OMG! Crisis in Saudi Arabia! Private Girls Schools Get Caught Allowing Girls To Play Badminton!

Allah and Mo must be beside themselves today...pissed as hell, is my guess...because six private schools in Saudi Arabia actually held a sports tournament which allowed Saudi girls to play sports! I know, it's a real shocker and such an affront to islam.

Imagine...high school girls in Saudi Arabia actually running around on a field or court, wind blowing through their burqas....laughing and having a good time. But don't worry, the Saudi education ministry is on the case and heads are gonna roll.

From the report at The Telegraph:

The Dec 8 event involving 200 females from six Jeddah private high schools broke ministry rules against girls' sports in schools, a ministry official said.

"We don't have any regulations that say that it's OK for girls' schools to hold sports classes or training," said Ahmed Al-Zahrani, director of girls' education in Jeddah.

"This tournament was held by these schools, something that has now led us to know about their illegal activities," he said.

Women's access to sports overall is tightly constricted in Saudi Arabia, which is governed according to an ultra-strict version of Islam. Women cannot participate in the Saudi Olympics team, and are not allowed to attend public football matches.

While a few women-only private clubs and private women's universities offer sporting possibilities, sports are prohibited at primary and secondary schools for girls.

These doggone schools just don't get it - high school in Saudi Arabia is the perfect training ground for women in the country - those girls should be locked in the class room all day long, not allowed to associate with any males, they should not be allowed to laugh or giggle or even move their bodies. With this kind of infraction, these schools have infected the minds of these girls with that Great Satan idea that life can be fun!

By the way, I searched for a reaction to all of this from America's National Organization for Women (NOW) and could only find that they aren't interested - they are too involved in their current project of trying to develop drive up windows at Planned Parenthood clinics.

The tournament was hosted by the private Effat University and included basketball, badminton, swimming and athletics.

"I was surprised to receive a letter from the Ministry of Education questioning me about the competition and the reason why it was held in the first place," Farida Farsi, chairwoman of Al-Hamra Schools.

"I also received a huge number of letters and telephone calls from conservative Saudi men and sheikhs who said that I should've known better and advised me not to hold such competitions in the future because it's not ladylike," she said.
