North Carolina man pleads guilty to conspiring with Islamic State recruiter

Justin Nojan Sullivan, a 20-year-old man from Morganton, North Carolina, pleaded guilty to terrorism charges today after admitting that he had conspired online with Junaid Hussain, who was one of the Islamic State’s key digital operatives.

Hussain was killed in an American airstrike in Raqqa, Syria on Aug. 24, 2015. But his virtual fingerprints continue to be uncovered, as Hussain has been tied to a number of Islamic State supporters in both the US and UK.

Sullivan (seen on the right) was arrested in June 2015, just over two months before Hussain was killed.

“Sullivan was in contact and plotted with now-deceased Syria-based terrorist Junaid Hussain to execute acts of mass violence in the United States in the name of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL),” Acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security Mary B. McCord said in a statement.

“Sullivan admitted in court today that he attempted to commit acts of terrorism transcending national boundaries by planning mass casualty shooting attacks on behalf of ISIL against innocent people in North Carolina and Virginia,” US Attorney Jill Westmoreland Rose of the Western District of North Carolina added. “Sullivan also admitted he had frequent and direct communications with Junaid Hussain, one of ISIL’s prominent members in Syria, who asked Sullivan to make a video of the deadly attack.” Sullivan agreed to make the video.

US Attorney Rose said it was “frightening to know that” Sullivan “was able to use social media to contact and seek advice from ISIL, a murderous organization.”

The FBI pieced together the details of Sullivan’s and Hussain’s communications, which began “no later” than June 7, 2015.

Sullivan was also intercepted online by an undercover FBI employee (UCE), to whom he divulged the details of his plotting. Sullivan told the UCE that he planned to attack a “concert, bar or club, where he believed as many as 1,000 people would be killed using” an “assault rifle and silencer.” Such a casualty count seems highly improbable, but clearly reflects his murderous intentions.

Sullivan and Hussain “conspired” to “plan mass shooting attacks in North Carolina and Virginia,” with Sullivan intending “to kill hundreds of innocent people.”

The FBI found that Sullivan began to watch and collect Islamic State propaganda, including beheading videos, “no later than” Sept. 2014. He also “destroyed religious items that belonged to his parents.” Sullivan’s mother once opened a package containing a silencer he planned to use in his massacre of innocents. He came to believe that his parents “would interfere” with his plot, so he “offered to compensate the UCE to kill them.” Sullivan’s fear was well-placed, as his own father ultimately helped turn him in.

A grand jury also alleged that Sullivan killed his neighbor, John Bailey Clark. Sullivan did not admit that he committed the murder, but prosecutors have reserved the “right to prove this additional conduct at Sullivan’s sentencing hearing.”

The Islamic State has consistently told supporters that they could better serve the so-called caliphate by striking in the West, rather than traveling abroad to wage jihad on the battlefields in Iraq, Syria or elsewhere. Sullivan apparently responded to this directive, as he told the FBI’s UCE “via social media that it was better to remain in the United States to support ISIL than to travel.”

Digital operatives and “remote-controlled” terror

It is often difficult to assess how much of a threat an aspiring jihadist poses. The FBI is tracking hundreds of potential cases at any given time.

Sullivan’s contacts with Hussain stand out as especially important, however, given that Islamic State operatives such as Hussain have guided a series of plots in the West.

Earlier this year, Munir Abdulkader pleaded guilty to terrorism charges after he also admitted to communicating with Junaid Hussain. According to the Department of Justice, Hussain “directed and encouraged Abdulkader,” who lived in Ohio, “to plan and execute a violent attack within the United States.” [See FDD’s Long War Journal report, Ohio man conspired with Islamic State recruiter, Justice Department says.]

It is likely that Hussain was also in contact with the two gunmen who opened fire at an event dedicated to drawing images of the Prophet Mohammed in Garland, Texas on May 3, 2015. As The New York Times reported, one of the two gunmen, Elton Simpson, tweeted that people should follow an account linked to Hussain shortly before his failed assault. Hussain’s tweets before the attempted shooting indicated that he possibly had foreknowledge of Simpson’s plans. The tweets suggest that there may have been more to Simpson’s relationship with Hussain.

British officials also connected Hussain to plots in the UK. In September 2015, Prime Minister David Cameron disclosed that intelligence officials had tied Hussain and another Islamic State operative, Reyaad Khan, to planned attacks. According to Cameron, Hussain and Khan “were British nationals based in Syria who were involved in actively recruiting [Islamic State] sympathizers and seeking to orchestrate specific and barbaric attacks against the West, including directing a number of planned terrorist attacks right here in Britain, such as plots to attack high profile public commemorations, including those taking place this summer.” Khan was also killed in an airstrike in Syria. According to the US State Department, Hussain’s wife, Sally Jones, has also been involved in the Islamic State’s online plotting. Foggy Bottom added Jones to the US government’s designated terrorist list in Sept. 2015.

“Jones and Hussain targeted American military personnel through publication of a ‘hit list’ online to encourage lone offender attacks,” the State Department explained. “Jones has used social media to recruit women to join” the Islamic State and, in August 2015, “encouraged individuals aspiring to conduct attacks in Britain by offering guidance on how to construct homemade bombs.”

Hussain isn’t the only digital planner whose reach has extended into the US.

Another Ohio man, Aaron Travis Daniels, was arrested earlier this month as he was beginning his journey to Libya. Daniels was allegedly in contact with an Islamic State operative known as Abu Isa Al Amriki, who acted as a “recruiter and external attack planner.” According to the Department of Justice (DOJ), Daniels said at one point that it was al Amriki who “suggested” he go to Libya “to support jihad.” [See FDD’s Long War Journal report, Ohio man allegedly communicated with an Islamic State ‘external attack planner’.]

Al Amriki and his wife, an Australian national known as Umm Isa Amriki, were killed in an airstrike near Al Bab, Syria on Apr. 22. The DOJ does not allege that al Amriki instructed Daniels to commit an attack inside the US. But his ability to communicate with Daniels online is further evidence of the Islamic State’s long online reach. Al Amriki has been tied to other cases as well.

The Islamic State’s digital planners were especially effective at guiding a series of plots in France and Germany earlier this year. In at least some cases, terrorists were in contact with their Islamic State handlers right up until the moment of their attacks. CAIR-New York President Refuses To Condemn Hamas

The board president,Zead Ramadan, refused to answer a question about whether he would condemn Hamas.

The New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) says its vision is “to be a leading advocate for justice and mutual understanding.”[1]

The board president of CAIR-NY, Zead Ramadan, refused to answer a question about whether he would condemn Hamas in December 2011.[2] He has repeatedly bashed the U.S. on Iranian government-controlled television. He made the following comments in his appearances:

“Whenever you think of America, the land of the free, is going to grow up and go beyond it [racism], more intolerant, extremist voices come out.”

“The comments that are being made against Muslims [by Americans] are very eerily echoing the comments that were being made against Jews by Nazis.”[3]

CAIR-NY board member Lamis Deek has expressed support for Hamas, the Muslim Brotherhood and the elimination of Israel.

In 2009, she spoke at an event for the extremist group, Viva Palestina, and said, “In choosing Hamas, what they [Palestinians] chose was one united Palestinian state on all of the 1948 territories from the north to the very south … And in supporting Palestinian choice, we are saying we support their right to liberation from violent colonialism.”[4]

She views the revolutions in the Arab world as a revolt against American aggression.

She tweeted, “Dear America: read, watch the arab world die for freedom from u.s. proxy-imperialist (colonialist) wrath” and “Arab democracy=US govt hands off.”[5]

Deek tells Muslims not to talk to law enforcement and depicts police as a threat to Muslims. She talks about a “NYPD-CIA-Israeli alliance in NY” that targets innocent Muslims.[6] She also told Muslims, “If they [the FBI] comes to your home, sneak out.”[7]

“It’s very important not to speak to law enforcement of any type, not just FBI agents. We’re talking about the New York Police Department, we’re talking about tax agents, we’re talking about everybody,” she told one audience.

The former Civil Rights Director of CAIR-NY, Cyrus McGoldrick, resigned shortly after being sued by a terrorism expert.[8]

McGoldrick supported the Muslim Brotherhood’s takeover of Egypt and echoed the Islamist group’s propaganda that its opponents are puppets of a Western conspiracy. He tweeted on November 27, 2012,

“Can’t shake the feeling that all this anti-Morsi energy is a last stand by old pro-West/Mubarak/Israel crowd to keep power in the judiciary. No?”

McGoldrick repeatedly endorsed Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel and expressed support for the destruction of Israel: [9]

McGoldrick frequently attacks the U.S. as an imperialist, warmongering country that oppresses Muslims:

“Obama condemning racism/profiling while continuing imperialist wars on the Muslim world is just sophisticated propaganda.”—July 19, 2013.

He said on Iranian state television the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya against the U.S. consulate was a result of “the straw that broke the camel’s back in terms of Muslims’ patience with American and Western intervention.”

McGoldrick also said that the U.S. needs to consider “how much more weight will we put on the Muslim world? How many more attacks? How many more drone strikes? How many more coups..?”[10]

He also spreads anti-law enforcement sentiment. Here are two examples from December 15, 2012:

“Maybe I listened to too much Dead Prez growing up, but I can’t accept the liberal, ‘ban all guns’ platform. If the cops have ‘em, I want ‘em.”

“Watching and filming the police is one of the few ways we have to defend ourselves. Start a #CopWatch team in your hood!”[11]

Holder To Ban Religion In Terror Probes

Boy, isn't this a relief....for all of the hundreds and hundreds of Christian, Buddhist and Hindu terrorists in America who have been plotting attacks on army bases, recruiting centers and world trade buildings here, you don't have to worry about your religious background being used as part of the investigation of the terror plot....thanks to Attorney General Eric Holder.  I would have listed "Muslim" above as well but of course that would have meant some scrutiny upon me by the Justice Department and hell, we all know that Muslims don't spread terror based on their religion.  Right?

Holder To Ban Religion In Terror Probes


According to NBC News, the Justice Department will soon prohibit religious profiling in terror cases. The move, if true, would completely blind federal law enforcement to the threat from Islamic extremism.

Already, the department has forced the FBI to bleach references to "Islam" and "jihad" from its counterterrorism training materials. It's also made it harder for agents to infiltrate radical mosques.

But Attorney General Eric Holder reportedly now wants to make it illegal for agents to even consider religion in their investigations.

Democrats on the Hill are cheering the changes, along with the ACLU and radical Muslim Brotherhood front groups, who have all lobbied the administration for them. The Council on American-Islamic Relations, which has seen several of its officials jailed on terror-related charges, calls it "a step in the right direction."

Appearing before the Democrat-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee in 2012, CAIR demanded the administration remove religion as a factor in terrorism investigations, even though just four years earlier Justice had named CAIR an unindicted terrorist co-conspirator.

The Islamic Society of North America, another designated co-conspirator, hailed the move as a civil-rights victory worthy of praise from "Dr. Martin Luther King Jr."

The timing couldn't be worse. Experts say that if anything, the U.S. should be expanding its terrorist profile to include radical Muslim women along with men. Russian intelligence warns female suicide bombers are threatening next month's Winter Olympics.

The FBI missed the Boston Marathon bombings because it failed to focus on radicalized local Muslims. The only way law enforcement can effectively head off future attacks — including possibly the upcoming Super Bowl in New Jersey — is by gathering predictive intelligence in the Muslim community — namely, inside mosques.

However, the attorney general is threatening to cut off these investigative avenues for the FBI, as well as for border agents charged with protecting the nation from Islamic extremists at airports and land crossings.

After 9/11, the Bush administration allowed agents to profile at U.S. borders and in cases related to national security and terrorism. "Federal law enforcement must use every legitimate tool to prevent future attacks," states the Justice Department's "Guidance Regarding the Use of Race by Federal Law Enforcement Agencies."

These guidelines, in force since 2003, have been effective in disrupting some 42 attacks by Muslim terrorists against the homeland since 2001. Now they will be amended to appease radical Muslim groups like CAIR.

After last year's horrific attack on a Kenyan shopping mall, in which Muslim terrorists shot people for failing to answer questions about Islam correctly, CAIR showed its typical callous indifference.

BREAKING: Train Derailment in NYC Kills 4, Injures 60 ...Is It Islamic Terror?

It is guaranteed that some left wing pussy will come on this blog and object to me jumping to conclusions regarding the title of this post but in regards to the train derailment in the Bronx this morning, one simply cannot ignore that Islamic terror groups have been focusing on train attacks for months.  I truly hope that this "accident" is investigated with terror in mind.

Train derailment kills 4 in NYC


NEW YORK - Four people were killed and more than 60 were injured Sunday when a Metro-North commuter train derailed in the Bronx.

The Fire Department of New York also said about 50 units and 135 firefighters were at the derailment location just north of the Spuyten Duyvil station working to get passengers and crew out of the train.

Five of the southbound train's seven cars derailed in an area along the Hudson River and Sputen Duyvil just north of Manhattan, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

The seven-car train originated at 5:54 a.m. in Poughkeepsie, one of New York City's northern suburbs, according to the MTA. The derailment forced a suspension of all service on the MTA's Hudson line between Grand Central Station in Manhattan and the Croton Harmon station in Westchester County, a northern suburb.

The New York City Police Department declared a "level-three mobilization" -- a somewhat-common alert for a serious incident -- sending officers from across the Bronx to the derailment scene.

The Associated Press, quoting a woman at the scene, initially said that some cars of the Metro-North passenger train toppled into water. Edwin Valero told AP he was in an apartment building above the accident scene when the train derailed. He said none of the cars went into the water where the Harlem River meets the Hudson, but at least one ended up a few feet from the edge.

Spuyten Duyvil is a neighborhood in the Bronx. Metro-North's Hudson line serves New York City and Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties, ending in Poughkeepsie.

The Metro-North noted the incident on its website with a note that "Hudson Line Customers will experience indefinite delays south of Croton Harmon. More information will be provided as it is obtained."

Service on the line was initially suspended from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central Station. Later Sunday morning the commuter rail service said rail service was restored from Poughkeepsie to Tarrytown. Passengers would then take buses to the White Plains station on the Harlem line, where they would catch trains to and from Grand Central Station.

You know, it should be enough that CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) actively seeks to see that Islam becomes the dominant religion in America and that they wish the destruction of our Constitution and American way of life but now, this Islamic terror group in America is actively seeking to assist terrorists from around the world in attacks on the U.S.  When is enough, enough?

CAIR Tries to Stop Counter-Terror Training Sessions


The Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is furious that law enforcement received training last Friday from three established counter-terrorism experts who vocally criticize CAIR and its parent organization, the Muslim Brotherhood.

The training focused on the connections between Iran, Hezbollah and the drug cartels and was not about Islam or Muslims in general. It was hosted by the Oklahoma legislature’s Counterterrorism Caucus. CAIR, who tried to stop the training program, claimed that the experts chosen had no credibility and are “an anti-Muslim.”

The three experts who presented the training were: Frank Gaffney, president of the Center for Security Policy and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy in 1987 under the Reagan Administration. Lt. Gen. (Ret.) William G. “Jerry” Boykin, Deputy Under-Secretary of Defense for Intelligence from 2002 to 2007 under the Bush Administration. Clare Lopez, a former CIA operations officer who was named a member of the Congressional Task Force on National and Homeland Security in 2012.

All three of these experts have biographies that eminently qualify them to present this material. Their credentials cannot be questioned. Yet, CAIR’s Oklahoma chapter is adamant that they lack credibility; an accusation that is a pristine example of hypocrisy.

Let’s not forget that CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism-financing trial in U.S. history. The U.S. government listed it as an “entity” of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee, a secret body whose purpose is to support Hamas. In 2009, a federal judge upheld CAIR’s designation as an unindicted co-conspirator in the terror-financing operation due to “ample” evidence provided by the U.S. government.

In 2007, federal prosecutors stated in a court filing, “From its founding by Muslim Brotherhood leaders, CAIR conspired with other affiliates of the Muslim Brotherhood to support terrorists … the conspirators agreed to use deception to conceal from the American public their connections to terrorists.”

The FBI says it no longer uses CAIR as an outreach partner in order to “ensure that the FBI is not supporting individuals who support extremist or terrorist ideologies.”

CAIR-OK’s executive director, Adam Soltani, watched the training from the House gallery. Soltani, who led the fight against the training program by the above experts, was previously the assistant director of outreach for the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City and the coordinator of youth development programs for the Islamic Society of Edmond. The Islamic Society of Edmond’s land is owned by the North American Islamic Trust, another U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity that was labeled an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land trial.

CAIR-OK’s 7th annual fundraising banquet featured Imam Johari Abdul-Malik as its keynote speaker. He is the outreach director for the radical Dar al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Virginia that has extensive ties to Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood.

In 2001, Abdul-Malik approved of attacks on Israeli infrastructure. On January 26, Dar al-Hijrah’s Imam Shaker Elsayed preached in support of violent jihad at a high school. He is also an open supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Yet, Abdul-Malik was the top speaker chosen by Soltani’s CAIR-OK organization for its annual fundraising banquet.

At first glance, it may be surprising to learn that the Oklahoma chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union sided with CAIR on the training issue. ACLU-OK chapter leader Ryain Kiesel criticized the experts as “conspiracy theorists and political opportunists” and said the training “pose[s] a serious risk of prejudice to Oklahoma’s Muslim community.”

However, upon a closer look, given that the ACLU has developed a close relationship with CAIR and its allies, it is not surprising at all.

Under pressure to replace the experts, Rep. John Bennett, chairman of the Counterterrorism Caucus in Oklahoma, refused to budge, saying, “We have no indications there is going to be anything anti-Muslim based on anything other than what CAIR said.”

Not a single media report (that I’m aware of) included the above facts about CAIR. Only the criticisms of the three counter-terrorism experts were included in the coverage.

Yet again, CAIR has proven to be a master of media manipulation.

Testing, 1, 2, 3, testing. Jihadists never go on furlough. While shutdown theater preoccupies Washington, terror plotters remain on the clock. The question is: Will America keep hitting the post-9/11 snooze button?

At Los Angeles International Airport, two dry ice bombs exploded this week, and two others were found in a restricted area of the airport. According to the Los Angeles Times, the devices "appeared to be outside the terminal near planes where employees such as baggage handlers and others work on the aircraft and its cargo."

That reminds me: It's been more than a year since watchdogs warned Capitol Hill that our massive homeland security bureaucracy was neglecting these very areas of our nation's airports. Grandmas, babies and war heroes are routinely groped, manhandled and humiliated in the name of transportation safety. But untold numbers of ground personnel still have easy, breezy access to airplanes and luggage.

In August, seven baggage handlers at Kennedy Airport were arrested after being videotaped stealing jewelry, cash, watches and computers from passenger luggage. In June, a baggage handler at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport was arrested after using his credentials to bypass airport security and carry backpacks containing what he believed were drugs and guns onto commercial flights. It's almost as if any bumbling bimbo can connive his or her way into supposedly secure territory.

A Nigerian illegal alien named Bimbo Oyewole did just that. He used a dead man's birth certificate and Social Security number to get a job with a private security firm at Newark Airport. Con artist Bimbo went undetected for more than two decades while supervising security guards who policed tarmacs, planes and cargo. Last summer, in the wake of Bimbo's belated bust, the DHS inspector general called for stricter background checks on baggage handlers, maintenance workers and other civilian airport employees.

But by the feds' own admission, legions of workers who were grandfathered into the system may yet be traipsing around restricted areas of our nation's airports -- doing God knows what. TSA does not keep systematic records on airport security breaches reported to headquarters. "I'm going to tell you right now that the next incident is going to come from the ground," Rep. Chip Cravaack, R-Minn., testified last spring. "It's going to come from the shadow of the aircraft, not from the terminal. I'm telling you that."

Rest assured, however, that we are as vulnerable as ever to the old tried-and-true scheme of sending hijackers aboard planes to take them down. The U.S. Airline Pilots Association spelled it all out in a memo obtained by WTSP Tampa Bay reporter Mike Deeson last week.

"Bringing down an airliner continues to be the Gold Standard of terrorism," the document warned U.S. Airways pilots. "If anyone thinks that our enemies have 'been there, done that' and are not targeting commercial aviation -- think again. There have been several cases recently throughout the industry of what appear to be probes, or dry runs, to test our procedures and reaction to an inflight threat."

The assessment bluntly described "a group of Middle-Eastern males" who boarded a flight at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C., for Orlando, Fla., on September 2. Onboard, the men made "a scene": running toward the flight deck door, loudly opening and shutting overhead bins, and making what appeared to be a coordinated attempt to distract flight attendants. Federal air marshals were concerned enough about the behavior to "make their presence known." The memo notes that a security search found "evidence of tampering" on the plane.

It's just the latest suspected dry run since the 9/11 attacks:

--In May 2011, Yemeni national Rageh Ahmed Mohammed al-Murisi rushed the cockpit door aboard American Airlines Flight 1561 shrieking, "Allahu akbar!" at the top of his lungs more than 30 times intending to take down the plane and kill everyone on board.
--In July 2011, Saudi Arabian national Saleh Ali S. Alramakh caused United Airlines Flight 944 from Chicago to Germany to divert to Cleveland after violating airline security rules during a bizarre meltdown. He locked himself in the bathroom when passengers were supposed to be seated, scuffled with flight attendants and had to be restrained by the flight crew and other passengers.
--In 2010, Pakistani national Muhammad Abu Tahir was sentenced to prison after disrupting AirTran Airways' Atlanta to San Francisco Flight 39. After defying flight attendants and locking himself in the bathroom, the plane was diverted to Denver. His immigration status and occupation were unknown, though he had lived in the U.S. since at least 2002.

Report: CAIR Engaged in Money-Laundering to Hide Foreign Donors


CAIR, a shadowy Muslim Brotherhood entity, faces serious allegations that it has violated IRS laws & the Foreign Agent Registration Act.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity that portrays itself as a “moderate” representative of the Muslim-American community, has a complex and probably illegal scheme to hide its foreign financing, according to a blockbuster expose in the Daily Caller.

The revealing of the previously unknown system shows “that CAIR is engaged in a thinly-disguised money laundering operation,” said David Reaboi of the Center for Security Policy. He says that CAIR is violating Internal Revenue Service laws and the Foreign Agent Registration Act.

Ironically, it was CAIR’s own attempts to silence its critics that exposed its shadowy activity. The documents were obtained as a result of CAIR’s lawsuit against the Center for Security Policy and Dave and Chris Gaubatz following the publication of Muslim Mafia. The book is based on data obtained by Chris Gaubatz when he infiltrated CAIR by becoming an intern. He recently talked with the Clarion Project about his experience.

The scheme works like this:

CAIR is registered as a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization. The IRS says this is for social welfare organizations and that can include “organizations that engage in substantial lobbying activities.” Donors to this type of non-profit do not have to be disclosed.

In June 2013, CAIR changed its name to Washington Trust Foundation, Inc. Another previous name it used was CAIR-Action Network.

In 2005, CAIR sets up CAIR Foundation, Inc. and it receives its 501(c)(3) non-profit two years later. The IRS says these are charitable organizations that are prohibited from campaign activity. Its donors are disclosed and receive tax deductions.

This second organization did not file the required IRS forms from 2008-2010 and lost its non-profit status in 2011. In 2013, its status was revised and it changed its name to CAIR-Action Network, Inc.

The Daily Caller explains that it is legal for an organization to have two different types of non-profit entities, but they must be strictly separated. In CAIR’s case, they function as one.

To disguise its foreign donors, the financier writes a check to “CAIR” without specifying which entity. The funds are placed in the CAIR/Washington Trust Foundation account so the original source can be hidden.

From there, the money goes to the CAIR Foundation. As explained, donors to this non-profit must be disclosed but the original sources are hidden by routing the donation this way. In a single 5-year period, the CAIR-Action Network transferred $1.8 million to the CAIR Foundation.

To give you an idea of how important foreign financing is to CAIR, consider what the Washington Times discovered in 2007. Its official membership had fallen over 90% since 9/11 and only one percent of its budget came from its less than 1,700 members. Remember that next time that CAIR portrays itself as the legitimate voice of the Muslim-American community.

That means that literally 99% of CAIR’s funding came from only about two dozen donors. CAIR’s local chapters file independently and raise their own funds, but this shows how good CAIR is at using the media to portray itself as a mainstream organization.

CAIR’s hiding of its foreign sponsors also may violate the Foreign Agents Registration Act. The government summarizes it as:

“a disclosure statute that requires persons acting as agents of foreign principals in a political or quasi-political capacity to make periodic public disclosure of their relationship with the foreign principal, as well as activities, receipts and disbursements in support of those activities.”

CAIR is not registered as a foreign agent, but the Daily Caller reports “CAIR has met and coordinated with foreign principals on at least 35 occasions and engaged in more than 100 political influence operations on behalf of foreign principals in the United States.”

The documents show that CAIR has been given almost $2.8 million in donations from foreign principals, including a $2.1 million mortgage loan for its headquarters. In addition, it has pledges totaling a whopping $54.5 million from foreign principals.

It’s easy to understand why CAIR would hide the identities of some of these foreign principals once you learn who they are.

The government of Qatar, the main state sponsor of the Islamist Muslim Brotherhood, has given a minimum of $405,000 over five years.

The “Interests Section of Iran” donated an unknown amount in 2008, as mentioned during CAIR’s 14th annual fundraiser.

The now-deceased President of Libya, Muammar Qaddafi, was asked by top CAIR officials to help pay for the distribution of 1 million Qurans in September 2009. CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad even asked him to fund the creation of yet another non-profit to be called the Muslim Peace Foundation.

Qaddafi’s regime was long labeled by the U.S. as a State Sponsor of Terrorism, but was no longer at the time of the meetings.

The Sudanese government, listed as a State Sponsor of Terrorism by the U.S. government, has been approached by top CAIR officials since at least November 2009.

Declassified documents show that on a single trip to Saudi Arabia, the CAIR leadership planned “to solicit $50 million in governmental and non-governmental contributions.”

Various sources in the United Arab Emirates, including its embassy in the U.S., have given over $450,000.

Think about CAIR’s record and where it stands today.

The U.S. government labeled CAIR an unindicted co-conspirator and a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity in the trial of the Holy Land Foundation for financing the Hamas terror organization. Specifically, CAIR was labeled an entity of the Brotherhood’s Palestine Committee, a secret body established to support Hamas.

In 2009, this incriminating label was upheld by a federal judge because of “ample” evidence linking CAIR to Hamas. The FBI has officially severed non-investigative contacts with CAIR because of its links to Hamas.

The planned prosecution of CAIR founder Omar Ahmad was stopped by the Justice Department in 2010. According to Muslim Mafia, at least 15 CAIR officials have been convicted or investigated in terrorism probes.

And now, there is solid evidence that CAIR is involved in money-laundering to disguise its foreign financiers.

When will CAIR finally get shut down?

Coloradoan – “Fort Collins police have asked local religious organizations to keep an eye out for suspicious behavior after a self-proclaimed ‘Islamist jihadist’ threatened Mormons and Catholics ‘would be destroyed’ in the next two weeks, a memo sent by authorities said.

The man hadn’t been seen in the Fort Collins area as of Sunday, and there is no immediate danger to the public, Fort Collins Police Services Sgt. Mike West told the Coloradoan.

No further details, including the man’s identity, were immediately available. Threats were made in general regard to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Catholic Church; no local organizations were specifically referenced in the FCPS memo.

Rev. Steven Voss said the Archdiocese of Denver shared with him on Friday the Fort Collins Police Services memo and reading its words of caution made his ‘blood run cold.’ But between Sunday Masses at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 300 W. Mountain Ave., Voss said he’s ‘pretty confident’ he and his parishioners won’t have an interaction with the man he was told was ‘nonviolent.’

To give worshipers a sense of peace, he asked an FCPS officer to keep watch during weekend services.

When he read the police bulletin during Mass Saturday, an ‘audible gasp’ escaped those seated in the pews. A day later, ‘after the initial, kind of having your breath taken away moment,’ there was a greater sense of calm, he believes was due in part to police presence.” Read more.

Saudi Man Arrested in Detroit After Statement on Pressure Cooker


DETROIT (Reuters) - A Saudi Arabian man was arrested in Detroit and charged with making a false statement about why he brought a pressure cooker with him on a flight from Amsterdam, according to a criminal complaint filed on Monday.

Hussain al-Khawahir, 33, arrived at the Detroit airport on Saturday and was questioned about why he had brought a pressure cooker with him. The man's name was spelled al-Khawahir in the criminal complaint, while a spokeswoman at the U.S. attorney's office had earlier said it was al-Kwawahir.

He initially said the pressure cooker was for his nephew, a university student in Toledo, Ohio.

"The Defendant then changed his story and admitted his nephew had purchased a pressure cooker in America before but it 'was cheap' and broke after the first use," the complaint said.

Pressure cookers packed with explosive powder and shrapnel were set off at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on April 15, where they killed three people and injured 264. The bombs, left on the ground, caused gruesome injuries with more than 10 people losing limbs, either directly from the blasts or when doctors had to amputate the badly-mangled limbs.

Al-Khawahir was also charged with altering his passport because a page was torn out of the document, the complaint said.

A hearing was held on Monday in federal court in Detroit on the case but no action was taken in order to give prosecutors more time to investigate al-Khawahir, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office said.

North Carolina Jihadi Sentenced To 4 Life Terms For Plot To Behead Witnesses

This guy took the jihad real serious and quite frankly, when you are plotting to behead four federal witnesses in your terrorism case, I don't really see that "jihad" as a "personal struggle."

Man sentenced in plot against terror witnesses


A North Carolina man was sentenced Friday to four life terms for plotting to behead federal witnesses whose testimony helped convict him for his role in an earlier plot to slaughter U.S. servicemen and their families.

Hysen Sherifi, 29, was one of six Raleigh-area Muslims convicted in 2011 of planning to attack the Marine base in Quantico, Va., and overseas targets.

Shortly after starting his 45-year prison sentence in the terror case, Sherifi approached another inmate to help him hire a hit man to behead government informants and FBI agents. He recruited his younger brother Shkumbin Sherifi, 23, and former special education teacher Nevine Aly Elshiekh, 48, to help pay the hit man and organize the murders.

But the inmate whose help Sherifi sought turned out to be yet another government informant. FBI agents then staged an elaborate sting that involved secretly videotaped meetings with a woman posing as the go-between for a fictional hit man named Treetop and doctored photos that appeared to show the corpse of a beheaded witness in a shallow grave.

Federal prosecutors recommended leniency for the two coconspirators, who pleaded guilty last year and agreed to testify at the elder Sherifi's trial on nine felony counts.

Citing their extensive cooperation, U.S. District Senior Judge Earl Britt sentenced the younger Sherifi to 3 years in prison, while Elshiekh got 3 1/2 years. They had faced as much as 10 years each.

Before Hysen Sherifi was sentenced, he lectured the judge about Islamic teachings.

"The Koran is the truth that invalidates all other religions," said Sherifi, who declined a court-appointed lawyer and represented himself at trial. "If you do not submit, he will severely judge you, and on the day of judgment you will enter hellfire."

"That it?" asked Britt, who has served more than three decades on the federal bench. The judge then tacked the four life sentences onto the end of Sherifi's earlier 45-year prison term, along with another 50 years on top of that.

"There can be no doubt Mr. Sherifi, the defendant in this case, meets the definition of a terrorist," Britt said. "He was the genesis of this conspiracy. He was the mastermind, though I'm hesitant to use that term because it affords him more credit than he is due."

Noting that the defendant was unsuccessful in killing anyone, Britt said Sherifi's worst transgression was destroying the lives of his little brother Shkumbin and Elshiekh, with whom he had carried on a romantic dalliance from behind bars.

Elshiekh, a U.S. citizen whose parents emigrated from Egypt, was a respected teacher of special-needs children who was also active as a youth leader at her Raleigh mosque.

According to court testimony, she had just undergone a painful divorce from a cheating husband when she began attending Sherifi's 2011 terrorism trial. She later began visiting him regularly in jail.

Dr. Emily Keram, a forensic psychiatrist hired by the defense, testified that Elshiekh was molested as a child by an uncle in Egypt and then trapped in an arranged marriage to a "con man" who later abandoned her to marry another woman.

Elshiekh was prescribed several psychiatric drugs that impaired her ability to reason and made her pliable to the will of others, the psychiatrist said.

At Hysen Sherifi's direction, Elshiekh gave a collection of gold jewelry given to her by her ex-husband to the younger brother, who pawned the pieces to raise the $5,000 he believed was needed to hire the hit man to execute the first victim.

Elshiekh claimed she had no idea what the money was for until she followed her paramour's direction to meet with a woman in a parked car. The woman, an informant for the FBI, showed Elshiekh a photo of one of the targeted witnesses and asked her to confirm that was the first man to be killed.

Though she then knew what the money was for, Elshiekh continued on with the plot for another 20 days until her arrest.

In her early court appearances, Elshiekh wore a headscarf and a black dress that fully covered her arms and legs. On Friday, her long hair trailed down her back and she wore western clothes.

In a tearful apology before the court on Friday, she accepted responsibility for what she had done.

"I wish I could turn back time, but I can't do that," she told the judge. "I never wanted anyone to get hurt."

Wearing shackles and a black Chicago T-shirt, Shkumbin Sherifi declined to address the judge before sentencing.

The Sherifis are ethnic Albanians who fled Kosovo in 1999 during a brutal sectarian war with Serbs and ended up as refugees in Raleigh. Though Hysen gravitated toward a militant strain of Islam, his younger siblings acclimated more readily to life in America. Shkumbin went so far as to record an amateur rap album.

Among those testifying Friday was one of the government witnesses Hysen Sherifi wanted dead. Melvin Weeks was a U.S. Army soldier serving in Kosovo after the war when he met the older Sherifi, who was visiting his grandparents.

Weeks, a Muslim, said Sherifi praised Osama bin Laden and showed him jihadist videos that included a hostage being beheaded. Though an American bombing campaign had saved the ethnic Albanians from genocide just a few years earlier, Weeks said Sherifi called for holy war against the very nation that gave his family a new home.

"In my opinion, he is a devil manifested here on Earth, walking among us," the former soldier said.

AN ex-girlfriend of dead Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev has told how he tried to brainwash her into becoming a Muslim fanatic who hated America.

Nadine Ascencao, 24, said Tamerlan made her wear an Islamic hijab and pray to Allah and slapped her when she wore Western clothes.

But she was so blindly in love with the handsome boxer who had taken her virginity, she did her utmost to make him happy.

Nadine said: “I went to his mosque a couple of times and even looked into converting to make him happy. I thought, ‘This is crazy’ — but I still did it for him.

“Tamerlan had taken my virginity and said he loved me because I was pure and hadn’t been with any other guys. I was in love and scared he’d leave me if I didn’t do what he said. Looking back I had a lucky escape.”

Tamerlan, 26, who with 19-year-old brother Dzhokhar killed three people and injured 260 when they exploded two bombs at the Boston marathon, started dating Nadine in 2006 when she was 17.

During their three-year relationship she watched him change from a cannabis-smoking, party-loving teenager into a violent extremist.

She said: “One minute he’s this funny, normal guy who liked boxing and having fun, the next he is praying four times a day, watching Islamic videos and talking insane nonsense.

“He became extremely religious and tried to brainwash me to follow Islam. Tamerlan said I couldn’t be with him unless I became a Muslim. He wanted me to hate America like he did.

“He wouldn’t let me watch TV or listen to the radio. He’d say, ‘TV is the project of Satan’ and claimed Satan sent us messages through commercial music.”

The couple even stopped having sex after he said it was wrong because they were not married.

Tamerlan, a Chechen who emigrated to the US with his family in 2002, became obsessed with Nadine’s clothes. She said: “He hated my tight trousers and made me wear long skirts. Towards the end I was wearing a hijab.

“He once ripped a pair of my jeans and hit me in the face with them. Tamerlan told me I should only talk to Muslim girls, not other ‘slutty’ girls.” Besotted Nadine moved into a flat in the house where the Tsarnaev family lived to be near Tamerlan.

And she was heartbroken when she learned he was secretly seeing another girl. Her rival was Katherine Russell, a student who was to become Tamerlan’s wife after converting to Islam. Crafty Tamerlan was soon playing the two women off against one another.

Nadine said: “He once made me learn a verse of an Islamic prayer and if I got it wrong he’d say, ‘Well Katherine can do it’.”

Tamerlan even attacked Nadine when he found her heading off to a friend’s pool party wearing cut-off jeans and a crop top.

She said: “He was shouting and screaming at me. He slapped me across the face really hard.”

Nadine called the police and Tamerlan was arrested and spent a night in the cells. Once out on bail he begged Nadine’s forgiveness.

But as soon as she dropped the charges Tamerlan dumped her and moved in with Katherine. Nadine’s relationship was over and within six months Katherine was pregnant with Tamerlan’s daughter.

Nadine put Tamerlan behind her and barely gave him a second thought until the early hours of April 19 when the FBI turned up at her home asking questions about her ex.

A few hours earlier officers had killed Tamerlan in a shoot-out in Watertown, Massachusetts.

Brother Dzhokhar, who is now in custody, was still on the run.

Nadine, who asked The Sun to obscure her face in photos for fear of reprisals, said: “When they said Tamerlan was dead, I didn’t cry.

“I was more shocked Dzhokhar was involved. He was a nice kid.”

It amazes me what lengths to which the left will go to avoid mentioning terrorism and Islam in the same sentence. During the days between the bombing Monday and identifying the two bombers early Thursday, the left desperately wished they would be American white guys. Leftist Salon.com ran the headline: "Let's hope the Boston Marathon Bomber is a white American." Writer David Sirotta invoked the leftist creed of so-called White Privilege "There is a double standard: White terrorists are dealt with as lone wolves, Islamists are existential threats."

US Representative Peter King (R-NY) has tried to investigate links between Radical Islamists in the US and terrorism, but he's accused of bigotry for his efforts. He proposed it again on Fox News Sunday with Senator Diane Feinstein (D-Cal) when she said: "I - I don't think all of this is very helpful. . . . I don't think we need to go and develop some real disdain and hatred on television about it."

Three years ago, Radical Muslim Major Nidal Hasan shot forty-five soldiers and killed thirteen at Fort Hood while chanting "Allahu Akbar!" (God is great), but our officials in Washington still refuse to call the incident terrorism. The Pentagon's 86-page report on the shooting refused to mention Islam as a motive! Texas Congressman John Carter whose district includes Fort Hood was appalled. "People are afraid to speak out and label someone because they'll be accused of being a racist or accused of profiling or being prejudiced against a certain religion or race of people," Carter told POLITICO. "But in a time of national crisis, which I believe we are in, all identifiers must be discussed."

An officer in the US Army, Hasan publicly identified himself as a "Soldier of Allah" on Army documents, yet the army's top officer - General George Casey said of the mass murder: "as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that's worse."

So General, political correctness is more important than the very lives of soldiers under your command?

Unbelievable.

Former Maine Governor John Baldacci, a very liberal Democrat, played down Muslim association when he hosted a Saturday morning "Inside Maine" radio talk show last Saturday. He claimed poverty was the major factor in motivating the Tsarnaev brothers to bomb the Boston Marathon. Fellow liberal Ken Altshuler was Baldacci's obsequious parrot and strongly supported this foolish contention.

MSNBC has been trying desperately to disassociate Islam from the Boston bombings. Before the Tsarnaev brothers were identified, its guests tried to blame the Tea Party. After they were identified as Muslims, another MSNBC guest insisted the Chechen Muslim backgrounds of the brothers "had nothing to do" with the bombings.

So, why does the left so desperately want to portray the Tsarnaev brothers as domestic terrorists? Because it would play into their world view of conservatives as redneck, cretin Neanderthals who "get bitter [and] cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren't like them" as President Obama described them.

Bitter clingers won't vote for progressive elitists and they have guns. Progressive elitists would disarm them by ramping up gun control and dilute their influence during elections by granting amnesty to millions of illegal aliens who'll vote Democrat. Gun control and amnesty were before Congress when the bombs went off. That riveted America's attention and unraveled carefully-crafted, progressive spin. Already skyrocketing, gun and ammunition sales increased even more as more Americans were suspected their elected leaders were either fools or worse - they were covering up something.

They're wondering, as I am:

*If they all feared for their lives, why did Tamerlan Tsarnaev go back to visit for six months?

*Why did President Obama and Secretary of State Kerry have emergency meetings with the Saudi Foreign Minister while the Saudi national was held in the hospital as a "person of interest"?

*Why was the Wednesday FBI press conference postponed again and again during all this?

*Why was the Saudi national living in Revere, Mass. when his student visa was for a college in Ohio?

*Why does Janet Napolitano profile terrorists as pro-life demonstrators, pro-gun activists, and Iraq veterans - but not radical Muslims?

The terror attacks in Boston, perpetrated by the Tsarnaev brothers, have finally come to an end with the capture of the younger brother Dzhoakhar in Watertown on Friday evening. One hopes that Dzhoakhar survives just long enough to tell us whether he was working with any foreign or domestic Islamist groups before he hopefully meets the same fate of his victims. Our nation will certainly be resilient, and we cannot let terrorists achieve their goals of unraveling our society.

Perhaps Boston’s terror may finally be the impetus to begin the long overdue process of retooling America’s current counterterrorism strategies. Since 9-11, except for the Fort Hood massacre, we have been fortunate enough to avoid the kind of devastation and loss of life that we saw this week in Boston.

That was certainly not for a lack of trying by our enemies, with over 300 arrests on terrorism charges since 9-11. Of these, over 80 percent were Islamists. I’ve said it before — after 9-11, after Fort Hood and after Times Square, this is a Muslim problem that needs a Muslim solution.

The Tsarnaev brothers prove that the current Homeland Security “whack-a-mole” strategy is severely limited and rather flawed. The United States must address head-on the ideology of political Islam, which is the root cause of Islamist terrorism.

As details emerge about the identity and ideologies of the Tsarnaev brothers, it should quickly become clear that these individuals did not go to sleep one night normal American Muslims and wake up the next day Al-Qaeda jihadists putting together pressure-cooker bombs.

Their pathway towards radicalization will now be obvious to those who honestly connect the dots in retrospect. Far more important now is that leading reform-minded American Muslims, along with the U.S. government, the media and academe, begin to confront and dissect the early stages of radicalization (Islamism), not just the last one (violent extremism).

Despite our devotion to our faith, I and other leading anti-Islamist Muslims were vilified by Muslim Brotherhood legacy groups in America, along with their choir on the left, for participating in Representative Peter King’s (R., N.Y.) hearing in Congress on American Muslim radicalization and the central role of Islamism.

I believe history will show Chairman King’s hearings to be prescient. I was also vilified by those same groups for my role in narrating the Clarion Project's documentary The Third Jihad, which happened to open with an illustrative scene from the terror in Beslan, Russia, in September 2004, when militant Chechnyan Islamists killed 334 civilians, 186 of them children, after a two-week standoff.

The 2008 documentary was about the threat of militant Islamism to the West and the need for anti-Islamist Muslims to counter that threat. How many attacks like that suffered by the people of Boston this week must we see before we recognize the need to drill down against the separatism of the global movement of political Islam and their dreams of an Islamic state?

Though these two brothers may have acted like regular American youth to unsuspecting neighbors -- participating in sports, attending public schools and hailing from neighborhoods in the Boston community -- at some point they were taken in by the ideology of political Islam, which, like an intoxicating drug, lured them down the path of separatist Islamism and its common endpoint of militant jihadism against both non-Islamist Muslims and non-Muslim societies.

We at the American Islamic Forum for Democracy hope that our nation can begin to awaken from the anesthetic belief that we are simply fighting the nebulous threat of “violent extremism” to the fundamental realization that we need to counter early on the identifiable infection of Islamism that penetrates the mind of susceptible Muslim youth.

The struggle between Western and Islamist ideologies rips to the core of a young Muslim’s identity. This is what I confront head on in my book A Battle for the Soul of Islam: An American Muslim Patriot’s Fight to Save His Faith. Our nation must develop a robust “liberty doctrine” that acknowledges this battle both at home and abroad.

Since the FBI actually interviewed Tamerlan Tsarnaev in 2011, it will also be important to unravel in this case how the administration determines who actually poses an ideological risk for radicalization. As our diverse American Islamic Leadership Coalition (AILC) of anti-Islamist Muslim organizations in North America wrote in 2011, to date the administration has been unwilling to even recognize that there is an identifiable ideological threat.

Instead its strategy relies on the meaningless phrase “violent extremism,” or, in the case of Major Nidal Hasan’s Fort Hood massacre, “workplace violence.”

While these brothers were immigrants from Chechnya, they were not recent immigrants. It appears from their YouTube and Facebook pages that their Islamism was nurtured in just the past few years, after they had been in the U.S. for some time.

So their radicalization was likely less about Chechnya than it was about the transnational Islamist supremacism that they brought with them. Tamerlan’s trip to Russia may ultimately reveal some indoctrination or training. Most likely, as we see the clues so far, is that they became obsessed with “Muslim victimhood” and became estranged from the America they had embraced to only fill that vacuum with militant Islamist hatred and supremacism.

This supremacism often originates from Saudi Arabia’s Wahhabi or Salafist ideologues, now positioned around the world and in social media. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, for example, had lauded the radical sermons of Feiz Muhammad out of Australia. On his Facebook page he described his own world view as “Islam,” which is synonymous with the Islamist desire to create theocratic Islamic states and a global neo-Caliphate. This is also code for the ultimate defeat of non-Islamic-majority nations by the ascent of Islamist states.

To jihadists, terror is a tool against societies that they dehumanize in order to disrupt their harmony and economy. Through terrorism, they can also make the West less comfortable or attractive for liberal Muslims, making it much easier for them to win this battle within the House of Islam. Their narrative is not new.

Brothers like this, despite outward appearances of being “normal Americans,” never actually bought into the idea of Americanism and a truly pluralist society. We’ve seen it before in Faisal Shahzad, the Times Square bomber, and so many of the other radicalized jihadists found since 9-11 on our soil.

Even in Boston itself, a quick look at various competing Muslim and non-Muslim narratives finds the arrest and conviction of Tarek Mahenna — a recent, important teachable moment. In April 2012 the MIT graduate and pharmacist received more than 17 years in prison for aiding Al-Qaeda. His arrest, trial and conviction were reviled by the left and Islamist groups alike including the bizarre New York Times op-ed “A Dangerous Mind?” Just see the FreeTarek.com website for a virtual clinic into how the soil of Muslim victimization is tilled.

An obsessive mindset of “Muslims as victims” rather than as Americans is how many of these radical Islamists start. Put another way, Muslims are indoctrinated by many Muslim Brotherhood legacy groups and the like in the West to sympathize with the grievances and supremacist identity of the transnational theo-political movements of political Islam.

Notice the brothers’ aunt and parents in Canada and Russia, who were brimming to the media with conspiracy theories and excuses. But then, as many point out, the Islamists of Chechnya have been fueled for decades by radicalization from Salafi and Wahhabi ideas brought in by Saudi masters. Russia’s authoritarian and repressive response to entire swaths of Muslims in Chechnya certainly didn’t help empower moderate Muslims to defeat the radicals.

I was raised with the sense that my primary allegiance was always to America and its fabric of Americanism, which can be realized only through a rejection of “Islamism” and its ideology. The idea of liberty must be nurtured within the Muslim consciousness in order to inoculate youth against the ideology of Islamism. This requires Muslim leaders who both believe in the separation of mosque and state and reject the “Islamic state.”

Until most Muslims begin to harness our resources and our efforts to counter the ideology of Islamism and its attraction of vulnerable American Muslim youth and its pathway towards jihadization, we will continue to see youth ages 13 and up turn against us. The “morphine” of jihadism numbs their identity and drives them to destroy free societies. It infects them, dehumanizes their fellow Americans and instructs them to commit acts of terrorism against their own — Muslim and non-Muslim alike.

As is often the case with Islamists, their radicalization is preceded by misogyny and a learned behavior that dehumanizes women and then all those who seek to be free. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was arrested in 2009 for assault and battery against his girlfriend.

The warning signs in these two youths were obvious. But as a society that refuses to engage Islamism, we ignored them at our own peril.

Refusing to be Terrorized

Two out of three governments agree that dealing with terrorism is all about having the right attitude. That, "Yes, we've been bombed, but we're ready to pick ourselves up and get on with our lives without drawing any conclusions from what happened" attitude that politicians patriotically advocate as soon as the carnage is over.

"Americans refuse to be terrorized. Ultimately, that's what we'll remember from this week," Obama said in his radio address.

But of course Americans were terrorized. Obama's message is that in response to the terrorism, Bostonians won't spend the rest of their lives locked in their homes, at least not until the next time there's a terrorist on the loose. But then again neither are Rwandans or Sudanese. This isn't so much an inspirational message as a pat on the back from a government that once again failed in its duty to keep Americans from being terrorized.

If America had refused to be terrorized, the Tsarnaevs would not have been admitted to this country or would have been shown the door once they started adding terrorist videos to their playlist. Instead Tamerlan Tsarnaev was free to slap around his girlfriend while his brother Dzhokhar was adding classic hits to his YouTube playlist like "We Will Dedicate Our Lives to the Jihad."

That ditty, from the hit-master behind "Hey, Shahid", "The Holy Jihad (Rise Muslim)" and "Insallah, We are Waiting for Paradise" contains lyrics like "Paradise's rivers softly chime/The 72 virgins lovingly whisper" and "Infidels rule the earth/for the faithful life is torture".

But while infidels might still rule the United States, though there are serious questions to be raised about who is ruling Michigan or New Jersey, life was hardly torture for the Tsarnaevs who drove luxury cars, attended good schools and got good media coverage. The good media coverage continued even after their bout of mass murder as the New York Times feature story on them was headlined, "Far From War-Torn Homeland, Trying to Fit In." And who can blame them for trying to fit by practicing some of their native customs of mass murder.

At some point refusing to be terrorized looks a lot like refusing to pay attention to what terrorism is. After September 11 the government encouraged everyone to get back out there and shop. The message now is take in an interfaith service and then visit your local mosque for a sanitized tour that explains how peaceful Islam really is. There's a lot of talk about finishing the marathon and MoveOn.orging on our way past the unpleasantness.

But there are two standards on being terrorized. When a mentally ill man shoots up a school, then everyone is obligated to be terrorized all the time. Children can be seized for chewing a pop tart the wrong way and the leading leaders tow around selected parents of victims to demand that the pesky Bill of Rights take a back seat to a special moral superiority vote from a former Democratic member of congress whose great achievement in life was getting shot in the head by another mental patient.

The next Adam Lanza is just around the corner. But the next Tamerlan Tsarnaev isn't worth bothering with. Gun control is an urgent issue, but mass immigration from terrorist countries isn't.

Talk of refusing to be terrorized smacks of governments handing out coping mechanisms for preventable acts of terror. And once we start going down that road, it's worth remembering that the timeless coping mechanism for that sort of thing is Stockholm Syndrome. Indeed the old Stockholm cure is popular in the media which is already beginning to disgorge explanations of alienation that will show that Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev didn't kill on their own, we made them killers by not showing them enough love.

It's not the role of governments to tell people how to get over a terrorist attack. Nor is it the role of government to violate the Bill of Rights using the act of a lone madman as a pretext. But it is the role of government to stop an international campaign of terror by a fanatical ideology from reaching these shores using the blunt tool of immigration.

Refusing to be terrorized is as simple as refusing to accept more immigrants from Muslim countries. It's not the least repressive measure ever, but it beats interfering with the civil rights of hundreds of millions of Americans who are not members of terrorist groups.

The difference between refusing to accept terrorism and refusing to feel bad about terrorism is the difference between refusing to be terrorized and refusing to pay attention to terrorism.

There is no need for Obama to play Therapist-in-Chief. It's not his job, even if he is better at it than he is at his real job. His job isn't to praise the attitudes of the people his administration put in danger by refusing to give Tamerlan the boot even after warnings had come in that he was involved with Islamic terrorism. It's to refuse to accept the presence of terrorists in this country.

Obama obviously won't do that job. But neither did Bush. Unlike empty paeans to courage by politicians with none of their own, that topic is not even on the table. The terrorists will keep on coming and after each new act of terror, the politicians who keep the door wide open for them will praise the indomitable spirit of whichever city got targeted this time around.

Americans don't need to be told that they have courage. It's a nice topic for a speech, but an even better topic for a speech is, "How I Spent My Summer Vacation Deporting Amateur Jihadists Who Claim Life Under Infidel Rule is Torture." One is an empty compliment. The other is a practical task.

A refusal to be terrorized should not be the task of the civilian population. It only becomes the task of the civilian population when the government is unwilling or unable to keep them safe. And then come the speeches that say, but don't say, "The bad news is you're going to be blown up, but the good news is you're going to be a good soldier about it."

Muslim terrorism doesn't just happen. It's not random. It's not inevitable. It's a known entity and it has a vector. When bird flu breaks out, flights from affected countries are suspended, but when Islamism breaks out in a country, then the planes keep flying and the refugees get resettled and the infection spreads.

America will refuse to be terrorized when it refuses to admit terrorists or potential terrorists into the country and when it begins aggressively deporting terrorist sympathizers from its cities. Americans will refuse to be terrorized when they demand a government that closes the door to terrorists, instead of praising everyone for their courage once the acts of terror happen.

Terrorism is a function of immigration. Terrorists do not come to this country on parachutes or sneak in by boat. For the most part they arrive here legally. They come through a door that our government opened and keeps open as widely as it can because its allied institutions profit from the traffic. It is more important for the government to keep colleges in the Middle East student business and to keep Democrats in the new minorities business than it is to refuse to allow this country to be terrorized.

We refused to be terrorized after September 11. We went shopping. We got back in the stock market. We fought two wars whose prime purposes was to get two Muslim countries to be able to vote for their leaders. And here we are again facing the same thing all over again. Except this time we get to trade Iraq for Syria and Boston for New York.

While we refuse to be terrorized, those who insist on terrorizing us continue swarming into this country. A hundred Muslim nations have sent their progeny to live their tortured lives here, until they grow tired of infidel rule and decide to do what they do back home. Kill. And then we once again can refuse to be terrorized at an interfaith service in which the clergy of the murderers stand side by side with the clergy of the murdered.

The day may come when we finally refuse to be terrorized. They will not do it by going back to do their part for the next shopping season, the next interfaith service and the next healing speech. They will refuse to be terrorized by closing the door on terrorism for good.
