Thirty Afghan Taliban are dead and one Pakistani soldier is dead in the latest attack by the Taliban crossing the Afghan/Pakistan border into Pakistan. It appears that upwards of 200 Taliban were involved in the attack but to lose 30 is a high price to pay.

From the story at DAWN:

Pakistani soldiers killed 30 Afghan militants who had crossed the border to attack the army, Pakistani military officials said on Monday.

The raid on Sunday night by a group of more than 200 Afghans could further damage an already difficult relationship between Afghanistan and Pakistan, which often accuse each other of failing to halt cross-border operations by militants.

One Pakistani soldier was killed and four were wounded in the latest frontier incident, which lasted close to an hour, the Pakistani officials said. There was no independent confirmation of the number of militants killed.

This shows that the Taliban in this area of Afghanistan are getting a bit nervous and perhaps see that they are going to have to re-enter Pakistan soon to escape NATO and American heat - they probably had been watching the Pakistani military for some time and figured a successful raid would open up the entrance into Pakistan a bit.

Unfortunately for the Taliban, things didn't quite go as planned.
