Breaking: U.S. Soldier Captured By Taliban In Eastern Afghanistan

We are sending out prayers for the American soldier that went missing on Tuesday in eastern Afghanistan and who has been captured - the article from Fox News will not commit to naming those that captured the soldier as the Taliban, but I will. Photo above is a file phot. Here's the Fox release:

U.S.: American Soldier Captured in Afghanistan

KABUL — Insurgents have captured an American soldier in eastern Afghanistan, the U.S. military said Thursday.
Spokeswoman Capt. Elizabeth Mathias said the soldier went missing Tuesday.
"We are using all of our resources to find him and provide for his safe return," Mathias said.
Mathias did not provide details on the soldier, the location where he was captured or the circumstances.
"We are not providing further details to protect the soldier's well-being," she said.
An Afghan police official said the soldier went missing during the day Tuesday in the Mullakheil area of eastern Paktika province. Gen. Nabi Mullakheil said there is an American base in the area.
The news broke as thousands of U.S. Marines launched a major anti-Taliban offensive in southern Afghanistan. The missing soldier was not part of that operation.
Zabiullah Mujaheed, a spokesman for the Taliban, could not confirm that the soldier was with any of their forces. A myriad of insurgent groups operate in eastern Afghanistan, and the Taliban is only one of them.
It's important to note that his soldier was NOT part of the new offensive taking place in Helmand province but further east in Paktika province...which is usually a much quieter area of Afghanistan. With the announcement of this, look for the claims of capture to flood in today although I would say that the Taliban might need another day or two to really contemplate the gravity of what they've done.

Sounds like he wanted to go. Maybe a Muslim or just someone who is Section 8.

Federale,

I agree...this sounds fishy as hell to me. The latest report I saw is that the soldier left the base with three ANA soldiers - this reeks of some sort of setup - there's no way this guy would have left on his own unless the ANA soldiers duped him with some sort of "find."
