It's Confirmed: Al Qaeda Is In Russia's North Caucasus Region...Algerian Killed By Russian Security

Chilling news for the Russians as an Algerian member of Al Qaeda was killed in a raid by Russian security forces in the North Caucasus area yesterday. Now, I've been blogging about the rise of islamic terror in this region in the past few months but not even in my wild imagination did I think we'd find al Qaeda present here...but they are. From the report at Reuters:

Russian security forces said on Monday they had killed an al Qaeda agent and a second rebel fighter in its troubled North Caucasus region of Dagestan. Russian officials say cash from foreign-based radical Islamic organisations is funding the recent surge of violence in Dagestan and the other two North Caucasus regions of Chechnya and Ingushetia in which dozens of people have died.
"A representative of an international terrorist organisation in the North Caucasus tasked to oversee terrorist acts in Dagestan was neutralised during a combat operation," a security officer told Vesti-24 television news channel."He is an Algerian national widely known in underground gangs as 'Doctor Muhammed"," said the official dressed in combat gear who stood with his back to the camera.

As I've mentioned before, the Russians are looking at some serious shit going on as the islamic terror effort has become more organized and now, perhaps this is a prelude as to why. Unfortunately for the Russians, finding one al Qaeda is similar to finding a rat in your house...when you find one, there's usually a helluva lot more of them.
