Al Qaeda Suicide Bomber Kills 15 Iraqi Troops

Man, this was a bad one. At a joint military base west of Baghdad, a suicide bomber infiltrated and blew himself up killing 15 Iraqi troops and wounding another 40. There is no word of any U.S. troops involved but this is a stark realization that the enemy may be defeated but has not left. Here's the entire article out of Breitbart:

Iraq: Suicide bomber kills 15 Iraqi soldiers

BAGHDAD (AP) - An Iraqi army officer says a suicide bomber walked into a base west of Baghdad and set off his explosives belt, killing 15 Iraqi soldiers and wounding at least 40.
The officer says the attack Thursday occurred at the joint base shared by Iraqi soldiers and U.S. troops in Habbaniyah about 45 miles (70 kilometers) west of Baghdad.
He says the bomber walked up to a group of soldiers headed for a base canteen and then detonated his explosives. The officer spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not allowed to release the information.
It's not immediately clear if there were any U.S. soldiers at or near the gathering.
This brings up the subject of the U.S. withdrawls that are planned - I, for one, have been uneasy about this as I see the Iraqis still vulnerable. I insist that once the vast majority of U.S. troops are out of Iraq, that al Qaeda WILL be back. Now, the Iraqi army is vastly improved and pretty darn capable but I don't think it's unfathomable that al Qaeda will plan some serious testing. A lot will depend upon with what is on the plate over in Afghanistan and Pakistan but let us not forget that Iraq, particularly Baghdad, is the jewel that Osama bin Laden has always sought.
