Obama's Department of Defense Lists "Catholicism" and "Evangelical Christianity" Alongside Islamic Terror Groups In Terrorism Presentation

So now you have it - the Department of Defense, under President Barack Obama, has put together an instructional set of slides for the Army that presents a list of terror threats to America and in the same list are the likes of al Qaeda, Sunni Muslims, Evangelical Christianity and Catholicism.

Amazing, isn't it?  Yep...there ya go....the likes of bin Laden and Zawahiri right there alongside who?  Cardinal Dolan?  Your Evangelical minister?

The story comes from The Clarion Project.

Army Presentation Listed Evangelicals Alongside Terrorists

The Defense Department came under fire for a U.S. Army Reserve presentation about “religious extremism” that listed Evangelical Christianity, Catholicism and Sunni Muslims. It also warned of “Islamophobia.”

Instead of listing specific groups or sects, the slide in question placed explicitly-violent groups like the KKK, Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas alongside broader faiths.

The episode was made public by a soldier who attended the briefing. After the presentation, he asked for copies of the presentation and sent them to the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty.

"We find this offensive to have Evangelical Christians and the Catholic Church to be listed among known terrorist groups," said Ron Crews, executive director of the Alliance.

"Men and women of faith who have served the Army faithfully for centuries shouldn't be likened to those who have regularly threatened the peace and security of the United States," said Crews. He considers himself an evangelical Christian and did not appreciate "being classified with terrorists," he continued.

In a statement, the Archdiocese said, "The Archdiocese is astounded that Catholics were listed alongside groups that are, by their very mission and nature, violent and extremist."

Crews also criticized the presentation for citing the left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center to support its findings. The SPLC has labeled conservative Christian organizations as “hate groups” and critics of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood as “Islamophobes.”

Many Sunni Muslims would also take exception to the inclusion of their faith on the list. Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, the leader of the anti-Islamist organization named the American-Islamic Forum on Democracy, is a practicing Sunni Muslim. The Clarion Project’s homepage has a list of anti-Islamist Muslim organizations.

The slide also has factual errors. Next to Sunni Muslims, it says “Iraq/Islam,” but Iraq is a Shiite-majority country. It also classifies Hamas as an “Islamist” organization, but identifies Al-Qaeda and the Abu Sayyaf of the Phillipines as “Islam.”

Army spokesman George Wright said that this was an "isolated incident not condoned by the Dept. of the Army."

"This slide was not produced by the Army and certainly does not reflect our policy or doctrine," he said. "It was produced by an individual without anyone in the chain of command’s knowledge or permission."

Wright confirmed that the presentation was produced by an individual without consent from or knowledge of the Army's chain of command. He said the presentation is over a year old and:

"After receiving a single complaint following the presentation, this person deleted the slide, and it was never again shown. This person has apologized for any offense it may have caused, and we consider the matter closed."

The Archdiocese did acknowledge that the Army Chief of Chaplains office investigated the training module and found it to be an isolated incident that was not approved of by the Department of the Army. It urged the military’s commanders to take steps to prevent similar training sessions in the future.

Find out who was (is) responsible and court martial everyone who had a hand in this. The UCMJ has sections devoted to this type of action.

So now, as a practicing Catholic, I am considered by the DOD as a terrorist.

God SAVE the USA........

Isn't Pat Robertson a hate preacher? Or The Wesboro Baptist Church? Fred Phelps if given the power and authority would be no different from Ayman Al-Zawahiri.

The guy pickets our brave men and womens' funerals. He is an extremist, much like Anjem Choudary.
