Iranian commander: We have targets within America

Is it hot air or is it a valid threat?

The story comes from Family Security Matters.

Iranian commander: We have targets within America

A top commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards boasted Saturday that his forces have plans in place to attack the United States from within, should the U.S. attack the Islamic Republic.

"America, with its strategic ignorance, does not have a full understanding of the power of the Islamic Republic," Brig. Gen. Hossein Salami said in a televised interview. "We have recognized America's military strategy, and have arranged our abilities, and have identified centers in America [for attack] that will create a shock."

Reports indicate that terrorist Hezbollah forces - allies of Iran - have infiltrated the U.S. and have mapped out targets.

"We will conduct such a blow in which they [America] will be destroyed from within," Salami said.

This is the second warning by a high-ranking officer of the Guards in two weeks. The chief commander of the Guards, Maj. Gen. Mohammad Jafari, addressing Secretary of State John Kerry, said on Jan. 24 that a direct conflict with America is the "strongest dream of the faithful and revolutionary men around the world."

Kerry had previously said that if Iran did not live up to the agreement reached in Geneva on its nuclear program, "all options are on the table."

"Your threats to revolutionary Islam are the best opportunity," Jafari had said. "Muslim leaders for years have been preparing us for a decisive battle.... Do you know how many thousands of revolutionary Muslims at the heart of the Islamic revolutionary groups around the world are awaiting for you to take this [military] option from the table into action?"

Gen. Salami went further, saying the Revolutionary Guards have taken into consideration America's military ability and different scenarios under which the U.S. could attack Iran via a limited missile or air strike, or even a ground attack.

"All operational bases of the enemy in the region in whatever capacity and location are within our firepower," Salami warned. "The American military option does not make a difference for us, and they can use this option, but they will have to accept the responsibility of devastating consequences."

Salami asked whether America could control the spread of any war with the Islamic Republic: "Can they preserve their vital interest in the region in the face of endless attacks by Iran? Can they keep their naval assets and the Zionist regime [Israel] secure?"

Salami said that with the U.S. economy and debt, America is in no position to engage Iran militarily.

The general then taunted Washington, citing Iran's political and cultural influence in Iraq. "The current has changed for the Americans so much so that they invest [by invading Iraq] and others [Iran] benefit."

Regarding Syria, Salami said the United States does not have the ability to interfere in a country that has been engaged in a civil war for several years.

"The Americans cannot even conduct a military operation there," Salami said. "[T]he conditions and the factors that facilitate the exercise of military power for them have for years been destroyed and today they (the Americans) are in an erosion of political, cultural and military power."

The general said there are thousands of brigades ready to confront America both within the Islamic Republic and outside the country. He then warned Iran's politicians to remain strong during the negotiations over Iran's nuclear program and - based on the might of the country - not give in to U.S. demands.

Iran and the 5+1 world powers (the five permanent U.N. Security Council members plus Germany) reached an interim agreement in Geneva in November over the regime's illicit nuclear program. Under the six-month agreement, Iran, in return for billions of dollars in sanctions relief, will keep much of its nuclear infrastructure, is limited to enriching uranium at the 5 percent level for six months, will convert its highly enriched uranium of 20 percent to harmless oxide, and will allow more intrusive inspections of its nuclear plants by the International Atomic Energy Agency, which will be limited to searching only agreed-on facilities.

Iran, which has started to implement the first phase of the Geneva agreement, acknowledged receipt of the first installment of released funds and that over $500 million has been deposited into the country's bank account in Switzerland.

The Islamic Republic spends billions of dollars supporting the terrorist group Hezbollah, its network of terror cells around the world and the Assad regime in Syria solidifying his grip on the country.

Please be advised that the moment any deaths are caused in teh USA by Iranians regardless of reason or affiliation. If any Iranians are involved, I Obama , president of these United States of America will immediately cause to be launched a nuclear strike on Iran with all attending consequences to be born by Iran.

Why not decide for yourselves. Every action, has a reaction. If you don't want the reaction, then don't perpetrate the action.

It's not 1953. You won't be able to pull it off so easily today.

Think twice before you committ another blowback error.

If there are Iranian agents in America, how many entered the country by going across our largely unprotected borders?

Good Col the voice of reason. Let there be no doubt that a scnario has been gamed by teh pentago with respect to Iran. It need only be refined a wee bit then executed. No second thought required. Most normal people do not Iran with a bomb American ISrael Eurpoean Asian Iran funds Terror groupd, Arms terror groups and has used Terror groups to move forward its own foreign policy. The sooner teh Mad Mullahs are gone teh better Iran will be. As for Agents of Iran in teh US. I have no doubt they are given the porous border and a President that wants to give millions of undocumented people citizenship. Iran needs to know that whatever she will do to America has greater consequences to Iran. Perhaps they dont care, but I am sure a few hundred thousand Iranians do. Delusions of a greater Persia are pure fantasy, unfortunately a deadly fantasy for other countries. Iran thus far has gotten away with killing hundred if not thousand US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. There will be an accounting to pay for the butcher bill, Iran will not like it, it will not be over quick. Save the think twice routine. When teh time comes, Iran will get its comeuppance, and they will then think twice before being bad again. Pain refocuses the mind even teh mad mullahs

Canada has millions of undocumented immigrants in America? Canada is a developed country. There's no reason for that. The border is porous yes, and just about anyone can get in, but why would migrants try?

First of all Duhnmharu, let's cut the crap. There is no Pentagon scenario. 9/11 happened and there was no nuclear response by America.

The General was responding to a hypothetical scenario that America strikes first. Then yes, there will be a response. To American interests and to the American mainland. No one was talking of conducting attacks without provocation.

Used terror groups to further foreign policy agenda? You mean terror groups like MEK? Jundallah? Al-Nusrah? Yes we've all seen the terror American proxies wreck. Every country has proxies. You're not clean either. So come of your high horse. You're no preacher.

There will be an accounting for the butcher bill? You mean like the accounting of funneling arms and money to Saddam Hussein in the 1980's? Who used those weapons on Iranian soldiers and civilians?

Or do you mean the accounting of Operation Ajax? You complain about the Mullahs, well guess what Kojak, your country created them!

If we are talking about comeuppances, it's your country that's long overdue for a history lesson.

Sort out your own household mess first. Then worry about what the world is doing.

For all your bluster and hawkish postering, that's just what it is, bluster and postering. We have the means for a breakout. We're practically there. The test can be held in another nation.

Chances are the world will see Iran become the newest nuclear armed nation. Followed by a short period of hysterical shrieking about Armageddon coming from Tel-Aviv, and then once that has subsided, "Israel" will wake up with sobering reality that it won't get to have its way everytime it throws a tantrum.

Dear afflicted General:

Canada has millions of undocumented immigrants in America.

Laughable I would love to see the evidence on that one. Canada has 32,000 so called illegals they cant seem to find (Min of Immigration stats) so where you come off with a million or more. laughable no credibility dear retired Col. perhaps it is a good thing you are retired.

Pentagon has war gamed many scenarios even one about taking over Canada. To think they have not worked out a scenario that would cover Iran is stupid and typical of teh officer corp of some countries. My horse may indeed be high, and like you (maybe) I have been on the tip of the spear going forward into harms way. Save the bluster talk for someone who believes your crap. for me I simply state Bring it on boy, let me and my brothers give you a chance to become a Shaheed.

That said, if we got to pick the targets....

I am not a General. And yes every country has war games and war plans. But concerning Iran, your plans will remain rather academic. Just like you did not stop North Korea from acquiring nuclear weapons, so you will not stop our program. We will exercise our sovereign rights.

I had many chances to become a Shaheed. 1983...1987. It wasn't my time.

Should your government initiate an illegal act of war, will I see you on the battlefield? Or is it again all bluster?

I'm afraid you misunderstood my comment on Canada. The poster by the name of Bigfoot mentioned wether Iranian agents had entered America via a porous border. Naturally I thought of the Canadian border. I've been to your lovely New England. Vermont is particularly nice. I saw that the border was largely unprotected. Hence my comment on Canada.

Then you mentioned that many illegal migrants are being given citizenship by coming in through a porous border. So I was a bit confused as to why migrants from Canada crossing the largely open border to come to America, when Canadians have relatively high standards of living.

The ball is in your court. You are the ones constantly talking of war and never initiating. If you had trouble holding on to Iraq, how do you think you will manage to hold ground in Iran? Several times larger in area and population? With less money and less willpower than a decade ago?

I don't think you have thought it through well enough. Go back to the drawing board.

If you don't like the rhetoric of our clerics, don't complain. You put them in power. Or have you forgotten about your overthrow of our democratically elected government? Operation Ajax ring a bell?

We've been under siege for a long time. 35 years of Sanctions, 8 years of war with Saddam's Army. And you are supposedly going to outlast us?

With what exactly? You are under no sanctions and cannot even pay unemployment insurance to your own workers.

You think you can afford, financially, militarily, and socially a 10 or 20 year war with us? Against 77 Million people? If you take the populations of Iraq and Afghanistan, and combine them you still will not equal that of Iran's. Open another equivalent of a two front war? With a hostile Iraq on our side?

Your war weary society is going to give you; Alpha Foxtrot a blank cheque to do whatever you want? I doubt that. Because that's what you're going to have to as for. To get the job done you're going to need and all out effort. Air strikes aren't going to cut it.

You think a beat up, unemployed, stressed out electorate is going to be enthusiastic about your war mongering?

Maybe it is you who is weak and rattles his saber to look strong. Insecurities are piling up on your end. You're frightened to death of a declining interest around the globe in the so-called Washington consensus.

Many enemies have underestimated America. When America is attacked or threatened, , you should not be too concerned about inseccurities. Throughout our history enemies have attacked us and in teh end they were brought to heel. What makes you think Iran with their speed boats and terror groups will be able to withstand the onslaught. for now you are engaging in a pissijng match and this merely confirms my last perception of being weak while you pretend to be strong. The same cranes Iran uses to hang Gay men from will be used by the people of Iran to hang the mullahs who are leading the good people down a road to destruction.

Iran had a choice to be a member of the human race and create a prosperous country , contributing to science, medecine, technology. Instead it has squandered itys chance to by funding terror, arming terror and sending out terror into the world. Sooner, rather than later dear Col do you think the world will not notice this and decide they have had enough. Iran contributes nothing to the global economy , contributes nothing to medicine today, contributes zilch to science , even less to its own people except its culture of death worship. sanctions have proven Iran can be shut down economically and destroyed, chocked off. It can not stop sanctions regardless of what it says. Such societies are on a long slow decline. They must make war to stay relevant. Iran does not have the capacity or wealth, has far too many enemies in the western world and in Arab world Imagine every Arab gun turned on Iran all at once. Not a pretty thought but it is going to come to that. Can you fathom Arab states sending their own jihadis to wage war against iran. the flock will come home to roost. A backward country with no future except one of war. constant war day by day decade by decade . Iranian people dying for nothing even Allah will not grant them entrance to heaven for being such fools. Allah is merciful Col, but Allah does not like fools, and Iran seems to have many in its ranks even in its retired ranks

If you think Americans are tired of war. YEs they are. However when polled, Americans rate Iran as anumber one threat . Over 65% of Americans polled said going to war on Iran would be supported. Do not count America out Col, you may one day wake up under the shadow of arclight
