U.S. Sends Three Drones Into North Waziristan, 6 Taliban Won't Be Participating in the Hajj

Okay, there's a number of cool things about today's U.S. predator drone strikes on North Waziristan. First, and most importantly, there are six dead Taliban. Second, the U.S. sent THREE drones in for the strikes. And third, all of the Taliban killed were followed as they returned from "operations" in Khost, Afghanistan back into their base in North Waziristan.

I love it. I can almost hear the jihadi chatter as they walked along the mountain trail...."yeah, that was a bitch of a firefight...sure is good to be back home, right Khalid?" Then BOOM!

From the report at DAWN:

A US drone strike on Thursday targeting fighters returning to Pakistan’s tribal belt from neighbouring Afghanistan, killed at least six militants, local security officials said.

The missiles targeted the group returning on foot to North Waziristan, the main hideout of Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked networks in Pakistan, from Afghanistan’s eastern province of Khost, one of the officials said.

This action by our drones does reveal the essence of the scheme that has been going on for years in the Afghanistan War - the Taliban venture into Afghanistan...run their ambushes on NATO troops, snipe NATO patrols and set IED's and then, when they need the rest and rearming...they stream back into North Waziristan.

Well, hopefully the word will get out that the return home is just as dangerous as the trip into Afghanistan. It's my hope that eventually, the Taliban will decide that there is less risk in just staying in Afghanistan and setting up house. And that, will mean that we can finally unleash some unholy hell from the air on them.

Drone strike targets North Waziristan

MIRAMSHAH: A US drone strike on Thursday targeting fighters returning to Pakistan’s tribal belt from neighbouring Afghanistan, killed at least six militants, local security officials said.

The missiles targeted the group returning on foot to North Waziristan, the main hideout of Taliban and Al-Qaeda-linked networks in Pakistan, from Afghanistan’s eastern province of Khost, one of the officials said.

“The unmanned US aircraft fired six missiles targeting militants in Gulli Khel village near the Ghulam Khan district of North Waziristan,” the official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

The area is about 12 kilometres from North Waziristan’s main town of Miramshah and borders Khost, considered one of the strongholds in eastern Afghanistan for insurgents fighting US-led troops. – AFP

Actually Holger, it seems we get more air damage on them while they are in Pakistan.
