Six British troops on security patrol in Helmand province in Afghanistan are missing and feared dead. The article here from DAWN does a piss poor job of reporting this but it appears that the patrol's vehicle was hit by an explosive but mentions nothing about what was found. It appears that the vehicle was found but the six soldiers are missing ... and that is NOT good. It makes me wonder if the Taliban made off with bodies and perhaps some of the soldiers are captive.
Here's some from the article:
Six British soldiers are missing and are believed to have been killed in Afghanistan after an explosion hit an armoured vehicle, Britain’s Ministry of Defence said on Wednesday.
“I have the tragic duty to report that six soldiers are missing, believed killed, during a security patrol,” said British spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Mackenzie.
The ministry said the soldiers had been on patrol on Tuesday in Helmand Province, the restive southern area where most British troops are based, when their vehicle was hit.
The servicemen’s families have been informed, the ministry added.
I'm going to watch this story closely because if any of these Brit troops are alive and indeed captured by the Taliban, we are looking at a nightmare and at the same time, if the troops were killed, why would the Taliban remove the bodies?

Meanwhile in Kandhar, four civilians were killed and 10 injured when a remotely controlled motorbike bomb exploded in an Afghan town on the border with Pakistan, police said.
Officials blamed the attack in the town of Spin Boldak in Kandahar province on the hardline Islamist Taliban, who are waging a 10-year insurgency against the Western-backed government in Kabul.
“There was a motorbike bomb blast against border police in Spin Boldak.
Four civilians, one of them a woman, were killed and 10 others were injured,”said Janan, a rapid-reaction police unit commander who uses only one name.
The interior ministry confirmed the deaths and blamed the blast on the “enemies of Afghanistan” — a reference to the Taliban.
