Al Qaeda in Iraq Attacks Gas Pipeline In NE Iraq, Kills 18...15 of Them Iranian Workers

Every cloud has a silver lining...so when 18 people are killed in an al Qaeda terror attack in Iraq ...well, the silver lining is that 15 of the dead are Iranians.  For the King of state sponsored terrorism, this is going to smart a little bit.

The story comes from The Telegraph.

Attack on Iraqi gas pipeline leave 18 workers dead

Masked gunmen killed 18 people, most of them Iranians, working on a gas pipeline outside the northeastern Iraqi town of Muqdadiya on Friday, witnesses and officials said.

One worker wounded in the assault told Reuters the attackers sped up in three cars as he and his colleagues were digging a trench to extend the line.

"Three of them got out of a car and started firing on the workers inside and outside the trench," said Ibrahem Aziz by phone from hospital.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack on the workers, 15 of them from Shi'ite Muslim power Iran. But officials said militants from the Iraqi arm of Sunni Muslim group al Qaeda had been active in the area.

Ten years after the U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein, Iraq's Sunnis, Shi'ites and Kurds have yet to find a stable power-sharing deal and violence is again on the upswing.

Sunni Islamists see neighbour Iran as one of their main enemies, particularly because of Tehran's support of Iraq's now Shi'ite-led government.

Iran signed a deal in July to build a pipeline and import gas into Iraq to fuel power plants in Baghdad and Diyala province, where the attack took place.

Officials said the workers were employed by an Iranian oil and gas company, but did not give its name. The three other people killed were Iraqis and eight workers were wounded, medical and local officials said.

In a separate incident, at least five people were killed and 14 wounded when a car bomb exploded in southern Baghdad's outskirts of Nahrawan, police said.

A further six people were killed in a car bomb explosion in the town of Madaen, south of Baghdad, police said.

Iraq's sectarian balance has come under further pressure from the civil war in neighbouring Syria, where mainly Sunni rebels are fighting to topple a leader from an offshoot of Shi'ite Islam backed by Iran.

Violence in Iraq is at the highest level in at least five years. More than 8,000 people have been killed this year, according to the United Nations.

Why would Iran support AQI? Or ISIS as they are now known? ISIS is directly fighting Iranian interests in Syria and Iraq.

You meant to say Iran supports Shia militias in Iraq.

Malaki is not moderately pro-American. He's in fact Iran's man in Baghdad.

I can't believe you just gloated about the death of civilians. Interesting insight into the mind of an American neocon.

War is indeed hell, yet despite its hellishness and financial burdens you still take a Laisez faire approach to it.

At war with Iran? Don't you need Congress to make such a declaration?

It's not as if the news headline read; US Marine patrol fights it out with IRGC forces.

These were civilian engineers. Yet you bask in comfort that they're dead.

Can I though ask you one question?

What do you hope to achieve in Iran? And how do you go about achieving it?

What is your preferred method Holger? Let's say you are commander in chief tomorrow.

Would you follow the 2003 model? Or opt for different tactics and strategy?

I'm really curious to know.

Well Xinping is back and alive. Here i thought he got the message to fuck off and die somewhere . China has still much to atone for and perhaps you could go help them do just that. Like the 120,000 civilians killed in Syria. yes China facilitated that one, the theft of engineering documents from western companies by Chinese hackers that the government denies… China it appears does what Obama does best which is Lie. Sooner or later those chickens will come back to roost. In the mean ti e Swan off and pester some other people surely you know other places you can be a nuisance to.

And what? America is the first squeaky clean superpower?

The difference Dhuhnmharu between you and I is, that I can accept the shortcomings of my nation. You on the other hand think a bankrupt, infrastructurally decrepit, culturally blasé country like America is still exceptional.

Maybe it's best you keep on thinking that. It'll save the world a lot of trouble. Move ahead while you guys are still daydreaming about the good ol days.

And Holger....don't worry about your computer. Just put it on your tab. The $1 trillion dollar tab.

Xi you old instigator you ask some tough questions like what do we hope to achieve in Iran. Well the truth is this We don't know.
Obama keeps telling us his concepts and ideas but the entire world knows he is a liar and as such can not be trusted to speak the truth. So today all knowing and wise Xi jingling we ask you. What does Obama want from iran. I just wanna hear this one. Xi you are really good for my health. I read you BS whenever i can and I get a good laugh out of it. Laughter is good medicine… ancient Chinese proverb i think

If you don't know, then why head into a most likely brutal conflict? Shouldn't you have a plan before you put boots on the ground? Before thousands of American lives are put in peril?

How would I know what Obama wants out of Iran? He's your President not mine. Your country elected him, so you find out. I left in August of 2008. Before Obama was even President-elect.
