UhOh....Russians Arrest Chinese Spy

Here we go...the power play between two age old rivals has some new friction between them as Russia has announced that their intelligence service has arrested a Chinese spy.

From the article at Breitbart:

Russia's intelligence service said Wednesday it has detained an alleged Chinese spy who tried to obtain designs of an advanced missile system as part of Beijing's efforts to update its weaponry.

The Chinese national, who worked as an interpreter for visiting Chinese officials, made attempts to buy documentation for the S-300 long-range surface-to-air missile system, the Federal Security Service said in a statement.

Prosecutors submitted the case to the Moscow City Court Wednesday, although the man was detained late last October, it said.

The truck-mounted S-300 is capable of shooting down aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missile warheads at ranges of over 90 miles (144 kilometers) and at altitudes of about 90,000 feet (27,432 meters).

I gotta be honest - I wouldn't mind seeing the Russians and Chinese get into a pissing match about now - I actually think it could help in a roundabout way with Iran...where the Chinese might take offense to the Russian collaboration with Iran on nuclear weapons and so, if down the line and America actually gets a President with the sense to organize an attack on Iran, the Chinese will sign up to support it.

Either way, it doesn't hurt us one bit to have these two asshole countries sparring with each other.

By the way, look for the Chinese to announce the arrest of a Russian diplomat on spying charges in the next few days.

Russia claims to have detained Chinese spy

MOSCOW (AP) - Russia's intelligence service said Wednesday it has detained an alleged Chinese spy who tried to obtain designs of an advanced missile system as part of Beijing's efforts to update its weaponry.

In recent years, Russia banned the sale of the S-300 systems to Iran and Syria following international pressure.

Beijing has for decades been a No. 1 buyer of Russian weapons, including aircraft and submarines. Chinese developers often combine old Soviet platforms with new Chinese technology.
