Taliban Commander And Five Others Captured In Eastern Afghanistan

Great News! U.S. and Afghan forces nabbed a high level commander of the Taliban and five of his henchmen in eastern Afghanistan today and although that is good enough news, this commander apparently has been a mastermind of a suicide bomb network so this capture makes it all the more sweet. This from the article here at Press TV:

Five militants and a rebel commander, who was "directly" involved in the preparation of suicide attacks in eastern Afghanistan, were detained Friday in a joint operation, the coalition military said Monday in a statement. "The militant leader Mohammad Ghanam "has conducted attacks against coalition bases throughout Afghanistan," the statement said without providing details of the attacks, AFP reported.
I've said it time and time again that in Iraq and Afghanistan, for every leader/commander that we capture, not only do we diminish the effectiveness of the troop jihadists but we usually get abasolutely TONS of intel out of subsequent interrogations. Hopefull, this piece of shit will sing like a songbird and we will be able to really step into the Taliban operations in eastern Afghanistan.

Sidenote: Apparently the reporter of this article faces a fatwa if he actually uses the word "Taliban." : )

Rebel commander arrested in Afghanistan

Afghan security forces and US-led troops have arrested six militants, including a rebel commander, in the eastern province of Khost.

He was also directly involved in the preparation of vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices," it added. Bomb-filled jackets and other ammunition were also found in the compounds where the men were caught, the statement said, adding that troops destroyed the weapons at the site. Ghanam was part of the Haqqani network, the statement said, referring to a group headed by key Taliban-linked militant leader, Jalaluddin Haqqani, part of an insurgency against government and foreign forces in eastern Afghanistan.
