The Families of the "Leavenworth 10" Soldiers, Marines Convicted of Crimes In Iraq War, Plan Rally For Tomorrow

All I can say is that I wish I could be at the rally tomorrow where families and friends and supporters of American soldiers and Marines INEXCUSABLY convicted of crimes during the Iraq War will show their support near Leavenworth, Kansas.

I have heard the stories of several of these young warriors sitting in Leavenworth and I've heard their family members on radio shows. I know the details and I know the bullshit of the charges, the hypocrisy of the Army and Marines regarding the actions of these young men.

From the story at Breitbart:

Families of a group of soldiers and Marines convicted of killing Iraqi civilians during the war are hoping other Americans see the injustice in their sons' sentences.
On Saturday, the families will lead a motorcycle rally not far from where the men, known as the "Leavenworth 10" are being held.
The soldiers and Marines were convicted for actions during a span in the Iraq war when conditions were extreme. Mounting U.S. casualties amid attacks from insurgents, foreign terrorists and rival Shiite and Sunni religious factions led to intense fighting.

Now, this is from a blog called Grizzly Groundwell that is supporting the rally and ride for these warriors. Here's the list of the Leavenworth 10:

The Leavenworth 10 includes Michael Behenna, Evan Vela Carnahan, Corey, Clagett, Raymond Girouard, John E. Hatley, William B. Hunsaker, Larry Hutchins, Michael Leahy, Joseph Mayo, and Michael P. Williams. They survived unspeakable hardships on the battlefield only to be punished due to untenable Rules of Engagement while trying to survive a combat zone. They are now serving sentences ranging from 10 to 40 years.

Two names on that list hit close to home for me since I've heard both of their mothers speak publicly about their stories - Michael Behenna and Corey Clagett.

I would ask that anyone that is in the Kansas area that can get out to this rally, please do so. Our military succumbed to a political movement on the Left in this country during the Iraq War that wanted some of our young men to pay for their participation in that war and it's high time that these young men were released from Leavenworth with full honors. It's a disgrace. An absolute disgrace.

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) - Families of a group of soldiers and Marines convicted of killing Iraqi civilians during the war are hoping other Americans see the injustice in their sons' sentences.

While the families seek their release, others say despite the "fog of war" there are rules of conduct and commanders must ensure discipline, even if it leads to soldiers going to prison, for the good of the military and mission.
