U.S. Troops Kill 32 Taliban In Eastern Afghanistan Raid

Wow. American troops went into Laghman province (east of Kabul) in Afghanistan today to break up a bomb-making cell of Taliban and when a firefight broke out from a fairly large Taliban contingency, U.S. troops were successful in killing 32 of those Taliban. Some of the details of this operation are here from Breitbart:

Forces from the U.S.-led coalition killed 32 armed insurgents during a clash in eastern Afghanistan, the military said Wednesday.
The insurgents were killed Tuesday in a firefight that broke out during a strike on a Taliban bomb-making cell in Laghman Province, the military said in a statement.
As many as 75 armed militants converged on the troops, shooting at them from rooftops and alleyways, the statement said. The 32 insurgents were killed when coalition troops returned fire.
The troops also destroyed two caches of weapons and roadside bomb-making materials that were too unstable to move to another location, the statement said.
Although this is great news, one of the concerning aspects of this raid is that I honestly don't remember the last time that I heard of any battles happening in Laghman province - this just shows how dispersed the Taliban actually are in Afghanistan. And it shines a light on just why so many more troops are needed in the War in Afghanistan.

At the same time, I gotta tell ya...although this battle description is pretty brief and vague, this is one video that I just GOTTA see! Hopefully, down the line we'll get something back to throw up on this.

US: Troops kill 32 insurgents in east Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - Forces from the U.S.-led coalition killed 32 armed insurgents during a clash in eastern Afghanistan, the military said Wednesday.
The deputy governor of Laghman Province, Hadayut Qalanderzai, said he had reports that some civilians were either killed or injured in the blast when the caches were destroyed, but said he did not have figures or details.
The military statement said the troops moved nearby civilians to a safe location before detonating the weapons, and that secondary blasts from the unstable explosives destroyed the building they were housed in. Spokesman Col. Jerry O'Hara said in the statement that the forces "prevented any civilian casualties."
The clash happened in Alishang district, about 100 kilometers northeast of the capital of Kabul.

A big thank you and congratulations to our staunch US troops for giving 32 more taliban freaks lead poisoning. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Go USA! God bless our brave troops in the war on terror.

The best thing about this is that the troops killed the Taliban. No one captured. That's the way to handle terrorists and satisfy all the leftists at home. Don't bring them to Guantanamo, just leave them dead on the battlefield. Go USA!

Here I am in Laghman Province, On the FOB Mehtar Lam. This happend maybe 20 kilometers away from here, it is our Area of Operations. I had no idea that this happend until I looked on the news. We usually travel pass that sub-valley to go to the Combat Outpost in Najil. Usuallly we have no problems with any insurgents. We know we are being watched but we are always ready. Now the other valley (alingar) we went into one of its subvalleys and we knew its a badland, but we went in anyway and the welcoming party was there with AK47s. We did not stay long there, nor did we return fire since they mix with the civilian population. The fire ceased after our Close Air Support showed up.
There has not been many attacks in Laghman Province, i think its more of a passing zone for the Taliban into other provinces. Anyway I am glad that Seals kicked some ass!!!
