The Warped Priorities of the American Press


In a shocking development, the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., has put its weight and prestige behind the bogus "news organization" Al Jazeera and its reporters, now jailed in Egypt, for associating with the pro-terrorist Muslim Brotherhood.

A statement issued by the NPC calls for the "immediate release" of "imprisoned Al Jazeera journalists" in Egypt, but fails to take into account the pro-terrorist nature of this so-called "independent" news organization and its documented links to the Muslim Brotherhood.

NPC President Angela Greiling Keane, whose name appears on the statement, is a reporter for Bloomberg News who mostly covers transportation issues and has no record of expertise in foreign affairs. Her bio says, "She's written about topics ranging from Chevrolet Volt fires to Toyota's lobbyist revolving door to the Postal Service buying too many Simpsons cartoon stamps."

In numerous articles going back several years, Accuracy in Media has documented the ties between Al Jazeera and the Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist organizations. Indeed, anti-Al Jazeera posters had appeared in Egypt saying, "A bullet kills a man, a lying camera kills a nation." Fear of the channel's influence among jihadists and its ties to terrorists led the new government to close the channel-after 22 staffers had quit in disgust over its pro-Muslim Brotherhood bias-and then to arrest several remaining staffers.

Al Jazeera is best known to Americans as the voice of al Qaeda before and after 9/11. However, it now has an affiliate, Al Jazeera America, in as many as 50 million U.S. homes, and demanding even more access to the U.S. media market.

Rather than defend the Muslim Brotherhood and its alleged agents in the media, a case that is under active investigation and possible prosecution by the Egyptian government, the U.S. media should instead rally around David Satter, a veteran reporter with an impeccable reputation whose visa to enter Russia has just been rejected by the Vladimir Putin regime. Satter's background includes serving as a Moscow news correspondent for The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times.

The far more important Satter case came to light on Monday night, as Russia gears up for the Sochi 2014 Olympic games next month.

Satter has not been charged with any crime by the Russian regime. However, he has shown his willingness to investigate the Putin regime and its use of intelligence agents to blame terrorism on political enemies and scapegoats, and to harass and kill political opponents. This is apparently what makes Satter so dangerous in the eyes of the Kremlin.

Satter's many articles have included "Russia's Anti-American Foreign Policy" and "Justice for Alexander Litvinenko," the latter a reference to a former Soviet KGB officer murdered by the Kremlin after he blew the whistle on the involvement of the Russian intelligence service in alleged Islamic terrorism in Russia. Anna Politkovskaya is one of many Russian journalists murdered for daring to investigate the Putin regime.

Satter, who now serves as an adviser to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, was told by a Russian Embassy official that his presence in Russia was considered "undesirable" and that his visa request had been rejected. No explanation was given, but it may have to do with Satter's testimony before Congress in 2007 about the involvement of the Putin regime and its intelligence service in the bombings blamed on Islamic terrorists in 1999, attacks which killed hundreds and injured more than one thousand.

Like the recent bombings in Russia, which have given Putin the opportunity to posture as an opponent of international terrorism, the 1999 attacks were blamed on Islamists.

However, it was during President Ronald Reagan's presidency that Russian involvement in terrorism, much of it emanating from the Arab world, was exposed and highlighted. Putin served as a Soviet KGB officer before becoming Russian president.

Jeffrey Scott Shapiro recently wrote an article for Fox News describing Litvinenko as "The man Putin fears most," even though he was assassinated in 2006, because of the knowledge he shared about the FSB, the successor to the KGB, and the continuing investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death. Shapiro notes that journalist Luke Harding was expelled from Russia in 2011 while investigating the Litvinenko matter.

Shapiro's column also cited Satter's testimony before the U.S. Congress on the matter.

Although it is not known if the Al Jazeera "journalists" in custody are in fact members of any terrorist organization, that would seem to be a proper matter for the Egyptian court system to determine, and not something that journalists in America should try to determine in advance of those proceedings.

The Associated Press reports that Egyptian Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat has accused the Al Jazeera employees in custody of belonging to the Muslim Brotherhood and setting up a media network with the aim of "tarnishing Egypt's image abroad and harming its political position."

Yet, National Press Club President Keane claims in her statement that the jailing of the Al Jazeera personnel constitutes an effort "to suppress Al Jazeera's reporting" and "should be seen as anathema to supporters everywhere of the public's right to an independent and critical press."

Considering Al Jazeera's well-documented record of service to the Muslim Brotherhood and other terrorist groups, this seems like a case of Keane and the National Press Club jumping to unwarranted conclusions.

Al Jazeera is not "independent;" rather, it is dependent for its funding on the government of Qatar, an undemocratic regime that sponsors al-Qaeda and Jihadist terror groups throughout the Middle East. Qatar's role in fomenting revolutions in other Arab states has been well-documented, even by the American press including such papers as The New York Times.

Nevertheless, the NPC statement says, "The club lends its voice to those of other news organizations and free-press groups-including Reporters Without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists-in speaking out against the Egyptian government's crackdown on Al Jazeera's news-gathering efforts."

This raises the question of whether Al Jazeera was engaged in "news-gathering efforts," or if it was operating as a mouthpiece for the Muslim Brotherhood-in which case the regime's "crackdown" was warranted as a public safety measure.

Despite unanswered questions about Al Jazeera's role in supporting the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, several journalists associated with prominent American news organizations have also signed a separate statement calling for the Al Jazeera personnel to be immediately released.

These journalists include Christiane Amanpour and Ben Wedeman of CNN, Edith Chapin of National Public Radio, Douglas Jehl of The Washington Post, Joseph Kahn of The New York Times, Sarah Lynch of USA Today, Ben Smith of BuzzFeed, and Bill Spindle of The Wall Street Journal.

Can you imagine?  America's media is convening in Colorado for a conference to confront the idea that corporate business has much too strong a hold on America's media and that the bias of that same media just simply isn't left wing slanted enough.

Yep.  You heard me right.  Our journalists in this country simply don't think the full message of the Left, of Marxism is getting out effectively enough.

Leftist ‘Media Reform’ Conference Underway in Denver


Denver, Colorado: Disgraced CBS newsman Dan Rather returned with an appearance in a new film, "Shadows of Liberty," which had its U.S. premiere at the "National Conference for Media Reform" in Denver on Thursday night. The film-and Rather-contend that corporate power has taken control of the American media, leaving the American people uninformed about current events.

The conference is based on the premise that the media are not left-wing enough, and that government regulations and subsidies are necessary to restore the concept of a "public media" that people can rely on for news and information. A big focus of this year's conference is urging the Obama Administration to promote more federal control over the Internet, under the guise of "net neutrality."

Rather, who left CBS after being caught up in a scandal in which fake documents were used to smear former President George Bush, was hired by billionaire Mark Cuban for his HDNet channel, which is now called AXS TV. He narrates a little-watched show called "Dan Rather Reports."

It is telling that he has now become a hero of the far-left.

The film also featured Julian Assange of WikiLeaks, whose service to the Russians included hosting a program on the Kremlin-funded Russia Today (RT) channel, before he went into hiding from rape charges.

While the film had its good parts, such as a segment on the official cover-up in the TWA 800 tragedy, the constant refrain about "corporate power" being at the root of all major media scandals was not only disputable but tiresome. It demonized President Ronald Reagan for deregulating the media, a policy decision that gave rise to conservative talk radio and more, not less, diverse voices in the media.

The rise and influence of left-wing media, including outlets such as MSNBC, was completely ignored in "Shadows of Liberty."

Five years in the making, the film seemed strangely out of date, focusing on an alleged "media monopoly in American journalism" when one of the featured commentators, Amy Goodman, who is a star at this conference, claims to be broadcasting on 1,149 stations around the world. This figure includes dozens of public TV stations in the U.S.

The liberal tilt of public broadcasting was also ignored in the film.

Goodman, co-host of Democracy Now!, is so far to the left that she ran a special program honoring Castro collaborator Che Guevara. Her co-host, Juan Gonzalez, who also writes for the New York Daily News, was a member of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), which spawned the terrorist Weather Underground.

Gonzalez is on the conference panel called "The Media's Influence on the Immigration Debate," which is described as dealing in part with "the Republican Party's anti-Latino positions..."

In 2008, Goodman and Gonzalez used their program as a platform for Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, so they could dispute then GOP-vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's charge that they were terrorist associates of Barack Obama.

Another star at the conference is University of Illinois Marxist Professor Robert McChesney, the co-founder of Free Press, the sponsor of the conference. He is identified as a "media scholar," even though he hosts a public radio show that excludes conservatives

In an article in the socialist Monthly Review, "Journalism, Democracy, and Class Struggle," McChesney had declared, "Our job is to make media reform part of our broader struggle for democracy, social justice, and, dare we say it, socialism."

He once introduced Obama's notorious anti-American pastor, Jeremiah Wright, at an event to celebrate the socialist publication.

At the time, we noted that Free Press had received at least $1 million from the Open Society Institute of billionaire George Soros, a mega-capitalist who seems to have dedicated his life to overturning the system that made him wealthy.

However, a major new player at this year's Free Press conference is the New America Foundation, another Soros-funded group. Indeed, a Friday morning session, "More Diversity, Less Consolidation: How to Change the Media," will be moderated by Mark Lloyd, who is in charge of the New America Foundation's "Media Policy Initiative." A former Associate General Counsel and Chief Diversity Officer at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), Lloyd had praised the Marxist revolution in Venezuela, where the regime has attempted to control or even eliminate private media sources.

Funding for the New America Foundation includes $1 million each from:

The Ford Foundation

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation
Eric and Wendy Schmidt (the Google chairman and his wife)

Funding in the category of $250,000 - $999,999 comes from two Soros entities, the Foundation to Promote Open Society and the Open Society Institute. But a similar amount is also listed from the U.S. Department of State.

In an interesting development, former Obama State Department official Anne-Marie Slaughter was just named as the New America Foundation's next president, effective September 1.

As the Free Press conference was preparing to get under way here in Denver, The New America Foundation issued a release saying that its Open Technology Institute and Media Policy Initiative had "joined over 40 other public interest groups on a letter, led by former FCC Commissioner Michael Copps, that calls on President Obama to appoint an FCC chairperson committed to prioritizing the public interest, not one who works for the will of corporate interests."

Copps is on the Friday panel hosted by former FCC official Mark Lloyd.

The outgoing FCC chairman, Julius Genachowski, has failed to subject Al Gore's sale of Current TV to Al Jazeera to any scrutiny at all. But that doesn't bother the left-wing "Free Press" organization one tiny bit. They seem to welcome government funding or sponsorship of media organizations, even if the money comes from the Obama Administration, Qatar or Russia.

Al Jazeera is funded by the pro-Jihadist government of Qatar and is regarded as the voice of the pro-terrorist Muslim Brotherhood.

On Sunday, the National Conference for Media Reform will feature a panel discussion titled, "Manufacturing Terror: The Media's Anti-Arab and Anti-Muslim Problem," with Ahmed Shihab-Eldin of HuffPost Live. He is a former producer for Al Jazeera.

Remember the Bush years when the New York Times couldn't wait to publish every single possible military secret they could get their little grubby hands on?  Remember ABC News outing the names of the CIA interrogators from Gitmo?  Well, it appears that when Barack Hussein Obama is in the White House, the U.S. media falls right in line and keeps their little mouths shut.  Do you suppose if George W. Bush had arranged for a secret predator drone base in Saudi Arabia that the likes of the NYT or ABC News or NBC would have kept a lid on that?

The revelation that the US has been operating a secret drone base in Saudi Arabia for the past two years came after a blackout on reporting agreed by American media and the Obama administration was broken by two US newspapers.

The first pilotless CIA mission flown from the base killed Anwar al-Awlaki, a US-born cleric and senior figure in al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, and a deputy in September 2011, reports said.

Another Predator drone strike killed Awlaki’s 16-year-old son Abdulrahman weeks later, though US officials claimed in the Washington Post that he was not the target of the attack.

The Washington Post said several US media organisations knew of the drone base but abided by official requests not to disclose its location because of the risk to counter-terrorism cooperation with Saudi Arabia.



The Post said that when it learned that another news organisation - the New York Times - planned to break the agreement, it decided to publish what it knew.

Greg Miller and Karen DeYoung of the Post said: "The Washington Post had refrained from disclosing the location at the request of the administration, which cited concern that exposing the facility would undermine operations against an al-Qaeda affiliate regarded as the network’s most potent threat to the United States, as well as potentially damage counterterrorism collaboration with Saudi Arabia.

"The Post learned Tuesday night that another news organisation was planning to reveal the location of the base, effectively ending an informal arrangement among several news organisations that had been aware of the location for more than a year."

A Justice Department memo published by NBC News on Tuesday argued that Americans high up in Al-Qaeda could be lawfully killed, even without evidence they are actively plotting an attack.

President Barack Obama’s decision to nominate John Brennan as CIA director has brought into focus the quasi-official lethal drone programme, which has killed an estimated 3,000 militants and civilians in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Yemen.

Mr Brennan faces a confirmation hearing in Congress on Thursday that provides critics a rare chance to question the ethics of using drone missiles.

Liberal Media: More Powerful Than Ever

You know what I am sick and tired of?  It's those on the right in this country who point to the low viewership ratings for CNN and MSNBC and the big three networks and scoff at their "play" in the country - I'm sick and tired of it because it's flat out wrong and as the title of the post from Family Security Matters says, this liberal media, this literal propaganda arm of the Progressive movement in America is affecting the direction of this country - you can point to Fox's higher ratings all you want, the fact of the matter is that millions of Americans are casting their votes based upon the lies of the MSM.  And we are all now paying the price for that.

Liberal Media: More Powerful Than Ever


Writing before Obama won the election, Tucker Carlson and Neil Patel of the Daily Caller contended that bias, dishonesty, and corruption were helping to undermine and destroy the liberal media. "The broadcast networks, the big daily newspapers, the newsweeklies - they're done," they said. "It's only a matter of time, and everyone who works there knows it."

Unfortunately, there is no evidence this is the case. Although liberal news outlets are losing viewers and readers, Obama's victory has invigorated these news organizations and given them a new lease on life. They are more powerful than ever because they correctly predicted the race. They understood the nature of the electorate and how it had shifted in Obama's favor. What they have achieved is something that the conservative media were striving for-a measure of credibility. It came not through their reporting, of course, but through their emphasis on polls and an understanding of how a progressive infrastructure, financed largely by George Soros, has assumed great importance for the Democratic Party machine.

Many in the liberal media are gloating that so many Fox News commentators were proven wrong in their predictions of a Romney victory. Not surprisingly, the conservative predictions of a Romney victory were mocked on Jon Stewart's The Daily Show.

By contrast, Nate Silver of The New York Times, one of the nation's most prominent liberal outlets, has achieved enormous credibility, having correctly predicted Obama's victory and the outcome in 50 out of 50 states. USA Today noted, "Silver had been under fire from Republicans for consistently putting Obama's chance of winning in a range of 60-90 percent." The FiveThirtyEight blogger turned out to be correct.

Bret Baier used his "Winners & Losers" segment on the Fox News Channel Special Report program to acknowledge that liberal or Democratic-leaning surveys and polls came out on top in predicting this year's presidential election. He noted that a Fordham University study "credits the Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling (PPP) as the most accurate of the survey companies this year." PPP also does a poll in partnership with the Daily Kos and the Services Employees International Union (SEIU), and it was second.

Rasmussen, one of the favorite polls of conservatives, was near the bottom of the list of the 28 polling organizations. Rasmussen had Romney leading Obama 49-48 percent on Election Day.

University of Colorado political science professors Kenneth Bickers and Michael Berry, who appeared on Fox News and talk radio, had projected an Electoral College landslide for Mitt Romney based on a model using economic factors such as unemployment data and changes in personal income. On the Fox Business website, Gerri Willis cited the prediction, noting that "Obama faces the headwinds of history. No President since FDR has been re-elected when unemployment is above 8 percent." How many times did we hear that statistic mentioned in the context of the belief that Romney was destined to win?

"The model was wrong," Bickers is now quoted as saying. Eric Gorski of the Denver Post reported, "Bickers said the Obama campaign managed to neutralize Romney's ‘strengths on economic stewardship'-exit polls showed voters held similar views on each candidate's ability to steer the economy-in part by shifting attention to issues such as immigration and women's reproductive rights that play to Obama's strengths."

None of this negates the fact that Carlson and Patel were correct in their analysis of liberal media bias. They wrote, "Not in our lifetimes have so many in the press dropped the pretense of objectivity in order to help a political candidate. The media are rooting for Barack Obama. They're not hiding it." They went on to say that "many in the press are every bit as corrupt as conservatives have accused them of being," but added, "The good news is, it's almost over."

It's not over. Conservative use of flawed polling data has played into the hands of the liberal media. In order to recapture credibility in covering politics, the conservative media will have to acknowledge not only the bias on the other side, but the bias on their own.

A good start was made by Breitbart's John Nolte, who wrote: "Mea culpa. We were dead wrong about the polls. Not only did the Real Clear Politics poll of polls end up being almost perfectly precise, but the most accurate pollster of the 2012 election cycle ended up being the Daily Kos' Public Policy Polling (PPP). My guys, Gallup and Rasmussen, didn't even make the top twenty."

Real Clear Politics, an aggregator of polls, had Obama winning by 2.5 percent. The actual results were Obama 50.8 and Romney 48.3.

MSNBC Journalist, Kari Huus, Sides With the Muslim Honor Killing of Women and Girls

I ran across this article at MSNBC.com about the conference held in Dearborn, Michigan calling attention to yet another honor killing in this country and was shocked to find that the writer of the article, Kari Huus, sided with the Islamic ritual of honor killing Muslim women and girls - the conference, headed up by Pamela Geller and other prominent counter-jihad leaders in this country was portrayed in this article as "islamophobic" and Huus went out of her way to make the conference leaders the bad guys, EXCUSING the murderer of a 20 year old young woman in Michigan.


I ask you a simple question, Kari Huus....how do you sleep at night, you hypocritical twit?  This is the same Kari Huus that wrote this article about a Chinese woman activist and the terrible abuse she was subjected to by the Chinese government.  Hmmmm.  So we have the bleeding heart of Kari Huus reaching out to the poor woman in China but she's 100% behind Muslim men in America getting away killing their wives and daughters in the name of allah?

In the article about the Dearborn conference, Ms. Huus used half of the article to attack Pamela Geller - who's on trial here, Ms. Huus?  Pam Geller or a cult following father who killed his own daughter?  Here's some of the "great" and "unbiased" reporting by Kari Huus:

"Pamela Geller is the anti-Muslim movement's most visible and flamboyant figurehead," according to a profile published by SPLC on its web site. "She's relentlessly shrill and coarse in her broad-brush denunciations of Islam and makes preposterous claims."

"Geller and Spencer have thousands of followers, and are given airtime to spew their hate on major American news networks, as if they are respected analysts with just another viewpoint," Zogby said on the AAI announcement for the "Rejecting Islamophobia" town hall in Detroit.

One participant who was just on his way to the town hall was Dawud Walid, who heads the Michigan office of the Council on American Islamic Relations, a civil rights advocacy group for Muslims.

"I think firstly we have to better expose who these anti-Muslim bigots are as well as their funders," said Walid. "We believe that the Islamophobia that permeates our country is being pushed by a well-organized, highly-funded network."

He says that while Dearborn and Detroit have become a focus for the activities of Geller and others of like mind, the problem is bigger.

"Islamophobia is a national illness," he said.

There you have it folks - the so-called journalistic expertise of an advocate of honor killings.  You see, Ms. Huus didn't take any time to ponder that the killing of this 20 year old young woman just MIGHT be the work of an adherence to Sharia Law...hell no, she grasped onto this story because she wanted to write a hate piece on Pamela Geller.

You're a joke, Kari Huus.  I take it that the fact that you got your degree at the University of Singapore might account for your support of Muslims in America but what I can't figure out is why you support the killing of Muslim women and girls inside of America?

Dueling in Dearborn over murder of a 20-year-old woman

In Dearborn Mich., a Detroit suburb known for its concentration of Muslim Americans, anti-Islam leaders from around the country are gathering to discuss how to rescue women from that faith. The "Jessica Mokdad Human Rights Conference on Honor Killings" on Sunday is named for a local Muslim woman murdered one year ago.

But Muslims, civil rights groups and other religious leaders say the conference is merely another event put on by well-known bigots to attack the minority religion. Their response was to schedule a town hall meeting just a few miles away on Sunday called "Rejecting Islamophobia: A Community Stand Against Hate."

The honor killing conference, organized by Pamela Geller, who became nationally famous for her vocal opposition to the Ground Zero Mosque, aka Park 51 in Manhattan, is based on the premise that Mokdad, 20 years old when she died in April 2011, was the victim of an honor killing justified by Islam.

Mokdad’s family maintains that the killing was a tragedy that has nothing to do with their Islamic beliefs, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.

"It's not a case based on honor," Macomb County Assistant Prosecutor Bill Cataldo, chief of homicide, told the Free Press on Friday.

In court, prosecutors have said the motive for Mokdad’s killing was that her stepfather, Rahim Alfetlawi had "been sexually abusing her," Cataldo said, according to the report. They argue that when she threatened to go public about the abuse he killed her.

Cataldo said the family strongly objects to the conference using Mokdad’s killing, which they say was a tragedy that had nothing to do with their faith.

Geller insists this was an honor killing carried out by a devout Muslim because his stepdaughter was not following Islam, and that the family is covering it up. She alleges that law enforcers systematically cover up honor killings here and elsewhere under "stealth enforcement" of Islamic shariah law.

On her web site, Geller says: "Despite pressure from the media and members of Jessica's family who want to cover up the honor killing aspect of her murder, we are not going to change the name of the conference. Unlike those closest to her, we are going to honor Jessica's memory and stand up against the brutal practice that took her life."

The Dearborn conference will feature speeches by Geller and Robert Spencer — author of the blog "Jihad Watch" — as well as several like-minded legal and religious figures. They have also invited a young man who says he was Mokdad’s friend to offer "firsthand testimony" that she was a victim of honor killing.

Stop the Islamization of America, which Geller and Spencer founded, has been listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, a non-profit civil rights watchdog.

Although many Americans have never encountered a Muslim in person, about 43 percent questioned in a recent Gallup Poll said they felt at least “a little” prejudice against Muslims.

"This group, we cannot ignore. This is the time for our community to take a stand, along with all those who value America’s commitment to diversity and freedom of religion, against the politics of division and bigotry promoted by the Islamophobes."

A variety of community, interfaith and religious leaders and Michigan public on their agenda, for a "community conversation about how to respond to these continued attacks," said Zogby.

One participant who was just on his way to the town hall was Dawud Walid, who heads the Michigan office of the Council on American Islamic Relations, a civil rights advocacy group for Muslims.

"I think firstly we have to better expose who these anti-Muslim bigots are as well as their funders," said Walid. "We believe that the Islamophobia that permeates our country is being pushed by a well-organized, highly-funded network."

He says that while Dearborn and Detroit have become a focus for the activities of Geller and others of like mind, the problem is bigger.

"Islamophobia is a national illness," he said.

CNN....Cable Nazi Network?

This article from Family Security Matters deals with how CNN fired all Jewish journalists last week but retained all Arab journalists in its Jerusalem bureau - providing more fuel for the fire that CNN's all too well know Arab bias to their reporting in the Middle East would reach a new level of slant. We have to remember that it's been the likes of CNN who traditionally has covered any situation in Israel or Gaza or the West Bank with a propaganda like bias for the so-called Palestinians.....we've all seen the simulated scenes of Pali casualties with 100% healthy children being carried from ambulances into hospitals, for example.

So now, CNN has made the decision that there will only be Arab journalists covering any stories out of the Jerusalem bureau - oh boy....we outta seem some real reporting out of the region now, huh?

It was first reported on the Dreuz Info website last Thursday February 9. The article “CNN Israel fired all Jewish journalists” stated in the first paragraph,

It is likely to provoke a wave of shock and indignation within the North American media industry, and it certainly will not calm down the controversy over the pro-palestinian CNN treatment of the conflict.

The article went on to explain,

What goes beyond good management is that CNN has fired four Israeli Jewish journalists (out of a crew of 8), and has retained only Arab journalists. Where, until now, CNN always sent a Jewish and an Arab journalist to cover information, now there will be only an Arab journalist. The local chief editor of the News Chanel is now Arabic.

An update added to the article listed the names of those fired and their positions,

Update at 8:30 PST: we just received the names of the four journalists that were fired:
Moshe Cohen, editor, fired on january 30, 10 years with CNN.
Izi Landberg, Producer, about 25 years with CNN, fired on January 30.
Avi Kaner cameraman fired on january 30, 10 years with CNN.
Michal Zippori desk producer, situation still unclear.

The story went viral and was re-posted on every Pro-Israel and Anti-Jihad site with each publication simply placing the original article from Dreuz or quoting the original article. Some of those placed a paragraph or two above the story venting their frustration and anger, but no matter how much I searched I couldn’t find any other story confirming the original story.

Those that are regular readers of mine know that I treat every story with a grain of Middle Eastern sand and like to triple and quadruple check everything before I state it as fact. So, as usual, check with the source. Where better to check out a story about CNN, then on CNN?

CNN reported the story as false, but the wording of their statement was questionable to say the least,

CNN Statement on Jerusalem Bureau
Rumors that CNN is only employing Arabs in its Jerusalem Bureau are completely false.
There are Israeli Jews working in CNN’s Jerusalem bureau.
The bureau chief, Kevin Flower, is not Arab as some have speculated.
We strongly reject any suggestion that the reorganization in the Jerusalem bureau is in any way based on the small number of contract employees concerned being Israeli, particularly given CNN’s long history of working with locals in the region.

The original article stated that all “Jewish journalists” had been fired, is CNN playing word games?

Yes, there may very well be Israeli Jews working in the CNN Jerusalem bureau, but are any of them “journalists” or do they have an Israeli working the door as security?

Also, nowhere did I see any reports claiming that bureau chief, Kevin Flower was an Arab. Yet CNN felt it necessary to state “The bureau chief, Kevin Flower, is not Arab as some have speculated”.

Perhaps that was due to the wording of the original story on Dreuze and perhaps their wording was misleading. Allow me to explain, there are many Arabs that are Jewish, just as there are Arab Christians and Arab Muslims.

Did CNN fire all Jews and only retain those that were not? CNN does not deny that Kevin Flower is not Jewish; they only state that he is not an Arab. Just another play on words when you read the CNN statement.

But let’s look at the CNN Jerusalem office for a moment. According to a CNN press release, the Jerusalem Bureau first opened in 1983. Kevin Flower had been the Baghdad Bureau Chief and was appointed Bureau Chief of the Jerusalem bureau on January 3, 2009.

What happened to those who held the position before Flower? Mike Hanna comes to mind, he was the CNN Jerusalem Bureau Chief and went to… Wait for it… Al-Jazeera. According to Al-Jazeera,

Mike Hanna (Doha) is a journalist with more than 25 years' experience of reporting from the world's hot spots; formerly, Mike was CNN's Jerusalem bureau chief, supervising and leading the network's ongoing coverage of the dramatic events in the region.

Mike Hanna is just one example, a great example at that, of CNN bias towards Israel. But it goes much farther than a previous Jerusalem bureau chief moving to Al-Jazeera.

If you bother to watch CNN and their reporting from Israel, to say it is slanted would be an understatement. CNN doesn’t use subliminal messages, no, they just slant the stories. When reporting on Jewish settlements they refer to them as “illegal” Jewish settlements. Often they refer to parts of Israel as “Palestine”.

There is no doubt about bias in the media, we have all witnessed it and I have written about extensively, but for CNN to fire all “Jewish” journalists from an office located in the ‘Jewish State’ seems to go back to the Nazi era of “Juden verboten” (Jews forbidden).

Yeah, anti-Semitism isn’t on the rise, it’s all just our over active imagination, but I wonder, will CNN bother to release the names of those that are Jewish who are still employed in their Jerusalem office since that would be the easiest way to put the story of bias to rest?

I doubt it, I’ll be waiting, but I won’t be holding my breath, I look really bad in blue.

Journalism's Hidden Agenda

This article up at Family Security Matters does a great job of documenting yet another case of the filtered "news" that America is receiving...especially if the news is in regards to Islamic terror here on our own soil. The bottom line in all of this is that there is an engineered initiative amongst the media outlets of this country to insulate any references to "Islam" to "Muslim" to "allahu ackbar" and such - we have seen this over and over again. Remember how the news media covered up the fact that the shooter on the streets of Hollywood was shouting "allahu ackbar?"

As citizens of this country, it's high time that we demand accuracy in reporting and thankfully, we have the citizen media of the internet to give us the real facts.

Journalism's Hidden Agenda


July of last year I wrote about the reporting of Anders Behring Breivik and the tragedy in Norway. I wrote at that time,

Depending who you ask or where you studied journalism, one of the first rules is to keep your bias out of the story. So what happened?

Somewhere during my lifetime it seems that all journalists or to be more specific, reporters, took sides. The way they state things or in many cases, don’t state them is a pure and blatant attempt to sway the reader.

Last October in an article I wrote about the media attacks on Dr. Walid Phares I wrote,

It is one thing to disagree with someone or their views; it’s something else when you blatantly lie, have no proof to back up what you are claiming and then you call it journalism.

What’s more, are those in the media that never bother to check something they have read and then regurgitate it over and over without any basis whatsoever, writing their own article using the original lies and still refer to it as “journalism”.

We have all heard the term ‘mainstream media’ and most of you reading this have probably used it more than once, and not in any complimentary sense. The problem as I see it is that maybe we should stop calling it the ‘media’ all together.

According to the Business Dictionary the word ‘media’ is defined as,

Communication channels through which news, entertainment, education, data, or promotional messages are disseminated. Media includes every broadcasting and narrowcasting medium such as newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, billboards, direct mail, telephone, fax, and internet.

Since 9/11, the way that media outlets have been reporting the news when it comes to Islam, Muslims and even terrorism, it could probably be considered “entertainment”, except for one problem, it’s not funny.

There have been over 45 thwarted terror attacks here in the U.S. since 9/11, which is of course only counting those that have even been reported. Chances are you did not hear or read about all of them.

I know of many incidents that were reported in the news, but in no way ever associated to terrorism. Little facts such as never reporting the name of the individual committing the act if it in anyway sounds Islamic. Leaving out the fact that suspect screamed “Allah Akbar” while committing the act, or attempting to sway the reader to believe that the motive was due to “mental instability”.

The latest ‘media’ screw up would have to be that of Yonathan Melaku. If the name doesn’t mean anything to you, I am not at all surprised.

Remember last June 17 when a man carrying ‘suspected’ bomb making materials and pro-al-Qaeda literature was arrested in Arlington National Cemetery? It just about shut down D.C. due to the bomb scare and consequential search that followed.

Inside his backpack he had ammonium nitrate, spent ammunition from an automatic weapon and a can of black spray paint. A notebook he was carrying had the words “al qaeda,” “Taliban rules,” “mujahidin” and “defeated coalition forces.”

At the time of his arrest most media outlets made this story the headline and speculated it was another thwarted terror attack. But in that case they really had no choice, he was arrested near the Pentagon. Both the Department of Homeland Security’s spokesman and lead Special Agent from the FBI counterterrorism unit were giving interviews at the scene.

But as time went on and other news became more important, this story like any other was eventually forgotten. But when the investigation in to Melaku revealed he was the same individual that shot at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, the Pentagon, and two other military buildings in October and November 2010 it not only never became headlines, it barely made the news.

Melaku, a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Ethiopia and was a former Marine reservist was sentenced last Thursday in U.S. District Court in Alexandria. He pleaded guilty to three counts, including shooting at the Pentagon on Oct. 19, 2010 and attempting to injure veterans’ memorials on U.S. property.

He admitted five shootings from Oct. 17, 2010, through Nov. 2, 2010, twice at the National Museum of the Marine Corps, the Pentagon, a Marine Corps recruiting sub-station in Chantilly, Va., and a U.S. Coast Guard recruiting office in Woodbridge, Va.

It’s one thing that his sentencing and the connection between the Arlington case and the Pentagon shootings didn’t make the headlines, it’s all together another that the video investigators found hasn’t been seen on every major ‘media’ outlet since it was released.

The 10 minute video, which Melaku admitted he setup inside his vehicle to record himself shows him wearing a black mask and a red and white checkered ‘keffiyeh’ (scarf) around his neck. The red and white keffiyeh is worn by Hamas and the Somalian Islamic Al-Qaeda offshoot the Al-Shabaab as well as other terrorist groups.

It shows him shooting a 9mm handgun, outfitted with an extended magazine, from the passenger side window while naming his intended targets, but most telling is his singing along with the Jihadi music playing in the car and screaming “Allah Akbar” repeatedly after shooting.

During the video you hear Melaku over the music,

“That's a military building and that's the building I'm going to be targeting... Last time I hit them, they turned off the lights for like... Four or five days... Punks! Now, here we go again. This time, I'm gonna turn it off permanently. Alright. Alright, next time I turn on this video, I'm gonna be shooting them. That's what they get... That's the target. That's the military building that's going to, gonna get attacked.”

Later in the video he removes the mask revealing his face.

According to the FBI Press Release on their website, U.S. Attorney MacBride stated,

“Yonathan Melaku pled guilty to carrying out a calculated, destructive campaign to instill terror throughout our community. The video he filmed during one drive-by shooting is a chilling portrayal of his intent and the escalating danger he posed. Thanks to the FBI and their law enforcement partners, we were able to apprehend Mr. Melaku, develop the evidence that linked him to the shootings, and secure this conviction today.”

The FBI referred to this act as “terror”, but as I found other reports on the Melaku conviction, not only were they not headlines, they never mentioned the word “terror” or “terrorism” and conveniently leave out that the he screams “Allah Akbar” during the video.

WUSA 9, the CBS Channel in Washington D.C. is one such perfect example. It reported it as follows,

Melaku also admitted on Thursday that he video taped the second shooting at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. He said he set up a video camera inside his car and the video showed Melaku firing a gun out the passenger-side window. He also narrates and at one point says "That's my target. That's the military building. It's going to be attacked."

This CBS station is in D.C., this is where all the attacks occurred, where Melaku was captured and they never mention the FBI statement, “terror” or that he screamed “Allah Akbar”.

The WJLA, ABC Channel 7 out of Arlington, VA report could have been written by the same person as the CBS story as it too seems to forget all about the fact that Melaku screamed “Allah Akbar”. Their story only mentions the portion of the video where Melaku “narrated the incident” talking about attacking a military building.

The Washington Post had the audacity to title their article “Motive of shooter who targeted military sites is unclear”.

Unclear? Really? Within the article at least they mention the FBI statement and that he screamed “Allah Akbar”, but the way they slant the story beyond the laughable title is inexcusable.

Although the Washington Post quotes first assistant U.S. Attorney, Dana Boente,

Melaku wanted “to create fear and terror, which is what terrorists do.”

The rest of the article overshadows it and leaves the reader with these ending thoughts,

Although Melaku acknowledged shooting at the buildings — attacks that did not injure anyone but caused an estimated $111,000 in damage — it still remains unclear why he did it.

Gregory English, Melaku’s defense lawyer, said after the hearing that Melaku’s family is of the Coptic Christian faith and that they were stunned to learn of his involvement in the crimes and the references to Islamic jihad. English said the shootings were out of character for Melaku, and he wonders whether his client suffers from a psychological problem, which he has asked the court to evaluate.

English said Melaku thought that by shooting at the buildings he did, late at night, no one would get hurt. English said the video was intended for YouTube.

“As bad as it is, this is someone who essentially broke windows,” English said. “It’s vandalism. He has no link to terrorism. . . . He had a message, but I don’t understand what that message was supposed to be.”

The Washington Examiner had a whopping 5 paragraph, 174 word story in their ‘local news’ section that like others, somehow lost their vocabulary and managed to report it without ever mentioning Muslim, Islam, terror, terrorism or Ethiopian. They did manage however to squeeze in,

No one was injured in the shootings.

His car was located near the Pentagon, and the FBI said authorities found suspicious materials in the vehicle.

What were those “suspicious materials” again, oh yes, ammonium nitrate, spent ammunition from an automatic weapon, a can of black spray paint and a notebook with the words “al qaeda,” “Taliban rules,” “mujahidin” and “defeated coalition forces.”

This is not by any means an isolated incident. This agenda of bending of backwards to not portray Muslims, be them terrorists or not, in a bad light goes on day in and day out with our so called ‘media’.

Google the name “Sami Osmakac”. He is the 25-year-old Muslim from Kosovo that planned to bomb and attack crowded locations in Tampa with a car bomb, machine guns and other explosives. His arrest just happened this month but the top three stories on Google come from the Daily Mail of the United Kingdom.

I wonder if these names ring a bell to you, Shkumbin Sherifi and Nevine Aly Elsheikh. Again, no surprise that you have not heard of them.

Remember Dylan "Mohammed" Boyd, the ring leader of the North Carolina terrorist cell? 7 men were arrested in July 2009 on charges that they plotted terrorist attacks at U.S. Marine Corps base Quantico in Virginia and targets overseas, they stockpiled weapons and trained in preparation for their jihadist attacks.

One of those seven was Hysen Sherifi, now his brother, Shkumbin Sherifi along with friend Nevine Aly Elsheikh were arrested last week for trying to hire someone to kill and behead at least three witnesses in the case, and he wanted pictures of the corpses to prove that they were dead.

Another story not important enough for mainstream media, but according to channel 5 WRAL in Raleigh, NC,

The FBI faked the death of a man in order to make a suspect accused of paying a hit man to behead three witnesses in a North Carolina terrorism case believe that the gruesome crime had been carried out.

Officials say the plot to execute the witnesses was masterminded by Sherifi's imprisoned older brother Hysen Sherifi. He was sentenced to 45 years earlier this month for his role in what prosecutors described as a conspiracy to attack the Marine base at Quantico, Va., and targets abroad.

I guess the fact that he wanted the witnesses beheaded wasn’t anything news worthy, or for that matter that his female friend Nevine Aly Elsheikh is a “special education” teacher at a Montessori school in Morrisville, NC.

Yeah, that’s special alright. I have to wonder how many parents of children she teaches are even aware of her arrest.

This media/journalism agenda of slanting stories, conveniently leaving facts out and losing their vocabulary to appease Muslims had better stop while we still have freedom of the press in this country.

But then again it doesn’t matter; Once Islam wins this battle we can all start getting our news from Al-Jazeera, it’s about the same as we have now.

Minnesota State Government Shutdown Last Summer Saved Minnesota Taxpayers $5 Million!

Okay, I am going to give you all a lesson in media bias here...not that you need ANOTHER one but this one is pretty funny. The crux of this concerns the government shutdown that occurred in the state of Minnesota last summer when the Republican controlled state legislature refused to raise taxes on the people to address state budget deficits and the liberal state Governor vetoed any legislation that did NOT raise taxes. The Democrats in Minnesota positioned the state government shutdown as the apocolypse...that the state would never recover from the huge losses of shutting down the nanny state.

Well, from the article at TwinCities.com, look at what actually the net result was of the government shutdown:

Minnesota budget officials said today that a 20-day government shutdown in July cost the state nearly $60 million but saved it about $65 million in salaries that weren't paid to state employees.

In a report released today, the Minnesota Management and Budget department said the state lost almost $50 million in revenue and spent about $7 million preparing for the shutdown and $3 million in recovery costs. Those cost estimates could rise, it said.

But that was more than offset by savings in payroll costs for about 19,000 state employees laid off during the shutdown.

So there you have it. Cold hard facts that the state government shutdown actually SAVED the Minnesota taxpayers $5 million dollars!

So, how did the media present the potential cost of the government shutdown back in July? Let's take a look at some of the headlines from various Leftist media back in July scaring the people of Minnesota, threatening a huge cost to everyone because the damn Republicans were holding their ground:

Minneapolis Star and Tribune: " Shutdown cost will bring sticker shock"

MyFox9: "Minnesota Government Shutdown Costs Taxpayers Millions"

Kare11: "Analyst warns about 'great costs' of gov't shutdown"

Hell, look at the headline from the article above from TwinCities.com that actually proves that the shutdown saved the taxpayers money:

"Officials: Minnesota government shutdown cost nearly $60 million"

So, let's just say that I'm a lazy voter in the state of Minnesota and I'm an even lazier news reader....I run across the headline above and don't read the article....I'm going to have a negative view of the shutdown right? Once again, the media carries the water for the liberals - once again the American people (in this case, the people of Minnesota) get lies and distortion in their news.

Here's the end run of the government shutdown in Minnesota last summer. The liberal Governor, Mark Dayton, bet his entire political capital that the government shutdown would cause a catastrophe for the people and cost the state huge dollars - and next year, he could use that fodder to catapult Democrats back into control of the state legislature. His bet was a bad one. The shutdown had little effect unless you were one of the unionized state workers and in the end, the shutdown SAVED the taxpayers money.

So, when the 2012 elections come around, how do you think the media will portray the Governor's tactics of using the state shutdown as a political ploy?

Officials: Minnesota government shutdown cost nearly $60 million


Minnesota budget officials said today that a 20-day government shutdown in July cost the state nearly $60 million but saved it about $65 million in salaries that weren't paid to state employees.

In a report released today, the Minnesota Management and Budget department said the state lost almost $50 million in revenue and spent about $7 million preparing for the shutdown and $3 million in recovery costs. Those cost estimates could rise, it said.

But that was more than offset by savings in payroll costs for about 19,000 state employees laid off during the shutdown.

The report did not include lost productivity and other, unspecified "indirect impacts." The shutdown angered and inconvenienced many Minnesotans, delaying road construction projects, shutting down state parks and the lottery and cutting off the flow of alcohol to some bars.

Budget Commissioner Jim Schowalter said that except for those state employees, the shutdown was essentially a wash because a court-appointed master ordered that many programs were essential and had to be funded during the shutdown. State spending continued at an 80 percent clip.

"The broad economic impact didn't really occur," Schowalter said. "The biggest story was the human impact, and the impact on the state's reputation."

The shutdown came after Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton and GOP legislative majorities couldn't agree on how to close a $5 billion budget shortfall.

Right On Cue, America's Left Begins Palinesque Assault On Herman Cain

Let's make this perfectly clear ... any media commentator or network news anchor that accuses Herman Cain of sexual harassment claims from his days in the National Restaurant Association is a racist. So, when you watch television tonight and you see Rachel Maddow or Lawrence O'Donnell or you hear Ed Schultz bring this up, they are racist against black people.

Got it?

The Liberals in America cannot stand to see a conservative black man start to gain momentum in the race for the Presidential nomination and now have resorted to racist slurs against Herman Cain as the predictability of these attacks is almost laughable.

Some of us call this the tried and true Palinization of a candidate.

But we need to stand firm on all of this - any main stream media personality who dares follow through on the claims that Herman Cain was involved in a payoff of two women who accused him of sexual harassment is showing his or her racist leanings and they must be called out! Just like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh were called out as racists in 2007 and 2008 for reports that Barack Obama was friends with Bill Ayers, that he believed in the teachings of Rev. Jeremiah Wright and that he was friendly with Louis Farrakhan.

The fact of the matter is that any newsman or newswoman that dares to venture down this path of accusation of Cain best be prepared to be labelled as a racist.

Cain denies report of sexual harassment


WASHINGTON (AP) - Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain's campaign is denying allegations that he was twice accused of sexual harassment while he was the head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.

In a statement Sunday to The Associated Press, his campaign disputed a Politico report that said Cain had been accused of sexually suggestive behavior toward at least two female employees.

The report said the women signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them five-figure financial payouts to leave the association and barred them from discussing their departures. Neither woman was identified.

The report was based on anonymous sources and, in one case, what the publication said was a review of documentation that described the allegations and the resolution.

Cain's campaign told the AP that the allegations were not true, and amounted to unfair attacks.

"Inside-the-Beltway media have begun to launch unsubstantiated personal attacks on Cain," spokesman J.D. Gordon said in a written statement. "Dredging up thinly sourced allegations stemming from Mr. Cain's tenure as the Chief Executive Officer at the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, political trade press are now casting aspersions on his character and spreading rumors that never stood up to the facts."

Asked if Cain's campaign was denying the report, Gordon said, "Yes."

"These are baseless allegations," Gordon said in a second interview later Sunday evening. "To my knowledge, this is not an accurate story."

Cain plans to continue with several planned appearances in Washington on Monday. He is slated to discuss his tax plan at the American Enterprise Institute, appear at the National Press Club and hold a healthcare briefing on Capitol Hill.

Cain—a self-styled outsider relatively new to the national stage—is facing a new level of scrutiny after a burst of momentum in the race for the GOP presidential nomination. He's been steadily at or near the top of national surveys and polls in early presidential nominating states, competitive with former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

The former pizza company executive has been pointing to his long record in business to argue that he has the credentials needed to be president during a time of economic strife.

In its report, Politico said it confronted Cain early Sunday outside of the CBS News Washington bureau, where he had just been interviewed on "Face the Nation."

"I am not going to comment on that," he told Politico when asked specifically about one of the woman's claims.

When asked if he had ever been accused of harassment by a woman, he responded, Politico said, by asking the reporter, "Have you ever been accused of sexual harassment?"

A message seeking comment from Peter Kilgore, listed on the National Restaurant Association website as its chief legal counsel, was not immediately returned.

The MSM Won't Report It But NATO Killed or Captured Over 200 Taliban In Eastern Afghanistan

Our propagandists for the Left in America...namely Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O'Donnell and Brian Williams won't report the recent success of NATO against the Taliban in eastern Afghanistan because it would affect their message that America's military is washed up and we are losers. Well, here at Holger Awakens, we celebrate the accomplishments of the most incredible fighting machine on the planet ....our soldiers and Marines in eastern Afghanistan just got done kicking the bloody ass of the Taliban with over 200 of the ragheads being killed or captured. 200 of the bastards and you don't hear a PEEP at your nightly news.

Nato says an estimated 200 insurgents were killed or captured in two military operations that just ended in eastern Afghanistan.

German Brig. Gen. Carsten Jacobson, a spokesman for the US-led coalition in Afghanistan, told reporters Monday that the operations, which lasted about a week, were led by Afghan security forces with the support of coalition troops.

They were aimed at disrupting militant groups, including the al Qaeda and Taliban-affiliated Haqqani network.

Jacobson says that at least 20 insurgents with links to Haqqani were among those killed and captured in the operations conducted in provinces south of Kabul and in areas around the capital and in eastern Afghanistan.

To be honest, I've never understood why our Leftist journalists have such a grudge against our military - I really don't. Why is it so damn hard to just report the facts? What kind of a rush do these newscasters get out of reporting our troops killed or losing a battle and conversely, why do they avoid reporting on our victories? Someone help me out here.

KABUL: Nato says an estimated 200 insurgents were killed or captured in two military operations that just ended in eastern Afghanistan.

German Brig. Gen. Carsten Jacobson, a spokesman for the US-led coalition in Afghanistan, told reporters Monday that the operations, which lasted about a week, were led by Afghan security forces with the support of coalition troops.

They were aimed at disrupting militant groups, including the al Qaeda and Taliban-affiliated Haqqani network.

Jacobson says that at least 20 insurgents with links to Haqqani were among those killed and captured in the operations conducted in provinces south of Kabul and in areas around the capital and in eastern Afghanistan.

The forces also seized more than 400 kilograms of explosives, weapons, munitions and computers.

You know, when American and NATO forces spend over a week in a concerted operation in Kunar province in eastern Afghanistan and kill more than 100 Taliban, you'd think you would find that story in a lot of American news outlets...well, not so. You see, the American press never wishes to acknowledge ANY kind of success of our military so this report had to come out of Pakistan, from DAWN.

We, of course, have seen this all before. When things were going bad in the Iraq War the MSM in America was all over the war....they had reporters embedded, they had nightly tallies of dead American troops...but after the Surge kicked in and our valiant American soldiers and Marines started retaking Fallujah and Ramadi, after we started WINNING, the MSM moved out - they had to get out of Iraq quick because they couldn't risk the chance of showing American troops kicking some ass.

The Media's Love Affair With a Disastrous President

Awesome article written by Rex Murphy over at The National Post pulls the mask completely off the "love affair" the American press has had with one Barack Hussein Obama. Finally....FINALLY we are seeing some people in journalism grow a pair and call it like it is when it comes to the layers and layers of teflon the American media has covered Obama with.

Now, we never expected any sort of witch hunt by the MSM against Obama...after all, he's all they have been wishing for, for years but many of us thought there might be some critique of what has been a display of rookie incompetence and more blatantly, misuse of power and questionable actions by this President.

The author alludes to the conspiracy by the media in America that not only protected and insulated Obama from the tough campaign vetting but literally slapped down anyone who dared raise the issues of Bill Ayers, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and the most liberal record of any U.S. Senator. The bottom line of this was that the American media did NOTHING to prepare the American people for a Marxist taking over the White House.

Rex Murphy: The media’s love affair with a disastrous president


As the bad economic news continues to emanate from the United States — with a double-dip recession now all but certain — a reckoning is overdue. American journalism will have to look back at the period starting with Barack Obama’s rise, his assumption of the presidency and his conduct in it to the present, and ask itself how it came to cast aside so many of its vital functions. In the main, the establishment American media abandoned its critical faculties during the Obama campaign — and it hasn’t reclaimed them since.

Much of the Obama coverage was orchestrated sycophancy. They glided past his pretensions — when did a presidential candidate before “address the world” from the Brandenberg Gate in Berlin? They ignored his arrogance — “You’re likable enough, Hillary.” And they averted their eyes from his every gaffe — such as the admission that he didn’t speak “Austrian.”

The media walked right past the decades-long association of Obama with the weird and racist pastor Jeremiah Wright. In the midst of the brief stormlet over the issue, one CNN host — inexplicably — decided that CNN was going to be a “Wright-free zone.” He could have hung out a sign: “No bad news about Obama here.”

The media trashed Hillary. They burned Republicans. They ransacked Sarah Palin and her family. But Obama, the cool, the detached, the oracular Obama — he strolled to the presidency.

Palin, in particular, stands out as Obama’s opposite in the media’s eyes. As much as they genuflected to the one, they felt the need to turn rottweiler toward the other. If Obama was sacred , classy, intellectual and cosmopolitan, why then Palin must be malevolent, trashy, dumb and pure backwoods-ignorant.

Every doubt they hid from themselves about Obama, every potential embarrassment they tucked under the blanket of their superior sensibilities, they furiously over-compensated for by their remorseless hounding of Palin — from utterly trivial e-mails, to blogger Andrew Sullivan’s weird speculations about Palin’s womb, musings that put the Obama “Birther” fantasies into a realm near sanity. (We are now seeing an echo of that — with a new book promoting all sorts of unconfirmed gossip about Palin, including her alleged sexual dalliance with a basketball star.)

As a result, the press gave the great American republic an untried, unknown and, it is becoming more and more frighteningly clear, incompetent figure as President. Under Obama, America’s foreign policies are a mixture of confusion and costly impotence. It is increasingly bypassed or derided; the great approach to the Muslim world, symbolized by the Cairo speech, is in tatters. Its debt and deficits are a weight on the entire global economy. And the office of presidency is less and less a symbol of strength.

To the degree the press neglected its function as watchdog and turned cupbearer to a Styrofoam demigod, it is a partner in the flaws and failures of what is turning out to be one of the most miserable performances in the modern history of the American presidency.

Why Does NBC's David Gregory Only Follow Republicans On Twitter?

I'm guessing that most of you have seen at least some clips by now of the hatchet job that NBC "Meet the Press" moderator David Gregory did on Michele Bachmann by now - I ask the question...didn't it seem to you that Gregory was visibly UPSET when he was asking those questions? Did he not seem, perhaps, a little too passionate about those social issues he was bringing up?

Anyway, I decided to check into David Gregory a little bit. And I find it quite odd that in the 221 people that David Gregory "follows" on Twitter, there isn't a single Democrat member of Congress on that list. I find it even odder that Mr. Gregory seems to follow a number of Republicans. In fact, the only two Twitter accounts associated with the Democrat party that Gregory follows are:

* Barack Obama
* Jerry Brown

Now, the Barack Obama twitter he follows is just the campaign one and I figure, since Gregory is a California native, he has an interest in Brown being Governor there.

But let's look at who he follows on the Republican side:

* John Boehner
* Eric Cantor
* John McCain
* John Ensign
* Paul Ryan
* Mike Huckabee

Don't you find it odd that a moderator of one of the biggest Sunday morning shows doesn't follow the Majority leader of the Senate or the minority leader of the House? Don't you find it odd that Gregory wouldn't follow such people as Barney Frank, John Kerry, Chuck Schumer and James Clyburn.

I also wonder about the fact that there are no minorities in the Twitter list of Gregory - is it possible that David Gregory only follows white people? :)

p.s. since David Gregory took up such a flag for the Gay and Lesbian community today on his blindside interview of Michele Bachmann, it's interesting that the only homosexual on Gregory's twitter list is Rachel Maddow (and she's a co-worker).

Scumbag Adam Kokesh and the Growing Infiltration of Propaganda Media's 'Russia Today'

One of the biggest travesties of the 2010 elections was the bid by Adam Kokesh running as a "conservative" candidate for the Republican nomination for the congressional seat from New Mexico. Luckily for all of us, this piece of shit turncoat embarrassment to a military uniform lost that contest. And is often the case when these fakes who run for Congress don't win, we just have to sit back for about a year or so and then watch them show the American people their true colors. Most of us new Kokesh was a sham, a disgrace, a winter's soldier. Well, now Mr. Adam Kokesh works for Russia Today, a Moscow-based media source that is trying to gain ground here in America and to top that, Kokesh got arrested on Memorial Day at the Jefferson Memorial along with his little bitch, Medea Benjamin from Code Pink.

Got that? We have a traitorous Iraqi veteran who ran for Congress (with many Libertarians backing his efforts) who just a year later is protesting America on one of our holiest sights. And people called us crazy for calling this peon out in 2010.

What we are seeing now is more and more Arab and other foreign news agencies joining the fray in American news media ...and what they do is con many people that they are "true" news outlets....yet they are simply propaganda arms for islamists and communists.

Who Is Behind Adam Kokesh and Russia Today Television?


A closer look at the Moscow-funded Russia Today television channel, whose host, American Adam Kokesh, was arrested after a disruption last Saturday at the Jefferson Memorial, reveals some interesting and disturbing corporate and foreign intelligence connections.

As AIM reported, Kokesh, who hosts the show, “Adam Vs. The Man,” joined with pro-Marxist agitator Medea Benjamin to disrupt Memorial Day weekend activities. “I had to spend 4 hours in jail,” whined Kokesh. Now he is threatening to do it again this coming Saturday.

Under pressure from false media reports that Kokesh was just “dancing” and had been unfairly roughed up by police, U.S. Park Police officials are now saying that they are investigating whether officers were “too aggressive” in handling Kokesh and other demonstrators.

As we explained in a column, what happened at the memorial was a deliberately designed provocation, planned in advance by Kokesh, Benjamin, and their comrades. The video shows officers warning them to stop and arresting them when they didn’t. They were arrested because the law prohibits activities that interfere with the solemn atmosphere at the memorials.

A sympathetic profile of Kokesh, a veteran who served in Iraq, gives some of the background necessary to understanding his motivation. It says:

“…in February 2006, two days before he was to be deployed on his second tour, he was told by his commanding officer that he was under investigation for bringing back a pistol he had purchased from an Iraqi policeman. His car had been broken into on campus and the pistol was missing. He was charged with three felonies, but accepted a plea bargain for disturbing the peace —a misdemeanor—and his case was passed along to the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. After an eight-month investigation, he was demoted from sergeant to corporal and given an honorary discharge.”

This incident reportedly played a role in his decision to participate in protests as a member of Iraq Veterans Against the War. His Facebook page when he ran for Congress as a Republican describes him as a Ron Paul supporter and “freedom fighter spreading the message of liberty.”

Subsequently, the article said, a Marine Corps three-person review board found “significant negative” conduct on the part of Kokesh and recommended a “general discharge under honorable conditions” for him.

A website for the group, American Patriots Against Kokesh, which opposed his run for office, accused him of working with several different Marxist groups.

This may be why Russia Today, which regularly features Marxist groups on the air, gave Kokesh a show on its English-language affiliate. RT treats fringe characters such as Gloria La Riva of the Party for Socialism and Liberation as major political figures, even using her to defend Castro’s spies jailed in the U.S.

But Kokesh is just one part of this growing propaganda operation. Russia Today has various “partners” in the media business, including the Huffington Post, which is now part of AOL, and What REALLY Happened, a website that features such stories as “Israel’s Whores in Congress” and “Reflections of Comrade Fidel.” The website mostly features articles about a number of conspiracies, with a focus on the “inside job” theory that the 9/11 terrorist attacks were staged by the U.S. Government.

Other RT “partners” include Izvestia, which was the official publication of the old Soviet regime, and Trud, the mouthpiece for Soviet labor unions.

A partnership with RT means that the channel runs articles from those “news” organizations.

The acquisition of the Huffington Post by AOL produced a media group claiming to reach 117 million Americans and 270 million globally. For its part, Russia Today is one of the foreign networks, along with Al-Jazeera, carried by the American taxpayer-supported MHz Networks, into various U.S. media markets.

But the focus on Kokesh has missed the addition of another American to the line-up. Thom Hartmann, who describes himself as the leading “progressive” radio talk-show host in the U.S., is hosting a show called “The Big Picture” on the Russian channel.

In a defense of its programming, the channel has also pointed out, “Cenk Uygur of the Young Turks was coming on RT long before MSNBC snatched him up to fill a seat in their very own anchor chair.”

The embrace of the channel by the liberal-left, which regularly criticizes Fox News, a private media company in the U.S., is shocking. The relationship demonstrates that the liberal media have no real objection to government sponsorship or funding of media companies, even when the money comes from authoritarian regimes such as Vladimir Putin’s in Russia. But the controversy goes beyond the simple matter of progressives sharing a political ideology with those, including Putin, a former KGB intelligence officer, behind the Russian channel.

“America is enjoying euphoria of victory over Communism in the Cold War, but Russians say the war is still going on,” notes Konstantin Preobrazhensky, a former Soviet KGB officer. He says the channel is serving the interests of the Kremlin, especially its intelligence agencies, by spreading disinformation about Russian intentions in domestic and foreign affairs.

During the Cold War, it was customary for the Soviet intelligence services, led by the KGB, to use American and Western news outlets and personnel in operations against the United States. Preobrazhensky says nothing has really changed, except that Russia Today television is a more overt way of carrying out the aims of the Kremlin.

This is why AIM published the column, “Russian TV Sounds Like Soviet TV.”

It is so overt that RT hired an alleged Russian spy, Katia Zatuliveter, who is in the process of being deported from Britain. Oleg Gordievsky, the KGB’s former London station chief, directly accused the Russian of spying, saying the 25-year-old woman was working undercover for the Russian foreign intelligence, the SVR, and gathered information about British naval bases around the world.

Nevertheless, RT now features her as a “contributor,” where she criticized the West and its “double-standard” on protests and demonstrations. This is the basic Kremlin propaganda line, which is designed to inhibit Americans from criticizing human rights violations in Russia.

RT covered a conference I sponsored at the National Press Club to deal primarily with the influence of Al-Jazeera. A minor focus was Russia Today’s anti-American programming. Out of courtesy, I agreed to be interviewed on camera. But I was not surprised to discover that the finished product, reported by Kaeyln Forde, ignored all of the points I made about the channel’s links to the Russian intelligence service.

Shaun Walker of the British newspaper The Independent has discussed this issue in the context of an article noting that the Russian channel has tried to de-emphasize the connection to Moscow by referring to the channel as RT and not Russia Today. Its programs for the American audience are called “RT America.” Since last year, he points out, anchors and correspondents have been told they must refer to it only as “RT,” never “Russia Today,” which has “led some to wonder what the Russians are up to in the U.S.”

The answer, quite clearly, is to mask the hand of Moscow and its intelligence agencies about what goes on the air.

Walker adds, “There have been suspicions, even among some of those inside the channel, that the aim might be a Kremlin, or even a Russian intelligence plan to stir dissent in the U.S. At the very least, it seems an attempt by Russia to get its own back on a Western world that often lectures Moscow on democracy and human rights, and shine a light on what it sees as the sore points for the US.”

This was the apparent purpose of the provocation launched by Kokesh and Medea Benjamin of Code Pink at the Jefferson Memorial last Saturday. By breaking the law against demonstrations and disorderly conduct at the memorials, they knew they would be arrested and then be able to charge that they were victims of a “police state”—just the sort of propaganda that Moscow wants, in order to divert attention away from the Kremlin’s human rights record. Not surprisingly, RT covered the demonstration extensively.

“Several journalists at the channel have told The Independent that while some coverage of problems in Russia and sensitive issues is allowed, any direct criticism or questioning of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin or President Dmitry Medvedev is strictly prohibited,” Walker reported.

In the September 10, 2010, piece, Walker said, “Even before the recent spy scandal about Russian ‘illegals’ in the United States, western intelligence services have been wary about Russia Today’s correspondents.”

Like Al-Jazeera, RT has hired a number of Western and American faces, many of them attractive females.

RT’s on-air talent includes a number of Americans, including Staci Bivens, a former CNN producer; Lindsay France, formerly with CNN and ABC-TV affiliate KAPP; Lindsay Garfield, formerly with NBC’s “Meet the Press;” and Sean Thomas, who worked for the NBC affiliate, KSEE in Fresno, California.

The bio for Kaelyn Forde, the RT reporter who covered my conference, notes that she “comes to RT from Spanish-language news network teleSUR.” The bio fails to disclose that teleSUR was launched by Marxist Hugo Chavez of Venezuela.

The bio goes on: “Kaelyn’s interests include investigative and multimedia reporting. In 2009, she produced a full-length investigative documentary, Detrás del Golpe (Behind the Coup), which unmasked the architects of the 2009 Honduran coup d’état and how it was subsequently legitimized in Washington.”

This was, of course, the Hugo Chavez line. Chavez wanted the world to believe that the overthrow of his ally, Manuel “Mel” Zelaya, was a dangerous military coup. In fact, elements of the Honduras government directed the military to oust him from power after he committed illegal and unconstitutional acts.

Rep. Connie Mack noted that teleSUR signed agreements with Al-Jazeera, thereby “creating a global television network for terrorists and other enemies of freedom.”

A “journalist” from teleSUR would seem to be a natural fit for Russia Today television.

Exhibiting some of the provocative behavior that Kokesh would demonstrate at the Jefferson Memorial last Saturday, Forde was arrested by police last November as she was “covering” a leftist demonstration against the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, where members of foreign militaries are trained by U.S. forces. The institute, once known as the Schools of the Americas, has been a long-time target of Marxist forces. An entire organization, SOA Watch, is devoted to trying to close it down.

Forde, insisting she was a member of the press, was nevertheless charged with unlawful assembly, demonstrating without a permit and failing to obey a police order to disperse.

RT said it paid a fine to have Forde, whose real name is Kaelyn Forde Eckenrode, and a cameraman, Jonathan R. Conway, who was also arrested, freed from jail. A newspaper account said, “Eckenrode was arrested in front of the gas station after a tense exchange with a police officer who told her to leave.”

Columbus (Georgia) Solicitor General Ben Richardson was quoted as saying, “She does comply with police officers, but she does it after some time. The question was whether that constituted reasonable substantial compliance to police. We see why they arrested her, but we have a bigger burden of reasonable doubt.” Hence, charges were ultimately dropped.

It has been quite a road for Forde, whose “Linked in” profile says that she started out at NBC News, where she “tackled the tough logistics of newsgathering for NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams, The Today Show and MSNBC.”
