Things are getting ominous in Pakistan, folks. One thing I have learned about the Taliban after years of following them is that they generally do not B.S. nearly as much as say al Qaeda or the Palestinians or even the king of all crapola, the Iranians. When the Taliban said in Afghanistan that they would destroy cell phone towers, the next day dozens of towers bit the dust. When the Taliban said that they would attack Kandahar and Kabul in Aghanistan, those attacks did come. And now, the Taliban in Pakistan is saying they are going to take Islamabad, the nation's capital and I do believe that is their plan - they have already moved south into a new district and set up a base...they are getting closer by the day. And believe me, if the Taliban takes Islamabad, it's over. Pakistan will be lost and we will see nuclear weapons in the hands of terrorists. Here's an excerpt from the report at the Times of India:
I can only say this - there HAS to be a Western plan set up immediately to intervene in Pakistan - I don't care if the government there has not asked for help or not...they are in dire straits and before long, it's going to be too damn late.
Taliban fighters from Pakistan's restive Swat valley have begun extending their influence to other areas even as a top militant commander said that the rebels would also take over the federal capital. Some 400 to 500 Taliban militants from Swat have taken over two villages near Buner, 100 km northwest of Islamabad, after two days of clashes with a 'lashkar' or tribal militia formed to stop their advance, TV channels reported on Thursday.
Militant commander Rizwan Bacha told Dawn News channel that Maulana Fazlullah, chief of the Taliban in Swat, had ordered them to remain in Buner despite calls from tribal elders for militants to leave the area. The Taliban have set up a base in Buner after torching several houses.

Pak Taliban fighters uniting to take over Islamabad: Reports

A group of clerics is mediating with the Taliban and tribal elders after the two sides agreed to a ceasefire in Buner. At least eight militants, two members of the lashkar and three policemen died in clashes that erupted after the Taliban moved into Buner on Monday.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Taliban commander Mullah Nazeer Ahmed said various militant factions had united to take over the federal capital. "The day is not far when Islamabad will be in the hands of the mujahideen," he said in an interview with al- Qaida's media arm, Al-Sahab.

Stories like this make me fear that we are ever closer to having to once again use our nuclear stockpile. If Pakistan falls, the entire world is in trouble, with the US, India, Isreal, and possibly China being very high on the target list.
I don't see India letting nukes change hands there. I used to say this about our county. Sadly I don't think it's the case anymore. India is the country with the most to lose in the short term, they will go in if need be. I hope they do, because a lot of islamofacist dirtbags will be receiving their 72 goats.
I'd gladly take on the nessesary sacrifices (draft, scrap metal drives, war bonds, victory gardens, rations) if we went in to Pakistan and fully mobilized tomorrow.
China and India have the most at stake in Pakistan, they will probably beat us to the punch which is fine with me. The 21st century belongs to China and India the way the 20th belonged to the US. It would be nice if they got together.
China alone could absolutely overwhelm Pakistan, and any other neighboring country for that matter. I would love the see India and China tell NATO - "This is our neighborhood and we got it on lock."
Sadly it may not happen this way. As much as I'm encouraged by the sight of Pakistans lawyers rioting to have judges reinstated, a bunch of lawyers won't stop the Taliban.
This crisis is the real deal y'all. This will be Obama's 9/11 - it will define his first term.
Save your scrap metal and plant your gardens folks.
What do you think will happen when they get a hold of the nukes?
Great comments by everyone! Yeah, even you Esquerita LOL
Findalis,
I'm afraid I can't even sink to the depths to guess what the Taliban/al Qaeda would do first with nuclear weapons - as some have commented on here, they would more than likely see them initially as a defensive weapon as their "neighbors" would be their biggest enemies , not necessarily even the U.S., NATO or Israel.

Pakistan is a country torn between the 21st and the 12th century, the islamic world and the west. This is a legacy of her Britannic inheritance.
I'm fairly sure that there are large swaths of Pakistan who have no taste for the Taliban's rule.
So what we have here is the beginnings of a civil war.
Another Algeria, in fact.
Esq, the 21st Century will only belong to China and India because of the severe handicapping Obama is going to lay on us.
