Obama Proudly Announces India Deals Will Create 50,000 American Jobs...or Did He Fib?

Okay, President Barack Hussein Obama made a HUGE announcement from India that his crack team of economic industrialists had been successful in landing all kinds of new deals for American companies with India that would create (not save, mind you, but CREATE) 50,000 jobs back here in America. So, I know what you are thinking...what $300 billion dollar piece of business could have been agreed to that would create such a large number of jobs? Well, I hate to break it to you but we continue to have a President who exaggerates the truth.

Barack Hussein Obama had the nerve to actually stand over there in India and announce that 50,000 American jobs had been created....because....he, the economic guru of the Harvard Law School....had sealed the deal on.....(wait for it)....$10 billion worth of new business in India! I'm sorry, that is NOT a typo - it's not $300 billion or even $100 billion but $10 billion....you know, like only 1o times more than $1 billion. To put it in perspective, he landed a deal that would just about pay for his trip to India.

Now, the headlines are going to talk about "deals" as in plural but what you need to notice is that the one deal was for Boeing 737 airliners that totals $7.7 billion - that only leaves $2.3 billion in all of these other "deals."

From the report at DAWN:

US President Barack Obama announced Saturday 10 billion dollars in trade deals with India to create 50,000 US jobs, and said Washington and New Delhi stood “united” in their fight against terror.

Kicking off a four-nation Asian tour weighted towards prying open new markets for US goods, Obama also said he would relax technology export restrictions imposed after India’s nuclear tests back in 1998.

The commercial agreements included a 7.7 billion dollar contract for Boeing to supply 30 of its 737 aircraft to India’s Spice Airlines.

“Today’s deals will lead to more than 50,000 jobs in the United States, everything from hi-tech jobs in southern California to manufacturing jobs in Ohio,” Obama said.

Now, let's take a quick look at that $7.7 billion dollar deal for Boeing. In 2009, Boeing's total revenues for the year were $68.3 billion and in 2008 Boeing's revenues were $60.9 billion. So this big huge deal from Obama amounts to about a 10% increase in revenue for the commercial planes division of Boeing. Currently in the commercial planes division of Boeing, there are 62,000 employees, so if Obama magically created a 10% increase in revenues, is he trying to tell us that Boeing will need to add 30,000 or 40,000 or 50,000 employess??? One other question I'd have is how long a period of time this new contract with India's airlines is for - are those 37 new aircraft to be delivered over the next year or will it be over 3 years or 5 years or 10 years?

As most of you know, I don't drill down this much into a lame story that often but I'm just sick and tired of the bullshit this President slings around...it reminds me of Obama's famous line from the 2008 Presidential campaign when he told his audience of Obamazombies...."they must think yer stupid!"

Obama unveils major deals on ‘job fair’ visit to India

MUMBAI: US President Barack Obama announced Saturday 10 billion dollars in trade deals with India to create 50,000 US jobs, and said Washington and New Delhi stood “united” in their fight against terror.

Kicking off a four-nation Asian tour weighted towards prying open new markets for US goods, Obama also said he would relax technology export restrictions imposed after India’s nuclear tests back in 1998.

The announcements were made in India’s financial hub Mumbai, where the president earlier paid tribute to the victims and survivors of the November 2008 militant attacks that claimed 166 lives.

“As we look to India today, the United States sees an opportunity to sell our exports in one of the fastest growing markets in the world,” he told an audience of US and Indian businessmen.

“For America this is a jobs’ fair. As we recover from this recession we are determined to rebuild our economy on a stronger foundation for growth,” he added.

His speech was clearly aimed not only at India, but at voters in the United States who punished Obama’s Democratic Party in mid-term elections on Tuesday, in a cry of anguish over the job-starved economic recovery.

The president also urged India to play its part by implementing a steady reduction in trade barriers in sectors from retail to telecommunications.

“New jobs and growth flow to countries that lower barriers to trade and investment,” he said.

Rajan Bharti Mittal, president of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, welcomed what he described as a “very pragmatic speech.”

Outlining a series of measures to ease export controls, Obama said they would allow India’s purchase of “dual use” technologies that have civilian or military applications.

The measures would involve removing Indian space and defence companies from a restricted “entities list” and supporting Indian membership of four key global nuclear nonproliferation regimes.

Obama and his wife, First Lady Michelle, flew into Mumbai on Air Force One at the start of a trip that will also take the president to Indonesia, South Korea for the G20 summit and Japan for the APEC summit.

Obama’s first stop in Mumbai was the Taj Mahal Palace, which was the main target of the 2008 attacks by 10 Islamist militants.

“The United States stands in solidarity with all of Mumbai and all of India in working to eradicate the scourge of terrorism,” Obama wrote in the condolence book at a memorial to the victims.

“We visit here to send a very clear message that in our determination to give our people a future of security and prosperity, the United States and India stand united,” Obama said after meeting survivors at the hotel.

Treading a fine diplomatic line, Obama did not mention that extremists blamed for the attacks, including the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) group, were based in Pakistan, India’s arch-rival and America’s anti-terror ally.

The omission was swiftly criticised by India’s main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party as a “missed opportunity.”On the eve of Obama’s departure for India, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on the LeT and another group, Jaish-e-Mohammed, a key planner of the attacks.

US officials now say that cooperation with India on counter-terrorism is at its highest-ever level, despite India’s misgivings about US support for Pakistan.

After the Taj, Obama toured the Mumbai house of Indian independence icon Mahatma Gandhi, who he has cited as a key personal influence.

“He is a hero not just to India, but to the world,” he wrote in the visitor’s book. Obama moves on to New Delhi on Sunday, where he will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and deliver an address to parliament on Monday. -AFP

So Boeing, a long time Democratic supporter all the sudden announces a plane sale to India coinciding with the Obama trip. Gee, that's a shocker!

This is all a well choreographed attempt to repair Obama's image. He wants to make it look he cares about the 20,000,000 Americans that are out of work. Yet Americans are starting to wise up. They are realizing that we can't spend our way out of a recession. It didn't work in the 1930's and it's not working now.

Cut government spending across the board and let free market capitalism run it's course. We currently have a 1 trillion dollar budget. Slice that in half immediately. That'll feed $500,000,000,000 back into the hands of taxpayers overnight. Most of that money would be spent or invested. It would create millions of jobs within months.

Great comment, Lysol.

Especially on target with the REAL ways that an economy can be sparked. I've said all along, the economy would have started really recovering two years ago if these clowns had just left it the hell alone.

Holger . . .

Mr. Obama gives every indication of being clueless. Perhaps a little vacation in India will fix him up? Only if Michelle can spend a lot of money. It's her favorite sport.

People around him say he is a smart Harvard grad and very proud of it. He should be. The problem is his ears. Yeah, ears. He listens to nothing but praise. Can't hear any adverse comments or advice or counter opinions. Only praise. It's a really rare ailment. So rare it's been named after him:
