I guess it's a landmark that an investigation of the Iranian Presidential election would even be called by the nation's supreme leader but the nuts and bolts of it is just window dressing, as today, Iran's Ayatollah Ali Khomenei called for just that. It does show just how widespread the demonstrations are and perhaps, how damaging the regime sees the footage of the protests and police crackdowns have been to world opinion. Let's face it, no one wins the Presidential elections in Iran other than the man that the Ayatollah wants to win - it's simple as that. So, my guess is that there will be a fake investigation this week with an announcement on Friday that the election was fair, Ahmadinejad won and now, everyone get back to your places in line holding your "Death to America" sign. Besides, any more disruptions could delay the September debut of two dozen nuclear warheads.

Iran supreme leader orders probe of vote fraud
TEHRAN, Iran (AP) - Iran's state television says the supreme leader has ordered an investigation into claims of fraud in last week's presidential election.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is ordering the powerful Guardian Council to examine the allegations by pro-reform candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi, who claims widespread vote rigging in Friday's election. The government declared President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad the winner in a landslide victory.
It is a stunning turnaround for Iran's most powerful figure, who previously welcomed the results.
Mousavi wrote an appeal Sunday to the Guardian Council, a powerful 12-member body that's a pillar of Iran's theocracy. Mousavi also met Sunday with Khamenei.
Mousavi's backers have waged three days of street protests in Tehran.

Election fraud?
In Iran?
Wow!! Who knew?
Does ACORN have a chapter there?
I'm Back! Two weeks since I have so much as seen a computer - nice in some ways but I've had news junkie withdrawal.
It is encouraging to see the turnout at these protests - however I expect the Revolutionary Guard to come in and crush this thing any day now.
The vote totals seem suspect, but Amedinijad has a lot of support among the rural poor. The ruling elites and intellectuals think he is a moron, rightfully so.
I'd love to see a full on "out with the Mullahs" revolution, but it probably won't happen today.
