I have long felt that the country of Turkey would one day become a huge battlefield for the radical islamic terrorists as they certainly have designs on overthrowing the secular government of Turkey and setting up an islamic state, similar to that of Iran, so I try to throw up every example of terrorist attacks in the country. What caught my eye about the bombing of a bar in northern Turkey today was the denials of any terrorism on the part of the officials in that province. Here's an excerpt from the article at MSNBC:
Okay, so let me be sure I have this straight. People are crowded into a bar that is serving alcohol. A bomb goes off INSIDE of the bar. Nine people are injured, one seriously. And it isn't terrorism? Is this Governor saying it's what....a water heater went off? This is the same Turkey where there has been terror attacks trying to persuade the government to allow hijab edicts at public universities and so, an attack on the allowing of the serving of alcohol fits the same bill, don't you think?
It's this kind of denial, by a Governor like this, that will end up sinking Turkey's secular government - certainly, the army of Turkey is a strong one but when these kinds of terror attacks start occuring each and every week and it takes officials months to figure out that they are under attack, it may just be too late.
Oh, and I wonder how this Governor is going to explain to the wounded that this wasn't terror.
An official says a bomb has exploded in a bar in northern Turkey and injured nine people.
Governor Nuri Okutan of Trabzon province says the blast occurred in the town of Besikduzu early Saturday. He says one of the injured is in serious condition.
Okutan says the attack does not appear to be terrorism related but has refused to give more details.

Turkey: bomb blast injures 9

Turkey is a secular country but predominantly Muslim. Radical Islamic groups have targeted places selling alcohol in the past.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's Islamic-rooted government has enacted a law giving mayors rather than state officials the power to issue liquor licenses and designate areas where alcohol can be consumed.
