Islamophobia Fear Burns McDonald's In Singapore

I just LOVE this story. The people with the golden arches, McDonald's, has found out that being overly paranoid of offending the poor damn muslims in Singapore can come back to bite you in the ass as a promotional collection of Chinese zodiac toys became the center of a storm of protest by ethnic Chinese.

From the article at Breitbart:

U.S. fast food giant McDonald's placed an apology in Singapore dailies on Friday for omitting from the local market the pig version among a series of toys featuring the Doraemon cartoon character in costumes of animals from the Chinese zodiac.
McDonald's announced in half-page ads in two local dailies that it has decided to bring in the Doraemon pig lucky charm after its earlier exclusion to respect Muslim sensitivities upset the majority ethnic Chinese population.

This is story absolutely encapsulates what is going on in this world right now with nations of people walking on eggshells so they don't upset the fucking muslims. McDonald's, one of the most successful and profitable of all food service companies, damn near blew it with the MAJORITY of customers in a market because of their FEAR of a few whacked out muslims in that same market.

You know, it's kind of like a public college in Minnesota installing foot baths and islamic prayer rooms in their facility while barring any Christian worship rooms in the same facility - all of that in a setting where 85% of the students are Christian.

I love this quote from the article:

"The pig is one of the Chinese zodiac signs -- part of Chinese culture and customs -- and it is just a soft toy, not food. Will the sight of a Doraemon collectible pig soft toy offend anyone?" Pauline Koh wrote to the Straits Times newspaper earlier this month.

Well, Ms. Koh, you have a lot to learn, because there is no limit as to what will offend muslims. We saw what happened to the teacher in, I think it was Africa, that modeled a doll in the image of Mohammed. We've seen the muslims of the world go nuclear over a bloody cartoon. We've seen muslims in America protest when the hijab has been forbidden from courtrooms and polling places and workplaces.

You know, I've come to the conclusion that the only way to NOT offend muslims is to convert to their moongod "religion." Let's face it...the fact of the matter is that anyone that is NOT a muslim, is an offense to them. We have muslims in America who literally have taken jobs in grocery stores and then refused to ring out packages of bacon or salami. Fine. Don't work there. It offends me to have to touch a Qur'an. So, I'm not going to take a job at a bookstore that sells Qur'ans. Simple, isn't it?

And this is all where we see a convergence between islamofascism and the Left in America...when a nation's culture and basic tenets is held hostage in order to please a violent and vocal minority. We have seen the majority of Americans' personal liberties held hostage in the recent Healthcare debate so that a small minority of people can be coddled. We all know that the legislation isn't about actually giving health insurance to that minority, but to exude further control over the majority, and that is exactly the aim of the islamofascists. The islamofascists don't want their little religious views protected...they want their views to be the benchmark. They don't want to be allowed to observe Ramadan, they want you and me to observe Ramadan. And so on. And so on.

McDonald's apologizes to Singapore for pig toy omission+

SINGAPORE, Jan. 22 (AP) - (Kyodo)—U.S. fast food giant McDonald's placed an apology in Singapore dailies on Friday for omitting from the local market the pig version among a series of toys featuring the Doraemon cartoon character in costumes of animals from the Chinese zodiac.
McDonald's announced in half-page ads in two local dailies that it has decided to bring in the Doraemon pig lucky charm after its earlier exclusion to respect Muslim sensitivities upset the majority ethnic Chinese population.

McDonalds launched the Doraemon lucky charms in its Singapore market at the beginning of this year to coincide with next month's Chinese New Year festival. The soft toys were also launched in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and a check with McDonald's Hong Kong web site showed that the pig lucky charm is sold in Hong Kong.
The company, which runs a chain of more than 100 restaurants in Singapore, has halal certification from the Islamic religious authority here to indicate that the food is fit for Muslim consumption and does not serve pork, which is taboo for Muslims to consume.
Instead of the pig, McDonalds featured a Cupid soft-toy in Singapore, as Valentine's Day will coincide with the first day of the Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb. 14 this year.
However, that move roused a storm of controversy among the chain's ethnic Chinese patrons in the past few weeks.
"McDonald's upset the Chinese community because the zodiac is a treasured part of its culture dating back a few thousand years," wrote another reader of the newspaper.
"We're sorry, and we're grateful," the ad said. "We could never have anticipated how passionate Singapore is about our Doraemon lucky charms."
In its statement to the media, the company said, "We excluded the Doraemon "pig" design in the collection with the intention to be sensitive to the Muslim customers...it has never been our intention to be disrespectful toward any religion or culture."
An official from the halal department of the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore told Kyodo News that it has no problem with a pig soft toy being sold at a halal certified food outlet as the overriding concern is the food itself.

Just to set the facts straight. The Muslims in Singapore are not offended by the pig. They don't care if Macdonalds has a pig stuff toy on sale, and they think that they should not have left it out of the collection in the first place.
