Double Bomb Attack On Pakistan Market Kills 34, Wounds Close To 100

Okay, if you want to know how an al Qaeda inspired suicide bomb attack works, this is how and what happened late yesterday in Peshawar, Pakistan. The attackers set off a planted small bomb in a hotel bathroom....the charge really didn't pack enough explosives to really kill anyone, so as the hundreds of people and newsmen and security officials gathered at the site to investigate and see if anyone was hurt, a suicide bomber then pulls up, when the crowd is at maximum density, and sets off the explosives he has on him and his motorcycle and instantly kills 34 people and injures upwards of 80 to 100 people. That is how al Qaeda does it and how they teach it.

From the story at DAWN:

The attack hit the Khyber Super Market area, which includes residential flats for students, shops, a fruit juices kiosk and a hotel.

A first explosion lured in onlookers and emergency services before a second more powerful blast, believed to be from a suicide strike, went off.

“At least 34 people were killed and more than 80 injured in the blasts,”senior local police official Ijaz Khan told AFP, saying the blasts were only four minutes apart.

Those killed included two journalists working for local English-language newspapers Pakistan Today and The News.

“The first blast was quite small but as people gathered close to the site of the explosion, the second one, which was real big one, went off,” he said.

Another senior local police official, Kalam Khan, confirmed the death toll. There were no immediate claims of responsibility.

“The first blast was triggered by a timed device planted in the bathroom of the hotel while a suicide bomber riding a motorbike blew himself up near the hotel,” bomb disposal chief Shafqat Malik told AFP.

Now, there's a new article out today that states the Taliban denying this attack - yeah right...they are saying that they don't attack innocent civilians. Well, that's just a blatant lie and here's why - the Taliban along with al Qaeda are all about killing security officials and this type of attack is perfect at LURING police to a scene...that's why they didn't load up 2000 pounds of explosives into that bathroom....but they know that the police will show up and that is when the deadly second attack occurs.

The point here is that the Taliban view the dead civilians as simply collateral damage to the key objective which is to kill Pakistani police and security personnel.
