Morsi Supporters Vow Jihad and to Burn Christians


Pro-Morsi demonstrators on video saying they will carry out suicide bombing attacks against anti-Morsi Muslims and set Christians on fire.

The July 3 overthrow of Egyptian President Morsi by the military, spurred into action by mind-bogglingly large protests demanding that it step in, is being met with calls to jihad. Islamists at a pro-Morsi rally on July 4 were videotaped pledging to kill their political opponents and to set Christians “on fire.”

The first speaker in the news clip states that the pro-Morsi crowd will die fighting. He shouts, “I want to say to [Defense Minister] al-Sisi: Beware! Know that you have created a new Taliban and a new Al-Qaeda in Egypt.”

He explicitly states that he and his colleagues will become suicide bombers and that they’ll target all of their enemies. He tells al-Sisi that he “wrote the death sentence of all the members of Tamarod [the opposition]” and “of anyone who opposed President Morsi and opposed the legitimacy of the ballot box.”

The next speaker is a Salafist woman dressed in full niqab. She states that she is not a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, but pledges to fight on behalf of her fellow Islamists. She hatefully shouts, “I tell the Christians one word: You live by our side. We will set you on fire! We will set you on fire!”

The Egyptian military has placed President Morsi and Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide al-Badie under house arrest. About 200 members of the Brotherhood have warrants out for their arrest. If they are indeed arrested, then the situation will quickly escalate. Already, it’s been reported that 250 Egyptians have been injured in clashes in three provinces.

It has been reported that the Muslim Brotherhood is already considering launching a new terrorist group and that seven Hamas terrorists were arrested in Cairo with car bombs. Hamas is the Palestinian wing of the Muslim Brotherhood. Last year, the Clarion Project brought attention to an unnoticed video showing the Hamas leadership publicly pledging allegiance to the Muslim Brotherhood and its jihad.

The Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamists in the region have seen their popularity collapse, but they are still a major force. If the Muslim Brotherhood formally declares jihad, it will be joined by Al-Qaeda, Hamas, foreign Brotherhood branches and hardline Salafists.

The most recent Zogby poll of Egyptian public opinion, taken between April 4 and May 12, found that 29% of Egyptians had confidence in President Morsi. The Muslim Brotherhood’s political wing, the Freedom and Justice Party, had the confidence of 26% of respondents. These numbers have certainly declined since the poll was finished, but this still equals millions of people.

The Salafists, who are even more radical than the Muslim Brotherhood, will see their numbers swell. Some supporters of the Brotherhood will feel the organization's strategy of implementing sharia gradually is to blame for the Islamists' failure, and they will join the violent Salafists. The Zogby poll found that 29% of Egyptians have confidence in the Salafist Al-Nour Party. In the parliamentary elections, the Salafists won about one-fourth of the vote.

The Muslim Brotherhood is calling for a "Friday of Rejection" with massive protests. Bloodshed is inevitable. The question is whether the Muslim Brotherhood will officially declare a jihad and if not, how many Islamists will take up arms on their own accord.

The Salafists Versus the Arab Spring Islamists

Just last Friday I put up a post on how the Salafists in Egypt are all up in arms against the Muslim Brotherhood in regards to the Brotherhood's warming up to Shia Iran...and that isn't the first clash that has happened in Egypt between the two Islamic forces there...and now, we are seeing this ideological clash spilling over to Gaza and the West Bank as the Salafists go toe to toe with Hamas.

Salafi jihadist supporters protest Hamas' arrest campaign


Supporters of Salafi jihadists in the Gaza Strip are increasing their protests against Hamas both online and in public as some Salafi jihadists begin hunger strikes to protest their imprisonment by Hamas.

On April 5, a new Facebook page opened for relatives of Salafi jihadists currently imprisoned by Hamas. As of the evening of April 6, the page had only 285 "likes," but its statements have been promoted on the Ibn Taymiyyah Media Center Facebook page, which has existed since August 26, 2012, and on jihadist forums.

The Ibn Taymiyyah Media Center, according to the SITE Intelligence Group, is "the official source for releases from the Mujahideen Shura Council (MSC) in the Environs of Jerusalem," an al Qaeda-linked group.

On April 5, the new Facebook page released a statement announcing that relatives and supporters of imprisoned Salafi jihadists in Gaza were planning to organize a demonstration on April 6 "to protest the practices of [Hamas] against our righteous sons who are subjected to torture, humiliation and abuse."

On April 6, the protest took place in Rafah; however, according to Agence France Presse, only about 30 people attended before Hamas forces dispersed the demonstration. While AFP said the rally was dispersed without incident, the group released a statement claiming that a couple of the protesters were detained and a journalist was attacked.

In a separate statement, which was shared by the Ibn Taymiyyah Media Center, the group accused Hamas of imprisoning Salafi jihadists for "many months without any charge or trial." The statement further called on Hamas to immediately "release our sons who suffer injustice and harassment," because they are Salafists.

In addition, it called on Hamas to stop its smear campaigns, arrests, and general persecution of Salafists in the Gaza Strip. The group also accused Palestinian factions and organizations of being "complicit" in Hamas' persecution of Salafi jihadists, due to their "shameful silence."

The statement concluded by saying that the group plans to take further action and will not cease its campaign until Hamas releases imprisoned Salafi jihadists.

In addition to these statements, Sheikh Hossam al Jazzar of the Ibn Baz Islamic Charity condemned Hamas' recent arrests of Salafi jihadists. In a statement published on his Facebook page on April 5, al Jazzar said that the arrests "only serve the interests of the Jews." Al Jazzar himself was summoned for questioning by Hamas in September 2012. And on April 6, Sheikh Nael Mosran similarly called on Hamas "to stop the arbitrary arrests of Salafi youth," in a statement published on his Facebook page.

Salafi jihadists in the Gaza Strip have long complained about Hamas' targeting of their members. In February, Abdullah Jihad al Ashqar (a.k.a. Abu al-Muhtasib al Maqdisi), an official in the MSC, slammed the arrests of Salafi jihadists in the Gaza Strip by Hamas. According to al Ashqar, after Abu al Walid al Maqdisi and Ashraf al Sabah, leaders of the MSC, were killed in an air strike by the Israeli Air Force in October 2012, Hamas eased up its pressure on Salafi jihadists in the Gaza Strip.

In fact, in early December, Hamas reportedly released Abu Hafs al Maqdisi, the leader of a Salafi jihadist group known as Jaish al Ummah (Army of the Nation). But after a few months, "the policy of detaining returned, as did pursuing, kidnapping, and storming homes, and then capturing and torturing in the prisons of the so-called domestic security agency," al Ashqar contended.

Last September, Hamas reportedly arrested over 20 Salafi jihadists in the Gaza Strip. In response, Abu Abdul Muhajir, a leading Salafi jihadist in Gaza, denounced Hamas for its "unjustified" campaign against Salafi jihadists. A couple months later, Sheikh Anas Abdul Rahman, an official in the MSC, similarly complained that "there is no relationship between the Salafi Jihadis and Hamas and its government, except for through security prosecutions and within prisons."

More recently, the MSC called on "the reasonable people in the Hamas Movement to pressure their government security agencies to release the Salafist Jihadist mujahideen who are held unjustly in their prisons."

Hamas recent campaign against Salafi jihadists

Over the past couple weeks, Hamas has carried out a number of arrests of Salafi jihadists, according to jihadist communiqués. In late March, Hamas forces reportedly arrested two Salafi jihadists in Zawaida, raided the home of a member of the Popular Resistance Committees, and kidnapped a Salafi jihadist in Rafah. Press reports suggest that the two jihadists in Zawaida were connected to the Mujahideen Shura Council in the Environs of Jerusalem (MSC), which took credit for a rocket attack on Israel on March 21.

On March 30, the Ibn Taymiyyah Media Center warned on its Facebook page that preparations were being made by Hamas to launch a mass campaign of arrests against Salafi jihadists in the Gaza Strip.

In the past week, the campaign appears to have intensified in response to rocket attacks by the MSC against Israel. According to the MSC, the rocket fire was in response to the recent death of Maisara Abu Hamdiyeh, a Hamas operative. Hamdiyeh, whom Hamas praised for supplying "the Mujahideen with weapons and explosives," died of esophageal cancer at an Israeli hospital on April 2.

On April 2, the MSC claimed to have fired five rockets from Gaza toward Israel. On the same day, Hamas forces reportedly arrested a Salafi jihadist near Rafah.

The following day, the MSC said it had fired six additional rockets toward Israeli territory. Following the rocket attacks, a Salafi jihadist was reportedly detained by Hamas forces near Khan Yunis. The statement from the Ibn Taymiyyah Media Center, which announced the arrest, accused Hamas of carrying out an "extensive campaign" against Salafi jihadists in Gaza.

Despite these allegations, Hamas' Interior Ministry recently denied that it has made arrests in recent days for "resistance against the occupation [Israel]." A spokesman for the Interior Ministry said, "[o]ur security apparatus is part of the resistance and does not arrest anyone who resists the occupation. On the contrary, we encourage resistance."

Israeli media outlets have recently reported, however, that Hamas is under heavy pressure from Egypt to quell the rocket fire into Israel and arrest those responsible. And according to the Al Quds newspaper, Hamas recently relayed a message to Israel via Egypt claiming that since the rocket fire, it has tried to control the situation by tightening border areas, calling on factions to abide by the ceasefire that ended Operation Pillar of Defense, and arresting Salafi jihadists responsible for the rocket attacks.

An Interview With Gaza's New Terror Leader - Abu Mustafa

This really is a fascinating article and interview from over at Spiegel, I encourage you to read the whole thing. Abu Mustafa leads a terror group in the Gaza Strip that follows the Salafi or Wahabbi form of islam - that is the same form that Osama bin Laden follows and is the most extreme form of the dark ages theology. I want to excerpt some very candid and stark quotes from Mustafa (in the interview he was walking on crutches because he had narrowly escaped an Israeli missile attack...darn):

Size of his "army"

Abu Mustafa holds the key to an ideology that many are turning to in the Gaza Strip: Salafist jihadism, a belief in the most radical form of Islam. "We meet secretly in mosques and private homes," says Abu Mustafa, who has become an entry point to the movement for many. He says the Salafis now number up to 5,000 people, not counting the women and children.

What are the choices for those who don't follow Salafi islam?

"Look," says Abu Mustafa, whose beard cascades down his chest, "there will be three possibilities. Some will find their way to Islam. Those who don't want to convert will be able to live in peace under the authority of Islam." For those who don't want to accept the hegemony of Islam, however, holy war is the only recipe. "Then we have to fight -- just like our brothers on Sept. 11," Abu Mustafa says.

How will the Salafis deal with Hamas?

There's a long way to go before they can begin their struggle for global influence. First, they have to take care of an enemy closer to home: Hamas.
So far, Hamas has done what it can to keep the Salafis under control. They know the ultra-radicals are just waiting to take over Hamas' position of leadership. "They are traitors," Abu Mustafa says of Hamas. "Compared to us, they are Islamism lite."
Nevertheless, he's willing to be merciful. "We will give them the chance to turn away from the false path," he says. And what happens if they don't take up the offer? "Then there will be confrontation," Abu Mustafa promises, bringing his fists together. Still, he doesn't think it likely that the Salafis will have to take up arms against Hamas. "It won't be necessary. They will destroy themselves

."

Why has Hamas failed?

The group's greatest sin, says Abu Mustafa, who is also the father of two children, is its effort to bring Islam and democracy together. "Hamas represents an American style of Islam. They have tried to curry favor." Which is not such a bad thing for Abu Mustafa and his Salafis. "Hamas is like a block of ice in the sun," he says. "Every minute they get smaller -- and we get larger."

It appears that the Israelis got very unlucky when they missed this man in that missile attack as there certainly is a growing threat from him. Although, I think he misjudges Hamas - Hamas isn't going to give up their power and stature easily and what Mustafa seems to forget is that Hamas has the nation of Iran behind them - that's a lot of money, weaponry and leverage.

'Compared to Us, Hamas Is Islamism Lite'

Global power is their goal, and they are willing to slaughter innocents to get there. A group of ultra-radical Islamists are training in the Gaza Strip, and SPIEGEL ONLINE met with one of their leaders.

It's not easy to find a place to meet the man who goes by the name of Abu Mustafa. A number of places were agreed on and jettisoned. Finally, after hours of cruising around Gaza City with Abu Mustafa's driver, the call came. The meeting would take place on the beach. There are enough people on the beach that one doesn't attract so much attention, the caller explained. How absurd this notion was would soon become clear.
Most people don't stick out on the beaches of Gaza to the degree that Abu Mustafa does. He picks his way across the sand on crutches, his leg wrapped in a cast up to his thigh. The Pakistani clothes he wears are also foreign -- and the white shirt that hangs to his knees makes walking on crutches even more difficult. Finally he slumps in a plastic chair. "Peace be upon you," he says quietly, welcoming his guest.
Many people would like to speak with Abu Mustafa these days -- he guesses about 10 men call him each day. Abu Mustafa holds the key to an ideology that many are turning to in the Gaza Strip: Salafist jihadism, a belief in the most radical form of Islam. "We meet secretly in mosques and private homes," says Abu Mustafa, who has become an entry point to the movement for many. He says the Salafis now number up to 5,000 people, not counting the women and children.

Abu Mustafa's broken leg and the scars on his right hand are the result of an Israeli rocket attack. In January, he and a few of his comrades fired rockets across the border into Israel. Afterwards, as they were heading home, an Israeli missile hit them.
Four men were injured and one, as Abu Mustafa says, became a martyr. The fact that his leg still hurts six months later is something he bears with stoicism. "It is not important how one feels in this life, rather whether one enters paradise or hell after death," he says.
For his part, Abu Mustafa claims he is not afraid of death. He says he is not fighting for worldly things. And he hopes he will fall in the struggle for his beliefs.
"On the other hand," he says before pushing himself up and limping back to his car, "I would love to see my daughter wed. Maybe she will marry first, and then I will become a martyr."
