Yeah, you read that headline correctly - I'm still trying to figure out how that threat from the Taliban is supposed to scare or intimidate the military, government or people of Pakistan. And quite frankly, I think there are some Apache crews in southern Helmand province that would just LOVE to see these flea-bitten jihadis come streaming across the border about now.
From the article at DAWN:
I can tell you this - the Taliban do NOT want to migrate to Afghanistan - they've had it easy in North Waziristan save for some UAV attacks by the CIA. They know that if they cross the border they are going to run into, eventually, American Marines, American soldiers and NATO forces - their days of sitting around a campfire with their weapons inside their huts and compounds would be over. The party would be over, as they say.

In a surprising development, the local Taliban council has said that militants will move into Afghanistan if the army launches an operation in North Waziristan. Now, what the Taliban will try to lead you to believe is that they have been living peacefully in North Waziristan for years, which isn't entirely a lie but the fact of the matter is that many, many Taliban who had been in other agencies and provinces that were driven out are now in North Waziristan and they ARE causing all kinds of hell. At the same time, North Waziristan is the prime holding ground for al Qaeda in Pakistan and the Pakistani military and intelligence realize that that many al Qaeda in one spot is going to lead to some serious plotting and real bad news in the end.
A pamphlet purportedly distributed by the Mujahideen Shura of North Waziristan in Miramshah bazaar on Sunday said that the Taliban would ask Afghan President Hamid Karzai to provide shelter to their men if the army launched an operation in North Waziristan.
“If the army starts another operation we will migrate to Afghanistan."
“But this will lead to an unending war in the region and jihad will continue,” the pamphlet said.

North Waziristan operation reports upset Taliban
MIRAMSHAH: In a surprising development, the local Taliban council has said that militants will move into Afghanistan if the army launches an operation in North Waziristan.
The shura said that despite a few incidents, the Taliban would not violate a peace agreement signed with the government in 2007. It said incidents would be investigated
However, the pamphlet said, there was a possibility that the government would launch an operation because of the $2 billon military aid promised by the US.
It urged the people to remain prepared to cope with the situation.
“If the government launches an operation for the sake of money the people of Waziristan will collect $2 billion,” the pamphlet said and warned against setting up committees against the Taliban.
