Well, the story over at DAWN isn't very long but it sure is packed with information as Pakistani security officials have gotten a lot of intel out of one of the Taliban suicide bombers whose vest/belt failed in the attack on the shrine a number of days ago.
And unbelievably, this guy is singing that there are 350 suicide bombers currently (that he knows of) in training in North Waziristan. Now, if you happen to live in the provinces and agencies next to North Waziristan, that's gotta make you lose some sleep.
Here's a bit from the article:
The arrested bomber of the Sakhi Sarwar shrine in Dera Ghazi Khan, apologised to the Pakistani nation on Friday and said that he had been told to bomb the areas of non-Muslims.
During investigations, Omar told officials that there were 350 people receiving suicide bombing training in the militant hideouts of Waziristan. He said that these included Uzbeks, Tajiks, Arabs and Punjabis.
He also disclosed that the second bombing was supposed to take place between the rescue and media teams.
Now, look at that last line from the article above...about the "second bombing"...see the intent? That is al Qaeda. That is the absolute M.O. of an al Qaeda trained and plotted attack...where the first wave of bombing takes place and then when rescue and security and media gets there, the second wave of bombings take place.
This is just further evidence that woven throughout the Taliban is this network of al Qaeda strategy, training and tactics - and along with that comes some of the worst barbarism on the planet.
I'd like to point out to the Pakistani government that if this failed bomber's information is correct and there are indeed 350 just like him in North Waziristan right now, then they better start that North Waziristan clearing operation and damn quick.
Over 300 suicide bombers being trained in Waziristan
ISLAMABAD: The arrested bomber of the Sakhi Sarwar shrine in Dera Ghazi Khan, apologised to the Pakistani nation on Friday and said that he had been told to bomb the areas of non-Muslims.
During investigations, Omar told officials that there were 350 people receiving suicide bombing training in the militant hideouts of Waziristan. He said that these included Uzbeks, Tajiks, Arabs and Punjabis.
Omar said that he used to be blindfolded and taken for training. He said that the in-charge of the camp was Sangeen Khan who used to constantly be away on travel.
He also disclosed that the second bombing was supposed to take place between the rescue and media teams.
