3 US military members killed at Jordanian base

The Pentagon has confirmed that three US soldiers were killed as they were driving onto a base in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan while on a training mission in the al-Jafr base close to the southern city of Ma'an.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Three US military members were killed in a shooting outside a military base in southern Jordan on Friday, the Pentagon said.

Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook said the three were in Jordan on a training mission and came under fire while driving into the base. He provided no other details and said US officials are consulting with the Jordanian government to determine exactly what happened at the base.

Earlier, an American official in Washington said one US service member died at the scene and two who were wounded died at a hospital in Amman, the Jordanian capital. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because details of how the attack happened were still being investigated.

Jordan is a key US ally and member of a US-led military coalition fighting ISIS, which controls parts of neighboring Iraq and Syria.

Shots were fired as a car carrying the Americans tried to enter the al-Jafr base near the southern Jordanian town of Maan at about noon local time on Friday, military officials in the US and Jordan said.

In addition to the US casualties, a Jordanian officer was also wounded, Jordanian officials said.

It was not immediately clear what prompted the shooting.

Jordan faces homegrown extremism, with hundreds of Jordanians fighting alongside ISIS militants in Iraq and Syria and several thousand more supporting the extremist group in the kingdom.

Last November, a Jordanian police captain opened fire in an international police training facility, killing two Americans and three others. The government subsequently portrayed the police captain as troubled.

The United States has spent millions of dollars to help the kingdom fortify its borders. For the West, any sign of instability in Jordan would be of great concern.

‘Terror attack’ kills 5 Jordan intelligence agents

AMMAN: Five Jordanian intelligence agents were killed in a "terrorist attack" on their office in a Palestinian refugee camp north of the capital Amman on Monday, the government said.

Jordan is a leading member of the US-led coalition fighting the Islamic State ( ISIS ) group in neighbouring Iraq and Syria and has been the target of jihadist attacks in the past.

"The intelligence agency office in the Baqaa camp was the target of a cowardly attack shortly before 7am (0400 GMT) today that left five agents dead," government spokesman Mohammed Momani said. Momani said security forces were investigating who was responsible for the "terrorist attack" on the first day of the Muslim holy month of Ramzan.

A security source told AFP that preliminary findings suggested the attack was carried out by a lone gunman who opened fire with an automatic weapon before escaping. The source said it was unclear whether the gunman was a camp resident or an outsider.

Jordan has seen spillover from the conflicts in Iraq and Syria in the past. In December 2005, suicide attacks on three Amman hotels claimed by ISIS's predecessor al-Qaida in Iraq killed 60 people and wounded dozens.

The Baqaa camp, where Monday's attack took place, is 20 kilometres (12 miles) from the centre of Amman and the largest of the kingdom's 10 official Palestinian refugee camps. It hosts around 100,000 of Jordan's 2 million Palestinian refugees, most of whom fled from the West Bank and Gaza Strip after Israel's capture of the territory's during the Six-Day War of 1967.

Baqaa suffers from chronic poverty and high unemployment. It was the home of Mahmud Abdelal, an Islamist extremist who blew himself up in Syria in October 2012.

In 2010, three Jordanian Islamist extremists were sentenced to prison terms of between three years and life for plotting to kill intelligence officers in the camp, a court official said at the time. According to sources close to Islamists, almost 4,000 Jordanians have joined jihadist groups in Iraq and Syria, where an estimated 420 have been killed since 2011.


Jordan has carried out air strikes against ISIS in Syria since 2014.


One of its pilots was captured by the jihadists when his plane went down in Syria in December 2014. In February 2015, ISIS released gruesome footage of Maaz al-Kassasbeh being burned alive in a cage. His murder prompted Jordan to extend its air strikes against ISIS to Iraq, where it is the only Arab coalition member participating in the bombing campaign.

Jordan has also opened up the Prince Hassan airbase, northeast of the capital, to other members of the US-led coalition taking part in the air war.


In March, Jordanian authorities announced they had foiled an ISIS plot to carry out attacks in the kingdom in an operation that led to the deaths of seven jihadists.

AMMAN: Jordan has acknowledged that more than 12,000 Syrian refugees have amassed at its border, awaiting entry.

The confirmation by government spokesman Mohammed Momani comes after Jordan initially dismissed a similar estimate provided by the UN refugee agency as exaggerated.

Momani told Associated Press on Tuesday that "the number is 12,000, but it is increasing."

The refugees are stranded in a remote desert area on the Syrian-Jordanian border, often spending weeks or months there in what aid agencies say are deteriorating humanitarian conditions. In December, the UN refugee agency urged Jordan to allow the refugees to enter.

Momani says about 50 to 100 refugees are permitted entry each day, with priority given to women, children, the elderly and sick people. He says mass entry is unlikely because of security concerns.

Jordan's King Abdullah II Basically Admits His Country Wants NOTHING To Do With the Palestinians

I have said for years that there was no country in the entire Middle East that wanted anything to do with the so-called Palestinians let alone give them refuge or a home - Syria didn't want them, Lebanon didn't want them, Egypt didn't want them, Saudi Arabia didn't want them and Jordan didn't want them.  Some of those countries actually DID have them many years ago and threw their asses out.  These Middle Eastern countries all claim to support a "state" for these vermin but the truth is finally coming out that the reason they want this, is to ensure that the scourge of the Middle East doesn't end up in THEIR countries.

King Abdullah II is quoted at the story from Israel National News as damn near freaking out over any talk that the Palestinians should just become part of Jordan.

Jordan's King: Jordan is Palestine? That's an Illusion


Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Saturday hit out at those on the Israeli right who say that a Palestinian state already exists and that it is located in Jordan, Army Radio reported, citing an interview the King gave to the Al-Hayat newspaper.

The King said that anyone who thinks that Jordan is Palestine is living in an illusion.

"The Israeli extremists are misleading when they say that the Palestinian lands should be emptied and that the Palestinians should be exiled to Jordan," he told the newspaper.

“Over the years, since the signing of the peace treaty with Israel, Jordan has adhered to attitudes and policies that support the Palestinian people and their continued existence in a country of their own,” said King Abdullah.

There have been many calls on Jordan to accept the so-called “Palestinian refugees”, considering that the areas liberated by Israel during the 1967 Six Day War were under Jordanian control.

More importantly, since a majority of Jordanians - which was established in 1947 on 77% of the British Mandate of Palestine - are Palestinian Arabs (some 70%), some have suggested the country should rightfully serve as a Palestinian state.

This idea has been supported by many Israeli nationalists, one example being former MK Aryeh Eldad, who has been advocating for this for years.

The Hashemite Kingdom, however, has rejected these calls. Just last month, King Abdullah told the Jordanian parliament that “Jordan is Jordan and Palestine is Palestine and nothing but that, not in the past or the future.”

As peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority have continued, there has been growing concern in Jordan over U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’s proposed framework agreement and what will be its effect on Jordan.

Jordan's government is hoping to be spared by a popular uprising by having the repressed "Palestinians" removed and sent to Israel as part of a future deal.

Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Nasser Judeh, recently reiterated that Jordan will not be an "alternative home for anybody."

46 years ago today the City of David, Jerusalem was reunited after being cut into 2 by the Jordanians and the United Nation.  For 19 years no Jew, no Christian was allowed to worship at their holy places.  In fact, the tombstones on the Mount of Olives Cemetery (One of the oldest Jewish Cemeteries in the world.) were used by the Jordanians as paving stones, building stones, even to make latrines.  And the world said nothing.  Not a peep.

On an almost daily basis, snipers on the walls of the Old City would open fire on Israeli civilians.  And the world said nothing.  Not a peep.

To solve this issue and stop the gunfire, orders were given to liberate the Old City.  And the IDF came through with skill.  The City of David was unified.  All people were free to worship at their holy places.

Today as Israel and Jews around the world celebrate 46 years of a unified Jerusalem, President Barack Hussein Obama is demanding that the city be split into 2 again.  And the world is cheering him on.

Forget about what happened the last time the city was divided to appease the Arabs.  Forget that for 46 years the city has been whole, united.  Forget that under the Arabs only Muslims could pray at in the city, Jews and Christians were forbidden.  That means nothing to those who have been appeasing the Arabs in the hope that they finish the job Hitler started.

Hagel Sends 200 U.S. Troops To Jordan

US troops sent to Jordan to counter Syrian attack on kingdom


US Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced Wednesday, April 17, that 200 troops of the US 1st Armored Division had been ordered to deploy in Jordan. debkafile’s military sources report that they are being sent on arrival to the north and ranged on the Jordanian-Syrian border.
According to the Pentagon statement, the force will give the United States the ability to "potentially form a joint task force for military operations, if ordered.”

The new deployment will include communications and intelligence specialists, who will assist the Jordanians and "be ready for military action" if President Barack Obama orders it.

Small US units, mainly special forces and special groups trained for chemical warfare, have been have been quietly present in Jordan for the past year. The new deployment makes the US military presence official.
debkafile’s Washington sources disclose that President Obama ordered the new deployment to the kingdom when he discovered that Syrian President Bashar Assad was about to publicly and sharply condemn Jordan’s King Abdullah in a special Syrian TV broadcast Wednesday night and accuse him of responsibility for sending hundreds of armed fighters into Syria to oppose the regime.
Assad was also expected to warn the US and the West that they would regret their support for al Qaeda groups fighting with the rebels against his government.
In Washington and Amman, the forthcoming diatribe by Assad against the king was viewed as the opening shot for a presidential order to the Syrian army to launch an offensive against the Hashemite Kingdom.
debkafile’s military sources report that if full-scale war were to erupt between US troops and the Jordanian Army, on one side, and the Syrian army, on the other, Israel and the IDF would almost certainly become involved.

Israel Has Asked Jordan Twice For Permission To Bomb Syria's WMD Depots

Now, Israel doesn't really NEED Jordan's approval to bomb WMD sites inside of Syria but the fact is that some of the sites are awfully close to the Jordanian/Syrian border (I wonder if Jordan knew that) and on the wrong day, I"m guessing there could be a bad wind and that could affect a population of Jordanians.

The Jordanians have said no twice to the permission but I'm guessing that the Israelis feel they have done enough to cover themselves now with the Jordanian government.

Report: Israel Asked Jordan for OK to Bomb Syrian WMDs


Israel has consulted with Jordan twice over the issue of Syria's chemical weapons arsenal, according to a report published Monday by The Atlantic, both times with plans to take out multiple sites. According to intelligence officials in two countries quoted by correspondent Jeff Goldberg, "Israel has been seeking Jordan's 'permission' to bomb these sites, but the Jordanians have so far declined" to agree.

As Goldberg pointed out, Israel does not need Jordan's approval to bomb an arsenal that could prove to be an existential threat to its citizens. A nuclear reactor built by North Korea in Syria in 2007 was quietly eliminated by the IAF. But according to the report, Israel is concerned about the possible repercussions for Jordan of an attack on Syrian chemical weapons storage facilities, because a number of the sites are apparently close to the Syrian-Jordanian border.

"The Jordanians have to be very careful about provoking the regime and they assume the Syrians would suspect Jordanian complicity in an Israeli attack,” Goldberg quoted the source as saying. "You know the Israelis – sometimes they want to bomb right away. But they were told that from the Jordanian perspective, the time was not right.”

Allegedly the contacts between Israel and Jordan over the issue were made through Mossad envoys sent by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's office during the past two months. Goldberg received no reply from Israel's embassy in Washington to his request for comment or verification of the information.

A diplomatic source in the Middle East told media Monday evening that Syrian Foreign Ministry spokesman Jihad Makdissi has defected. The source said that Makdissi had reportedly been thrown out of the government for issuing statements that were opposed to the position of the Syrian regime.

Most recently the Foreign Ministry claimed that the Syrian government would not use chemical weapons against its own people. In a statement broadcast on government-run national television earlier today (Monday), the country's foreign ministry assured the international community President Bashar al-Assad would not approve such a measure.

Jordan foiled a major plot by an al Qaida-linked cell to destabilise the key US ally's security by bombing shopping centers and assassinating Western diplomats, state television said on Sunday.

Security forces detained 11 suspects in connection with a plot going on since June to carry out attacks in the capital Amman using smuggled weapons and explosives brought from Syria, according to security officials cited by television.

"Their plans included getting explosives and mortars from Syria," a security source told Reuters.

The attacks, aimed at western and commercial areas, would likely have resulted in the death of thousands, according to Jordanian authorities.

The security source said the suspects had manufactured explosives "aimed at inflicting the heaviest human losses possible."

Jordan is a key US ally in the Middle East and Israel's peace partner. The Arab kingdom has often been targeted by al-Qaida and other Islamic militants. It regularly arrests terror suspects and puts them on trial.

King of Jordan Seeks Full and Final Divorce From Filthy Palestinians

Like I've always said, if the so-called Palestinians are so oppressed and in such dire straits, why don't any of the neighboring Arab and Muslim countries take them in? Abdullah seeking divorce from Palestinians


King Abdullah is seeking to complete the divorce proceedings between Jordan and the Palestinians which his late father, King Hussein, began in 1988.

The separation began in July that year, a few months after the eruption of the first intifada.

King Hussein realized back then that it was not in the interest of his kingdom to maintain a linkage to the West Bank, home to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians.

His biggest fear was that the intifada would spill over into Jordan, where the Palestinian majority would rise against his monarchy.

By cutting off Jordan’s legal and administrative ties with the West Bank, King Hussein signaled his desire to part from the Palestinians living there. Jordanians and Palestinians at the time hailed the decision as a positive step toward the Palestinians establishing a state of their own.

But many Jordanians felt that the divorce had not been completed given the fact that most Palestinians living in the kingdom continue to hold Jordanian citizenship.

In recent years, King Abdullah has faced calls from fellow Jordanians to act quickly to ensure that the separation from the Palestinians would be completed.

In 2009, Amman quietly began revoking the Jordanian citizenship of thousands of Palestinians, triggering strong protests from human rights organizations and pro-Palestinian groups around the world.

Over the past year, Jordan has witnessed increased demands for reforms and democracy. The “Arab Spring” that has been sweeping the Arab world has prompted thousands of Jordanians to take to the streets every week to demand real changes and freedoms.

The growing protests have clearly embarrassed and confused King Abdullah, who is feeling the heat approaching him rapidly.

The monarch’s biggest fear is that the powerful and popular Muslim Brotherhood organization would form an alliance with the Palestinians and turn against his regime, seriously undermining his grip on power.

King Abdullah is now hoping that a new electoral law would prevent both the Islamists and Palestinians from gaining victories in the upcoming parliamentary election, scheduled for later this year.

Talk in Israel and elsewhere about turning Jordan into a Palestinian state has also left the king worried about the future of his kingdom. That explains why he is not even prepared to receive 1,100 Palestinian refugees who have fled Syria in recent weeks, while at the same time welcoming more than 100,000 Syrians who crossed the border into Jordan.

The Jordanians have no problem absorbing tens of thousands of Iraqis, Syrians and Libyans. But when it comes to the Palestinians, it’s a completely different story. The last thing King Abdullah needs is another 500,000 Palestinians in the country.

King Abdullah is now seeking to distance himself from the Palestinians. He says he wants the Palestinians to go to the West Bank and Gaza Strip and establish their own state there, and not elsewhere.

The king feels reassured only when an Israeli or US official tells him that “Jordan is for the Jordanians and Palestine for the Palestinians.”

Jordan: Man cuts sister throat to cleanse family honour


(ANSAmed) - AMMAN, NOVEMBER 16 - A man from the southern city of Tafilah killed his sister in public by slitting her throat for being involved in a romantic relation, police sources said on Wednesday.

The 18 year old man attacked his sister in the main bus station of the town, before being arrested, said the sources.

Eye witnesses said medics arrived when the girl was making her last breath as investigation continued to determine other culprits in the brutal attack.

The killer told police he wanted to kill his sister to cleanse the family honour after the victim admitted involvement with a man who wanted to marry her, said the police sources.

The death brings number of women killed in the name of honour to nearly 15 since the start of the year, say officials.

The government promised to adopt an iron fist policy with such cases following campaigns from human rights groups.

But activists say strict social habits make it difficult to eradicate such phenomena.

Killers are often handed a sentence between six months to one year for the murder, say activists.

Jordanian Places Bomb at Dallas Skyscraper

A Jordanian citizen in the U.S. illegally placed an inert "car bomb" at the base of a 60-story skyscraper in Dallas and was arrested today.

Hosan Maher Husein Smadi is 19 years old and according to the arrest warrant (available in pdf) publicly pledged his loyalty to Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda, according to authorities. The arrest warrant states that three FBI agents worked undercover as members of an al-Qaeda "sleeper cell," and first made contact with Hosam Maher Husein Smadi through an "online group of extremists." In some 60 conversations with Smadi, both online and in person, he told the agents that he was in the U.S. (illegally) to "specifically" commit "Jihad for the sake of God."

On June 24th, Smadi discussed targeting military recruitment centers with undercover FBI agents. The agent who wrote the arrest affidavit said the idea was based on the Little Rock, Arkansas drive-by shooting murder of Pvt. William Long, and the wounding of Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula. Pvt. Long's killer was Adbulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, who once-upon-a-time was simply Carlos Bledsoe of Memphis, TN. Muhammad had traveled to Yemen to train in Jihad. You'll remember this terrible murder. Muhammad tried to kill more than one, but fortunately failed. President Obama didn't mentioned Pvt. Long's death and his Attorney General, Eric Holder, was busy investigating the "right-wing radical" that killed an abortion doctor - actually sent out U.S. Marshals to protect abortion clinics. They caught the doctor's killer but seemed to have no concern about the targeting of military recruiters.

Here are some quotes directly from Hosam Maher Husein Smadi's arrest warrant:

"I truly say it that my dream is to be among God's soldiers, first for the support of Islam and my beloved Sheik Usama [Osama bin Laden], may God give him long life. I don't know what is in me, but I love him as I love my father. I don't want to add to this.

Now my brother, the point is that thousands of Muslims have been killed in Gaza a the hand of Jews-the-dogs and the silent disloyal backsliders. Those are the Arab kings and, God willing, their end will be the hanging rope and hell.

Their silence and fight against the Sheik mean that they are backsliders along with the enemy in a world plan to destroy Islam, Muslims and to seize their lands for the benefit of the Jews and for the love of infidelity.

By God who created me, there will not be a retreat at all, even if they take me to Guantanamo for the rest of my life. I will never forget Iraq, Palestine, Afghanistan, or any land where the call of 'there is no God but God, Muhammad is God's Messenger' is raised.

In the named of God, the Gracious and the Merciful, this is my vow to you, my brother, that I am ready,” Smadi allegedly told undercover FBI agents. “And if you were a lover of Jihad as I am, then, by God, I am ready for the Jihadi life.

We shall attack them in their very own homes,” Smadi said, according to the affidavit. “Brother, by God, we shall attack them in a manner that hurts, an attack that shakes the world.”

The FBI agents, as they talked of planned attacks, tried to give Smadi an opportunity to back off of the plan, telling him if he had doubts, they "would depart now as friends and brother in Islam without any anger at all," and then said "In this case, you may perform Jihad in a less dangerous way, such as Jihad using your money or in training yourself to avoid sins, indignities, and desires."

Smadi was not interested in bowing out:

"...I shall expel the Jews from the land of holy Jerusalem....We shall destroy all the Romans and all the religion's enemies. I shall kill and behead the backslider operatives in the Levant and land of Muslims."

The Jordanian wanted to go after credit card companies to cripple America's economy. He said he would do it this way:

...so if a bomb is planted, for instance, in the car, timed or to detonate remotely...a very fast operation, smart and decisive."

Something went wrong for Smadi. He wasn't so "smart." Some reports say the bomb was an "inactive car bomb," and another says he "thought" what he put "at the base of Fountain Place" was a bomb:

The FBI says it "ensured the (car bomb) contained only an inert/inactive explosive device which contained no explosive materials."

When the FBI agents communicated with Hosam Maher Husein Smadi, they spoke in Arabic. All of the conversations were in Arabic. I'm thankful for these talented agents who are willing to sacrifice their lives, even with the possible threat of the Obama administration's Department of Justice criminal investigation looming.

Jordan's Abdullah Rids Army and Government of Palestinian Vermin

I've said it for years and years....the biggest reason that the Arab countries of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt and so on all want the Palestinians to have a "state" is because they want to reduce any chance that the filthy Palestinians will ever cross into their lands. King Abdullah, who for years has supposedly been a supporter of the Palestinians and their facade of a plight as the "oppressed" and "occupied" is now in the process of purging his military and government of the Pali vermin. The fact of the matter is that Abdullah will probably finish this phase and then start to work on the general population.

America and dozens of other western nations have for decades poured millions and billions of dollars of aid into the land of the Palestinians yet we have never seen any of the neighbors of the Palestinians offer a damn thing (except for the Saudis offering money to the Palis to don suicide vests and blow themselves up) - it's because the Palis are like lice on a dog's back.

Jordan's King Abdullah purges regime and army of Palestinians

While the Obama administration is preparing to stage a US-Israeli-Palestinian summit at the UN General Assembly in New York next month, Jordan's king Abdullah, who has always claimed to be an ardent champion of the Palestinians, is quietly acting to cut down their numbers and influence in his kingdom.
Just over 50% of Jordan's six million citizens are Palestinian.
On Aug, 6, he addressed the Jordanian General Staff in Amman with a warning that domestic and foreign plots were afoot to stir unrest among the Palestinian majority community.
"I clearly reiterate that no force can compel us to act in any way against the interests of Jordan and Jordanians," Abdullah said. "Anyone who thinks of threatening Jordan, its identity, stability and national unity, does not know Jordan or Jordanians and has not read their history."
Abdullah did not name the source of the threat to Jordan. Some Middle East sources interpreted his unusually stern remarks as referring to Syria and Iraq and their possible exploitation of the Palestinian community for destabilizing the kingdom. Hence the following five steps disclosed here by DEBKAfile's military and intelligence sources:
1. The king has ordered a massive purge of the Jordanian military, forcing hundreds of officers into early retirement. The official pretext is the need to lower the average age of the officer class in the interests of modernizing and energizing the armed forces. But a survey of the names of the officers laid off and their replacements shows a different picture. None of the officers dismissed from active duty bear Bedouin tribal names. These days, the Bedouin tribes which are the traditional loyal backbone of the Hashemite ruling house, are no longer desert nomads but organized in identifiable social frameworks in Jordan's cities.
Therefore, it is concluded that Abdullah has "Arabized" the Jordanian military by removing the Palestinian element as distinct from pure-blooded Arabs, the Bedouin.
2. He is conducting the same process in the top levels of government.
Our Middle East sources report that he has elevated three officials to the top of the pyramid: Prime minister
Nader al-Dahabi, who belongs to a family of Syrian origin which settled in Jordan in the last century; his half-brother Prince Faisal, assistant to the Air Force Chief who is now in line for promotion as chief of staff of the armed forces; and the director of General Intelligence, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Al Raqqad.
3. Not only were non-Bedouin officers' services terminated, but the king secretly ordered the general staff to stop recruiting them to the armed forces. Palestinians had been allowed to serve in Jordan's auxiliary units, such as transport, ordnance, quartermaster-general and surgeon-general. Not any more; those services are being purged of Palestinians.
4. By another secret order from the king, the Jordanian ministry of the interior has begun the process for revoking the Jordanian citizenship of Palestinians who relocated from the West Bank and Gaza Strip to the Hashemite Kingdom in the last 40 years. Jordan was unique in granting citizenship rights to Palestinians, a status not conferred by any other Arab government.
Be revoking their nationality, Abdullah aims to reduce the size of the Palestinian community so that it is no longer a majority.
5. Our sources also report that King Abdullah is planning a major cabinet reshuffle that will involve sacking six to eight ministers.

Farid Salman: "Jordan is an invention. Transjordan, which was an emirate, and later became the Hashemite Kingdom, is part of Palestine. Britain created it in order to crown one of the sons of Hussein, from the Arabian Peninsula, over part of Greater Syria - over Palestine. This continues to be the perpetual reason... Without removing it, the Palestinian issue will not be resolved. It's impossible."

Interviewer: "Some people in Israel talk about the Jordanian option..."

Farid Salman: "They are right."

Interviewer: "In the days of Abba Eban..."

Farid Salman: "We missed an opportunity with Abba Eban."

Interviewer: "This is why the Black September battles of 1969 and 1970 took place, and the crisis was shifted here, to Lebanon. But King Hussein stabilized his throne..."

Farid Salman: "It wasn't him. The English stabilized the throne. Glubb Pasha did it for his grandfather, and the English continue to do so to this day. The Israelis also [stabilized the Jordanian rule]. The Zionist regime in Israel is against peace. It doesn't want peace.

"Abba Eban was one of the most important people in Israel, but we did not know how to benefit from him, and eventually the Zionists got rid of him. They sent him to teach in America, thus removing him from the scene. He could see the truth.

"Today, I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I hear a Jordanian say that he is a Jordanian, and that there are Palestinian refugee camps in Jordan. He has forgotten that he is a Palestinian. Farid Salman: "We have turned the Right of Return into a casus belli... Let me tell you something - when a Palestinian state is established, and Jordan becomes the Palestinian state, along with the West Bank..."

Interviewer: "That is the solution, in your view?"

Farid Salman: "Of course. When this happens, we won't need Israeli approval for the resettlement... Once there is a Palestinian state, it will invite the Palestinians. Jordan can receive 30 million [Palestinians]. In New York alone, there are 20 million people."

Interviewer: "Do you think that we are at the beginning of a process of the collapse of regimes in the region?"

Farid Salman: "Of course."

Interviewer: "Like dominoes, one will lead to the toppling of the other?"

"There is a Plan to Increase the Number of Sunnis by Resettling the Palestinians in Lebanon"

Farid Salman: "Undoubtedly. There is no other solution for the Middle East. Who invented the story of refugee resettlement in Lebanon? Let's be clear - the Sunnis. Al-Hariri did, and his sister continues in his path. The Palestinian ambassador in Lebanon is their accomplice."

Interviewer: "Abbas Zaki?"

Salman: "Him, along with Fuad Siniora. There is a plan to increase the number of Sunnis by resettling the Palestinians in Lebanon. They are the ones talking about resettlement. The day the Palestinian issue is resolved, and they have a state - in Jordan, the West Bank, wherever it may be..."

Interviewer: "Arafat used to say: 'Give me a state even on the back of a donkey.'"

Farid Salman: "Wherever it may be... Half a million Palestinian in Lebanon will go to their state. End of story. We won't be needing the approval of Israel or the world. It will be their state, and they will be invited there. End of story."

For those of you who don't know your history or who some of the people mentioned are, I'll explain:

Jordan as a nation never truly existed in ancient history. There is mention of a Kingdom of Petra, the region that is now Jordan has been conquered by the the Persian Empire, the Seleucids, the Romans , and Muslim Arabs. So in ancient times no nation called Jordan ever existed. Nor did it exist until April 11, 1921 when Great Britain decided to reward their "good friend" Emir Abdullah with 78% of the Palestinian Mandate (that was reserved by the League of Nations for a homeland for Jews). Thus Jordan, or as it was called then, Trans-Jordan was born.

It was after the 6-Day War, when Israel finally regained control of the West Bank that Trans-Jordan became simply Jordan.

Thus in fact, Jordan is the true Palestinian nation.

Black September was an attempt by the PLO (headed by Yassir Arafat) to overthrow the government of Jordan and replace it with the PLO. The Jordanian military thwarted the attempted overthrow and assassination of King Hussein, and the Jordanian government kicked out removed the PLO and their supporters from Jordan. They fled to the only nation which would give them sanctuary: Lebanon.

Abba Eban was an Israeli statesman. Born in Cape Town, South Africa on February 2, 1915. a graduate of Queens College, Cambridge, he was Israel's first ambassador to the United Nations and was elected Vice President of the UN General Assembly in 1952. He is considered one of the fathers of modern Israel, and a giant in diplomatic circles. He set the tone for Israel's diplomatic efforts for the last 63 years. He died on November 17, 2002.

A bit of history. But the reality is that the 2 State Solution that is being touted by the EU, UN and the US is looking like a pipe(bomb) dream each and every day. The Palestinians do not want it, they want all the land from the river to the sea as the Hamas and PLO charters both specify. And now it is not just the far right who are opposing the 2 State Solution, it is the mainstream Israelis who oppose it too:

Minister of Strategic Affairs Moshe (Boogie) Yaalon believes that the time has come for Israel to “free itself from the failed paradigm” of the “two-state solution.” Yaalon spoke Tuesday at a meeting of MKs dedicated to finding an alternative to the creation of a Palestinian Authority-led Arab state.

While the creation of a PA-led state in Judea, Samaria and Gaza is perceived as a necessity both in Israel and worldwide, such a state would not solve the Israel-PA conflict, said Yaalon. In fact, he said, it is doubtful that the possibility of creating such a state exists, due to Arab and Muslim reluctance to take any step that would imply recognition of Israel or compromise on Arab claims to the entire Land of Israel.

Israel's mistake lies in accepting a-symmetrical talks with the PA, Yaalon said. From the beginning of talks, he explained, Israel has accepted the idea of a Palestinian national movement with the PA as its representative, while the PA has resolutely refused to accept the Jewish national movement of Zionism or the idea of a Jewish homeland in the land of Israel.

Furthermore, while the PA demands that Arabs and Muslims be allowed to live in Israel, Israel accepts that a PA state would not have Jewish citizens, he said. And while Israel gives in on crucial issues such as the status of Jerusalem or the borders of a PA state, the PA refuses to bend in the slightest.

No proposal that Netanyahu would bring to the negotiating table will ever satisfy the Palestinians, and no proposal that they bring would be allowed by any Israeli Knesset. Thus the region is at a stalemate, and this time President Obama will not be able to charm Netanyahu or the Israelis into making a deal that would effectively destroy their nation.

The time has come to recognize and remember the true history of the region, and sent the PA, Hamas and the rest of the Palestinians back to the two-thirds of the Palestinian Mandate, back to Jordan, the real state of Palestine!

Jordanian Father Beats To Death His 19 Yr Old Daughter For Wearing Makeup In Honor Killing

And wouldn't Mohammed be so proud. The disgusting news came out yesterday, seen here in this article at Yahoo News, that a Jordanian father (with the help of his two sons) beat to death his daughter for leaving the house with makeup on and for speaking to a stranger. Once again, upholding the "honor" of Islam has taken the life of one of the world's innocents. Here's some of the disgusting details:

Jordan's prosecutor has charged a man and his two sons for the premeditated murder of his 19-year-old daughter Saturday, in the latest "honour killing" to take place in this conservative desert kingdom.
The man and his two sons were charged with beating to death the daughter for leaving the house in makeup and talking to a stranger, according to prosecutor Salah al-Taleb's indictment sheet.
The father brought his daughter to the hospital after she lost consciousness and turned himself in.
Autopsy showed severe injuries to the head which caused brain hemorrhage and the body was covered with bruises.

Now, I don't know when the last time was I heard of an honor killing in Jordan so one might think this is a bit out of the ordinary....well, look at this line from the article:

In Jordan, an average of 20 women are killed by male relatives each year.

And that's REPORTED figures - I wonder how many young women and girls are killed in Jordan in this same manner and their deaths are reported as murders by strangers? And since we are talking about this maniacal killing of these innocents, these young girls and women...just where is the outrage from the women's groups in America? Are they scared of taking on Islam? I don't see American women's groups backing down from attacking Christians in America who may have objections to abortion in this country but I hear crickets when it comes to them attacking the islamists for this 8th century practice of honor killings.

Let's face it...these groups in America will march in the streets in defense of a woman's body in respect to her reproductive "rights" but when it comes to defending a woman's right to live, they are no where to be found. And that, to me, is even more disgusting than this poor woman's murder.

The man comes from the eastern Jordanian town of Zarqa, home of slain Iraqi al-Qaida leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi and known for its conservatism.
In Jordan, an average of 20 women are killed by male relatives each year. Men have the final say in all family matters in this largely conservative society, where many consider sex out of wedlock an indelible stain on a family's reputation.
International human rights organizations have condemned honour killings in Jordan and appealed to King Abdullah to put an end to the practice.
The government urged judges to consider honour killings equal to other homicides, punishable with up to life in prison.
But attempts to introduce harsher sentences have been blocked in Jordan's parliament, where the predominantly conservative Bedouin legislators argue that tougher penalties would lead to adultery.

U.S., Egypt, Jordan, Germany and Israel Working On Ceasefire Plan In Gaza

A ceasefire deal is being worked by the U.S. , Germany, Jordan and Israel but spearheaded by the Egyptians who are also in charge of communicating terms with Hamas. I am one of the last ones to wish any kind of ceasefire, because I simply want Hamas destroyed by Israel but as ceasefires go, this one doesn't sound half bad. I will explain below these experts from the story at DEBKA why I am not raising holy hell with these deliberations:

DEBKAfile's Washington sources disclose that Washington, Cairo, Amman and Jerusalem are hammering out the lines of a ceasefire deal that will be contingent on the state of combat in the Gaza Strip. Jerusalem accepts the proposition that the ceasefire lines will follow the lines of combat reached in the Gaza Strip in the fighting between Israel and Hamas. Egyptian and Jordanian forces will then enter the Gaza Strip.

Alongside the overt diplomatic drive for a ceasefire, Washington is quietly moving ahead on a package in conjunction with Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt – which is managing the Hamas track – and German chancellor Angela Merkel. Israel will hold the lines established on the day the ceasefire went into effect for a two-three month trial period. Egyptian and Jordanian units will remain in the enclave until a pre-set date. An international mechanism will prevent Hamas from rearming.

The points I like about this plan are this:

1. The ceasefire lines will be drawn at the battle lines when the ceasefire is called - this means that the Israelis will have successfully blocked off a huge portion of northern Gaza that would give southern Israel some good relief from rocket attacks.

2. Egyptian and Jordanian units, NOT U.N. units will be in place in Gaza to monitor the ceasefire. You might say that the Egyptians and Jordanians would certainly allow Hamas to rearm but we can't forget that both of these countries do NOT want Hamas to get any stronger - and at the same time, Egypt knows that if all falls apart, they will probably see a huge exodus attempted into Egypt by the palis.

Now, why am I even considering this plan? Why don't I want the IDF to simply continue? Well, I've come to the conclusion that in order for Israel to make this operation a total success, they would have to do one or both of two things:

1. Israel is finding that it is simply impossible to completely root Hamas out of Gaza without inflicting HUGE civilian deaths. Israel, at the moment, does not have the stomach to see 10,000 to 30,000 civilian deaths pinned on their operation.

2. Israeli troops would have to stay for a very long time in Gaza - in order to keep Hamas from reappearing and rearming, Israel would, in essence, have to occupy Gaza for probably a minimum of two years. The world is having a huge problem with this operation alone...imagine what would happen if Israel would announce an occupation? Israel's politicians are not ready to jeopardize some ally relationships with this...especially with the new American President coming into office who they do not wish to give a reason to side with the palis.

Do not misunderstand me. I don't advocate this...if I were in charge in Israel I would tell the world that we are going into Gaza City full bore and that due to Hamas' integration with civilians, there will be major civilian deaths and injuries. I would then have all inhabitants of the urban areas of Gaza warned of the impending operation and give them a week to leave the cities. They I would turn those cities and Hamas into dust. That is what I would do, but the Israelis will not.

Egyptian intelligence minister Gen. Omar Suleiman outlined this deal for the Hamas delegation, headed by operations chief, Imad Al Alami, which arrived in Cairo Monday night, after finally agreeing to discuss a truce. It was clear to both sides that he was dictating honorable terms for a Hamas capitulation, as Israeli forces entered the third and most dangerous phase of their Gaza offensive, the entry into Gaza's densely built-up areas.
Tuesday saw heavy Israeli-Hamas street battles in Gaza City after a night of heavy Israeli aerial and naval bombardment. Israel forces engaged Hamas in Khan Younis in the south and hit the southern arms smuggling tunnels of the Philadelphi route and Rafah by air and land.
Hamas attacked the Israeli troops holding the Netzarim belt cutting Gaza City off from the south at Deir al Balakh.
This phase of Israel's Operation Cast Lead follows Phase 1, the heavy aerial bombardment of Hamas military and government infrastructure, and Phase 2, the ground, tank and artillery incursion on Jan. 1, which split the 360-sq km Gaza Strip into three segments.
The outcome of the toughest challenge of the ongoing Phase 3 for flushing out Hamas operatives mingling with urban populations and reducing their rocket-firing capabilities will determine the ceasefire lines for ending the conflict. Meanwhile Hamas was still able to keep up its constant rocket and missile fire by Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 6.
Our diplomatic sources report that the German chancellor's involvement in the US initiative has left French president Nicolas Sarkozy and his 48-hour humanitarian ceasefire proposal more or less standing. In any case, it was rejected by Israel except for his proposal to open a corridor for wounded Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip for treatment.
The next UN Security Council meeting on the Gaza crisis is also likely to break up for a second time without accord on a ceasefire resolution.

Israel Slams Jordan For Cozying Up To Hamas

I blogged about the new relationship between Hamas and Jordan a few weeks ago and now, the Israelis are not happy about this historic reversal on Jordan's part. Here's what the Israelis are saying according to the report at Haaretz:

Israel on Wednesday criticized Jordanian overtures to the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas, saying the Hashemite Kingdom's reversal of long-standing policy is "unhelpful to the peace process.

And here's the details about what Jordan is up to:

In an about-face, Jordan is reaching out to Hamas amid fears that a collapse of Mideast peacemaking would bring an influx of refugees. But the U.S. ally must walk a delicate line to avoid angering its U.S. and Israeli friends. Hamas is outlawed in Jordan, which has accused the group in the past of trying to destabilize it. But Jordanian intelligence chief Mohammed al-Dahabi held two covert meetings with top Hamas leaders this month, ending a nearly decade-long banishment of the group.

Now, I've put forth some theories on why Jordan would take this step - one being a genuine fear of being on the wrong side of Iran but I think it is more likely that Jordan is more concerned about the wave of al Qaeda spreading into Jordan upon their demise in Iraq and also, the growing al Qaeda presence in Gaza.

It's my opinion that the Jordanians fear some real reprisals from al Qaeda for past crackdowns and the Jordanians are trying to have a "rent a thug" in the region, namely Hamas.

Pretty crazy, huh? Well, the Jordanians have been a waiting prize for the terrorists for a long time and with this move by Jordan, what they have already done is piss off Israel and that will be a long term mistake for them. Jordan has enjoyed a relationship with Israel that has been at least calm for many years and considering the bad stuff that eventually will explode in the Middle East, I'm not so sure the Jordanians have really thought this out.

Israel slams Jordan's talks with Hamas as 'unhelpful to peace process'

The talks don't mean Jordan, which signed a 1994 peace deal with Israel, is embracing the militant group or is turning its back on Arab-Israeli negotiations. But the kingdom has clearly decided it's better to rebuild a relationship with Hamas than keep shunning it as an enemy amid doubts over the peace process' future. "We're at a crossroads and Jordan must protect itself and its national interests," said former Jordanian parliament speaker Abdul-Latif Arabiyat. Jordan fears that the possible failure of Palestinian-Israeli peace talks backed by the Bush administration, which leaves office early next year, could embolden Hamas in the neighboring West Bank, as well as Muslim extremists in Jordan and across the Mideast. Quiet contacts with Hamas could mollify any fallout for Jordan if that happens. Also, Jordan is worried a failure of talks will revive Israeli hardliner calls for ejecting West Bank Palestinians to Jordan or for parts of the West Bank to form a confederation with the kingdom as an alternative to an independent state. Jordan, which ruled the West Bank from 1950 to 1967, strongly opposes such a move, as do Hamas and other Palestinians. Jordan's worries are demographic: Roughly half of its 5.8 million population are of Palestinian descent, from families that were displaced to the kingdom in two wars with Israel since 1948. Jordan is ruled by an elite drawn from its native, Bedouin-rooted clans. Another flood of Palestinians could overwhelm Jordan and even spark civil unrest. In 1970, the Palestine Liberation Organization tried to overthrow Jordan's Hashemite monarchy by setting up a Palestinian government. But Jordan fought a bloody war, known as "Black September," as it evicted the PLO from its territory. Jordan's contacts with Hamas have already irked Israel and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, whose U.S.-backed Palestinian Authority controls the West Bank and has been battling to end Hamas' takeover of the Gaza Strip last year. Abbas sent his interior minister, Abdel Razak Yehiye, to Jordan last week to "find out what the Jordanians are up to and if their contacts with Hamas meant dropping support for the Palestinian Authority," said an Amman-based Palestinian official, insisting on anonymity citing diplomatic sensitivities. Israeli Embassy spokesman Itai Bardov in Amman called Jordan's contacts with Hamas "unhelpful to the peace process." "We're against any negotiations with Hamas because we regard it as a terrorist movement," he said. "We should find ways to strengthen the Palestinian Authority instead of legitimizing Hamas, which made an illegal military coup in Gaza."

Hamas Supreme Leader Meshal To Return To Jordan For Visit

This is REALLY not a good sign. Hamas' Supreme Leader, Khaled Meshal, who has been cowering in fear for nearly a decade in Syria after being thrown out of Jordan, is set to return to Jordan for a visit which includes meetings with Jordanian officials. As a refresher, Meshal is considered by Israel to be the mastermind behind most of the militant activities of Hamas and thus when Meshal was in Jordan in 1997, Israeli secret agents poisoned this piece of shit but Meshal survived when Jordan's King Hussein insisted that Israel send an antedote. Two years later, the Jordanians kicked this fool out and he fled to Syria. Considering what Israel tried on him, Meshal has been a little squeamish about setting up shop in Gaza. Anyway, here's some of the details of this visit to Jordan here from Haaretz:

Ten years after his exile from Jordan, Hamas' Damascus-based leader Khaled Meshal will return there for a visit, Saudi Arabic-language newspaper Al-Watan reported Monday. The newspaper quoted members of Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood movement as saying that Meshal's consent to the Jordanian leadership's demands that he not take part in Hamas' affairs in Jordan, helped pave the way for his upcoming visit. According to the report, Meshal is expected to arrive in Jordan within the next few days, and will meet with senior Jordanian officials as a follow-up round to recent talks between two Hamas officials and Jordan's intelligence chief , Mohammed al-Thahabi.

The disturbing part of all of this is the legitimacy that Jordan is starting to give Hamas. Jordan, in the past, has basically kicked Hamas out of Jordan and would have nothing to do with them, but I fear that with Hamas strengthening in Gaza coupled with Hezbollah's political gains in Lebanon, Jordan has gotten nervous about Iran's reach into the region.

This all might be a bit of political ass covering by the Jordanians but the fact that Jordanian intelligence officials will even meet with this scum means they are more than likely going to take a more serious stance against Israel.

It's my feeling that the complete wishy washy policies of Israel's Olmert has caused this shift in Jordan - Olmert has shown that he would give Hamas free reign and plenty of slack, thus the Jordanians have to have been getting quite nervous. What the Jordanians don't understand is, that in inviting Meshal to Jordan, they have let the wolf into the chicken coop. If Hamas establishes relations once again with Jordan, and Israel ends up replaces Olmert with a hard liner, this could mean some serious shit for Jordan in the long run.

Report: After ten years in exile, Hamas' Meshal to visit Jordan

Ten years after his exile from Jordan, Hamas' Damascus-based leader Khaled Meshal will return there for a visit, Saudi Arabic-language newspaper Al-Watan reported Monday. The newspaper quoted members of Jordan's Muslim Brotherhood movement as saying that Meshal's consent to the Jordanian leadership's demands that he not take part in Hamas' affairs in Jordan, helped pave the way for his upcoming visit. According to the report, Meshal is expected to arrive in Jordan within the next few days, and will meet with senior Jordanian officials as a follow-up round to recent talks between two Hamas officials and Jordan's intelligence chief , Mohammed al-Thahabi.

The talks were aimed at patching up ties, as relations between the two sides have soured since 2006 by charges that the Islamist Palestinian group was planning to carry out attacks in Jordan. Relations between Hamas and Jordan began deteriorating in 1999 when Jordan forced Hamas leaders to suspend their activities in the Hashemite Kingdom, a move which led to Hamas' departure. Hamas' leader in the Gaza Strip Ismail Haniyeh said on Friday that recent contacts with Jordan could help reconcile Hamas with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' secular Fatah faction. "These are positive developments and a beginning which we hope will succeed," Haniyeh said during Friday prayers at a Gaza mosque.

Jordan Jails Three Hamas Arrested For Terrorist Plots

Good for Jordan. They nabbed these three Hamas thugs a couple of years ago and now, hopefully, they will put them away for a long, long time.

One of the clowns got 15 years in a Jordanian prison while the other two got five years. And it states also in the article that the one Hamas prisoner has detailed out how the plan was working and although Jordan is not implicating Syria and Iran, the fingerprints are there.

Jordan better get used to acting tough on these terrorists as there will be many more to take the place of these chumps. Jordan's willingness to work with Israel from time to time as well as their ties to the U.S. make them a prime target - luckily for the Jordanians, they have a damn good security network set up (and it was top security officals that were targeted by these Hamas for killing) and they keep the misift palestinians out of the neighborhood.

The state security court sentenced Ayman Naji Hamdallah, 35, to 15 years in jail for "plotting to carry out terrorist attacks" in Jordan in 2006.The court jailed Ali Ahmad Abu Rabei, 28, and Ahmad Nemer Abu Thiab, 30 for five years each for "illegal possession of explosives and weapons."Hamdallah has said he made frequent trips to Syria and led the Jordanian authorities about a weapons cache, including Iranian-made Katyusha rockets, in the north of the kingdom.Iran, Syria and Hamas have denied any involvement in the alleged plot, although Amman has not accused Tehran or Damascus of implication.

Jordan Releases Leading Al Qaeda Mentor

Every day there seems to be something more stupid done in the War on Terror than the day before. Jordan has had Abu Mohammad al-Maqdisi locked up for four years and yesterday, decides to release him. My question is simply, Why? Here's what is said of al-Maqdisi:

1. who was regarded as the spiritual mentor of slain al Qaeda leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi
2. U.S. intelligence officials say Maqdisi is a major Jihadi mentor who wields more influence over Islamist ideology than leading militants such as Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahri.
3. A study by a private think tank of the U.S. military academy West Point in 2006 described Maqdisi, a self-taught religious intellectual, as the most influential living Islamist mentor.

It's my feeling that a number of these Arab countries are flat out running scared. They are scared to death of the Iranians having the bomb and they are seeing al Qaeda growing each day within the region. Well, if Jordan sees this as some sort of "olive branch" they will soon learn their lesson. I wonder how long it will be before the net result of this is the development of the next al-Zarqawi?

AMMAN (Reuters) - Jordanian authorities on Wednesday released Jordanian Sheikh Abu Mohammad al-Maqdisi, a leading al-Qaeda mentor, after several years imprisonment without trial, security sources said.
They said Maqdisi, who was regarded as the spiritual mentor of slain al Qaeda leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, had been in solitary confinement since he was rearrested in July 2005 following his acquittal at a trial of al Qaeda sympathizers.
"He was released," said one security source without elaborating on the circumstances of the release of Maqdisi.
The militant Jihadi shared a cell block with Zarqawi for four years between 1995 and 1999. Both were freed in an amnesty. Zarqawi later went to Afghanistan then Iraq.

Jordan Joins Long List of Countries Condemning Israeli Settlement Plans

Well, I'm not going to get into all of the plans Israel has for building additional settlements in East Jerusalem and the West Bank, but want to focus on the growing list of countries that are condemning the plans. Jordan joined that list of countries today with this statement:

"rejects Israel's unilateral measures, particularly expanding settlements,"

Now, what I want to point out that within hours and days of Israel's announcement of new settlement plans, Jordan has joined the likes of the United States and pretty much all of Europe in condemning these plans as a threat to peace.

Anyone else out there notice how quickly the countries line up to criticize the Israelis on this issue when it took days and days for most of the World, including the U.N. to condemn the mass murder of Israeli children in the seminary massacre in Jerusalem? How two-faced can these political leaders be?

Jordan, sits on it hands while terrorists spill the blood of innocent teen agers yet spring to the microphone to cry out against expanding homes! Ridiculous.

Jordan condemns Israeli settlement plans

AMMAN (AFP) - Jordan on Monday condemned Israeli plans to build hundreds of new homes in occupied east Jerusalem and the West Bank, saying they "obstruct" regional peace efforts.

Israeli authorities said on Monday they planned to build a new Jewish settlement of around 400 homes in the annexed eastern part of Jerusalem, which Palestinians want as the capital of their promised state.
At the weekend Israel also announced plans to build hundreds of new housing units in a settlement in the West Bank.
Palestinian officials have denounced the decision, saying it would shatter efforts to relaunch the peace process that has been stagnant since it was revived in late November.
