U.S. Predator Drone Offs Three Haqqani Network Taliban In North Waziristan

Ah yes...another day, another hellfire. Today, dawn broke on Pakistan's North Waziristan with the smell of hellfire smoke and the silent screams of three Haqqani Network Taliban as the nearly continuous barrage of U.S. drone attacks continued in Pakistan.

From the article at The Long War Journal:

A US drone strike killed at least three militants in northwest Pakistan on Thursday, destroying a compound in a mountain stronghold of the Afghan Taliban’s Haqqani network, officials said.

The attack took place in Darpakhel Sarai, just outside Miramshah, the main town of North Waziristan.

“A drone fired two missiles on a militant compound. At least three militants were killed,” a senior Pakistani security officials told AFP.

He said those killed were loyal to Jamil Haqqani, an important Afghan commander in the Haqqani network whom US officials said was killed in a drone strike in North Waziristan on October 13.

This has been probably the most sustained string of predator drone strikes in northwestern Pakistan by the CIA that we have seen in over a year - it's been brutal and definitely effective. If you noticed in the past few days in Afghanistan, the Taliban have been pretty silent...no real celebrations, no significant attacks...I think the scumbags are finally figuring out that they are seeing a rain of hellfires because of their recent attacks in Kabul.

PESHAWAR: A US drone strike killed at least three militants in northwest Pakistan on Thursday, destroying a compound in a mountain stronghold of the Afghan Taliban’s Haqqani network, officials said.

He said those killed were loyal to Jamil Haqqani, an important Afghan commander in the Haqqani network whom US officials said was killed in a drone strike in North Waziristan on October 13.

A US official at the time named him as Janbaz Zadran, saying he “played a central role in helping the Haqqani network attack US and coalition targets in Kabul and southeastern Afghanistan”.

Other intelligence officials in Miramshah and the northwestern city of Peshawar confirmed Thursday’s missile strike and casualties.
