Pakistani Military Knocks Off Taliban Towns One By One In South Waziristan Offensive

First off, folks...we have to realize that the Pakistani military is allowing ZERO news reports from the offensive in South Waziristan so the news each day is going to come in dribs and drabs but I feel it is important to keep tabs on this offensive. Most of my readers know I love a bit of a slam dunk on Obama or Emanuel or any of the Communist congresscritters but I'm trying to stay focused on this offensive - it really is that pivotal.

From the latest report at Dawn, I have excerpted below some encouraging reports that towns occupied and controlled by the Pakistani Taliban are beginning to fall to the military and others are being surrounded. All good news, of course.

Here's some of the details:

On Jandola Sararogha Axis, security forces have made an envelopment maneuver around the town of Kotkai.
Forces have also secured Tor Ghundai east of Kotkai and Shishwarm north-east of Kotkai, over looking town of Kotkai. Kotkai is the home town of Qari Hussain, known as the mentor of many suicide bombers.
Two ammunition cache sites were blown up along with gun positions at Spin Ghara.
On Shakai-Ladha Axis, positions are being consolidated after securing Sherwangi. Security perimeter is also being enhanced around Wuzi Sar and Boya Narai.
Stiff resistance was faced by security forces in Sherwangi. After heavy fighting, a number of terrorists were killed and their positions captured. One post of Anti-Aircraft gun was vacated by terrorists without fighting.
Security forces are consolidating their positions in the south and south west of Razmak. Rocket fire was received from the direction of Makeen, resultantly one soldier was injured.
Arms and ammunition dumps made in the caves between Ladha and Makeen have been destroyed by precision air targeting. Terrorists fired a rocket at Shakai Fort but no loss has been reported.
Regarding Operation Rah-e-Rast in Swat and Malakand, as many as 11 terrorists voluntarily surrendered to security forces at Miandam, Chuprial, Shangla, Kabal and Manglour. Security forces conducted search operation at terrorists commander Farman’s house at Shakardarra and neutralised four IEDs and recovered cache of arms and ammunition.

As you can see, progress is being made - the Pakistani military is known for plodding along but from other reports I've read, it seems they are still utilizing air strikes and artillery which is a good sign. One other thing, the Pakistani military is well aware of the Taliban's penchant for abandoning a village or town, just to go up into the nearby hills and wait....and that is where the artillery is so important...to keep the Taliban either moving or dying.

South Waziristan offensive kills 18 more militants: army

RAWALPINDI: At least 18 more militants were killed and two soldiers martyred in the last 24 hours of the operation in South Waziristan agency.
According to an ISPR statement here on Monday, in the last 24 hours, reportedly 18 terrorists have been killed while two soldiers were martyred and 12 sustained injuries during security forces’ operation in South Waziristan.
