Hamas Ready To Accept Yemeni Deal With Fatah

This is a story that isn't getting a whole lot of press but it is pretty interesting. For some unknown reason, the dipshits from Yemen have taken an interest in brokering a deal between Fatah and Hamas regarding the Gaza Strip. This is how the article from Khaleej Times states it:

The Yemeni initiative calls for the situation in Gaza to return to the way it was before Hamas seized control of the territory last June and for early Palestinian elections to be held, conditions endorsed by Abbas and so far rejected by Hamas.
First off, I have no idea why Yemen has come out of the blue to be so concerned about Gaza but at the same time, Hamas more than likely is restless, as I posted yesterday, about a full summer upcoming in Gaza. Also, I personally believe that Hamas may be trying to see if they can't force more Pali elections in an effort to further force out Abbas. Although it says that Abbas supports the conditions, I find it hard to believe that Hamas wants to give up control in any way so I see this as manuevering for them to see if they can't build greater support of the Pali people so they can regain some footing on the West Bank.

So the net result is Hamas is going to Yemen to accept the initiative - it will be interesting to see what Fatah's take is on this - let's face it, the relationship between Fatah and Hamas changes daily. My guess is that Fatah will accept the initiative but with further conditions, Hamas will then get pissed off and shoot a couple of Fatah members and we'll be off to the races again.

Hamas accepts Yemen reconciliation initiative

DUBAI - A top Hamas official said on Tuesday his group was ready to accept a Yemeni initiative for reconciliation with the rival Fatah, but did not say if that means it accepts to relinquish its grip over the Gaza strip.
The Yemeni initiative calls for the situation in Gaza to return to the way it was before Hamas seized control of the territory last June and for early Palestinian elections to be held, conditions endorsed by Abbas and so far rejected by Hamas.
“The visit is to meet (Yemeni) President Ali Abdullah Saleh ... and inform him of the movement’s acceptance of the Yemeni initiative,” Hamas deputy politburo chief Moussa Abu Marzouk told Al Jazeera television in Sanaa where Fatah officials were due to meet Saleh.
