Three NATO Troops Killed In Twin Suicide Bombing Attack In Kunar Province, Afghanistan

Terrible news today as 3 NATO troops were killed in a twin suicide bombing attack by the Taliban outside of a governmental building in Kunar province as the NATO patrol passed by.

From the report at Fox News:

Two suicide bombers targeted a NATO patrol in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday, killing three coalition troops, Afghan authorities and the international military force said.

The Taliban quickly claimed responsibility for the assault in Kunar province.

The attack emphasized the insurgency's continued ability to wreak violence despite fierce efforts by the Afghan government and international forces to wipe out the militants' leadership.

The two attackers detonated their suicide vests as a NATO foot patrol passed by the headquarters of the provincial government in Kunar, according to provincial police chief Ewas Mohammad Naziri.

This is a bit unusual to see suicide bombers attack a moving patrol - in fact, I'm not sure I've EVER seen this during the War in Afghanistan.  Sure, suicide bombers have hit us at check points and places where soldiers and Marines have been gathered but for two bombers to hit troops on the move, on patrol is very unusual.

I can't figure out if these bombers were part of a larger crowd that the patrol had to go around or if there was some sort of disguise used - either police uniforms or women's burqas - it just seems to me there had to be some sort of trickery for them to get this close to this patrol.

KABUL, Afghanistan – Two suicide bombers targeted a NATO patrol in eastern Afghanistan on Wednesday, killing three coalition troops, Afghan authorities and the international military force said.

NATO confirmed that three of its service members were killed in a suicide attack, but did not give any more details, including the nationalities of the troops who were killed.

At least one Afghan civilian was killed and three were wounded in the twin blasts that took place at about 10 a.m., said Wasifullah Wasify, a spokesman for Kunar's governor.

He said the bombers struck just outside the government compound in the provincial capital of Asadabad as the provincial council was in a meeting and foreigners were also there, attending a security briefing.

Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said in a statement that two insurgents drove explosives-laden vehicles into the NATO patrol from opposite directions. He claimed they killed 17 international troops. The insurgents typically claim far higher death tolls in their attacks.

Taliban kill three colaition forces. Does anyone have a clue why that was alowed to happen. I do, and I am not president, but maybe I should be.

It is simply because teh troops on teh ground are insufficient, and those that are there are hamstrung by their various Nato rules and those of their governments .

In short they are not there to win it. If they were, there would be daily bombing runs into waziristan pakistan to stop teh flow of insurgents, Pakistan would be treated as an enemy , there would be no prisoners, juts killing no quarter asked none given, and the pursuit of taliban and other terror groups would be relentless day and night, no respite, just as we did in WW2. We were in that one to win it and we did. So if you want to stop being hammered by taliban , vote for Twogunz for president and not that loser obama because his actions got many americans killed and thats a fact.

Vote Twogunz, I.m in it ti win it. Hooya!
