Operation Iron Reaper

Al Qaeda in Iraq: Prepare to meet your...well...prepare to kiss this world, goodbye.

As Coalition Forces have successfully pushed al Qaeda in Iraq further and further north, Operation Iron Reaper has been implemented to squeeze them in the far northern provinces. Al Qaeda is going to find itself with Coalition and IA forces on one side, Awakening council tribes on another and on a third side, the Kurds. Reminder, the Kurds would love to eat a feast of al Qaeda, any old time.

This is exactly what a lot of us were hoping for in that General Petraeus would continue the constant pressure on al Qaeda as they flush them out of strongholds. The key is to not let up on al Qaeda - they are experts at regrouping...so this latest operation will keep them moving, hiding and in a lot of cases...dying.

Hopefully, the death count of al Qaeda will soar and more and more leaders will be captured and spill their guts.

You really should read all of the details here from Multi-National-Force-Iraq:

Iron Reaper continues pursuit of al-Qaeda

CONTINGENCY OPERATING BASE SPEICHER, Iraq – Task Force Iron – the multinational division responsible for operations north of Baghdad – launched another operation involving four U.S. brigade combat teams and three different Iraqi Army divisions across the northern provinces of Iraq, Nov 27.
The purpose of Operation Iron Reaper is to continue the pursuit of al-Qaeda and set the conditions for continued reconciliation efforts in key northern provinces.
Task Force Iron’s previous division-level operation, Operation Iron Hammer, began the process of improving security in the north and set in motion reconciliation efforts. The reconciliation paved the way for the signing of 6,000 Concerned Local Citizens.
Iron Reaper should create similar results for the security of residents in northern Iraq.

I am afraid we're getting nowhere in this war.

What?

1. Iraqi casualty levels are significantly down to levels of March of '06
2. U.S. troop level casualties down significantly as well.
3. Al Qaeda has been driven from Anbar province, from Baghdan and most of Diyala province.
4. Al Sadr's militias have put their weapons away.
5. There are now over a dozen tribal "awakening" councils dedicated to wiping out al Qaeda
and
6. Enlistments in the IA and police divisions is soaring.

Now, if you call that getting "nowhere" then you're on a different planet.

If you are simply venting because you were against the war from the start, then you are in the wrong place for commenting.
