Russian Operations In Chechnya Kill 11 Muslim Terrorists Including 2 Islamic Caucasus Emirate Leaders

It's been awhile since the Russians have put this kind of hurt on Chechen Muslim terrorists but the latest operation netted two high ranking Islamic Caucasus Emirate leaders among a total of 11 dead jihadis.


I rarely cheer for the Russians but when they kill off these scumbags, I'm there waving the "Go Russia" banner.

2 Islamic Caucasus Emirate leaders reported killed in Chechnya


Russia Today reported that Khuseyn (or Hussein) and Muslim Gakayev, two senior leaders in the Islamic Caucasus Emirate, were among 11 terrorists killed during a Russian military operation in Chechnya:

Two men, wanted for at least 5 terrorist acts, have been killed in a special forces operation in Chechnya. The Gakayev brothers were deemed more dangerous than militant Doku Umarov, by Chechen leader, Ramzan Kadyrov.

The two brothers, Khuseyn and Muslim Gakayev, are said to be responsible for the deaths of many law enforcers and civilians and were on Russia's wanted list for 11 years. The pair were killed during an operation on Thursday in the Vedeno district, one of the regions hardest hit by fighting in the area.

"Two Gakayev brothers, were on the federal wanted list for involvement in the terrorist acts and the murders of law enforcers and civilian" the press center of the Russian Interior Ministry told the media.

Ramzan Kadyrov, President of the Russian Republic of Chechnya, noted that the two men were more dangerous than terrorist at large Doku Umarov. Umarov has been linked to a spate of deadly terrorist attacks targeting Russian civilians...

The Gakayev brothers made several high-profile attacks, most recently a suicide bomb attack on an interior ministry vehicle that killed four last August. They were also blamed for an attack on the Chechen parliament in 2010 that killed at least six people, and an assassination attempt at the residence of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov. After this, Kadyrov announced a reward for information on their activities.

While the Islamic Caucasus Emirate has not confirmed the deaths of the Gakayev brothers, Kavkaz Center, a mouthpiece of the terror group, confirmed that "heavy fighting is taking place in the mountains of Vedeno district " in Chechnya, and said Russia forces "have surrounded a group of Mujahideen by the will of Allah."

The nature of the statement at Kavkaz indicates that important leaders were present in Vedeno:

Killed and wounded are reported among the Mujahideen. The exact number is not known. The situation for the Mujahideen is serious, but invaders and puppets also incurred losses. More 15 enemies of Allah have been reported eliminated and wounded.

We ask all Muslims to do prayers for the Mujahideen. Ask your children, as well as patients from friends and relatives to do prayer, as Allah answers the prayer of the Muslims of this category.

Your tahajjud (night prayer) prayers would be very helpful. It is hard time for the Mujahideen and they in need of prayers of the Muslims, who, Allah's willing, will find their words of help for the Mujahideen on the balance of the Judgment Day!

Khuseyn Gakayev is one of several senior leaders who attempted to oust Doku Umarov as the Caucasus Emirate's emir in the summer of 2010. Umarov reconciled with Khuseyn in July 2011, and named Khuseyn the deputy commander of the eastern front [see LWJ report, Internal divisions resolved, claims Caucasus Emirate].

Islamic Suicide Bombers Strike Twice In Chechnya, 7 Killed (mostly police officers)

The islamic terrorists in Chechnya have struck once again ... this time in dual suicide bombings that have left at least seven dead and most of the seven are Chechen police officers.

At least seven people, mainly police officers, were killed and 18 injured in two suicide bomb blasts in the Chechen capital Grozny on Tuesday, Chechnya's strongman leader Ramzan Kadyrov said.

The Russian Interfax news agency quoted Kadyrov as saying that "five police officers, an official of the emergency situations ministry and a civilian" were killed in the twin attacks, while the 18 injured were hospitalised.

There is no question that the level of islamic terror in and around Russia had spiked considerably over the past year and as I have pointed out before here, even though leaders like Putin talk big and talk tough, we simply are not seeing any kind of serious pushback by Russian security forces.

What seems so incredible about the world of islamic terror is how uniform the attack strategy seems to be - one of the hallmarks of al Qaeda has always been the fact that their number one target has always been police and security forces and here we see Chechen terrorists, who resemble nothing of the ethnicity of their Arab cohorts performing terror attacks almost identical to those of their "brothers" to the south.

Russian Security Forces Kill Top Al Qaeda Envoy To the Islamic Caucasus Emirate

This is a BIG hit for the jihadis in Chechnya as a very seasoned al Qaeda operative who has served with the Islamic Caucasus Emirate in Chechnya for years was killed in a raid by Russian security forces in Chechnya yesterday. This guy, known as Muhannad, has been into the jihadi business all over the world and as the Russians note, he's been involved in nearly every terror attack in Russia in the past 10 years.

The senior leaders of the Islamic Battalion include al Qaeda commander Ibn al Khattab (killed in 2002); Abu al Walid (killed in 2004); and Abu Hafs al Urduni (killed in 2006). Muhannad was appointed the commander of the International Islamic Battalion after Urduni's death. In that role, he served as a key link to al Qaeda's central command.

Muhannad also served as the "Deputy Military Emir" of terrorist forces in Chechnya, according to Kavkaz. As the deputy military emir in Chechnya, he also commanded local Chechen forces.

Russian officials told CNN that Muhannad was "directly involved in virtually every suicide terrorist attack committed in the Russian Federation over the past few years."

It's good to see the Russians being so proactive inside of Chechnya but then again, they almost have to be nowadays as the forces of the Islamic Caucasus Emirate have been raising all kinds of terroristic hell across Russia. We saw a recent raid by the Russians that came very close to getting the top dog in the ICE.

I'm guessing that you will see a retaliatory strike by the Muslim terrorists within the next week - it might not be a huge one but one that will show they are still alive and at it.

Muhannad was one of two commanders led a group of Islamic Caucasus Emirate fighters during the Aug. 29, 2010 assault on the village of Tsentoroi, the birthplace of Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov. Police ultimately defeated the assault after several hours of heavy fighting. Twelve fighters and five policemen were killed during the clash.

In the summer of 2010, Muhannad was the center of a controversy surrounding the resignation of Doku Umarov, the emir or leader of the Islamic Caucasus Emirate. Muhannad and three other commanders are said to have pressured Umarov to resign, but Umarov later retracted his resignation.

Umarov accused Muhannad of being "the main organizer of fitna (split/discord) among the Mujahideen in the Province of Nokhchicho (AKA Chechnya / Ichkeria)" and called for him to re-affirm his allegiance. Umarov is said to have relieved Muhannad from command, but the Arab fighter continued to fight in Chechnya.

Muhannad is the second senior leader of the Islamic Caucasus Emirate killed by Russian forces in the past month. On March 28, Russian commandos killed Emir Supyan, the deputy emir of the Islamic Caucasus Emirate.

Chechen Women Shot With Paintball Guns For Not Wearing Head Scarves

Oh yeah, Islam at its finest...Chechen security forces drive around the cities and villages until they spot any women who aren't properly covering their heads with head scarves, then stop their trucks, get out, and blast the women with paintball guns. Allahu Ackbar, right?

"The enforcement of a compulsory Islamic dress code on women in Chechnya violates their rights to private life, personal autonomy, freedom of expression, and freedom of religion, thought, and conscience," the report said.

"It is also a form of gender-based discrimination prohibited under international treaties to which Russia is a party."

I'm sure the Chechens will abandon this immediately now that Human Rights Watch has issued this scathing indictment. hahahaha. Yeah, I needed a good laugh today.

I'm actually surprised that a human rights organization would even pay attention to what is going on in Chechnya - the fact of the matter is that the treatment of women under Islam has been ignored by every women's group in America as well as any of the activist organizations. A businessman who looks twice at a woman in an American office is slapped with a harassment suit and a boycott from NOW but a 15 year old girl who is held down and has her clitoris chopped off with a hand axe is ignored. Explain that to me. Explain to me why the anti-religious Left in America gives the so-called religion of Islam a pass.

Kadyrov rules with the support of Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, who has counted on him to stabilize the mostly Muslim region in southern Russia after two separatist wars in the last 16 years. Russian authorities have turned a blind eye to the treatment of women and other rights abuses in Chechnya.

Human Rights Watch interviewed dozens of women who have experienced or witnessed attacks or harassment for their refusal to adhere to the Islamic dress code.

One of the victims, identified as Louiza, told the rights group that she and a friend were attacked while walking down Putin Avenue in Grozny on a hot day last June, wearing skirts a little below the knee, blouses with sleeves a bit above the elbow and no headscarves. Suddenly a car without a license plate pulled up, its side window rolled down and a gun barrel pointed at them.

"I thought the gun was real and when I heard the shots I thought: 'This is death,'" she recalled in the report. "I felt something hitting me in the chest and was sort of thrown against the wall of a building.

"The sting was awful, as if my breasts were being pierced with a red-hot needle, but I wasn't fainting or anything and suddenly noticed some strange green splattering on the wall and this huge green stain was also expanding on my blouse."

The 25-year-old woman said her friend was hit on her legs and stumbled to the ground. Men dressed in the black uniform of Kadyrov's security forces looked out of the car's windows, laughing and sneering.

"It's only at home that I could examine the bruise and it was so huge and ugly," Louiza recalled. "Since then, I don't dare leave home without a headscarf."

Another target, a 29-year-old woman whose name was not given, said she was walking down the same central avenue in June with two other women, all without headscarves, when two cars stopped nearby and bearded men in black uniforms fired paintball guns at them, screaming: "Cover your hair, harlots!"

The woman told Human Rights Watch that she knows 12 women who were shot at with paintball guns in June. Overall, at least 50 or 60 women were targeted, the rights group said.

Threatening leaflets also appeared on the streets of Grozny, warning women that those who fail to wear headscarves could face "more persuasive measures." The women interviewed by Human Rights Watch interpreted that as a threat to use real weapons.

Kadyrov's security force has been blamed by rights activists for abductions, torture and extrajudicial killings in Chechnya.

In July 2009, the director of the Chechen office of Russia's Memorial rights group, was abducted near her home in Grozny and found shot to death along a roadside a few hours later. Natalya Estemirova had publicly criticized the Islamic dress campaign as a violation of Russian law, angering Kadyrov who had threatened her with repercussions.

A few weeks after the paintball shootings, Kadyrov told local television that he was ready to give awards to the men who carried out the attacks and that the targeted women deserved the treatment. There was no response from the federal authorities.

The paintball attacks ended in mid-June, having achieving Kadyrov's objective. The majority of women are now too scared to enter the center of Grozny without headscarves or dare to complain against the "virtue campaign."

At Chechen State University in Grozny this week, all females students wore headscarves and, toeing the official line, defended the practice as part of local tradition and a sign of respect for Islam.

"The headscarf is part of our religion, part of our faith," said Seda Sabarova, 18.

Kadyrov also scoffed at criticism of his effort to enforce an Islamic dress code, telling foreign reporters that headscarves make women beautiful.

Muslim Terrorists Seize Parliament In Chechnya, Security Forces Strike Back and Free Hostages, Kill Jihadis

Whoa! The Chechen government dodged a huge bullet on this one as four islamic terrorists stormed the parliamentary building and for a brief time, took members of the Chechnya parliament hostage. I'm sure visions of Beslan flooded into the minds of many at that point. Chechen security forces responded back and were able to kill all four of the insurgents - although reports are that at least two of the four died due to detonating suicide belts.

“We heard shots in the courtyard and we knew they were trying to take us hostage. We managed to take refuge on the third floor where we stayed until the end of the operation,” a spokesman for the Chechen parliament Zelim Yakhikhanov told AFP.

Chechnya's leader Ramzan Kadyrov told the Interfax news agency that Chechen security forces staged an intense 20-minute operation to kill the militants and free the parliament deputies and employees from the building.

“All deputies are alive and were taken from the territory of the parliament building to safety,” Kadyrov said.

Most of the regular readers here at Holger Awakens know that I have tried to keep up on the islamic terror trends in Russia and in Chechnya and it indeed has been pitched over the past year. This latest, brazen attack in Chechnya is a grim reminder of just how vulnerable even government officials are in this area and just how persistent the islamists are.

This could have been disastrous and I think the lucky thing for the parliament members was the fact that the attack force was only 4 jihadis - if that had been more like a dozen, they probably could have pulled off something more similar to Beslan.

According to the investigative committee of prosecutors, 17 people were wounded in the incident.

Interfax said parliamentary speaker Dukuvakha Abdurakhmanov had been evacuated from the parliament building in an armoured vehicle and had not been hurt.

Russian Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev, by coincidence on a trip to Grozny, described the operation by the security forces to free the deputies as a success.

“The Chechen interior ministry acted professionally and competently. This meant that the operation was carried out successfully,” he added.

The special operation was personally led by Kadyrov, Interfax quoted a security source as saying.

The Kremlin has been fighting separatist insurgents in the Northern Caucasus since after the collapse of the Soviet Union and waged a war in 1994-1996 against separatist militants in Chechnya.

However, after a second war broke out in Chechnya in 1999, the rebellion's inspiration moved towards Islam with the aim of imposing an Islamic state in the region.

Russia in April 2009 ended a decade long “counter-terror” operation that had been in place for a decade in Chechnya, a move seen by some analysts as premature.

Chechnya has in the past years seen a relative improvement in security under its strongman leader, Kadyrov, although attacks remain a common occurrence.

But Kadyrov, himself an ex-militant, has been heavily criticised for his tough tactics by rights groups, who accuse him of torture and using his own personal forces to crack down on critics.

Russia remains on high alert for militant attacks after the double bombings carried out by two female suicide bombers on the Moscow metro on March 29 killed 40 and wounded more than 100.

Over 330 people were killed in Russia's most shocking hostage tragedy in 2004 when Chechen militants stormed a school in the town of Beslan in the Northern Caucasus region of North Ossetia.

Russian Military Kills 20 Jihadists In Chechnya

The jihad in Chechnya and the North Caucasus region of Russia is still ramped up and apparently the Russian military has decided to meet force with force as the report here at Breitbart reveals an offensive that killed 20 Chechnyan jihadists Friday.

The significance of this is that the Russian-backed Chechnyan government has been trying to avoid responding militarily but as you will see in the report below, they simply cannot anymore. The jihadis are on a terror binge and the Russians are going to get sucked back into the never ending military operations trying to rid the area of the rebel jihadis.

In one other incident, I want to point out something about islamic jihadis...the fact that their behavior and tactics don't seem to alter no matter if they are in an Arabian peninsula, an Iraqi desert, a Persian valley or on a mountain range in Russia. Look at this:

In Dagestan, east of Chechnya, a bomb blast at a village cemetery killed three civilians—the widow, sister and daughter of a police officer who was among the victims of nearly daily attacks on law enforcement authorities in the province, regional Interior Ministry spokesman Mark Tolchinsky said. Authorities believe the attack was the work of Islamic militants, he said.

See? We have seen those cemetary attacks performed by al Qaeda in Iraq and we have seen the same done by jihadis in Pakistan.

Russian says troops kill 20 militants in Chechnya

ROSTOV-ON-DON, Russia (AP) - Government forces have killed more than 20 militants in Chechnya, and a bomb blast at a cemetery in a neighboring province killed three relatives visiting the grave of a police officer slain by insurgents, law enforcement authorities said.
Chechnya's Kremlin-backed president said it was possible Chechen rebel leader Doku Umarov was among those killed Friday in the fighting in the province's southern mountains. President Ramzan Kadyrov said one of the dead was identified as a comrade who has often been at Umarov's side, according to his office, but he cited no other evidence and said forensics experts would seek to identify other victims.

Chechen Interior Minister Magomed Deniyev said there were no casualties among government forces in the fighting. The reported toll was unusually high, but it comes amid an upsurge of violence in mostly Muslim Chechnya nearly a decade after Russian forces drove an independence-minded regional government from power in the second of two devastating separatist wars.
Neighboring provinces in Russia's volatile North Caucasus are also plagued by violence, and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev singled out the region as a source of serious concern in his state of the nation speech Tuesday.

Police in the North Caucasus frequently report such scenarios, and the account could not be independently verified.

Islamists In Chechnya Set Off Two Bombs, Kill One Policeman

In traditional al Qaeda style, Chechnyan islamic terrorists set off a bomb in the capital of Chechnya and when police forces arrived on the scene, set off a second bomb that killed one policeman and wounded a number of others.

It's all just a reminder to the Russians and others in the region - submit to Islam or die. Perhaps Barack Hussein Obama needs to make another Cairo speech?

GROZNY (Reuters) - A policeman was killed in a bomb attack in the Chechen capital Grozny late on Friday that also injured 14 people, a local law enforcement official said.
The deadly explosion, at about 10:30 p.m. (1830 GMT), was detonated by remote control about 10 minutes after police and civilians gathered at the site of another blast.
"Three of the injured were civilians. The rest were policemen," Maryam Nalaeyeva, an official in the local prosecutor's office, told Reuters early on Saturday.
A surge in bombings and shootings in Chechnya and the neighbouring territories of Dagestan and Ingushetia has raised questions about the Kremlin's ability to keep control of the mainly Muslim region.
Analysts see a danger of the area descending into open civil war, fuelled by Islamist militancy, clan rivalries, corruption, poverty and brutal law enforcement.

Female Suicide Bomber Injures Six In Chechnya, Kills Herself

Well, the hits just keep coming in the Russian North Caucasus region as Chechnya witnessed yet another islamic terror attack today - a woman, a suicide bomber set off her suicide vest as she stood next to a police car - the blast killed her and injured six.

A suicide bomber blew herself up beside a police car in the capital of Russia's southern region of Chechnya on Wednesday, wounding six people.

A series of attacks by Islamist militants on security forces and local leaders over recent months has shattered several years of relative calm and raised questions about Kremlin control of the north Caucasus region.

I've been putting up these terror reports from the North Caucasus area to demonstrate a coordinated terror attack on all of Russia - we can barely go a week without an islamist attack and those are only the reported ones. The point of all of this is that the islamists worldwide are conducting terror and it is touching the lives of every continent, every country - we see it daily in Pakistan and Afghanistan and also in Africa's Somalia and Algeria...but we are seeing it in Australia, Britain, America and South America. And it is spreading.

GROZNY, Russia (Reuters) - A suicide bomber blew herself up beside a police car in the capital of Russia's southern region of Chechnya on Wednesday, wounding six people.
Russia has fought two wars against Chechen separatists since the early 1990s. A series of attacks by Islamist militants on security forces and local leaders over recent months has shattered several years of relative calm and raised questions about Kremlin control of the north Caucasus region.
Russian news agencies carried conflicting reports on the number of people who suffered in the blast, but local officials said there were no fatalities.
"I officially declare there were no victims in the explosion," Chechen Interior Minister Ruslan Alkhanov said at the scene of the blast. "Two Chechen policemen and four civilians were wounded."
An eyewitness told Reuters a young woman had approached the police car and blew herself up. Others said there had been three policemen in the car at the moment of the explosion.
Interfax news agency said the woman's head had been found.
A mangled, burned-out carcass was all that remained of the police car at an intersection in Grozny's usually bustling center, a Reuters reporter said.
A passenger minibus with shattered windows was seen nearby.
Leaders from across the North Caucasus warned Russian President Dmitry Medvedev last month that they were struggling to contain an Islamic insurgency they said had permeated all spheres of society.

Suicide Bombers Kill 4 Police Officers in Chechnya

MOSCOW — Suicide bombers on bicycles killed at least four police officers in separate attacks in Chechnya’s capital on Friday, officials said, capping off a week of violence in Russia’s North Caucasus region that has left dozens of people dead, most of them law enforcement officials.

At least two bombers approached police officials in different parts of Grozny, the capital, and detonated their charges in what appeared to be coordinated attacks, the investigative wing of the Prosecutor General’s Office said in a statement.
Friday’s attacks come just days after a suicide truck bombing at a police headquarters in Ingushetia, a neighboring North Caucasus republic. The blast killed at least 25 people and wounded around 280, according to the most recent government figures, the Interfax news agency reported. In Ingushetia on Friday, a police officer was shot to death in his car.
After a lull in recent years, violence has grown more frequent in the North Caucasus, particularly in Chechnya, where federal forces fought two bloody wars to subdue a potent separatist movement. The bloodshed has spiked this summer, with almost daily attacks on police and government officials.
The constant killing has undermined the government’s once rosy depictions of the situation in the North Caucasus, a recalcitrant, predominantly Muslim region in Russia’s south. Now, even among top officials, there appears to be an increasing sense of unease.
“A short time ago, there was a growing impression that the situation in the Caucasus as regards terrorism, had substantially improved,” President Dmitri A. Medvedev of Russia said at a meeting of top law enforcement officials on Wednesday. “Unfortunately, recent events have shown that this is not so. If our work stops, we will begin to see more serious incidents.”
A spate of deadly suicide bombings, often carried out by the wives of dead Chechen fighters, gripped Chechnya and other parts of Russia, including Moscow, during the height of the second war in Chechnya five or six years ago. There was no immediate evidence that Friday’s bombers were women, and until recently the tactic had all but disappeared.
Then in late July, a suicide attack in Grozny killed six people, including four police officers who tried to stop the bomber from entering a theater.
Also on Friday, a Russian jihadist group said in a letter posted to a Chechen separatist Web site that it had used an antitank grenade to cause an accident at the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric plant in Siberia on Monday. At least 30 people died in the accident, and some 45 are still missing.
The Russian government has dismissed the claims, saying that no evidence of explosives has been found at the accident site.

Many dead in fresh Caucasus clashes


At least four policemen and two gunmen have been killed in a gun battle in Chechnya, in the latest sign that violence in Russia's Caucasus region is escalating.
Chechnya's interior ministry said security forces battled with two gunmen in Kerla-Yurt, northwest of Grozny, the capital, on Friday, killing at least four officers and injuring four others.
The killings come a day after seven prostitutes were shot dead by fighters in a bath house in neighbouring Dagestan, and four policemen were killed by separatists at a nearby checkpoint.
Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian president, said on Friday that the violence and the recent murders of human rights activists working in the north Caucasus were "political" and aimed at destabilising the region.
Five other security force officers were also injured in a separate clash in Chechnya on Thursday, Russia's Interfax news agency reported.

Speaking after talks with Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, in the Russian city of Sochi, Medvedev said: "A whole series of political murders and attempted murders are aimed at destabilising the situation in the Caucasus."
Yunus-Bek Yevkurov, the president of the southern Russian republic of Ingushetia, survived an assassination attempt when a car bomb was detonated next to his convoy in the capital Nazran on June 22.
Referring to the attack in his remarks, Medvedev said: "I mean the murders of our rights defenders, I mean the attempted murder on the new president of Ingushetia."
The president said unspecified armed groups in the Caucasus were receiving support from "foreign sources" that he did not name.
He also called on Ramzan Kadyrov, the Moscow-backed Chechen leader, to find those responsible for the latest killings in the region.
"The president of Chechnya must do everything in his power to find and unmask these killers," he said.
Rising violence
Police blamed the bath house attack on groups who target women deemed to violate the moral standards of Islam and local clan codes.
They said Thursday's massacre, in the city of Buinaksk, was a deliberate attack on prostitutes.
The lastest killings are the most recent incidents in a sharp upturn in violence across the region.

On Wednesday, a construction industry minister in Dagestan was shot dead in his heavily-guarded office.
Three human rights activists have also been killed in Chechnya in the past month, while the body of a local journalist in Dagestan was found earlier this week.
Zarema Sadulayeva, a Chechen woman who helped maimed children, and her husband were kidnapped and killed earlier this week.
Last month Natalia Estemirova, a prominent activist for the rights group Memorial, was abducted and killed. Memorial and other human rights organisations have suspended their operations in the region as a result of the attacks.
Kremlin undermined
The rising violence throughout Russia's North Caucasus is undermining the Kremlin's claims to be enforcing effective law and order in the region.
While large-scale fighting from the two wars that ravaged Chechnya since 1994 has ended, rebel fighters continue to mount hit-and-run attacks and skirmishes with Russian and Chechen security forces.
Bloodshed has surged in recent months and increasingly spilled into Chehnya's neighbours.
"Certainly, what is happening now is being heated up from the outside, beyond the Russian borders," Ali Magomedov, Dagestan's interior minister, was quoted as telling Interfax.
"There can be no other explanation. Dagestani people do not need to kill one another."
Merkel condemned the slaying of Sadulayeva and her husband as "absolutely unacceptable".

Islamic Terrorists Rain Death Down On Police, Air Rescue Team In Chechnya, Ingushetia

The Russian republics of Chechnya and Ingushetia continue to see the bloody rage of islamic terrorists as Sunday night saw five police officers in Chechnya killed in an attack on a police convoy and the same night, in the neighboring republic of Ingushetia, three air rescue workers were killed by the terrorists. That's 8 dead in one night in very detailed and well-planned ambushes. And the Russians, as I have said before, are in for 100 times this kind of violence as it spreads from province to province. This is not unlike what we have seen as islamic terror has spread across northern Africa - the islamists start in one country or one republic or one province and then, like a cancer, it spreads.

I realize that the terror in the Caucasus region of Russia pales in physical death numbers to what islamic terror is doing in Pakistan/Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen and north Africa but I have decided to showcase it here when it happens because I firmly believe that the Russians are in for a major islamic push in the next year - an islamic assault that will mirror that of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Gunmen Kill 5 Police Officers in Chechnya

MOSCOW — Gunmen attacked a police convoy in the Russian republic of Chechnya on Sunday evening, killing at least five officers and wounding four others, investigators said Monday.
Maryam Nalayeva, a spokeswoman for the investigative wing of the Prosecutor General’s Office in Chechnya, said the attackers used grenade launchers and automatic weapons. The attack occurred exactly one week after a suicide bomber killed at least six people outside a theater in Chechnya’s capital, Grozny, underscoring the enduring potency of an insurgency that Russia’s leaders have claimed is all but defeated.
A brutal counterinsurgency campaign by the authorities in Chechnya has steadily ground down the last vestiges of a rebel movement born of two bloody wars in the North Caucasus that left tens of thousands dead.
In a victory for Chechnya’s Kremlin-backed president, Ramzan A. Kadyrov, Chechnya’s government recently reached an agreement with Akhmed Zakayev, an exiled separatist leader, to end attacks on law enforcement in the republic.
But the continued bloodshed shows the difficulties the authorities face in reining in the remaining militants, in part because the violence has extended beyond Chechnya’s borders into nearby republics.
In neighboring Ingushetia on Sunday, militants killed three workers from the republic’s air rescue service, the prosecutor general’s office said.

Her colleagues have accused Mr. Kadyrov of involvement in her killing, charges that the Chechen president denies.

'Five dead' in suicide bombing in Grozny


Five people were killed Sunday in a suicide bomb attack in the centre of the Chechen capital Grozny, the Interfax and Itar-TASS news agencies reported, citing local authorities.
The blast occurred at around 5:00 pm (1300 GMT) in front of a concert hall.
"Among the victims were several police officers, who according to initial reports stopped the suicide bomber from entering the venue," Itar-TASS quoted a source in the local security forces as saying.
At least 10 people were wounded, the source said, while Interfax reported that the dead comprised three police officers, a civilian and the suicide bomber.

No folks...this wasn't a suicide bombing in Mosul or Kabul or even the Swat Valley - this was a classical islamic jihadi suicide bombing in Chechnya, actually in the Chechen city of Grozny. And it highlights just how the radical islamists in Chechnya aren't exactly ready to assimilate into Chechen society and start selling rugs and falafel. Boy, that really is a big mystery, isn't it?!! Let's see...do you think it was a Russian national who became despondent? Oh wait, maybe it was a Polish immigrant upset about the economy! Or do you suppose it was an islamic terrorist operating from a cell in the city hellbent on showing how they will still try to tear Chechnya apart? Who do YOU think it was?

Russia, Chechnya...hell the whole region is lousy with muslims as Chechnya is now seeing muslims in the majority and with that comes the price to pay - you'll always have the extremists like this guy who will be blowing people and property up and the moderates who fund them and secretly back them. The Russians and Chechens have to realize that the World Caliphate has the same designs on their area as it does on the West.

Analysts have warned that despite the end of the counter-terrorist operation, predominantly Muslim Chechnya still faced problems from Islamic militancy.
Low-level insurgencies are also still continuing in neighbouring regions of Ingushetia and Dagestan.
Two policemen and one local Chechnya resident were killed in an explosion earlier this week near the village of Belgata in southern Chechnya, underscoring continuing tensions in the region.
But a suicide bombing in broad daylight in the centre of Grozny -- which has been rebuilt as a symbol of Chechnya's recovery after two devastating wars -- represents a major blow to hopes that full stability has returned.
Russia fought two full-scale wars with separatist forces in Chechnya after the collapse of the Soviet Union, but the situation had stabilised in recent years under the pro-Moscow Kadyrov.
Kadyrov had long called for the elimination of the anti-terror decree to allow Chechnya to establish its own customs system which would permit Grozny airport to receive international flights.
The Chechen leader, himself an ex-rebel, has been heavily criticised for his strongman tactics by rights groups, who accuse him of torture and using his own personal forces to crack down on critics.
He has also won attention for eccentric behaviour which includes maintaining his own private zoo in Grozny containing tigers, leopards, bears and panthers.

21 Dead In Russian Battles With Islamic Jihadists

Good old Chechnya...the land of the islamists continues to spotlight Russia's growing jihad problem with the neighboring area of Dagestan now joining in the party. The latest battles have claimed 21 dead with five of those being Russian security police. Here's some of the details from Reuters of what had gone on for several days:

At least four militants died overnight in the mainly Muslim region neighboring Chechnya, which has a tradition of rebellion against rule from Moscow.
Five policemen were killed since clashes started on Thursday and 12 other rebels were killed outside the regional capital of Makhachkala.
The internal ministry and the local FSB state security service said they were aiming to eliminate a band of militants operating 30 km (19 miles) south of Makhachkala.

And here's the part of the report that has to have Russian officials shitting their britches:

There are at least three non-Russians with Arab nationality amongst the dead militants, perhaps even four," he added.

See that? Arab jihadists fighting jihad inside of Russia. Who would have seen that two years ago? Let's face it..we have Russian Chechens fighting the U.S. and NATO down in Afghanistan alongside Afghan Taliban and Arab al Qaeda and now, the Arabs are joing in the jihad in Russia. We've known for a long time that Russia has a big muslim problem - the population is soaring there of the islamists while the Russian people can't make a baby to save their souls.

But let's take a look at some of the countries that jihad has now spread to that we would never have pictured it, say five years ago: Russia, China, Turkey, Britain, United States, Australia, etc. Believe me the list could go on and on. The Russians don't piss around with terrorists - they aren't exactly known for their tight rules of engagement and civilian casualties are not a big deal to them, but even with that, they have their hands full.

Armed clashes kill 21 in Russia's Dagestan

Russian security forces in the southern region of Dagestan on Saturday said they had ended an operation against militants after three days of clashes in which they said 21 people were killed.
At least four militants died overnight in the mainly Muslim region neighboring Chechnya, which has a tradition of rebellion against rule from Moscow.
Five policemen were killed since clashes started on Thursday and 12 other rebels were killed outside the regional capital of Makhachkala.
The internal ministry and the local FSB state security service said they were aiming to eliminate a band of militants operating 30 km (19 miles) south of Makhachkala.
It appeared to be the biggest such security operation in the North Caucasus for several months.
"The group committed several crimes in two regions in Dagestan," the province's Interior Minister Adilgirei Magomedtagirov told reporters.
"There are at least three non-Russians with Arab nationality amongst the dead militants, perhaps even four," he added.
State-owned Vesti-24 channel showed a row of dead rebels lying in the snow with Kalashnikov rifles slung across their limp shoulders.
Magomedtagirov said a collection of Kalashnikov rifles, machine guns and a sniper rifle were found where the militants were hiding.
Earlier, television showed helicopter gunships firing from the snowy skies at targets in a forest and armored vehicles rolling into the mountainous area.
The bodies of four militants who died overnight were shown lying among shattered glass near a battered, white Lada car.
Dagestan, with a population of more than 2.5 million, is wedged between Chechnya and the Caspian Sea.

Chechen Leader Imposes Strictest of Sharia Law, Justifies Honor Killings

The 32-year-old former militia leader is carrying out a campaign to impose Islamic values and strengthen the traditional customs of predominantly Muslim Chechnya, in an effort to blunt the appeal of hardline Islamic separatists and shore up his power. In doing so, critics say, he is setting up a dictatorship where Russian laws do not apply.

Oh, and we don't want to forget to point out the leader's overall view of women:

Kadyrov describes women as the property of their husbands and says their main role is to bear children. He encourages men to take more than one wife, even though polygamy is illegal in Russia. Women and girls are now required to wear headscarves in all schools, universities and government offices.

I guess all I can say to the women of the world is this....count your lucky stars you don't live in Chechnya! I don't know about you but I'd love to see a cage match between this joker and Hugo Chavez someday - we could bill it as " Clash of the Titan Dictators " ! Something tells me we haven't seen the last bloody days of violence in Chechnya.

Few dare to challenge Kadyrov's rule in this southern Russian region of more than a million people, which is only now emerging from the devastation of two wars in the past 15 years. The fighting between Islamic separatists and Russian troops, compounded by atrocities on both sides, claimed tens of thousands of lives and terrorized civilians.

Some Chechen women say they support or at least accept Kadyrov's strict new guidelines.
"Headscarves make a woman beautiful," said Zulikhan Nakayeva, a medical student whose long dark hair flowed out from under her head covering, her big brown eyes accentuated by mascara.
But many chafe under the restrictions.
"How do women live in Chechnya? They live as the men say," said Taisiya, 20, who asked that her last name not be used for fear of retribution. She was not wearing a headscarf while shopping in central Grozny, which she said was her way of protesting.
Most women now wear headscarves in public, though the scarves rarely fully cover their hair and in some cases are little more than colorful silk headbands. Women who go out without a headscarf tend to tuck one into their bag for use where headscarves are required.
