Sunday Afternoon Gaza Update: Three Top Hamas Dead, Dead and Dead

Good news from the IDF Gaza operation via the article here at CNN - the Israelis have offed three nice top Hamas leaders/commanders in both southern and northern Gaza. Two of these asshats who are at room temperature now were responsible for a lot of the long range Grad missiles that had started flying deeper into Israel in the past couple of weeks. Here's some of the great details:

Israeli forces killed three senior members of Hamas' military wing on Sunday, Hamas sources told CNN.
One was killed near Jabalya and the other two died in an airstrike in southern Gaza, the sources said.
Housam Hamdan and Mohammed Hilou -- both senior members of the Izzedine al-Qassam Brigades -- were killed in an airstrike in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, Hamas sources said.

The Israeli military said it was targeting the two senior Hamas members but gave no indication of their status.
Israel Defense Forces said Hamdan is responsible for firing long-range Grad rockets into Beer Sheva and Ofakim in southern Israel. IDF said Hilou is a commander of Hamas special forces in Khan Yunis and is also responsible for launching long-range rocket attacks at Israel.
Hamas sources said Israeli forces in Jabalya killed Mohammed Shalpokh, a member of Hamas commando forces which Israel blames for launching rockets from northern Gaza.
The Israeli military said on Sunday Israeli missiles targeted 45 Hamas locations overnight, including the Hamas intelligence headquarters. During the day, the Israeli Air Force attacked over 15 targets, including the three senior Hamas members, as well as rocket-launching sites and squads, armed gunmen, and a smuggling tunnel, the military said.
I gotta tell you folks, it's getting pretty tough to find battle and airstrike wins by the Israelis - every story that actually DOES have some of this good news either has it buried in the middle or some one liner out of nowhere in the article. What that means is I basically have to read through all of the MSM propaganda about dead children and women and goats and shit before there's any meat to the report.

Anyway, I'll keep searching and hopefully, the IDF and IAF will keep killing.

Palestinian medical sources: 507 now killed in Gaza

The Israeli military said the ground incursion is the second phase of the operation to stop militants from firing rockets and mortars into southern Israel.
Four Israelis -- one soldier and three civilians -- have been killed in the ongoing rocket strikes, Israeli officials said.
At least 30 rockets, including 12 Grad rockets, were launched from Gaza into southern Israel on Sunday, the IDF said.
One Israeli was slightly wounded when a rocket landed in the southern Israeli city of Ashdod, according to Israeli ambulance services.
With those deaths, at least 507 Palestinians, including about 100 women and children, have been killed in the week-long military operation, and 2,600 Palestinians have been injured, most of them civilians, sources said.
An Israeli soldier was killed and another was seriously wounded near Jabalya in northern Gaza, according to the Israeli military. It marks the first Israeli military death since the ground operation was launched Saturday night.

Yeah, the biased liberal press are a real piece of work. I read that newspapers may try to get in on the outpouring of "stimulus." Personally, I could care less if they all go bankrupt and good riddance. Perhaps the news outlets that rise from the ashes would learn to respect the truth more ...but I doubt it.

Anyway keep up the good work. I and your other readers appreciate your efforts. If you're not doing it already, perhaps some very specific Google alerts might yield some additional news nuggets.

Hamas hiding behind women and children. Typical terrorists.

Brent, thanks - it's not just the MSM...with Israel not allowing any news correspondents into Gaza and keeping a very tight lid on Israeli TV, the strategic reports are few and far between - I know this, the Israelis are making helluva lot more progress than we know at this time.

Holger, I hear you on the news blackout. I'm sort of glad that Israel is doing that in some ways. With "journalists" laying in wait to twist every story into something that makes Israel look bad - I can't say I blame them. But as a news junkie, I wish I knew more :) but I can wait.

p.s. I meant to ask - just what is being shown in the photo you used for this post? It's striking but I'm curious as to exactly what it is. Thanks.

Brent,

Sorry, but I don't know what exactly that photo is showing - perhaps one of our fellow readers can help us out with that!
