Afghan Taliban offers to swap captive U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl for 5 Guantanamo detainees

I'd like everyone to notice one thing about the offer from the Taliban to release U.S. Army Spc. Bowe Bergdahl and that is this:

Shaheen says ''first has to be the release of detainees,'' and after that, the Taliban ''want to build bridges of confidence.''

So there you have it - the Taliban insist that THEIR guys get released first and then we might get Bowe Bergdahl back?  And you'll notice in the article below from DAWN that the Taliban spokesman isn't exactly certain about what condition Bergdahl is in.

So, we're supposed to release five of the worst terrorists in the world and then hope that the "trustworthy" Taliban go ahead and release Bergdahl and maybe, just maybe, we'll be getting the dead body of Bowe Bergdahl?

This is like negotiating with Satan himself.

Afghan Taliban offer to free captive US soldier

ISLAMABAD: The Afghan Taliban say they are ready to hand over a US soldier held captive since 2009 in exchange for five of their senior operatives being held at the Guantanamo Bay prison.

A Taliban spokesman, Shaheen Suhail, says US Army Sgt Bowe Bergdahl ''is as far as I know in good condition.''

Suhail spoke in an exclusive telephone interview with The Associated Press from the newly opened Taliban offices in Doha, Qatar.

Bergdahl disappeared in eastern Afghanistan on June 30, 2009.

Shaheen says ''first has to be the release of detainees,'' and after that, the Taliban ''want to build bridges of confidence.''

He offered no details on Bergdahl's current whereabouts.

He spoke as the US is scrambling to save talks with the Taliban after angry complaints from President Hamid Karzai.
