I've refrained from really getting into the prospects for a peace agreement for the Middle East between the Palestinian Authority and Israel because I didn't want to be seen as the ultimate downer and at the same time, I guess maybe I hoped that Netanyahu had something magic up his sleeve. But the fact of the matter is this - Israel is negotiating with a fraudulent government in the Palestinian Authority and their representative, Mahmoud Abbas, is a terrorist who deep down seeks the destruction of Israel...not peace. At the same time, throw in the infamous mediator in this peace process, the United States, and you throw an Arab sympathizing individual like Barack Hussein Obama into the mix. It is doomed folks. Simple as that. Personally, Israel would probably stand a better chance of peace progress if Egypt was mediating this thing.
Here's the operative statement by Abbas today via Israel News:
Anyway, today Mahmoud Abbas showed his real colors - he showed that he wants NOTHING to do with peace because he played the settlement card - he embarrassed the hell out of the spineless Obama by mentioning he spoke privately with Obama after the peace sessions last week in Washington, D.C. about the PA's demand that Israel halt all settlement construction. Why did Abbas throw this out today, seemingly out of the blue? Because he knew that Netanyahu had specifically stated that there should be no pre-conditions to the peace negotiations and he stole that thunder from Abbas out of the gate - well, Abbas' admission today shows the entire world he has no interest in peace and certainly doesn't want to continue these peace negotiations. But why is that? Why is Abbas opposed to sitting down?
Well, folks, Mahmoud Abbas is scared shitless right now. That's why. He knows his days are numbered on this earth if he proceeds with this - Hamas and their backer, Iran, have made it very clear that peace with Israel is not an option. And Abbas knows what can happen to him - hell, it wasn't even two years ago that a bunch of his Fatah members in Gaza got knee-capped by Hamas over a disagreement and if the IDF wasn't walking the streets of the West Bank at this very moment, Abbas would probably be hanging upside down from a lamp post.
We'll have to see if Obama falls for this chickenshit tactic of Abbas' - let's hope and pray he doesn't.

Abbas Asks Obama’s Officials to Confront Israel on Freeze
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas has publicly put U.S. President Barack Obama on the spot, telling reporters that he asked the president to “intervene in the settlement issue,” the Associated Press reported.
President Obama has sided with the PA, describing as “illegitimate” all Jewish communities in areas where the PA demands sovereignty, including neighborhoods in Jerusalem where 300,000 Jews live. However, he has stopped short of publicly telling Israel it will be at fault if Abbas quits the talks over the freeze issue.
Abbas’ public statement that he asked President Obama to intervene comes at a time when the president is suffering sinking popularity, with polls indicating that the Republican party will wipe away his majority in the House of Representatives and possibly in the Senate.
An extension of Israel’s 10-month temporary building freeze, which expires September 26, has been the PA’s principle condition for continuing direct talks with Israel. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu initiated the freeze to satisfy Abbas’ conditions for direct talks, but the PA leader has rejected it for not being extensive enough.
Abbas and Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke behind closed doors in Washington last week for the first time in nearly two years, and a new round of discussions is scheduled at the Egyptian resort city Sharm el-Sheikh next week.
Although he did not specifically refer to the building freeze, Abbas told reporters on his return from Washington, “The United States will be present at the negotiations, not necessarily behind closed doors, but can be inside the room, or outside.”
Underlining his hard-line position, he said on Monday he will not make ”even one compromise” on the issues of building, borders and the demand that Israel allow several million foreign Arabs to immigrate to the Jewish State based on ancestral claims.
His remarks have been out of line with an appeal from U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell that both the PA and Israel keep their negotiations between themselves and not in the media.
Abbas also has reiterated his often-stated refusal to recognize Israel as Jewish State. Such a designation could preclude his demand to flood Israel with Arabs, a situation which would reduce Jews to a minority in the country.

The very fact that Netanyahu sat with, and shook hands with, even TALKED with, this murderer who planned the Olympics massacre, speaks volumes on who Netanyahu really is - a political dog-leader. Just like the dog ahead of his master appears as if he's leading his master but always looks back to "follow" his master, so too Netanyahu looks to see what his leftists in power, such as Peres, have to say in the matter and follows their lead - never his own.
Netanyahu is a wimp riding on the coattails of his late, famous, daring brother. He's wily and weak, looking to promote the leftists' agenda while posing to represent the conservatives - which he is not.
