Cuba's Raul Castro Sets The Trap For Obama

Call me crazy but I wouldn't trust a communist thug such as Raul Castro (and even more so, his fleabag brother) as far as I could throw his old body. And it's my view that today's big, earth-shattering announcement by the communist dictator of Cuba, that has all of the leftist media in the U.S. salivating and wetting their big boy pants, is nothing but a ploy - it's a set up, it's a stage set to prove just how weak and inexperienced Barack Obama actually is. Here's my contention: Raul Castro has NO intention whatsoever of reviewing ANY of the practices of his thuglike regime in Cuba ... he simply wants to see just what the new American administration will give away in some sort of Let's Make A Deal round table. Here's some of the crap that Castro spewed today that all of the naive Left is eating up by the shovel full, from the story at CNN:

The Cuban government, long the object of a U.S. economic blockade, is prepared to meet with the Obama administration, Cuba's leader said.

"We've told the North American government, in private and in public, that we are prepared, wherever they want, to discuss everything -- human rights, freedom of the press, political prisoners -- everything, everything, everything that they want to discuss," Cuban President Raúl Castro said Thursday at a summit of leftist Latin American leaders in Venezuela.
The response came days after President Obama lifted all restrictions on the ability of American citizens to visit relatives in Cuba as well as to send them remittances.
Okay, did you see what I highlighted there in that quote? This piece of shit, Castro, WON'T EVEN REFER TO OUR COUNTRY AS THE UNITED STATES or AMERICA! "North American government" - holy shit people, if that doesn't send the signal that this guy is as defiant as he was 20 years ago, what does?

Here's more, this time from Obama:

"And if there is some sense of movement on those fronts in Cuba, then I think we can see a further thawing of relations and further changes."
Now, how milk toast can you get with that statement?!! That is Obama's requirements of Cuba? ...."some sense of movement" ???!!! What the fuck IS that? Apparently this is like some sense of movement by veterans and conservatives in America that required Obama's Homeland Security department to call them "extremists" and issue a warning about them.

So, here we have a communist dictator who says he's willing to sit down and talk and instead of the Obama administration qualifying any negotiations with what would be required, it's all some sort of a fluff-go-round and will more than likely entail the U.S. embarrassing themselves by sitting down with this common criminal, giving him want he wants and getting NOTHING in return. You watch folks...this will turn out to be a media frenzy if these meetings take place and the U.S. will end up lifting major sanctions on Cuba and the Cubans will get off with some sort of "promise to move towards more human rights for Cubans"...and the MSNBC's and the CNN's of the world will announce to the world that Obama is the Maker of Peace in this world! The Cubans won't make one change in their operating methods and will receive what they wanted out of the whole deal - it's a negotiation that is set up for failure for the U.S. because we have a freshman President who has his head in the clouds and his ass in the air.

Raúl Castro: Cuba ready 'to discuss everything' with U.S.

Travel restrictions for Americans of non-Cuban descent will remain in place.
This week's move represents a significant shift in a U.S. policy that had remained largely unchanged for nearly half a century. The U.S. government instituted the embargo three years after Fidel Castro came to power in 1959.
In Mexico City for meetings with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, Obama offered a carrot and a stick to Havana.

"What we're looking for is some signal that there are going to be changes in how Cuba operates that assures that political prisoners are released, that people can speak their minds freely, that they can travel, that they can write and attend church and do the things that people throughout the hemisphere can do and take for granted," he said.
"And if there is some sense of movement on those fronts in Cuba, then I think we can see a further thawing of relations and further changes."
Obama's gesture precedes a trip this week to Trinidad and Tobago for a key meeting of hemispheric powers -- the Summit of the Americas.

Did you hear about the Black Congressional caucus going to Cuba? And now Obama wants to open talks with these communists again.

And the trap he will fall into. Why would he start getting things right now?? I would love to be a fly on the wall in W's place now.

afrocity,

Yes...the Black Caucus was a total embarrassment - i didn't see the video footage but did those Congresssmen and Congresswomen visit the graves of the black Cubans that Castro murdered in his takeover and subsequent rule?

Jeff,

I agree...he's consistent...consistently wrong.

We should not ignore the human rights records of our trading partners - How much Saudi oil did we buy last year?

China is just as brutal as Cuba when it comes to jailing and killing anyone who questions the communist party - lets stop trading with them too!

Anyone? Oh shit - we owe the Chinese billions and they would sell off all those treasury bills. Oh well.
Chinese communist good, too big a market to ignore. Cuban communist bad -we can afford not to sell them anything. I think I got it now.

Esq - your point being that it's ok for Obama to cozy up to brtual dictatrs and mass murderers. Thanks for clearing up your position.

Maybe next, he'll embrace another facist dictator like himself, maybe Hugo Chavez! < oh wait, did he....?>

No my point is that there is no point pretending that the US bases its trade policies on human rights records when we buy everything from China and get our oil from the Middle East. What has Castro done that Red China has not?

Esq,

For pete's sakes...the U.S. started sanctions on Cuba with John F. Kennedy's administration - the reason was pretty clear then and pretty clear now - the Cubans plotted attacks on America and threatened this country. That's why they've been shunned forever and should be forever.

Typical Leftist argument you use - you can look at the facts of Cuba in and of itself, it's always bringing up something else. If I told you the sun rose in the East, your response would be: well, I don't know about that but there's someplace on earth that if you stand in just the right spot the sun would actually rise in the west.

The entire world trades with Cuba and their tourists visit Cuba yet nothing in Cuba changes.

Saying that if the USA were to trade with Cuba or that American tourists visiting Cuba would make any difference is ignoring reality.
