Awww....such a shame! hahahaha! Yeah, I'm really depressed over this news (can't you tell) - but a top Fatah leader in Lebanon has been killed along with two of his bodyguards and another Fatah official in southern Lebanon as a bomb was detonated as his convoy passed by. Now, I'm linking to the story at Yahoo News here which is an AFP report and the damn author of the story keeps referring to the guy as PLO - well, yes...he was a PLO official with Arafat but we quit using the term "PLO" years ago - he's in Fatah. I'm also linking to the story here at The Jerusalem Post because they get it write and each has some interesting slants to this killing. One of the reasons I'm using the Yahoo story is because of some in Fatah trying to blame Israel. Here's some of the Yahoo story details:
Okay, so now a bit from the Jerusalem Post story:
So, with all that to digest, it appears that we have a couple of options on who did this - one, as conjectured is that Israel did it and second, the theory is put out that there is some warring going on amongst Fatah in Lebanon. I don't think either is right. First off, this is not the way Israel operates normally, especially as close as Lebanon - if Israel wanted to get this guy, they would have done an airstrike - these buffoons in Lebanon seriously think Israel sent some Mossad agents into Lebanon to rig a shed with explosives when all they'd have to do was put an Apache up in the air and kill the putz with a hellfire? And I don't buy that Fatah infighting would lead to a bombing like this.
So who did it? My guess is that it was Hezbollah. The fact is that Fatah and Hamas just had a major blow up in the Egyptian talks for unifying them in the Palestinian territory - both sides walked away pissed off. And we know of the dozens of Fatah that were killed by Hamas during Israel's Gaza operation with many accusations of Fatah's assisting the Israelis. So, I think the Hamas boys simply picked up the phone, called their Iranian-backed brothers in arms to the north, Hezbollah and said..."take this dude out and send a real signal." Just a guess folks but in the end, this asshole is dead and gone and hopefully we might see some real serious infighting go on between all the terrorist misfits in Lebanon and Palestine.
Senior Palestine Liberation Organisation official Kamal Medhat, two of his bodyguards and another Palestinian official were travelling in a convoy when the bomb exploded at the entrance of the Mieh Mieh camp near the coastal town of Sidon, an army spokesman told AFP.
"The bomb was apparently hidden in a little shed on the side of the road and was detonated as Medhat's convoy drove by," he said.
Abbas Zaki, the Palestinian Authority's representative in Lebanon, blamed Israel for the killing and warned it would have serious repercussions in Lebanon and the Palestinian camps.
"Those behind the killing are working in one way or another for Israel," said Zaki, who had left the camp in another vehicle just minutes before the blast. "We are trying to calm the situation inside the camps."
Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas, who is also the head of the PLO, "condemned this terrorist crime," according to a statement from his office. The militant group Hezbollah said the attack bore "the fingerprints of the Zionists and was aimed at sowing discord."
Okay, so now a bit from the Jerusalem Post story:
It was also unclear if the blast was related to a reported power struggle among Fatah members in Lebanon. Madhat was known to have enemies within and outside Fatah, mainly extremist Islamic groups opposing Abbas' peace deals with Israel.
Sultan Abul-Einein, a senior Fatah commander in Lebanon, described Madhat's killing as a "tragedy." He warned in a television interview that Monday's bombing could be the beginning of a "cycle" to target other Fatah officials in Lebanon.

Top PLO official killed in Lebanon bombing
SIDON, Lebanon (AFP) – A top Palestinian official and three other people were killed in a roadside bombing outside a restive refugee camp in southern Lebanon on Monday.
Medhat, who was a close aide to the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat, is the highest ranking Palestinian official killed in Lebanon since the PLO was forced to pull out of the country in 1982 after the Israeli invasion.
Medhat, 58, was the PLO's deputy representative in Lebanon and also a former intelligence chief for the mainstream Fatah movement in the country.
The bomb, made up of more than 20 kilos (44 pounds) of TNT, was detonated by remote control, Munir Maqdah, who is in charge of security at Lebanon's refugee camps, told AFP.
The other victims were identified as Akram Daher, who was in charge of the PLO's youth organisation in Lebanon, and bodyguards Khaled Daher and Mohammed Shehadeh.
Maqdah said three people in a second car were seriously wounded.
The force of the blast tore through Medhat's Mercedes and hurled it into a nearby olive grove, an AFP correspondent witnessed.
Tensions have been running high in Mieh Mieh where two people died at the weekend in an apparent settling of accounts between rival clans.
Medhat "was on his way out of the camp where he had visited officials in a bid to ease the tension," Hisham el-Debsi, a PLO official, told AFP.
Medhat, also known as Kamal Naji, was a close aide to Arafat when the PLO chief was leading his guerrilla war against Israel from Lebanon.
The representative of the Palestinian Islamist faction Hamas in Lebanon, Osama Hamdan, condemned the killing, saying it was aimed at creating discord in the Palestinian camps, considered breeding grounds for extremism.
