For The Umpteeth Time, Iran Makes Fools Out of Obama Administration

It's getting to the point where one has to question whether or not the Obama administration is just flat out masochistic. Ever since he has taken office, President Obama has been bitch slapped by the Iranians, yet he has continued to cowtow to the mullahs and their ilk and so, again the Iranians have embarrassed the U.S. on the world stage - this time as the Iranians join the conference to discuss Afghanistan. Many countries are meeting at The Hague today to discuss strategies to bring resolve to the War in Afghanistan and at the same time that the Obama administration has been justifying that Iran is there for these talks, the Iranians have now come out with a flat response saying that America is the problem...for having troops in Afghanistan. This is foreign policy by a guy we all KNEW was going to be incompetent at it but I don't think anyone believed he would be THIS incompetent. Here's some of the details from Reuters:

The United States was meeting Tuesday with countries from around the world, including its adversary Iran, to seek support for its new strategy to end a stalemate in Afghanistan.

Richard Holbrooke, U.S. special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, said Iran's presence at the conference was a logical part of efforts to produce peace for Afghans.
"How can you talk about Afghanistan and exclude one of the countries that's a bordering, neighboring state?" he told reporters in The Hague. "The presence of Iran here is obvious."
Ahead of the conference, Akhoundzadeh repeated Iran's opposition to the presence of U.S. troops in Afghanistan.
"The presence of foreign troops cannot bring peace and stability for Afghanistan," he was quoted as saying by Iran's official IRNA news agency.
"It encourages radicalism," he said. "This policy (that the Western countries) decide for the Afghan nation and for the Afghan officials does not work out any more."

Clinton, who said she has no plans for direct talks with Iranian officials at the conference, said she wanted Iran's help on border security and fighting drugs in Afghanistan.

I'm so bloody tired of this...I want to climb on top of some mountain peak with a loudspeaker and scream to the Obama administration and state, "the Iranians do NOT want anything to do with the U.S. We are the 'Great Satan' in their eyes!"

There has been not a single indication at any time in the past two years that the Iranians were even remotely interested in any conversation with America. Yet the Obama administration plunges head first into acting the pansy and coddling them for any sort of acceptance. We have Holbrooke saying that the Iranians deserve to be at these meetings while at the same time, we are winding up a war in Iraq where the Iranians are responsible for dozens of deaths of U.S. troops - how the fuck do you justify that?!!

The Iranians not only think we are a bunch of doofuses from all of this, they certainly have ZERO fear of any retribution for their building of nuclear weapons nor their export of terror worldwide. Unbelievable.

U.S., Iran at Afghan talks

THE HAGUE (Reuters) - The United States was meeting Tuesday with countries from around the world, including its adversary Iran, to seek support for its new strategy to end a stalemate in Afghanistan.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was not expected to hold substantive talks with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mohammad Mehdi Akhoundzadeh at the meeting in The Hague.
But the conference would nonetheless bring the two together as Washington tries to enlist regional support in tackling Islamist militants in Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Shi'ite Iran worked with Washington after the United States ousted the Sunni Taliban from Afghanistan 2001.
But it backed off after being branded by former U.S. president George W. Bush as part of the "axis of evil."
It has denied U.S. accusations that it has supported the Taliban as a way of keeping at bay the United States, which has troops in both Iran's neighbors -- Iraq and Afghanistan.
"A RESPONSIBLE POSITION"
In a reversal of the policy of the former Bush administration, Obama's team views Iran as vital to any lasting solution in Afghanistan, and has sought engagement despite the continuing stand-off over Tehran's nuclear program.
Clinton, who said she has no plans for direct talks with Iranian officials at the conference, said she wanted Iran's help on border security and fighting drugs in Afghanistan.
European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana said he hoped Iran would "take a responsible position."

Don't they say madness is defined as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result?

We see this behaviour not only with Obama and his team repeatedly beating their heads against a brick wall, but in the ordinary Americans who elected a bloke who was clearly only ever going to be a poor imitation of Bill Clinton (and being worse than Clinton is a massive achievement in itself).

He hasn't disappointed, rehashing Clinton's failed advisers and all the usual nonsense.

God help us all.

1st Earl of Cromer,

Excellent insight here - it is, indeed, madness.

Esquerita,

Again, we're back to your defense of Iran, and your attacks on Israel. First off, do you have proof that the Saudis financed 9/11? Or are you simply referring to the nationality of the majority of the attackers?

As for Iran, the reasons for not engaging them are too numerous to list but a sampling is:

1. Their export of terror via Hezbollah and Hamas
2. Their construction of illegal nuclear weapons
3. Their assistance to the Sadrists in Iraq in killing American troops
4. The hostage taking in Tehran in the 70's (yeah, i have a long memory)
5. Supplying arms to the Taliban in Afghanistan via either direct or indirect means.

Iran has never supplied arms to the Taliban. Saddam or increased Iranian influence in Iraq - the Bush administration made that choice for us.

I still ask what Israel has done for us (US) that they deserve our unquestioning support for their every landgrab. Israel steals land. People throughout history respond to land theft with violence. Human nature.

I'm referring to the fact that the Saudis export a particularly repressive strain of Islam. Their whole country is the most repressive in the world of Islam and yet we will never touch them.

Israels nukes are legal? Pakistan's?
India's?
