Turkish Police Capture 19 Al Qaeda Jihadis In Raids

The Turkish police have scored pretty big in arresting 19 suspected al Qaeda operatives inside of Turkey and unfortunately for Turkey, that is probably just the tip of the iceberg. Here's the entire brief article from Reuters:

Turkish police detain 19 in al Qaeda raids

ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkish police detained 19 people in raids on suspected al Qaeda militants on Tuesday, state-run Anatolian news agency said.
The operations took place in five provinces in central and southern Turkey. Police also seized guns and computers from suspected al Qaeda cell houses, Anatolian said.
Security sources were not immediately available for comment.
Islamist radicals have carried out bomb attacks in predominantly Muslim Turkey in the past, most notably in 2003 when al Qaeda militants killed more than 60 people in a series of bombings in Istanbul.

Folks, if there is one thing that you keep your eye on over the next year, other than the quickening fall of Pakistan, it will be the islamic takeover of the government of Turkey. Turkey, the shining secular government on the hill of Islam, is in deep shit - the one islamic political party is now in power there and we have seen more and more shift towards an islamic state. At the same time, we have seen increased terror attacks in the country, mostly by al Qaeda and the Kurdish resistance.

This is a huge prize sought by al Qaeda and I think what we will see is an al Qaeda campaign of terror against the Turkish military - the military there is basically what keeps this country secular and if the people continue to push for a shift to more of an Iranian brand of islamic republic, the military will become more and more a target of al Qaeda insurgency.

Hopefully, I am wrong but I predict that Turkey, in as little as 1.5 years will start to look like Pakistan.

It'd be interesting to know what interrogation techniques the Turks use when they capture folks like these.
