Okay, let me set the stage for this debacle of justice that just went down in a New York court. We have the NYC terrorist who was plotting to blow up NYC subways, that guy is Najibullah Zazi. Okay, so right when Zazi was getting to the pinnacle of his plot, he got a phone call from a guy, actually an Afghan islamic imam living in New York City and "preaching" in a NYC mosque, telling him that he was under FBI surveillance and because of that tip off, Zazi put th kibash on his bombing plot and fled from NYC to Colorado. That squealer, that imam named Ahmad Wais Afzali, was later arrested by the FBI for lying to them about tipping off Zazi. So Afzali, the imam, gets put in jail until trial - that trial is now over because the reall "ballsy" prosecutor struck a plea deal so a terrorist sympathizer and co-conspirator ends up being in jail for 6 months and then receives the sentence of voluntarily leaving America within 3 months.
That's it.
From the story at AFP:
Which leads me to the question, Where the sam hell is the tough penalties in America for convicted terrorists and co-conspirators? We have convicted terrorists being released from Gitmo and sent to tropical islands, we have murderers of 3,000 Americans being promised a tv showcased trial in civilian courts and now, we have a foreign imam, preaching terrorism in our midst who gets off with an exit pass from our Country - of course, he gets 3 months time to put his affairs in order and make sure the next terror plot is brought to completion.
That's it.
From the story at AFP:
"He was sentenced to time served and ordered to self-deport within 90 days," court spokesman Robert Nardoza told AFP.So, did you see that "heart wrenching" statement from the terrorist imam? Boo hoo... I'll die if I leave America 'cuz I gots the diabetes! Fuck you, Afzali - if it was up to people like me, you wouldn't have to wait for the diabetes to shut down your damn kidneys...your death would be at the end of a rope from a temporary gallows in downtown Manhattan.
The imam pleaded guilty in March to making false statements to Federal Bureau of Investigation agents investigating Najibullah Zazi, an Afghan immigrant who has since confessed to conspiring to bomb New York.
According to prosecutors, Afzali telephoned Zazi to warn him that he was being watched. Zazi subsequently abandoned the bomb plot and returned from New York to his home in Colorado.
Afzali, a permanent resident working as an imam at a New York mosque but not a US citizen, made a plea agreement which saw him face a reduced prison sentence of up to six months.
He remained free on bail ahead of the sentencing, but told reporters in March that "I just signed my death sentence" after the plea deal because he was diabetic and that abroad he would not be able to get proper treatment.

US court orders expulsion of Afghan imam
NEW YORK — An Afghanistan-born imam who admitted he lied to the FBI over an aborted terror plot against the New York subway system was freed Thursday but ordered to leave the country within three months, a court official said.
Ahmad Wais Afzali, 39, appeared in Brooklyn federal court where a judge determined that he had already spent enough time in prison after his arrest in September.
"He was sentenced to time served and ordered to self-deport within 90 days," court spokesman Robert Nardoza told AFP.

Bomb-plotter Zazi pleaded guilty to three charges: conspiracy to use weapons of mass destruction, conspiracy to commit murder in a foreign country and providing material support to the Al-Qaeda Islamist network.
He faces life in prison for the first two charges and 15 years for the third. However, his plea appeared to be part of a bargain in which he could receive more lenient punishment in return for cooperating with investigators.
Sentencing is set for June 25.

If he is not a citizen, he's a criminal who committed yet another crime. If he is a citizen, he committed treason and should be shot.
dprosenthal,
Well, he's not a citizen but the fact of the matter is that a spineless prosecutor cut a deal with him to let him leave the country.
