Holger I am confused. They did not have color film during WWII?
I'm reminded of Chuck Yeagers book where he describes where they used a kill box and shot every horse, cow, person* car, cart. He mentioned it was a good thing we won other wise war crimes were on the docket.
* I was working repairing a system at a large company and the people that ran the break room were Germans. He was very young when the war was going on. His wife related how she was very young when a fighter tried to kill her but missed.
Found it interesting that Yeager's story was confirmed.

Turner broadcasting and others have colorized some of the old films.
After the bombing mission and the escorts weren't needed as much they turned the P-51s on ground targets.
The P-48 with 8 50s helped too.
