British Teen Girl Stabbed In Face and Neck, Dumped In Alley and Then Set On Fire

Okay, so are you a betting man or woman?  Read this story from the Telegraph and then place your wager whether or not this crime, this insidious murder of a 16 year old girl from Blackpool, England, was committed by a Muslim or not.

Once the identity of the arrested party is published, I will repost the results.  I'm all in that this was a Muslim male that this girl had met on Facebook.  Any takers?

The story comes from The Telegraph.

Teenager found dead in alleyway died of stab wounds to head and face

A 16-year-old girl was fatally stabbed in the head and face before her body was set on fire in an alleyway.

The body of Sasha Marsden, who was studying childcare at her local college, was found engulfed in flames behind a guesthouse in the seaside resort of Blackpool, Lancs, at about 9pm on Thursday.

Hotel staff, who at first thought the body was a shop mannequin, tried to put out the flames by throwing bowls of water on her.

They realised it was a human body when they saw blood stains.

A post-mortem examination carried out on Friday night revealed the college student died as a result of “significant stab wounds”.

A 22-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of murder shortly after the body was discovered.

Lancashire Constabulary were still questioning the man yesterday but the woman has been released without charge.

Detectives are believed to be studying Facebook messages between the man and Miss Marsden.

The tragedy occurred five months after the teenager went missing for six days in September.

She was eventually found a week later 300 miles away in Lowestoft, Suffolk - although it was not known why she went missing.

A police spokesman said: "Following the death of Sasha Marsden, a Home Office post-mortem examination has been carried out and has found that Sasha died as a result of receiving significant stab wounds to the head and face.

"It also showed that attempts were made to set the body on fire and this was after Sasha had died. The results have been shared with the family, and specially trained officers are continuing to support them.

"Detectives have been granted a warrant of further detention in respect of a 22-year-old man and he will be detained at Blackpool police station for a further 36 hours. The 20-year-old woman who was arrested has been released without charge."

Det Supt Andy Murphy, the senior investigating officer, said: "This is an incredibly difficult and complex inquiry and we are working to try and build up a picture of what happened.

"From examining the body, it appears to us that someone has attempted to set fire to Sasha, and this is a line of inquiry that we are looking into.

"This is an incredibly difficult time for the family, and we are keeping them informed of our investigation. Our officers will be supporting them as they attempt to come to terms with what has happened."

Miss Marsden lived with her parents in the Staining area of Blackpool and was studying childcare at Blackpool and The Fylde College.

The alarm was raised at 9.15pm on Thursday night after a smoke alarm was triggered inside the rear of the Grafton House hotel and staff at neighbouring guesthouses went outside to investigate.

Carl Evans, 35, who owns the nearby Kimber House Hotel, said: "I heard the fire alarm go off next door but I didn't think anything of it at first.

“Then a dog walker called out for help. Three of us ran out and we were trying to extinguish the flames. I didn't realise it was a body at first.

"The girl was curled up in the fetal position. She was very small and it looked like she had no legs. It has been a massive shock."

Specialist crime scene investigators were last night carrying out forensic searches of the alleyway, behind Kirby Road in the South Shore area, and at a bed-and-breakfast hotel in the same road.

Miss Marsden was in the first year of a childcare course at Blackpool and The Fylde College and lived with her parents in Staining, near Blackpool.

In a tribute to her, Mandy Pritchard, head of the college's school for society, health and childhood, said she was "a friendly, considerate individual who cared about her fellow students".

Numerous tributes were paid to the youngster on a Facebook page set up in her memory.

Supt Eddie Newton, Blackpool Police operations manager, said: "Incidents like this do send a sense a shock throughout our communities, and I would like to reassure the Blackpool public that we have a team of dedicated and highly trained officers working on this investigation to try and establish exactly what has happened.

"I would ask people not to worry. We believe that this is an isolated incident and that there is no risk to the public.

"We have two people in custody helping with the investigation and detectives are following a number of different lines of inquiry.

"Our neighbourhood policing teams are out in the area and I would urge anyone who has any concerns to approach one of our officers and speak to them. They are there to offer you support and allay any fears that you may have.

"We have specially trained family liaison officers working closely with the family, offering them support, and our thoughts are with them at this sad time."
