Taliban Execute Five Afghan Civilians Who Worked At a NATO Military Base

The Taliban continue to send the message to all Afghan civilians - expect nothing but death, torture and terror if you interact with any of the NATO forces in the country.  And at the same time, we are all witnessing just what is in store for the Afghan population once U.S. troops leave Afghanistan ...we could quite possibly see one of the most hideous accounts of mass murder in world history when the Taliban regain power.

One of the biggest frustrations of following the War in Afghanistan is the fact that the Afghan population puts up zero resistance to the Taliban - it's hard to believe that an entire population can be so intimidated.  But one has to remember the reign of the Taliban - they abused this population for years and the people know what will be done to them.  But each and every day I shake my head that there aren't at least SOME Afghans who will fight to save their children or property.

Amazing.

The story comes from DAWN.

Taliban execute five Afghans

KABUL: Taliban militants executed five civilians near Kabul for working with Nato troops, authorities said on Sunday, the latest in a series of militant activities in villages around the capital.

The news of the incident in Wardak province’s Jalrez district, 40km south of Kabul, came a day after the insurgents publicly lashed two Afghan men and just weeks after the public execution of a woman for adultery.

In Jalrez, the militants captured six Afghans returning home from work at a Nato base. The bodies of five of them were found on Sunday, all booby-trapped with explosives, a statement from the provincial governor’s office said.

Their hands were tied behind their backs, a witness said.

The sixth man fled his captors, the statement added, blaming the killings on the Taliban.

The militants are particularly active across the southern and eastern provinces, and appear to have stepped up efforts to impose their version of Shariah laws.
