escalation,” in violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions.

“We continue to believe that there is time and space for diplomacy to work, but actions like this undercut the efforts of the international community to resolve its concerns over Iran’s nuclear weapons.”

In an interview with Iran’s Mehr news agency last week Ali Akbar Velayati, foreign relations advisor to supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said the Americans had “failed” in Iraq and Afghanistan, and “if they are rational, they will forget launching a military strike against Iran.”

“Today, the U.S. is weaker than the time when she invaded Iraq,” he said. “And Iran is much stronger than Iraq and Afghanistan.”

A new round of “P5+1” talks with the Iranians over the nuclear issue has been scheduled for later this month, in Kazakhstan. The last was held in Moscow last June. The countries involved are the five permanent members of the Security Council – the U.S., Russia, China, Britain and France – and Germany.

While Joe Biden will more than likely celebrate the end of the Iraq War this week in his debate with Paul Ryan and undoubtedly, Biden will take credit for assisting in ending that war, it's my guess that Martha Raddatz, the ABC correspondent who is moderating the debate, won't point to the news out today from this article at Poughkeepsie Journal  that states how al Qaeda in Iraq is making a disturbing resurgence and comeback in Iraq.

I would love to hear Biden's response to this - this is the same man that declared that the Taliban weren't our enemy in Afghanistan ... so what does Joe have in mind to shore up Iraq?  Perhaps Biden will use the debate forum to announce that if we had listened to him years ago and partitioned Iraq into three separate countries all would be cool right now.

The new growth of al-Qaida in Iraq, also known as the Islamic State of Iraq, is not entirely unexpected. Last November, the top U.S. military official in Iraq, Army Gen. Lloyd Austin, predicted "turbulence" ahead for Iraq's security forces. But he doubted Iraq would return to the days of widespread fighting between Shiite militias and Sunni insurgents, including al-Qaida, that brought the Islamic country to the brink of civil war.

While there's no sign of Iraq headed back toward sectarian warfare — mostly because Shiite militias are not retaliating to their deadly attacks — al-Qaida's revival is terrifying to ordinary Iraqis.

Generally, the militant group does not does not launch attacks or otherwise operate beyond Iraq's borders. For years, it has targeted Shiite pilgrims, security forces, officials in the Shiite-led government and — until it left — the U.S. military. On Tuesday, a series of bombings and drive-by shootings killed six people, including three soldiers and a judge, in Baghdad and the former al-Qaida strongholds of Mosul and Tal Afar in northern Iraq.

Report: Bin Laden Wanted Al Qaeda To Assassinate Obama So Biden Would Be President (because Biden is so incompetent)

This story is actually pretty funny - actually, I guess it isn't very funny if you are Vice President Joe Biden but to hear the former top dog of all islamic terror in the world say that he wants to assassinate the President of the U.S.A. because the VP, Biden, is so incompetent that America would fall apart, is pretty damn funny.

The report, from DAWN, also states that bin Laden wanted General David Petraeus taken out as well.

Bin Laden wanted to kill the US president because “Obama is the head of infidelity and killing him automatically will make Vice President Joe Biden take over the presidency,” according to a document purported to come from the compound.

“Biden is totally unprepared for that post, which will lead the US into a crisis. As for Petraeus, he is the man of the hour, and killing him would alter the war’s path in Afghanistan.”

The scheme was described in one of the documents taken from bin Laden’s compound by US forces on May 2, 2011, the night he was killed, and made available to Washington Post opinion writer David Ignatius.

The other funny part of this story is when you read between the lines or more specifically, when you look at what isn't there - bin Laden wanted Biden in charge for the above stated reasons but bin Laden said nothing about squashing the effectiveness of Obama...he purely states that Obama is a figurehead whose removal would get them a total incompetent in charge in America.

Now, the irony of all of this is that Obama chose Biden for Vice President for one reason and one reason only - the supposed expertise Biden had in foreign affairs and defense...and here we have the most famous terrorist in world history stating that they WANTED Biden in charge. Nice choice of VP there Barry.

A what if with the outcome of Joe Biden becoming President.

The summer of 2012 was one of turmoil. The Republican primary remained hotly contested up until the convention. Mitt Romney eventually prevailed and named governor Chris Christie from New Jersey as his running mate.

On May 5, 2012, Israel conducted surgical strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. The immediate results of these strikes were unclear but as the United States stood idly by, the Arab outrage against Israel and the west increased exponentially and by June, gasoline prices in the US averaged 8 dollars per gallon. Whatever so called economic recovery the mainstream media had tried to invent was shattered. In spite of attempts to cover the facts, the unemployment rate charged up to around 11 percent and the stock market took a tumble below 8000 by the beginning of July.

In September and October the Romney campaign hammered Obama relentlessly over his desertion of our Israeli ally, his failure to build the Keystone pipeline, his failure to lift the moratorium on gulf drilling, and the continuing intrusion of the federal government by Obamacare. In spite of all this the polls showed the race between Obama and Romney to be a dead heat up until the very last minute.

On Tuesday November 6, 2012, the presidential election resulted in an electoral tie with both Romney and the President receiving 269 electoral votes. Obama actually won the popular vote by a scant 52,000 votes. The Republicans easily held control of the House of Representatives and in fact gained 4 seats. The Senate was shifted with 50 seats held by Republicans, 48 seats held by Democrats, and 2 seats held by independents. The two independents had historically caucused with the Democrats.

Most ignorant Democrat voters and many ignorant Republican voters were unaware that in the event of an electoral tie, the incoming House of Representatives would, according to the 12th amendment of the Constitution, choose the President while the Senate would select the Vice President.

The mainstream media went immediately to work informing the masses that Mitt Romney would no doubt be the 45th President of the United States. A tremendous outcry went up and rioting occurred in the streets of major cities. Accusations of racism and theft of the election were alive and well in the mainstream news. Al Sharpton and the "reverend" Jesse Jackson were happy as larks as they stirred the racial flames. Hundreds died as local police and fire departments were overwhelmed by angry, racially charged mobs. The National Guard was heavily deployed in many places around the country. In spite of this violence continued.

Gasoline remained at around 8 dollars a gallon and in December of 2012, Egypt and Syria launched all out attacks against Israel. The United States finally had to act and supported Israel in a shooting war against its Arab neighbors mainly with airstrikes from carrier based aircraft from the Mediterranean and the Red Sea.

In the meantime, the stock market began to make a slow recovery and the unemployment rate began to drop in hopes that a new Romney presidency would create a more business friendly environment. This good news, however, was largely ignored as much of America burned and war raged in the middle east.

In January the new congress convened with the House of Representatives, as expected, choosing Mitt Romney as President. The Senate however was hopelessly deadlocked at 50/50, Biden vs. Christie. Biden, still the sitting Vice President, cast the deciding vote in favor of himself. The improbable result had the Republican Romney in the top position with Biden remaining in second place. Biden told the news media that he would do everything possible during his next term to vigorously continue the efforts and policies of Barack Obama.

On January 25, 2013, five days after his inauguration, Romney was assassinated by a bomb while he was giving a speech in New York, City. 75 people were killed in the attack allegedly conducted by Al'Qaeda operatives in relatiation for our actions in the middle east.

On the same day, Joe Biden was sworn in as 46th President of the United States.

The idea of President Biden is scarier than an Obama second term.  But The Grouch does give a very good What if to the idea.

Who Do You Trust About Al Qaeda in Afghanistan...the Obama administration or Bill Roggio?

Okay folks, as most of you know, I link to Bill Roggio's "The Long War Journal" site at least three times every single week - part of the reason I do that is because Bill Roggio has the best information about both the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars as well as the status in Pakistan and the other reason is that Bill Roggio is NEVER wrong. So, today, at The Long War Journal, Bill Roggio reports that al Qaeda still has an extensive network across Afghanistan (you will see the documentation in the full article excerpted below) and on the same exact day of Roggio's report, we heard Joe Biden on television bragging about how much damage that we are doing to al Qaeda and just a month after Leon Panetta claimed that there are less than 50 al Qaeda in all of Afghanistan. So who do you believe? I'll tell you right now, put your money on Bill Roggio.

On May 21 there was a suicide attack in Paktia province in Afghanistan that was initially claimed by the Taliban, but was later traced back to al Qaeda. The facts surrounding that strike and others, as well as information gleaned from US military press releases, paint a picture of al Qaeda that contradicts recent statements by top US intelligence officials who estimated al Qaeda's strength in Afghanistan as being limited to between 50 and 100 operatives.

"I think at most, we're looking at maybe 50 to 100 [al Qaeda operatives in Afghanistan], maybe less," Panetta said on ABC News This Week on June 27. "It's in that vicinity. There's no question that the main location of al-Qaeda is in tribal areas of Pakistan."

While the attack by the four al Qaeda operatives was a failure, as three of the suicide bombers were killed in a firefight with Afghan police and only one policeman was killed, the attack demonstrates that al Qaeda is still actively conducting operations inside Afghanistan.

Within the past eight months, Al Qaeda is known to have carried out several suicide attacks along the border. The most prominent attack was executed by Humam Khalil Muhammed Abu Mulal al Balawi, a Jordanian who was also known as Abu Dujanah al Khurasani, on Dec. 30, 2009.

And here's what Biden said today via the article at CBS News:

"I assure you, we are doing significant damage to al Qaeda in Pakistan as well as in Afghanistan so we're making progress," Biden said. "But the truth of the matter is that there's more to go."

As you can see, both Panetta and Biden are relaying that al Qaeda is pretty much in just Pakistan and granted, there are greater numbers in Pakistan but they are certainly minimizing their presence in Afghanistan. Tell that minimization to the families of the CIA agents blown apart in Khost.

Here's the deal - when President Bush's team would report on the status of the Iraq War, people like Biden were ALL OVER those reports calling them false and misleading and outright lies. So, who is stepping up to call the likes of Biden and Panetta liars at this point? (Crickets).

I'll tell you this - the two greatest marketing jobs of false information in the history of Man are these: Number 1 - Islam is a religion Number 2 - Joe Biden knows what he's talking about when he discusses military strategy and foreign policy. I don't think I need to remind anyone of the fact that if we had listened to Joe Biden, Iraq would now be divided into three separate countries made up of Shia muslims, Sunni muslims and Kurds. That would have worked out beautifully, wouldn't it have? And that came out of Joe Biden's brilliance about the fact that the U.S. military was whooped in Iraq, that we couldn't possibly win. Piss off, Biden - not only are you a confirmed plagiarist, you're a mental midget when it comes to the military.

Analysis: Al Qaeda maintains an extensive network in Afghanistan


On May 21 there was a suicide attack in Paktia province in Afghanistan that was initially claimed by the Taliban, but was later traced back to al Qaeda. The facts surrounding that strike and others, as well as information gleaned from US military press releases, paint a picture of al Qaeda that contradicts recent statements by top US intelligence officials who estimated al Qaeda's strength in Afghanistan as being limited to between 50 and 100 operatives.

"I think at most, we're looking at maybe 50 to 100 [al Qaeda operatives in Afghanistan], maybe less," Panetta said on ABC News This Week on June 27. "It's in that vicinity. There's no question that the main location of al-Qaeda is in tribal areas of Pakistan."

Explicit confirmation of al Qaeda's recent activity in Afghanistan came in a propaganda video released by As Sahab, al Qaeda's media arm, stating that the May 21 suicide assault against an Afghan border police outpost in Urgun in Paktia province was carried out by four al Qaeda operatives.

The video, titled "The Raid of the Two Sheikhs; Abu Hamza al Muhajir and Abu Omar al Baghdadi, may Allah have mercy on them," shows the four al Qaeda operatives giving their martyrdom statements before carrying out the assault. The four al Qaeda operatives are identified as Luqman al Makki, from Mecca in Saudi Arabia; Na'imallah al Swati from the district of Swat in Pakistan; Mus'ab al Turki, from Turkey; and Musa al Afghani, from Afghanistan.

While the attack by the four al Qaeda operatives was a failure, as three of the suicide bombers were killed in a firefight with Afghan police and only one policeman was killed, the attack demonstrates that al Qaeda is still actively conducting operations inside Afghanistan.

Within the past eight months, Al Qaeda is known to have carried out several suicide attacks along the border. The most prominent attack was executed by Humam Khalil Muhammed Abu Mulal al Balawi, a Jordanian who was also known as Abu Dujanah al Khurasani, on Dec. 30, 2009. The Jordanian suicide bomber killed seven CIA agents and security guards and a Jordanian intelligence official at Combat Outpost Chapman in Khost. COP Chapman was used to aid in the covert US Predator campaign that targets al Qaeda and Taliban operatives inside Pakistan's tribal areas.

Other recent attacks that can be directly traced to al Qaeda include an attack in the spring by Abi Zaid al Makki (another Saudi) on a Afghan outpost in Khost, and a failed attack by Abu Dijana San'aani, a Yemeni who served as a bomb maker for al Qaeda, near Kabul on May 9.

Further demonstrating al Qaeda's presence in Afghanistan, over the past year Coalition and Afghan forces have killed numerous al Qaeda operatives in Afghanistan, as well as several other commanders who fought in Afghanistan but were based in Pakistan.

On May 25, Coalition and Afghan forces killed a "key al Qaeda leader" during a clash in the eastern province of Paktia. On Jan. 19, the Turkistan Islamic Party admitted that 15 of its members, including 13 Uighurs and two Turks, were killed during a Predator airstrike in Badghis province in northwestern Afghanistan. The group, which is closely allied to al Qaeda (Abdul Haq al Turkistani, the leader of the Turkistan Islamic Party, sits on al Qaeda's top shura), issued a statement confirming their deaths. And on Oct. 6, 2009, three al Qaeda embedded military trainers (these are al Qaeda operatives sent to Taliban units to impart tactics and skills) were killed in Herat.

As recently as June 27, in a single incident a total of 15 al Qaeda operatives, "including eight Arabs, five Pakistanis and two Afghans," were killed after an IED detonated prematurely in a compound in Paktika province in eastern Afghanistan.

In an attempt to disrupt al Qaeda's operations in Afghanistan, the US has also utilized targeted Predator strikes in Pakistan's bordering tribal areas to kill several top al Qaeda military leaders who fight in Afghanistan. Mustafa Abu Yazid, al Qaeda's top leader for Afghanistan, was killed in a strike in North Waziristan on May 21. Al Qaeda quickly replaced Yazid by naming Sheikh Fateh al Masri as the new commander af Afghanistan.

More recently, on June 10, two Arab al Qaeda military commanders and a Turkish foreign fighter were killed in North Waziristan. Sheikh Ihsanullah was an "Arab al Qaeda military commander"; Ibrahim was the commander of the Fursan-i-Mohammed Group. On June 19, an al Qaeda commander named Abu Ahmed and 11 members of the Islamic Jihad Union were killed in North Waziristan.

Al Qaeda's extensive reach in Afghanistan is documented in the body of press releases issued in recent years by the International Security Assistance Force. Looking at press releases dating back to March 2007, The Long War Journal has been able to detect the presence of al Qaeda and affiliated groups such as the Islamic Jihad Union in 45 different districts in 15 of Afghanistan's 34 provinces.

Al Qaeda operates in conjunction with the Taliban, the Haqqani Network, and the Hizb-i-Islami Guldbuddin network throughout Afghanistan. Al Qaeda operatives often serve as embedded military trainers for Taliban field units and impart tactics and bomb-making skills to these forces. Al Qaeda often supports the Taliban by funding operations and providing weapons and other aid, according to classified military memos released by Wikileaks.

This picture is vastly different from the one painted by top Obama administration intelligence officials including CIA Director Leon Panetta and Nation Counterterrorism Center Director Michal Leiter.

Bye-bye Vice President Biden?

Joe Biden has been a liability to the Obama Administration Regime since he was put on the ticket in 2008.  It seems the Vice President has Foot-in-Mouth Disease.  He opens his mouth and inserts his foot.  He has become an embarrassment and a political liability to this regime. Therefore he must go!

Ms. Peek predicts that Obama will cut loose Joe Biden in favor of Hillary Clinton.

Here’s a prediction: the Obama administration will bounce Joe Biden off the 2012 ticket, and invite Hillary Clinton to run in his stead.

The move will aim to bolster Obama’s standing and provide some excitement among core Democrats – something that Biden fails to provide. Hillary will agree, because just four years later she will be superbly positioned to run for president – ever the rainbow on her personal horizon.

At present, her polls are high, with 58% of voters viewing her at least somewhat favorably.

Wistful Dems who wonder these days what could have been will tout her hard work and pragmatic diplomacy as she chases one impossible Obama pipe dream after another to all corners of the globe.

Certain wishful Dems are hoping she will challenge Obama in a primary. I don’t think so. As Ted Kennedy found when he tried to pick off Jimmy Carter in 1980, even an unpopular incumbent is still an incumbent.

If the White House political team brings Clinton on board over the next year, they can remove whatever threat exists from that quarter. Meanwhile, Hillary can bide her time and husband her resources, eventually running against Obama’s legacy.

She will have better answers on health care, a subject she has studiously avoided discussing, and could adopt her husband’s centrist approach to trade and taxes to win over independents.

Up until President Eisenhower, the position of Vice President on a political ticket was easily changed.  FDR had 3 different VPs (John Nance Garner, Henry A. Wallace, and Harry S. Truman.).  So it isn't out of the question or against historical precedent.


Joe Biden was originally chosen for his experience in foreign affairs.  A skill it seems, judging from the last 2 years of this regime, neither Joe Biden or Barack Hussein Obama have or ever has aquired.

Nor has Hillary Clinton showed her great skill in foreign policy and foreign affairs in her tenure as Secretary of State.

In fact the trio remind on of the bumbling antics of the 3 Stooges.  It would be funny, but the price to our security is too high for such jokes or jokers.

I have always wondered why Joe Biden was brought onto the ticket.  He brought no electoral votes, no region of the nation to swing towards Obama, he is a bumbler, a fool at times, yet he and not Hillary was chosen to be the VP.  Could it be that the idea of President Biden is so horrible to the nation that the Congress will allow Obama to do anything to prevent that from happening?  Does Joe Biden make Obama safe from impeachment?  If so, why the change of heart?

This is all speculation and will not matter if Obama's polls continue to drop.  Who is going to vote for a President with a 20% or less approval rating?  Pretty much no one.  So regardless of who is on the ticket in 2012, as things look right now, Obama is a one-term President and should be considered a lame duck.

Al Qaeda in Iraq's Two Top Leaders Killed - al Masri and al Baghdadi

Not exactly breaking news as it came out early today but it's hugely significant - the #1 and #2 leaders of al Qaeda in Iraq were killed this past weekend in a joint raid by U.S. troops and Iraqi army/security forces. Yup. The two top dogs are shuffling along down a dark alley in Hell wondering if those rotting hyena corpses are the virgins they were promised.

Iraq's Prime Minister and the US military confirmed that al Qaeda in Iraq's top two leaders have been killed during a raid in a remote region in the western province of Anbar.

"Abu Ayyub al Masri, also known as Abu Hamza al Muhajir, Abu Omar al Baghdadi and a number of al Qaeda leaders in Iraq were killed during a security operation in al Thar Thar region in Anbar," Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki told reporters at a press conference in Baghdad, according to Voices of Iraq.

US Forces Iraq, the US military command in Baghdad, confirmed the report in a press release.

"A series of Iraqi led joint operations conducted over the last week resulted in the Iraqi Forces with US support executing a nighttime raid on the AQI [al Qaeda in Iraq] leaders’ safehouse," the press release stated. "The joint security team identified both AQI members, and the terrorists were killed after engaging the security team. Additionally, Masri’s assistant along with the son of al-Baghdadi who were also involved in terrorist activities were killed."

Obviously this is terrific news and is a unbelievable blow to any al Qaeda in Iraq organization that was left but I do want to address a statement from Vice President Joe Biden today. Biden said this (from ABC News):

Biden told reporters that their deaths were "devastating blows to al Qaeda-Iraq. But equally important, in my view, is this action demonstrates the improved security, strength and capacity of Iraqi security forces."
He emphasized that the operation was Iraqi led and "was based on intelligence the Iraqi security forces themselves developed following their capture of a senior AQI leader last month.""

Okay, I'm not going to fault Biden for celebrating these two deaths - hell no, I'm glad he actually acknowledged the importance of it (course the President is probably mourning the deaths). But at the same time, I don't trust Joe Biden as far as I can toss him and for him to over glorify the role of the Iraqis in this, makes me suspicious. This raid happened out in the hinterlands - the area of Iraq still under American control and I don't care if we need to prop up the Iraqis some here and there - I firmly believe this was an operation conducted mainly by U.S. troops. I don't doubt that the intel came from some Iraqi "investigations" as I see the Iraqis probably using torture on al Qaeda prisoners, but I think the planning and execution was all "Made in the USA."

Just my gut feel.

US and Iraqi forces kill Al Masri and Baghdadi, al Qaeda in Iraq's top two leaders

During the operation, one US soldier was killed in a helicopter crash, and 16 al Qaeda associates were detained.
The two top leaders of al Qaeda in Iraq were killed in the Thar Thar region, an area that has served as an al Qaeda haven in the past. Al Qaeda has operated training camps and safe havens in the desert region, which is strategically located near Baghdad, Samarra, Balad, Ramadi, and Fallujah.
Al Masri was hand picked by Ayman al Zawahiri to take control of al Qaeda in Iraq after its founder, Abu Musab al Zarqawi, was killed in a US airstrike in Baqubah in June 2006. Al Masri was one of Zawahiri's top aides and severed as a master bomb maker and terror coordinator under Zarqawi.
Al Masri was a member of Egyptian Islamic Jihad, the group that folded into al Qaeda under Zawahiri’s leadership. Egyptian Islamic Jihad is a core element of al Qaeda and includes many former members of the Egyptian military.
Al Masri was officially listed as the minister of defense for the Islamic State of Iraq, according to a press release put out by the terror group in April 2007. But over the summer of 2007, it became known the Islamic State of Iraq was the invention of al Masri.

Baghdadi is the leader of the Islamic State of Iraq, and there has been much controversy over his identity over the years. In 2007 the US military said Baghdadi was a fictitious leader created by al Masri, the leader of al Qaeda in Iraq. The Islamic State of Iraq was created in an attempt to put an Iraqi face on al Qaeda’s foreign-led movement and unite the disparate Sunni Islamist and insurgent groups.

Baghdadi was played by an Iraqi actor named Abu Abdullah al Naima, the military stated. This was confirmed after the capture and interrogation of Khalid al Mashadani, then al Qaeda's media emir. Al Qaeda’s appointment of an anonymous caliph, or leader, caused rifts in the Sunni insurgency, and along with al Qaeda’s brutal tactics, turned many tribes and insurgent groups away from the terror organization.

The US military's claim that Baghdadi was a fictitious character was challenged in May of 2008 after Haditha's police chief identified Baghdadi as Hamed Dawood Mohammed Khalil al Zawi, a former officer who was "dismissed from the army because of his extremism."

The US military believes that al Qaeda quickly backfilled the position of Baghdadi after the Naima charade was disclosed last year. The move was made to stem any embarrassment in having al Qaeda’s appointed caliph of Iraq being played by an actor.

The deaths of al Masri and Baghdadi are a major blow to al Qaeda in Iraq, as the terror group has suffered major losses in its leadership network over the past four months. Since January, the US has picked apart the top leaders of al Qaeda's northern network. Among those killed or captured are the last two emirs, or leaders, of the northern Iraq network, the last two emirs of Mosul, the top facilitator operating in the Iraq-Syria border areas, and other senior members of the network [see LWJ report, "Iraqi forces capture two senior al Qaeda leaders in Mosul," for the full list].

General Ray Odierno, the commander of US Forces Iraq, said the killing of al Masri and Baghdadi "is potentially the most significant blow to al Qaada in Iraq since the beginning of the insurgency."

"The Government of Iraq intelligence services and security forces supported by US intelligence and special operations forces have over the last several months continued to degrade AQI," Odierno said in the press release. "There is still work to do but this is a significant step forward in ridding Iraq of terrorists."

Joe Biden Insists That The Obama Administration Will See That Blackwater Dismissal Is Overturned, It's Important That Americans Are Convicted

The Obama administration's year long vendetta against America continues as Vice President Joe Biden announced that the Obama administration will see to it that a court's dismissal of manslaughter charges against Blackwater agents in Iraq will be overturned - Biden has told the Iraqi government that he will bow to them and make sure that once again, Americans will be villified on the world stage.

I find it interesting that the American people don't see Joe Biden for months...we don't hear a peep from the clown and then all of a sudden he emerges and that is just in time for him to open his mouth and confirm that his role is to see that America is villified in front of the whole world.

Good work, Sheriff Joe (spit)....perhaps you can go back into hiding for three months again and reemerge in time to testify at the KSM trials about how America tortured KSM in Gitmo.

Biden: US to appeal dismissal of Blackwater case


BAGHDAD (AP) - The U.S. will appeal a court decision dismissing manslaughter charges against five Blackwater Worldwide security contractors involved in a deadly 2007 Baghdad shooting, U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said Saturday.
Biden's announcement after a meeting with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani shows just how diplomatically sensitive the incident remains nearly three years later.

Blackwater security contractors were guarding U.S. diplomats when the guards opened fire in a crowded Baghdad intersection. Seventeen people were killed, including women and children, in a shooting that inflamed anti-American sentiment in Iraqi.

Biden expressed his "personal regret" for the shooting and said the Obama administration was disappointed by the dismissal. "A dismissal is not an acquittal," he said.

The U.S. rebuffed Iraqi demands that the U.S. contractors face trial in Iraqi courts. After a lengthy investigation, U.S. prosecutors charged five of the contractors with manslaughter and took a guilty plea from a sixth.

But the case fell apart in December after a judge found that the Justice Department mishandled evidence and violated the guards' constitutional rights. Prosecutors now face difficult odds getting an appeals court to reinstate the case.

The dismissal outraged many Iraqis, who said it showed the Americans considered themselves above the law. The Iraqi government began collecting signatures for a class-action lawsuit from victims who were wounded or lost relatives.

Messages seeking comment from lawyers for the guards were not immediately returned Saturday.

Blackwater has said the guards were innocent, contending there were ambushed by insurgents. Prosecutors said the shooting was unprovoked.

Court documents paint a murky picture of a case rife with conflicting evidence. Some witnesses say the Blackwater convoy was under fire; others say it wasn't. Some said the entire convoy fired into the intersection; others said only a few men opened fire.

Even the government's key witnesses, three members of the Blackwater convoy, at times seemed to undercut the government's case.

Since the shooting, Blackwater has renamed itself Xe Services and overhauled its management. Iraq has pulled the company's license to operate in the country.

British Top General Supports McChrystal's Call For More Troops In Afghanistan

Support for Gen. McChrystal's now revealed plan for a "troop surge" in Afghanistan is starting to flow in from overseas as Britain's commanding general in Afghanistan, General Dutton, has agreed that the influx of more troops is necessary for victory and stability. It seems that just about everyone with a military mind has come behind this proposed new approach to the War in Afghanistan...except for Barack Hussein Obama and Joe "I'dCarveUpIraqInto3Countries" Biden.

General Dutton told The Times that victory was a matter of “straightforward force ratios”. “If you want to achieve long-term stability, and therefore a lack of terrorism potential in an area, you need to be doing more than simply patrolling the skies,” he said.

See that? That is a direct slam at Vice President Biden and his ludicrous idea that America and NATO can simply keep troops at current levels or reduce them and just "surgically" attack the Taliban with air strikes and UAV predator drones.

You know, it's high time that someone just comes out and dispels this notion that Joe Biden knows his ass from a hole in the ground. The Left in America has been effective in portraying Joe Biden as an "expert" in the theaters of the Iraq War and the War in Afghanistan and the truth is, he's a doofus. Biden proved it with his ridiculous plan for Iraq and now he's dispelling any doubt with his "plan" for Afghanistan.

And while I'm at it, let's talk about our Commander-in-chief. Barack Hussein Obama (mmm, mmm, mmm) has been derelict in his duties in his main role as President of the United States. This is a man who has two major wars going on that involve a large number of American troops and he's completely out to lunch on both. This is a man, Barack Hussein Obama, who is so enthralled with maintaining his narcissistically inflated image of himself in America and the world that he has placed the War in Afghanistan so far down on his priority list, our fighting men and women have suffered on the battlefield. We are talking about a President of the United States that has enabled the Iranians with as much time as they have needed to complete their nuclear weapons programs and at the same time, has enabled the Taliban in Afghanistan all of the time they have needed to not only regroup but to add to their forces.

This man is no Commander-in-chief....this is a man who has never made a vital decision in his life other than to run away from the pressures and responsibility of living in mainstream America to the welcome laziness of a community organizer. This is a man who now, when confronted with the most crucial decision of his Presidency, has decided he needs "about a month to make a decision."

British general supports request for 40,000 new troops in Afghanistan

Britain’s top general in Afghanistan backed calls for more troops, insisting it would be impossible to deny al-Qaeda their terrorist safe havens by “simply patrolling from the skies”. In an exclusive interview with The Times, Lieutenant-General Jim Dutton, said yesterday that he supported a formal request made by his boss, General Stanley McChrystal, the US commander, for up to 40,000 new troops.
On Friday General McChrystal submitted a formal request to Nato and the Pentagon for a surge in troop numbers to help to tame a growing insurgency.
General Dutton, the deputy commander of Nato’s International Security Assistance Force, insisted that “long-term stability” in Afghanistan was the only way to stop international terrorists using the country as a launch pad for attacks in Europe and the US.
His comments came as continuing violence across the country yesterday claimed the lives of six Nato troops, including a British casualty. The soldier, from the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Welsh Regiment, was hit by a roadside bomb in northern Helmand.

The growing toll exacted by the campaign has undermined public support, prompting some US officials to suggest scaling back the foreign presence and relying instead on unmanned drones to bomb terrorist training centres as and when they appear.
A leaked report by General McChrystal warned that without more troops the mission risks failure.
General Dutton told The Times that victory was a matter of “straightforward force ratios”. “If you want to achieve long-term stability, and therefore a lack of terrorism potential in an area, you need to be doing more than simply patrolling the skies,” he said.
“The ultimate answer to this problem is a stable democratic state of Afghanistan in which their own forces are capable of maintaining the rule of law and security.”
Earlier this year President Obama ordered 21,000 extra troops to Afghanistan this year, bringing the total foreign presence to more than 100,000 for the first time since the Soviet occupation in the 1980s.
General Dutton said the ideal ratio of civilians to security forces, according to the most up-to-date counterinsurgency doctrine, was 50:1. In Afghanistan that would mean 560,000 Afghan and international soldiers for an estimated population of 28 million. There are now 100,000 foreign troops and 174,000 Afghan security forces.
“It’s not 20 troops per thousand people throughout the country, but for a period of time [in certain parts of the country] it might need even more than that,” General Dutton said.
He insisted that Britain and Nato were prepared to send more soldiers. “There’s no sense here that we are going to fail because the analysis has been rejected,” he said. “Far from it. Nato’s Secretary-General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, has fully supported it. Several countries have supported it. I know my own has.”
He said that General McChrystal came away from briefing Nato’s defence chiefs last week “hugely enthused” by their support. Nonetheless, critics of the campaign have demanded a timeline for withdrawal. Robert Gates, the US Defence Secretary, warned yesterday that this would be disastrous. “The reality is, failure in Afghanistan would be a huge setback for the United States,” he said.
“[The] Taleban and al-Qaeda, as far as they’re concerned, defeated one superpower. For them to be seen to defeat a second, I think, would have catastrophic consequences in terms of energizing the extremist movement.”
Many governments are reluctant to send more troops while Afghanistan’s presidential election results last month remain disputed. General Dutton said that he was confident Afghan authorities would resolve the uncertainty, but he warned that if they fail, it will undermine Nato’s mandate.
European observers said that as many as 1.5 million votes, including more than a million in support of President Karzai, may have been fraudulent. A recount of some is due to start this week as the Electoral Complaints Commission wades through more than 2,700 allegations of fraud, ballot box stuffing and police intimidation.
“The basis of our mandate is to support the legally elected government,” General Dutton said. “If you haven’t got one, you either have to change the mandate, or you rethink the whole endeavour.”
He was confident, however, that the British public would stomach more casualties as long has he could answer yes to two key questions: “Are we right?” and “Can we win?”.
“We can only be right if we are supporting a legally elected government,” he said. “Can we win? Yes. General McChrystal has a plan that will succeed. This project is absolutely doable.”

Iranians Say That If Israel Attacks Them, It's All America's Fault!

Today, "Sheriff Joe" Biden's remarks about the U.S. not stopping an Israeli attack on Iran came home to roost and the Iranians took advantage to offer up some more threats. But I got such a kick out of it - I can almost picture it now as a squadron of Israeli bombers and fighter jets are leaving Iranian airspace and in their wake is the smoldering remains of Iran's nuclear facilities and all we can hear are a bunch of mullahs on the ground screaming "Death to America! America is to blame!" hahaha.

How many of you ever thought you'd see the day that a U.S. Vice President would say that Israel has the right to defend her people and then he would be CONDEMNED for making a "mistake" ? It's insane. Iran attacks Biden's Israel remarks


Iran will hold the US responsible for any Israeli attack against the country, Ali Larijani, the speaker of Iran's parliament, has said.
His remarks came after Joe Biden, the US vice-president, said that Washington would not dictate the way Israel deals with Tehran's nuclear ambitions.
"We will consider the Americans responsible in any adventure launched by the Zionist entity," Larijani said in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Monday during an official visit.
"No politician or person in the world can imagine that the Zionist entity can lead an operation without getting the green light from the United States."
Larijani said the Islamic republic's response to an attack would be "decisive and painful".
Israel's interest
Biden said in an interview on Sunday that the US would not stand in the way of Israel in its dealings with Iran's nuclear ambitions.
"Israel can determine for itself - it's a sovereign nation - what's in their interest and what they decide to do relative to Iran and anyone else," he told ABC television.
"Whether we agree or not. They're entitled to do that ... We cannot dictate to another sovereign nation what they can and cannot do when they make a determination, if they make a determination, that they're existentially threatened."
Larijani said Biden's comments was "political manoeuvre. We have heard a lot of these words in the past".
"Biden, by saying that they (the United States) can't prevent such an operation, has taken the wrong route and revealed his card".
Asked about US calls for dialogue, Larijani said: "We want to work seriously. ... But on one side they tell us 'we want to resolve the problems and negotiate', on another we hear what Mr Biden says."
No 'green light'
Following the controversy triggered by Biden's interview, the US administration denied that it was giving Israel any green light to attack Iran or that it was reconsidering plans to engage diplomatically with Tehran.
"I certainly would not want to give a green light to any kind of military action," Ian Kelly, the US state department spokesman, said late on Monday.
But he echoed Biden's point that Washington considered Israel a "sovereign country" with a right to make its own military decisions.
"We're not going to dictate its actions," Kelly said.
"We're also committed to Israel's security. And we share Israel's deep concerns about Iran's nuclear programme."
Kelly brushed aside the idea that Biden was signalling a move by the Obama administration to drop its policy of diplomatic engagement with Iran, saying: "I wouldn't read into it any more than what you see."

Yeah right, Joe, "everyone" got it wrong, huh? Well, I can list about 250 Conservative bloggers, politicians and economists who predicted JUST WHAT THE RESULTS have been. Vice President Joe Biden said Sunday that "everyone guessed wrong" on the impact of the economic stimulus, but he defended the administration's spending designed to combat rising joblessness.
Biden said inaccuracies in unemployment predictions shouldn't undercut the White House's support of the $787 billion economic revival plan that has not met the expectations of President Obama's team. Instead, the vice president urged skeptics to look at teachers who kept their classroom assignments and police officers who kept their beats because of financial assistance from Washington.

No one realized how bad the economy was. The projections, in fact, turned out to be worse. But we took the mainstream model as to what we thought—and everyone else thought—the unemployment rate would be," Biden said.

Okay, so let me get this right - the economy was so bad, such a "crisis" that Barack Obama used that word continually for weeks...that we were in a crisis not known like this since the Great Depression and yet now, when the Stimulus Bill is wallowing in its own pork fat, Biden comes out with the Administration's line that they didn't realize how bad the economy was? Gimme a break.

And so now, we are looking at unemployment rates of 1.5% higher than the crystal ball using Obama administration had predicted, we have a level of confidence at an all time low across the country and what does the Obama administration decide to do to quell the worries of the American people? Let's see:

The White House has tapped Biden as its chief spokesman on that economic stimulus plan, sending him across the country to drum up support for a plan that has yet to make the impact it promised. On Thursday and Friday, Biden visited Pennsylvania, Kansas and Michigan to highlight projects the stimulus has funded.

Can you believe this? Mr. Gaffe, clearly one of the dumbest politicians of modern times who just happens to occupy the office of the Vice President, is slated to carry the message of "hope?" If it wasn't so sad, I'd be laughing my ass off.

At the same time, we have to be smart enough to understand just why Joe Biden was selected as V.P. - for times like this when someone has to carry the water of failed policy...when someone from the Obama administration has to go confront the American people and inform them that Socialism in America, Obama-style is failing and corrupting the system, good old Joe is the man for the job. I give him about six months before the guy is worn down like a set of old tires on a rocky mountainous road.

"The bottom line is that jobs are being created that would not have been there before," Biden said.
But they are not coming at the pace first estimated.
Just 10 days before taking office, Obama's top economic advisers released a report predicting unemployment would remain at 8 percent of below through this year if an economic stimulus plan won congressional approval.
Yet the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that unemployment in May rose to 9.4 percent.
Biden said the White House is keenly aware of the gap between the rhetoric used to sell fast passage of the legislation and the reality that has 14.5 million people unemployed.
"No one realized how bad the economy was. The projections, in fact, turned out to be worse. But we took the mainstream model as to what we thought—and everyone else thought—the unemployment rate would be," Biden said.
Those projects came from a report co-written by Biden's chief economist, Jared Bernstein. Last week, Bernstein briefed reporters on the stimulus spending and insisted the report was in line with others' research, but not aligned with reality.
"At the time our forecast seemed reasonable. Now, looking back, it was clearly too optimistic," he told reporters last Monday.

"Everyone guessed wrong at the time the estimate was made about what the state of the economy was at the moment this was passed," Biden said.
Biden appeared Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press" from his hometown of Wilmington, Del.

Where VP Cheney stood strong against the enemies of America and his position was 100% crystal clear, VP Biden is now being led down a road of "reconciliation" by his dear leader....the only thing missing is Biden putting on a dress and high heels.

"But the United States and Russia can disagree and still work together where our interests coincide and they coincide in many places."
In the audience as Biden spoke were the leaders of Germany and France as well as the deputy prime minister of Russia -- all countries that clashed with former President George W. Bush over his invasion of Iraq six years ago.
At this same conference in 2003, German foreign minister Joschka Fischer stared down Pentagon chief Donald Rumsfeld, telling him he was "not convinced" by the U.S. case for war.
LESS TENSE
The atmosphere this year has been far less tense.
European countries broadly welcomed Obama's election and Biden's presence at a conference normally attended by the U.S. defense secretary sent an important signal to Europe that the Obama administration was keen to rebuild relations.
"We will engage. We will listen. We will consult. America needs the world, just as I believe the world needs America," Biden said.
In a jibe at the policies of Bush, he vowed to end torture, close the Guantanamo military prison in Cuba and advance democracy "not through its imposition by force from the outside, but by working with moderates" in foreign governments.

Sen. Joe Biden: Foreign Policy Guru or Idiot?

Barack Hussein Obama has chosen Joe Biden. President Bush's solution to winning the Iraq War was to follow General Petraeus' "Surge" strategy and that has led to the U.S. and coalition and Iraqi forces defeat of al Qaeda in Iraq and bringing the country close to peace. Obama, on the other hand, has always called for surrender in Iraq - he would have pulled the troops out just as they were on the verge of victory and that action would have cost millions of Iraqis their lives.

Now, where did Joe Biden fall into this Iraq debate? The MSM is heralding Joe Biden as a foreign policy guru, an "expert." What was Biden's great solution to the Iraq conflict?

Well, here is what Joe Biden offered up (in May of 2006) from his position as guru of foreign policy:

Iraq should be divided into three largely autonomous regions -- Kurd, Sunni Arab and Shiite Arab -- with a weaker central government in Baghdad, Sen. Joseph Biden said on Monday.

He said the division of Iraq would follow the example of Bosnia a decade ago when that war-torn country was partitioned into ethnic federations under the U.S.-brokered Dayton Accords.

As part of the plan, the United States should withdraw most of its troops from Iraq by 2008, except for a small force to combat terrorism, Biden said.Under Biden's proposal, the Kurdish, Sunni and Shiite regions would each be responsible for their own domestic laws, administration and internal security. The central government would control border defense, foreign affairs and oil revenues.

This is the man of solutions that Barack Obama has chosen? So, as an American voter, I have a Democratic ticket that offers a Presidential candidate that would have retreated and his Vice Presidential candidate that would have carved the country up into threes - further creating a division in a land always marked by divisive strife.

I almost don't know where to begin on the foreign policy sham from Biden but let me list a few observations:

1. Biden stated that the weak central government of Iraq would be responsibile for "border defense." Okay, his plan of dividing the country up was due to the Shia, Sunni and Kurd factions not getting along so WHO is going to be in the military forces that will guard the border with Turkey, Syria or Iran? Would those be a mixed group of soldiers, who Biden has concluded can't get along? How effective a defensive force would that be? Who would command the national defense forces? A Sunni? A Shia? A Kurd?

2. al Qaeda. With Iraq divided into three separate entities under a Biden plan, al Qaeda could have targeted the Shia "country." Let's say that al Qaeda, in an attempt to draw the Sunni section of Iraq into a battle, bombed a Sunni mosque in the Sunni territory using Shia operatives in the Shia territory...and that wouldn't cause a military conflict between the two areas?

3. Oil Fields. There were numerous oil fields in the northern section of Iraq which were claimed both by Sunnis and Kurds. Would Biden have drawn a line right through the middle of those? Would Biden have had half the oil pipeline under Kurd control and half under Sunni control?

4. Islamic observation. Would Joe Biden have worked up a magic "visa" for Shias to travel through Sunni country during islamic holiday observations? Would a Shia living in the nothern area of the Kurd section, be allowed to leave for a trek to Najaf?

5. Declaration of war. If the weak central government was equally split between the three newly created territories, who would have the deciding vote on a potential declaration of war on say, Iran? If the Shia territory objected to a war on Iran supported by the Sunnis and Kurds, would the Shia territory then declare war on the Sunnis and Kurds?

Okay, I'll stop. The reason for this exercise was to point out that THINKING and ANALYSIS is not Joe Biden's strongpoint. He is a loose cannon. His lips move before his mind engages. He sits at the head of the prestigious Senate Foreign Relations Committee not because he is a guru but because he's been there a long time and he is talking the talk.

I won't even get into Biden's call for U.S. military intervention in Darfur last year where not a single expert or colleague joined him in that call.
