Too bloody cool, eh? Let's cut to the report that came out on a jihadist web site frequented by al Qaeda reported here at Reuters:
Obviously, this is wonderful news to have this puke dead and gone and it appears that the other, al-Qahtani, wasn't small potatoes either, but I find the most interesting part of this being the fact that they were in Afghanistan - after being in Iraq.
The fact that al Qaeda didn't explain why al-Otaibi left is pretty easy to understand - he was scared to death to stay in Iraq! I was hoping to see some of this - some of the senior leadership of al Qaeda in Iraq start showing up other places. This reveals, to me anyway, that things indeed are going bad for al Qaeda in Iraq and I'm sure this piece of shit thought he could hide out on some mountain top in Afghanistan. His problem was that he picked a province in Afghanistan that is seeing a nice push by U.S. and Afghan forces.
The other issue that might explain some of these al Qaeda showing up in Afghanistan is a vacuum of leadership in Taliban ranks as well as more expertise needed in suicide bombings.
Whichever way it worked out, it's good to see an asshat like this run from Iraq with his tail between his legs and even better to see him as worm food now.
A prominent member of al Qaeda was killed in fighting with U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan, the group said in a statement posted on an Islamist website on Sunday.
Abu Suleiman al-Otaibi, formerly one of the group's leaders in Iraq, was killed in a "fierce battle with the worshipers of the cross" in Paktia, it said without giving the date of the battle.
Another al Qaeda member, identified as Abu Dejana al-Qahtani, also died in the fighting, it added.
The leader of al Qaeda in Afghanistan Mustafa Abu al-Yazid said Qahtani left Iraq about six months ago without giving further details.

Qaeda says key member killed in Afghanistan - web
DUBAI, May 11 (Reuters) - A prominent member of al Qaeda was killed in fighting with U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan, the group said in a statement posted on an Islamist website on Sunday.
Otaibi was the head of the judiciary at the self-styled Islamic State in Iraq, a group started by al Qaeda and fellow Sunni militant groups.
Violence has been at its worst level in Afghanistan since 2006, the bloodiest period since the removal of the al Qaeda-backed Taliban in 2001.
U.S.-led forces toppled the Taliban government in 2001 after its leaders refused to hand over Osama bin Laden and his top aides to the United States for trial for the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on U.S. cities.
