Yep - 22 less Taliban are in the world tonight thanks to U.S. troops in Afghanistan. In several different battles and clashes, 22 Taliban were killed in southern and eastern Afghanistan. Here's the entire brief article here from VOA News:
As I caught one glimpse of some of the Inauguration festivities here today, it made me wonder just how President Obama will handle his commitments during the campaign in regard to Afghanistan. As you know, there has been 20,000 more U.S. troops promised to this front - what do you think? Will he honor that commitment or not?
22 Militants Killed in Afghanistan Coalition Ground, Air AssaultsLet's face it, the news coming out of Afghanistan has been a bit lean lately - there really hasn't been that much going on partly due to the winter layover of the Taliban and such so it's nice to see the U.S. forces have an extraordinary day today.
The U.S. military says coalition forces in Afghanistan have killed 22 militants in a series of clashes throughout the country. Officials said the coalition's ground and air assaults took place Monday in southern and eastern Afghanistan. They said one operation targeted a Taliban network in Kapisa province, killing 18 insurgents and one Taliban commander. The military also said they killed another Taliban commander and two insurgents in two raids in the Kandahar and Zabul provinces.Officials did not mention any casualties among coalition troops.Violence has risen in Afghanistan as militants have made a comeback after their initial defeat following the U.S.-led invasion in 2001.

Thanks for some good news on a depressing day. With this news and the extra ammo I bought on my lunch break, the day is not a total loss.
Jeff,
Glad there was something to cheer you up!
